I just did this job to replace the rear main seal. I did not disconnect/remove the exhaust system. The only issue I had was the 8 bolts on the flex plate (flywheel) was they are 3?8" not metric. I had to beat a 9mm socket to get it off because the 10mm, which is to large, rounded one out. Had to go 45 minutes to a dealer to purchase one bolt (only $4 bucks).
