@@slipknottin Last year they gave COVID as an excuse. This year’s lack of changes is fairly insulting. Additionally, the in-game editor is now $8.99. So we now have to pay more to fix game breaking bugs.
I have one thought on the release of FM this year BETA/QA testing is legitimately a job you can get paid to do. I’m tired of paying SI money for this game and then giving them even more profits by literally testing their game for them. These games are typically atrocious and have tons of player ratings wrong until the JANUARY UPDATE PEOPLE!!! The way we’ve been conditioned to accept this is mind numbing, it’s happened to gaming as a whole but very specifically to this community and this game, we’re just totally conditioned to buy the same product over and over
Dynamic youth rating is the thing that will define this game. Either they will build the game around it for the next 10 years or they will ignore it and ruin the game same as other companies ruined theirs by not listening their player base.
Probably a controversial take but games companies should make THEIR games not the plebs who play it's game. Second they start listening to the community it stops being a passion project usually and goes downhill, not to mention your (the players) imagination will never match up to the things made in games
@@heyday1233 the fuck are you talking about FM is not a passion project, it is a product with a pretty big consumer base also nobody says that the players should make every fucking decision for the game but people like zealand for an instance have given very good and realistic feedback which sports interactive could definetly do. Also ironic how you call the players plebs when the reality is that without them football manager would not make any money
What on earth. Of all the things that you think will completely make this crumble you think it’s DYNAMIC YOUTH RATING??? You guys are weird. Totally agree w/ the games possible trajectory just not that that’ll be why
@@mrorlov2706 i was playing fm20 till release of fm23 and im telling you its not nearly bad as this, literally here players position so wrong it causes eyes to bleed especially if you wanna play defensive tactics.
@@MrBuda8 Yes it's much worse. I was playing FM 20 a while ago as well and to be honest I never even noticed it, it was that rare - and I played for 13 seasons. In 23, I'm only a few games into the season and it has happened 3 times. The players just don't lock onto the ball properly for some reason and they just keep running in a random direction away from the ball.
Playing FM22 at the moment and I am crying every match as there is not one match where the slowest fucking ball ever gets misjudged by my best and brightest premier league defender.
@@GamelinPK I actually think this issue has been addressed in FM 23. I only watch Key Highlights though, so I'm not entirely sure. I haven't conceded a goal like that since I first made that comment, though, so I would say that maybe you should look into buying FM 23, but the difference between 23 and 22 probably isn't enough to warrant you purchasing it. So, instead, I'd suggest either buying it cheap from somewhere else during a sale or whatever or just wait for 24. If I'm not mistaken, FM 22 was free with Amazon Prime at some point last year, so keep an eye out for something similar to that with FM 23.
The only reason I bought FM23 is because it’s my first FM purchase since 2017. Huge upgrade for me, but looking at the changes made, I understand why everyone is underwhelmed. Kudos to Zealand for keeping the pressure on SI when his livelihood depends on maintaining some semblance of relationship with them.
Big props to you Z for actually being honest and direct with your negatives and positives instead of gliding over things for fear of a position risk with FM for the future. I think a lot of content creators (and I can't blame them) would be a lot more positive for their own sake, but you saying you're not really that pumped for this game is a massive reason I follow you personally as it builds a trust and realism I feel like you don't often see. Match engine upgrades are massive for me and whilst I know there are bugs in every game the amount currently obvious in the beta test is concerning, and I don't think FM's response as a whole has appreciated how people feel which makes it even worse.
@@BigManJay69 you can't blame them for not wanting to snap the olive branch though can you? It may be a bit weak morally, but if it's your career on the line in your dream job would you rock the boat? Can't say I would - but it's really why I respect Z.
@@Mattulaxe FM can't stop them having a career though. Maybe at worst they lose a percentage of their income, but someone like lolujo has such a following that he will continue to earn the cheddar with or without FM's blessing. So, I 'appreciate' why they may lie, but I don't approve in any way, shape or form
Honestly SI are becoming the new EA. It's pathetic how little they put into improving the game yearly and still charge full price for the game. Seems like a change of leadership is needed, Miles doesn't inspire much confidence
Yup, They are focusing more on the game being playable on phones xboxes and playstations instead of making the game have actually good playing expirience. I bought the new fm and its just a waste of money
Unless you have the memory of a goldfish or a serious brain injury, I don't find the squad planner at all useful, looked at it a couple of times, but it's hardly worth being the main headline feature after the licences...which I also don't care about. Your FM skin is amazing, really helps freshen up the game and improve the presentation of useful information. How are creators better than the studio's game designers at this. SI really need a kick up the arse!
Agree, i thought the squad planner would be useful but forget its even there now. The UI it has is not helpful at all and its just easier to use squad with a good set of columns and filter in there.
Agree with this wholeheartedly. I've attempted to use it before transfer windows for the current season and for future views, but I just cannot see how it is helpful. Generally I know when a player is being sold and another is needed to replace them. I don't need a full planner to visualise this..
I have the memory of a goldfish. Also I don't play FM each day so sometimes when I was away from my team for a week I can't remember. I do find it a good feature, but it won't make me buy the game.
I totally agree with you. I've had enough with these graphics.. i started playing champonship manager 99 with 10 years old and i absolutly loved it when we swapped from text to dots moving around, and then from dots to the current engine... it's been what 15 years since that? it's insane!
Same age and game I started playing. Nice to meet you haha. Funny, we've probably ploughed the same amount of time into this game.. do you have any regrets?
I put about 95 hours into the beta. There are some nice little improvements, but it's all small stuff. Honestly, the best thing is that they finally updated the number of subs allowed so I can actually give my players the playing time I promised them. It's a real shame they haven't touched the graphics at all, or worked on international football.
The other thing i think to bear in mind is that a keeper role matters a whole lot more in this. on 22, I felt like it was kind of fine setting a keeper as a sweeper keeper even if he wasn't the best at the rushing out aspects of the role. on 23, he will horrifically mess up more often and get caught out in no mans land.
I normally buy a new FM game every three or four years. I thought this would probably be the year for an upgrade, but everything I've seen about FM23 says wait again until next year. I'm having a blast with my FM19 save; I'm not going to throw that away for FM22+minor update.
Through balls are a major issue. I've only played a quarter of a season so far but there have been far too many goals scored and conceded with through balls where the defenders just give up. It definitely needs fixing.
One thing I can’t stand is that goalkeepers still don’t listen to distribution instructions, they just hoof it long no matter what the instructions are
Promises: My whole Napoli team is mad at me after a promise made to strengthen the depth in central defence, after I sold Amir Rrahmani. He was replaced by motherflippin' Alessandro Bastoni and a young talent as good as Rrahmani. Both transfers were within the promised timeframe and the promise still failed. I'm mad, they're mad, and I will never make another promise. I had really hoped they fixed these kinds of promises. Really disappointed.
The game using the corner kick routine at wide free kicks was already a thing in the very first FM I played (FM14) so nothing changed on that front. There is a reason I've always used man marking instead of going back. If it causes problems now, it means the match engine finally evolved enough to stop letting people get away with it, which I'd say is a good thing.
Even though I'm on gamepass, so I get the update on FM23 for "practically" free, I'm gonna stick to FM22 for the time now, as I don't see any reason to skip and to leave behind a paid ingame editor and vastly detailed editor data, which would have to be recreated for FM 23 first
about 6 seasons in, its harder than 22 but i like it. seems like theres not as many wonder kids and they dont come up as often when you fully scout them. high quality staff seem to be rare too so its harder to get them, and when you do they renew contract at their current club. dont know if it's better than 22, i dont think its worth upgrading if people cant justify the cost for whatever reason.
The new scouting center seemed bugged to me. Ongoing assignments ending after a week, scouts going to the wrong locations, the same analyst always being put on new assignments despite all other analysts having nothing to do. It was incredibly frustrating during the beta, and I hope that's fixed now.
Yep, you need to set them to ongoing or they end in a month or less. I do like the priority function and that you can just set a bunch of overlapping scouting missions in the same country.
The analyst thing isn't fixed. I clocked that moments into messing about with scouting yet SI and their playtesters couldn't clock it during a full cycle of testing.
Promises are still a massive issue. I signed one of my youth prospects to a new contract extension and one of the promises in there was to send him out on loan. This was in October so I assumed that would mean he would go on loan in… January. Nope, turns out I get a loan offer from Higashiosaka Rosa in the freaking J league 2 days later. When I obviously turn it down because I want to send him somewhere inside of England, he loses his mind and is permanently upset to the point where he forces his way out of the club because I broke a promise. I even sent him on loan to my affiliate in January and he was still pissed because his extension promise was broken. Absolutely ridiculous because I planned on loaning him to the EFL in January and that is what I assumed was what I needed to do.
Always remove any promises you possibly can. Remove and exclude from negotiations. Players never require a promise to send them on loan, so just remove it to avoid the headache and loan them out at your own pace.
@@TheRealGreaves Absolutely agree, but it’s infuriating that could cause such a major problem that the player forces their way out of the club and trains like shit despite being a top prospect for me. It’s not how the game should work and it’s far from a “broken promise” like the game said it was.
@@TheRealGreaves sometimes it's necessary to have this promise, otherwise the player will be against an early loan because they "just signed with the club"
Presentation is great. My team lifts the first cup they ever won in like 80 years.. and the stadium stays.. quiet... Fantastic.. just like in real life.
I have actually had an interesting experience in my BETA Save with Villareal, where I had a player who was on 35k per week be upset about wanting a new Deal. There was a lot of interest in him from PL Clubs and his Release Clause was under value. I asked his agent about the wage demands which were something between 120-160k per week. I told the agent that I couldn't pay that (I actually couldn't because of the wage cap) and just expected a team to pay the Release Clause in the next Transfer Window. After the player was in good form for a few months the agent came towards me trying to ask me for a new deal. Again the "preview" that the agent gave me said he demanded a few Promises and that the wage was supposed to be 120-160k per week. Nonetheless I entered the negotiation. I removed all the promises I felt uncomfortable with and then the interesting part happened. I actually had a wage demand that was way below the wage that the Agent told me the player wanted. Suddenly the Player asked for only 55k per week on a 5year deal with no special bonuses, only a little raise in his appearance fee and assist bonus but also a raise of the Release Clause from 75m to 110m. Obviously I instantly agreed to that. I only see four options in that scenario. 1. The Agent was bugged 2. The Player Demand in the negotiation was bugged 3. The Agent didn't know what the player wanted or tried to lie to me so that I wouldn't extend the contract 4. The Player sort of knew that I couldn't afford the new wage, so he demanded something that I could afford.
Yes, I agree with all this. The AI in the match engine is also really bad for attacking players during counter attacks. Many times they just stop or jog towards the goal and let the defenders cover them instead in running into the open areas to receive the ball and be completely free on goal with an easy pass. The improvements to the match engine with the first touch are great. I also think the high pressing/press triggers is a lot more realistic than previous years which is very nice. I also think the squad planner is pretty good. You get some feedback in the staff meetings that use the squad planner. For example "remove/add player from/to transfer list because they hade a low/high position in the squad planner". I also think it's used when you auto pick the team for the match which is very convenient.
My god, the defending is absolutely breaking me! My defenders are literally running away from the striker with the ball or totally ball watching ala this video. I can't imagine ill be giving fm23 much time if it isn't patched because I want to ram my head through the monitor when I concede like that.
There are still some concerning bugs related to lower leagues where you cannot buy new scouts even when you get promoted to the top tiers as well as manager goals not being correct as they are targetting your achivements on a league which is not the same as the one you are competing on
They really need to change the graphics, I mean Top Eleven has better visuals than FM and that's a bit silly. I think the mechanics are fine they should just improve visual things like that. Also, vizualise things like the stadium and facilities, again, things that Top Eleven already does. Improve regen faces... something other games do better as well. For a 50€ game these things have to be added.
It already starts with creating your manager. I mean yeah it doesn't really matter but starting the game with the ugliest character creation ever is a bit of a turn off.
I guess it’s not much of an excuse or reason, but personally I quite like the fact the graphics are so poor. I can’t typically afford high end PCs or laptops so I’ve always appreciated that I can run FM on a toaster. It keeps the game open for anyone to play no matter what you run it on. However to counter my own point, they could easily just have adjustable settings that allows you to run high end graphics all the way down to the classic 2D game 🤷
For someone who always simulates games on 2D I couldn’t care less. Already spending so much time on other stuff in FM I really don’t have the time for my pc to do additional work for the graphics. You’re forgetting better graphics gonna drain your pc which after a few hours in also makes other simulations in game way slower. Not everyone can effort a 1k computer
When they revamp the set pieces/if they do - they should add more in depth staff areas like Set Piece Managers and such for specific training regimes. There is so much they can expand in the game and make it more detailed.
Good God, promises in 22 were really sheety. A Torino save I did I promised Belotti that we'd sign a CB. And yeah we needed one, so I made the promise thinking it could increase the relationship so i signed x2 yth CB's, a backup CB and a starting CB, so x4 CB in total, but Belotti wanted to leave as I apparently 'failed' to sign a CB! As Belotti was Capt, many of the team became restless and also wanted to go. 🙄 Back then I needed someone to save my save!
Same with me except its a player wanting new staffs, got elite staffs and yet he still dont think it was enough, then in another time a player wanted a new goalkeeper, so i bought a good one since my main gk left anyways and yet the squad was still angry. I really want to know what fits the criteria for those type of promises cause it seem to never work for me
I still find it weird how they didn't changed anything for national teams since they were having the world cup right there and technically they had 1 more year to work for them since in a more classic way the world cup would've been in june/july so the improvement would've been implemented for fm22
I remember you were doing some video what SI Games should change in FM23, you mentioned there I think release clause exploit, and yea, it's still there in FM23, not sure why they don't fix it. It's really easy to use and to abuse and then people make easy results with bad teams because they have unrealistic release clauses.
I think you’ll notice a big change in the game when u play a much smaller club. I think playing as the under dog is a lot harder this year and because of the improved AI they seem to adapt to what your doing a lot more. They also seem to be a lot more active in the market.
Yeah, I noticed this too. I've seen a lot of youtubers complaining how the AI pick useless defensive tactics against their overpowered teams. No wonder the AI is going to the match thinking of not getting obliterated before trying to win. Playing with a mid table second division team, I've seem the AI play a lot of different tactics against me and I managed to succeed with a low block counter attack team until the moment some teams started to play defensively against me. From my experience there's a lot of gameplay variety and we can actually play defensively without being destroyed by gengepress teams. I just think the home teams are too buffed, it's better than the previous years and the smaller teams actually put a fight against the top teams, but they've got past the optimal point. Also, they really need to patch the through balls and some weird defensive behaviors (defenders running away from the ball in counter attacks/through balls)
I’m still playing my save on FM20 lol…I’ve bought FM21 and FM23 but haven’t started saves in either as I’m so engrossed to FM20 save which I’m now playing my 25th season 💪
They could improve so much more, more dynamic manager archetypes , more pressure to manage the squad , more unhappy / happy fan pressure, sponsor pressure…this game is incredibly disappointing will be skipping this year
With regards to the defender positioning, I played my Beta save with Napoli, and Victor Osimhen (19 off the ball and pace) scored exactly two goals a game (literally... no hat tricks, no one goal games). He's good, but there's definitely a problem with the match engine.
Osimhen is pretty much the perfect player to exploit issues with direct passing whether it be lofted or grounded and whether they are through balls or just regular passes because he has absurd physical & mental attributes for bullying defenders and sitting on the shoulder. It compounds all the problems we're seeing
The funny thing is… even the bad things mentioned (except the graphics) are so easily overhauled and done that they wouldn’t be enough improvements that they should make a new game :D more like a bug fix or a bigger update
So far I kinda regret buying FM23. If there aren't some big patches & updates coming to FM23 (which I kinda doubt), I'll skip next year. It simply doesn't feel that what they bring to the table year on year justifies buying a new game at full price every autumn. It mostly just feels like a database update, a few new features most of which I don't really care about and a collection of new bugs.
Happy the skin is back! I have noticed that when i hover on the player icon and the stats pop up opens, there is no longer the option of the various tabs to flick through. Is this coming back? This was one my fave features, not actually having to click into each and every player to look for some more information was a god send
I got the game for consoles playing on Xbox S...I know some of the things are different then on PC...I think the game day feel is better. One thing I can now motivate the team at halftime. Something last year that was missing. The rest of it I'll have to hold judgement until I play a season. (Doing MLS Philadelphia)
This is why I only get a new FM every 2/3 years. My last FM was FM21 and now I'm playing FM23 with gamepass. It's been fun, but there's some problems with the match engine
I've had a few weird match engine quirks with free kicks from next to the goal line (outside the box) where it is so so favoured to the attacking team and almost guarantees a goal
well, the Ted Lasso look doesnt really work i'd say, but i just realized, while seeing your profile, that you could pretty sucessfull pull off a Vito Corleone
I tired FM 19? 20? On Xbox gamepass and one of my biggest things was that it felt like the old NHL games where the puck was rails and just slid right to the player. Really glad that got that fixed. Now my problem is they stop selling previous versions of the game as soon as a new one comes out.
Seems like they always want to keep a fixed ratio of New Features / Improving Existing Ones, when that ratio can, will, and should change from year to year
I can’t express how funny it is to see zealand walk on eggshells to not disturb the white knights, we’ll keep doing this, hopefully someday SI will listen
They haven't resolved any of the issues with balls in the air at both ends of the pitch, but they've made long balls in behind even more of an issue than they were in the beta. Back threes still get massively exploited as soon as the AI switches to pumping it, they'll arbitrarily push up and play people onside even if you've specifically instructed them not too and they don't even track the wingers and strikers properly so they can just stand in a line, wait and basically goalhang. This issue compounds with FM22s problem of CBs just completely misjudging headers except they're more frequent and with goalkeeper decisions being more dynamic you can also just get varianced because he decides to come off his line way too early or too late at a completely different time as your defensive line is pushing up or trying to recover. Offensively too many players still just randomly head the ball to either receive it or shoot in the final third when it's clearly a poor option which leads to a lot of shooting opportunities being wasted, and generally too many final third balls are being played to head. This doesn't seem to be affected by player height or attributes that affect aerial ability, nor by any of the traits like "Likes ball played into feet" or "Plays with back to goal". I regularly still see players head the ball on their first touch back to the opposition goalkeeper even if they run onto the pass or receive it in space but this never occurs for the AI. There have definitely been some improvements from the Beta though. Games feel less chaotic and what they've done to midfielders in different stratas is actually working as they intended so it's a lot easier for players to receive to feet in buildup and not just immediately lose the ball and generally there aren't as many turnovers from being clattered into the back of in the middle third. There also seems to be less randomness in decision making so whilst there are still a lot of loose passes players don't make completely idiotic decisions all the time and will immediately try and recover from their mistakes with players around them being quicker to pick up on them and move to cover. Players also generally rotate positions slightly better in midfield and defense now. This seems consistent for both the player & AI and actually leads to a lot of smart interplay. Overall I can't say there aren't things I haven't quite figured out yet and will require more understanding and experience but I feel as if they just fix this issue with the AI being able to play too direct and constantly getting rewarded even if you turn off player/position opposition instructions, individual instructions and shift your defensive line and drop off then the game will be a lot more enjoyable. Currently tilted after losing 3-2 at home to Napoli in the CL though. Go in 2-0 up at HT having controlled the game excellently but within the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half they've pumped the ball to Osimhen and the entire backline has played him onside in 30 yards of space, GK comes rushing off his line like an idiot, then GK uses 1 hand to palm away a tame free kick directly to an opposition player and then stands there whilst he scores from an impossible angle with an extremely tame shot. Then the fouls and cards start coming for my entire midfield and defense including a clear dive for a penalty. This type of variance with 3-4 mistakes going against you in game is extremely frustrating when it happens regularly.
5:14 The screen Isn't new. It has existed since FM19 (Maybe even earlier but 19 was the first one I've played) and last year they moved it to the Data Hub.
This occurred during the beta so I hope it was a bug that's getting fixed. In my Freiburg save, after two match days 4 players came to me demanding a new contract. 3 of them wanted more money than I could offer them. So my whole squad was pissed after just two match days, fun 👍
I'm in the middle of a cost of living crisis there's no way i'm essentially giving 45 quid to people richer than me for absolutely nothing. Its a shame because Forest are finally int he Premier League for real and I'd love to give that a go, but it just isn't worth the money, no way.
My impressions after 11 PL games: Defense is too good. So far I've given up 4 goals in 11 games. So have two other teams in the league. That translates to like 15 goals allowed in a season. No one is doing that in the PL. Inverted wingers/inside forwards don't seem to cut inside nearly enough. They go to the half space, get stuck on the byline, don't cross with their weaker foot, and just lose the ball usually. Or if they do get past their man they usually shoot a dumb shot from a dumb angle. Just dumb. Fullbacks don't cross from the byline unless they're wide the hell open. I should not have Andy Robertson and Trent AA getting to the byline, pulling back onto their weaker foot, and passing backwards like...9 times out of 10, at least. Midfielders are too quick to take long shots rather than playing in forwards. This seems to be true even on work ball into box orders. Plusses: the match engine is great. I've been playing on comprehensive highlights just bc I like watching the games play out. There's definitely a lot more chaos and a lot less clean possession. I haven't noticed any problems with the defenders being well out of line. I like the scouting. I thought I would like the data hub but I haven't used it much. I wish I could design the visualizations to analyze transfer targets. That would be more interesting.
The difference between home game and away game is way too big. I can win by 3 goals at home against City, but lost to a relegation team by 3 goals away Not once or twice but 10 matches in a row if I don’t change the tactics, with the fact that I am managing a big team
@@vincentv1432 eh? Paradox updates and DLC always need to be used on new saves. Most of the time it's people using mods that haven't been updated to be used on new game versions that actually breaks their games...
Have they fixed the man marking bug at corners? So frustrating when your FB on half way lines charges past the player on the ball to man mark their winger defending in the box allowing their striker a one on one
Play a season with MVV Maastricht, it's the club with the least amount of money in the Dutch leagues. And they're killing it! At the moment they are one of the title contenders for the first division. Something which no one ever expected.
haven’t got to end of video yet but something that needs to be spoken about is the editor. i love using but it never changes or improves and it goes up in price every single year. it’s extortionate now.
I havent played fm because i dont have a computer. If I were to buy one, how expensive and good of a computer do you need to run a save? Without knowing I always thought you need a good computer to have many leagues, is that the case? Hopefully someone sees this and van help me
Thank you for being honest and not licking their boots like most people in your position would. We're lucky that FM's biggest content creator is someone that people from our community can trust to say the things that need to be said about the game. The game engine is for sure improving and that's very promising, but it's just not enough. I refuse to pay that much money for some new animations and a couple of other minor features. It's not enough. FM is being developed at a snail's pace and I'm sick of it. They introduce the bare minimum every year so that they can get away with reselling us an identical game, and the worst part is it has brainwashed a large chunk of us. So much so that some people even defend them. Stockholm syndrome at its finest. The FM game that we should be getting nowadays with the technogy currently available and the resources they have is probably only going to be released a decade from now, if not more.
Whats the point in alpha and beta versions if major bugs aren't addressed in final release? If 'normal' game players are picking these bugs up in a season, who are SI listening to (or not) ?? I was up for buying it this year but don't think I'll bother now, it's always like we're constantly waiting for a patch..........................and then it becomes November and the same merry go round.......
makes sense the defender cant keep up with the forward on ball in air. the forward will alot if not all times win ball and defender needs to turn and start running, the forward is facing goal and running. one of my critics is the players miss alot of first touch, ball looks like a ping pong jumping around. but am having fun with fm23 since the beta.
A week before the season ends I promise my team I would trim the size of the first team. A week later, season ends and everyone is super pissed I didn't trim the size of the team.....
The greater match chaos is going to make lower-league journeyman saves so much fun, can’t wait to see my star player with 6 passing and vision give the ball away more often lol
As someone who loves the old squad overview screen I have to say the squad development screen overall is a downgrade. They added some nice features (self sorting and future projections) however for a quick general overview of the squad it is terrible (too few players and multiple clicks to get total overview you want) and you have to manually ad and remove players quite often or it auto removes them when you don't want it. (No I DO want that top talent in the u19 in the list even after demoting him from the first team post injury/friendlies). When you do ability irrespective of role it doesn't take into account the position you are looking at. For funsies ad a midfielder in the goalkeeper list, look at report irrespective of role. 3 star goalkeeper instead of taking his best possible goalkeeper role. So I am now ignoring it.
I skipped last year because I started to see that every year is the same with no improvements. Decided to buy this year because I was feeling like playing FM again. But I'll keep doing this in the future if future versions still lack improvements. I'll probably skip FM 24 next year.
Yeah I did the same - I skipped 22 and to be honest, the new game doesn't even feel that different from 21! It's updated enough that it feels like a worthwhile purchase but only just.
Yes. FM is de facto the best football manager game. Ppl only complain because the game is released annually without any meaningful update from prev version (and sold at full price).
Sad that buying every other year feels too frequent at this point. Zero world cup improvements during a world cup year should be a giant red flag as to the future of this franchise. It's rare that companies turn it around once they go down this "selling patches at full price" road.
How come in FM23 this year I can’t have more then six panels on the tablet screen during a match between highlights, so I can track the important data during the match? Also why on the match stats panel on the left side of the screen in between highlights can we no longer customise that to display stats for things like woodwork hit, clear cut chances, short passes, long passes, distance run etc. why have they remove the ability for players to customise what data is available to them during the match?

Spoiler Alert: They did not fix the behaviour of defenders after beta. At least, not yet.
we all no they do atleast 3 patches ... so no hurry
They didn’t change a single thing from the beta.
@@slipknottin Last year they gave COVID as an excuse. This year’s lack of changes is fairly insulting. Additionally, the in-game editor is now $8.99. So we now have to pay more to fix game breaking bugs.
@@slipknottin honestly reading these threads as someone who loves FM makes me SO GLAD I don’t buy every year. This all seems so fucking stressful
I have one thought on the release of FM this year
BETA/QA testing is legitimately a job you can get paid to do.
@@heyday1233 it stopped being about passion many years ago already. Now they're just milking it without any real innovations
is there anything new in that area this year?
What on earth. Of all the things that you think will completely make this crumble you think it’s DYNAMIC YOUTH RATING???
You guys are weird. Totally agree w/ the games possible trajectory just not that that’ll be why
Weren't defenders not judging balls in the air properly all the time in 22 as well? How did they manage to make it worse
It's been the thing in FM20 lol
Kudos to Zealand for keeping the pressure on SI when his livelihood depends on maintaining some semblance of relationship with them.
how havent you played enough of the 16/17 season up until now ? 😂
how many seasons you get through in 17?
FM17 is easily the goat for me. Central play was so good in that version.
if first upgrade since FM17. you should be seeing massive changes and being overwhelmed
You’re in heaving if 17 was the last one you got! Phew!
But hey, Miles says the fact we are all still addicted means it's another W version for the SI team...
Quite tired to listen to that man by now to be frank
It’s true though as long as people keep buying the game there isn’t an incentive for SI to make any significant improvements
People should play the game on Xbox GamePass, that might hurt their sales while addicted FM junkies have their fun I guess?
Those are the soy boys of FM youtubers.
It's cause he's American!
Honestly SI are becoming the new EA. It's pathetic how little they put into improving the game yearly and still charge full price for the game. Seems like a change of leadership is needed, Miles doesn't inspire much confidence
They need some serious competition to motivate them to improve themselves
Yup, They are focusing more on the game being playable on phones xboxes and playstations instead of making the game have actually good playing expirience.
I bought the new fm and its just a waste of money
It’s the same issue with both, as long as people continue to buy them, what motivation do the devs have to actually improve the game?
It's a simple solution don't buy FM for 3-4 years.
Gotta just buy the game on every three years
Unless you have the memory of a goldfish or a serious brain injury, I don't find the squad planner at all useful, looked at it a couple of times, but it's hardly worth being the main headline feature after the licences...which I also don't care about.
The depth chart was better
@@slipknottin yeah, It was simpler and less convoluted. No idea why SI thought Squad Planner was a big deal
Even if he is on sweeper keeper on defend?
@@gianfrancoguevara5636 yes
@@gianfrancoguevara5636 I’ve only tried support but definitely on that keeping your keeper on a role he’s comfortable with is better …
As someone who likes to play sweeper keeper on attack this is a very valuable information
@@gianfrancoguevara5636 sweeper keeper on defend has worked well for me so far, with some truly awful goalkeepers in lower league management
Yeah, I'll wait til FM24 at least. Enjoying my save right now... doesn't seem to be any reason for fork out on a new game
The presentation chrome around the Champions League matchday is great, but I'll certainly watch it exactly once and then skip it thereafter.
That constant message about a gap between defence and midfield, the BRIGHT blue messages in match, keepers dribbling to midfield. Just a few
1. The Agent was bugged
2. The Player Demand in the negotiation was bugged
3. The Agent didn't know what the player wanted or tried to lie to me so that I wouldn't extend the contract
They should just make one game with a season pass, and upadate it every year
For someone who always simulates games on 2D I couldn’t care less. Already spending so much time on other stuff in FM I really don’t have the time for my pc to do additional work for the graphics. You’re forgetting better graphics gonna drain your pc which after a few hours in also makes other simulations in game way slower. Not everyone can effort a 1k computer
@@AdamSmith75th every game lets you lower the graphics. This is a moot point.
dude your transition after the advert, didnt go unoticed v good job

The main thing for me is that low and mid blocks are much better. Finally I can play like Mourinho's teams!
When they revamp the set pieces/if they do - they should add more in depth staff areas like Set Piece Managers and such for specific training regimes. There is so much they can expand in the game and make it more detailed.
I definitely think we should have set piece coaches and should be able to give them responsibility for set piece routines if you want to.
So it’s £40 for some Champions League music? Pass…
That transition from sponsorship announcement, back to the game analytics was the smoothest thing I have ever seen.
The best addition is the net ripple
SI spent everything on the champions league theme
So far I kinda regret buying FM23. If there aren't some big patches & updates coming to FM23 (which I kinda doubt), I'll skip next year.
It simply doesn't feel that what they bring to the table year on year justifies buying a new game at full price every autumn. It mostly just feels like a database update, a few new features most of which I don't really care about and a collection of new bugs.
Try refunding it, if you bought it on steam and have less than 2 hours (I believe its 2)
Happy the skin is back!
There's literally every year a problem with the game engine
The formations used menu was allready in fm22 and i believe in fm 21 as well
Thank you Z that you always speak honestly about the problems. That is so important for the future of the game!
I've had a few weird match engine quirks with free kicks from next to the goal line (outside the box) where it is so so favoured to the attacking team and almost guarantees a goal
22 absolutely blows it away atm, loads of things just seem off and clunky about it.
well, the Ted Lasso look doesnt really work i'd say, but i just realized, while seeing your profile, that you could pretty sucessfull pull off a Vito Corleone
I tired FM 19? 20? On Xbox gamepass and one of my biggest things was that it felt like the old NHL games where the puck was rails and just slid right to the player. Really glad that got that fixed. Now my problem is they stop selling previous versions of the game as soon as a new one comes out.
Seems like they always want to keep a fixed ratio of New Features / Improving Existing Ones, when that ratio can, will, and should change from year to year
Talking about loose touches and chaos. Interceptions are like 3x what a real game is like. I think it is overtuned in some way.
I can’t express how funny it is to see zealand walk on eggshells to not disturb the white knights, we’ll keep doing this, hopefully someday SI will listen
the only promise i always offer and can ALWAYS deliver is "give the youth players some play time" to the teams on the 2nd half of the league table
I was not prepared for Zealand with a moustache it incites a deep primal fear
I can win by 3 goals at home against City, but lost to a relegation team by 3 goals away
Not once or twice but 10 matches in a row if I don’t change the tactics, with the fact that I am managing a big team
I'd love Paradox to take over Football Manager and just have DLC every year instead
Then you would have to wait 6 months to play because the DLC destroyed the game.
Something which no one ever expected.

hey just wanted to say thanks for the skin you/fmenhanced you made. it's awesome.
haven’t got to end of video yet but something that needs to be spoken about is the editor. i love using but it never changes or improves and it goes up in price every single year. it’s extortionate now.
So. I still play 2021. I skipped 2022. But already, 2022 was a slight/minor upgrade from 2021. So should I jump from 21 to 23 ? :)
What’s the song used in the start of the video? Really great vibes it has
Whats the point in alpha and beta versions if major bugs aren't addressed in final release? If 'normal' game players are picking these bugs up in a season, who are SI listening to (or not) ?? I was up for buying it this year but don't think I'll bother now, it's always like we're constantly waiting for a patch..........................and then it becomes November and the same merry go round.......
The formations used vs formations faced has been around since at least fm18
makes sense the defender cant keep up with the forward on ball in air. the forward will alot if not all times win ball and defender needs to turn and start running, the forward is facing goal and running.
one of my critics is the players miss alot of first touch, ball looks like a ping pong jumping around.
but am having fun with fm23 since the beta.
If I am looking to get into Football Manager which version should I get? This new one or one of the older versions?
Just get a new one if this is ur first time
I have it downloaded, added logos, facepacks, have the day off but I really don't feel like playing anymore.
A week before the season ends I promise my team I would trim the size of the first team. A week later, season ends and everyone is super pissed I didn't trim the size of the team.....
thanks to the special effect team for editing superman's mustache in :)
Loving the ‘tache.
I thought the majestic chest hair was the peak. Now with the moustache...
Does the new Everton stadium still have 4 open corners?
Fast forward to full release, guess aht guys? NO CHANGES have been made to the ME.
The ball over the top and turtle paced defender seem to be fixed in live version, thank god that was game breaking bad.
Game aside, the zealand skin is the best skin of all the skins hands down. So thanks!
Any updates on whether newGAN will be available on this year's game?
i love it, the games in champions league, AMAZING hearing the music.
Dude your chest hair is out of control , 20 aggresion get stuck in out of control
Miles jacobsons ego is the main thing holding back fm.
Would anyone recommend this as someone who hasn’t played fm before
My guess is that you were using a skin for fm22.. also the panels in match are based on your resolution and zoom
@@SimersFM I’m playing at 4K resolution and with zoom at 85% like I did in FM22 and I can still only have six panels in FM23.
That's shocking
How much do you think I'd need to spend on a laptop to laptop to play the game with an all players database?
contracts a new and improved chore ... players demand new contracts, new playing time continuous moan about gametime or 'considering options' even if you sign them starting 'next season'
