Just bought a z650rs a few days ago as my first big bike from a 110cc scooter. The transition from the small bike to this one is so far very smooth. I am very happy and satisfied at the moment. Considerations for my choice: price, weight, ease of use in congested almost stand still traffic where you compete with small scooters in filtering through, ease of parking in cramped parking spaces, and lastly - look that won’t easily age with time. Since my bikes main purpose is as a daily rider on a slow heavily trafficked commute and won’t be likely used often with speed greater than 60km/h, the exciting but more pricey trident, cbr650 and mt-07/xsr700 would easily be an overkill. The z650’s design is just not fit for my age and imho can age fast. The suzuki offerings (sv650) in my area are still outdated (still with non-LED lamps and poor visibility LCD displays) and pricey. A lot of cheaper Chinese offerings are also available in my locality (Benilli, CFMoto) but not in my consideration since they still have to prove their reliability. RE models are not available in my locality. The z650rs somehow hit the spot for these requirements. The small fuel tank doesn’t make it top heavy even when full and combined with it’s tuning for low and midrange torque makes it very light and agile for filtering in stand still cramped traffic.
@@akilghosh Thank you. Actually, I researched extensively before I bought my bike so it's not rationalization of a decision made. I know what I need and what I want. If I lived in India, I dont think I'd buy a bike for more than that. So many options in India, why pay 2-3x more when you really can't use it. I'd be riding a nice 125 if I lived over there, seems like plenty and a good value..
Have been eyeing the 650R for a while now as my first big bike. Hope can pull it off by next 2 years, provided they keep this thing of beauty in production lines.
The honda is an inline-4 with a 180-degree crank, Triumph an inline-3 and the Kawi a parallel twin with a 180-degree crank. These are the founding factors in making the characteristics of the bike and in turn defines the nature of the machine. The Triumph is a contemporary Moto-2 representing bike. The honda is of the previous-gen when version moto-2 used honda's engine, whereas the Kawi is predominantly retro only in looks. So it really just depends on which era of bikes you'd like to get into and not necessarily about the price when it comes to bikes in my humble opinion. For someone like me who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s, the Honda inline-4 650 is the dream. So I think motorcycles are more about passion rather than cost and practicality. I would gladly pay more for that extra cylinder. P.S The Ducati Panigale V-twin also falls in this category of retro bikes.
Have a Trident 660 and its a terrific bike. As a mature experienced rider I found the suspension a little harsh and was my only criticism of an otherwise great package. I have uprated the front with a Maxton GP20 cartridge and the rear with shock factory unit. Now I have premium suspension and its still cheaper than the Honda.
Spot on. I will say I've gotten used to the more rigid suspension. It's definitely a shock to go over some of the bigger potholes from time to time we have up here in MN. You just have to accept it's tuned for better cornering and not cruising around in luxury (despite most things on the bike being far, and I mean FAR, higher end than most of the competition). But a suspension change/upgrade isn't the worst idea in the world. I have thought about changing out the seat, though. haha

They're a lot cheaper and built to a price point. They're different bikes altogether. Easy to maintain on your own, just try to change an air filter in any one of these. And the service reach is incredible. I live in a rural area in Himachal and there is an authorised RE service centre right in town. And general mechanics can easily do maintenance jobs too. RE Twins are more like workhorse bikes. You ride them anywhere and don't have to worry about repairs. But if you want to buy a cheap, classic, low maintenance, great sounding, good looking bike, then either of the RE 650s is going to be a good choice.
you should compare them to 400cc bikes since they are RETRO & can get away with having extra cc(s) because of their weight Triumph does this too with bonnovilles eve though they are 1000+ cc their weight to performance is close to 650 to 800 cc Japanese bikes; so to sum it up you should compare RE 650 twins to KTM Duke 390 BMW310 etc

I see the cb650r comparison a lot and every time I can’t help but think ... it’s not really in that class..... the truth is it’s Z900/gsx-s750 money, and at that price it sucks. I can get a new trident with add ons for less than the Honda is used, and the same features can’t even be added on.
The downshifts and blips on the trident are just not good enough. Rev matching is hard af below 4k rpm and below 2k rpm the bike really likes to stall while clutching.
Does anyone even buy Z650RS? I expected it to be a hit, but have only seen one on road here in Australia so far. I wish they gave couple of more color options.
It's selling in small numbers. The out of place exhaust really detracts. I saw one out for testing and couldn't figure out which bike it was and then saw the exhaust and recognized it to be the Z650 exhaust which looked way out of place on an otherwise beautiful bike

But the Trident doesn't sound loud either... I even have GoPro recordings of my test ride. I'll reply with a link here later.
@@GoodBalak sounds good thanks, honestly I feel the best bike in a range between 8 to 11.5 lakhs is a Kawasaki z900. Best bang for the buck, big bike feel and big bike power.
Great comparison & great location? Where is the location?
These bikes make me realise what an eyesore the sari guard is
Curious that you say the Trident could be boring, but the Rocketman channel says all the others are boring except the Trident.
How is the MT-07 not in this test but you have two nearly identical Kawasaki’s?
That is not in sale in India.
@@amvj That is a shame.
@@mindspinn311 Yamaha India has a weird bunch of people. :(
@@amvj They seem like lovely people for the majority. Millions of motorcycle enthusiasts, most of them poor but happy.
It is really funny how intercepter and continental don't even make the list
That overtake at 7:33 scared me!
Should have included the XSR700 instead of the Z650, as it's based on the class-leading MT07 platform! It might have performed better than the Z650RS too!
XSR700 is not available in India
Any update about the KTM Duke 390 2022 and Duke 490 launch?
legend rohit is back
Honda is the best in this comparison because of its driving dynamics.
please do a video for 900cc naked bikes
What about the RE interceptor ????
Love my Trident
Hi guys,
You missed to include the bikes which are much better than these: Suzuki SV650, Yamaha XSR700 and MT 07.
@satwant singh they are not on sale in India
@Ramkrishna Samrat Nookala Yes, I realised that after posting my comment 😅.
Good job 👍
I couldn't agree more with you 👍🏻
Interceptor 650 is also a worthy contender
Yes, OD must have included re650
Actually no competition with RE twins.. 3.5 lakhs budget best twin cylinder engine IMO
yes because of its affordability people get a honda trident the price of interceptor they never look at the Interceptor 650 anymore🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
styling? --- the Trident gets one more point for not having that "nose--drip" license plate mount.
You dont know what youre talking about. There are countries that REQUIRE having the plate in front and at the back as well. Yeah. You did not search or even ask question. You only OPENED your mouth. Thats why YOU DONT KNOW.
I see the cb650r comparison a lot and every time I can’t help but think ... it’s not really in that class..... the truth is it’s Z900/gsx-s750 money, and at that price it sucks. I can get a new trident with add ons for less than the Honda is used, and the same features can’t even be added on.
No.
It's absolutely worth the money cause it's a sports bike.
It’s more money and missing 30hp. The mt-09 - 200 dollars more than the cb650r - 37 hp more - 6 axis imu....
Not in Australia. The Z650 is $12.2K Cb650r is $12.8 k Trident $13.1k. and the Z650RS $13.3k.
What about vibratios please explain
please also include and compare with RE twins (Interceptor or Continental GT) for modern indian buyers
where is the leader-650 twins
Listen to this @3:37 min of the video "take a listen"? Does it mean something? Or just a glitch. Anyway the Honda is a great bike.
I have no idea about motorcycles, so just asking, why there is no interceptor
Because it doesn't belong in these class of bikes. It's a lot slower and the fit and finish is way below these bikes
Bro, the Interceptor 650 sells more than than all these four combined.....many times over. That's my baby!!
ruclips.net/video/Skt3hHIz6l8/видео.html
yes because of its affordability, but build quality and performance is subpar when compared with triumph and honda
yes because of its affordability people get a honda trident the price of interceptor they never look at the Interceptor 650 anymore🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Doesn’t the Trident get hot?
Honda is the most beautiful, I would take is just for looks
Why interceptor 650 is not compared with these sports bike
Suzuki SV650(X), Yamaha MT07(XSR700)?!
Not available in India so we can't compare them
What’s the jacket you are wearing?
Looks like Dianese jacket, 25k+ price
@@qwertyme8338 it’s revit.. pretty expensive
Cb650r 23kmph in 6th gear
The downshifts and blips on the trident are just not good enough. Rev matching is hard af below 4k rpm and below 2k rpm the bike really likes to stall while clutching.
I'm not sure on the plates infront though.
do better color grading please, would make the video more enjoyable while watching, it looks like it was shot on a phone
The MT-07/xsr700 will blow these toddlers out of the water.
That why they didn't include it 🤭
Not available in their market…
やっぱ,CB650Rだよね。僕はCB650RとNC750Xの2台体制にする予定。2023の黒を予約してる。
What about ninja650?
No usd in z650
So,where are yamaha xsr700 and Suzuki sv650?
This comparison is not fair. Honda is too expensive and Kawasaki 650s are not good enough.
Not available in their market.
Yeah people do buy them a lot.
Kawasaki sells a ton of bikes per year.
And this bike is also one of the many that Kawasaki sells like there is no tomorrow.
Int 650 should have been included as well 🙏
Not really. They are good VFM bikes but they don't belong in this category of well made bikes with superior fit and finish
😁
@overdrive hi 👋 what do you think about CF MOTO 650NK Plz tell me
Shit 🤢
Correct the spelling. It’s Braking instead of breaking
