Signing players and setting appropriate playing time expectations is super important and I think is where a lot of players get tripped up. Also since the player becomes upset they won’t play nor train as well. TLDR Managing playing time is important to keep a good atmosphere.
agree, also with that comes the expected wage too, a player expecting to be a regular starter will simply be on more money than a squad or a fringe player, a structure has to be maintained here not just for financials but the squad happiness, I can easily keep a premier league squad of 25 player completely happy all season long simply by following the advice you give here. Great tip.
Agree, but then every player I want to sign wants to be star player status. @@Eagles2020 good question. My short answer is yes. My long answer is: it depends on a LOT of things. Coaches and executives have a fairly large suite of hidden attributes outside of their professionalism, pressure, etc. While a coach can and will adapt eventually it really depends on where theyre starting at. If a coach is used to coaching a Park the Bus style of play then it will take them a lot longer for their hidden coaching stats to pick up your coaching style if youre playing a Tiki-Taka or Gagenpress. Even with a 20 adaptability cant make that jump in under half a season. You also have to factor in things like Language. When i played Football Manager for the first time, i was overwhelmed and closed the game after an hour and did not played for 6 Months. Then is was bored and gave it another chance and i watched Some videos About it. And then i got addicted. And now plays around 300 Hours each football manager game. (I started on FM19)
Wow, they've really made these games daunting. As an adult with concentration problems, and a football fan, I feel these games are now too much for me to even consider looking at.
Most important thing to tell: You are not the boss in the game. The board AND the players are the boss. If a player wants something, not giving it to him can destroy your whole season. And there will always be players whining for something. Wahhh wahhhh I only played 3 times in the last 10 games instead of 4. Now promise me something or I will fuck up your whole save wahhhh wahhhh. Oh you just encouraged me when we are already 1:0 up, but we have been playing like shit for the last 30 minutes? WAhhhh Wahhh I will now be uninterested and play even worse. Mommy Mommy the Coach just encouraged me on the field :(((( ;_; ;_;
The one that really annoys me, particular at smaller clubs, is your key players demanding a move to bigger a club and you being left with a choice between letting them go, usually for the sort of money that wouldn't cover the cost of a coffee from the pie stand, or civil war kicking off in the dressing room. I used to play hard ball but now i just let them go citing the old "no point in having people who don't want to be here" line when other players inevitably start crying about it.
@MasterKano No that’s fine, the reason for my use of literally was to highlight the improbability of me buying it yesterday, and this video being released today, but yeah, it doesn’t need to be used, you’re right.
The "Defending" and similar attributes in FIFA come from the FUT cards, which is a weighted average of some stats (similar to the hexagonal in player comparison). Last FIFA I played had 28 different attributes. Don't know if there are more or less now, but FIFA is not that oversimplified.
I started as an unemployed manager with national c badge and sunday league experience. Legnago from Italy serie C hired me. We kept the division and the next year got promoted to serie B. Then, i got lucky and finished eighth. Qualified for playoffs and the team went insane and won every match Now I'm in serie A getting mauled My tactic: is 5-2-3 SK WB BDP LA BPD WB BBM MEZ AF F9 AF
FM is the best football game of all time. Back in 07/08/09/10 I spent my life on FM, but now it’s a totally different game. It’s all so overwhelming to me now cos I haven’t played it in years cos of how it is now. I wouldn’t have a clue what to do if I played it now.
Still curious what the impact of upgrading your facilities would be. I mean I am (finally) able to upgrade my training facilities from Poor. Will i see the impact on the training and the players or is it more for better players to come to the club?
The impact of the training is better, so you'll see younger players developing faster and older players keep their quality for longer. It will also slightly improve your chances of signing better players, as the quality facilities will be one possible reason for a player to either choose a different club or demand higher wages. It's not as important as quality (ie high reputation) teammates, club reputation, league reputation or the attractiveness of your country. The main benefit is that you can develop your youngsters to reach their potential easier. There's no point in signing wonderkids, if you don't have the training setup (facilities+staff) to help them reach their potential.
FM is full of small things that combined make a large impact. Your not going to see a noticeable difference by Improving facilities by 1 upgrade, but do this a number of times plus having higher potential players and player growth will increase.
Just got to the part about set pieces. I wish SI gave us a way to tie set pieces to mentality. Too often I'm trying to defend a lead, get a corner and my players decide to flood the box and I concede on the eventual counter.
Hi Zealand, thank you for your awesome video, Do you think it will be possible in the future to have some advice about setting up a new game (choices of database...) ?
I went into FM completely blind and spent 5 years in Vanarama before we finally got a proper team and started our rush to league 1 when I finally had to look something up 😂
Sometimes problem is so simpe but sometime is complicated..complicated requires a lot of ways to find out the cause of the problem sometimes it is a tactical setting that only one set wrong will cause problems ..
I wish fm would have overalls, been playing for a long time but sometimes i think it would help. Maybe could be something that you can turn it on or off
Exactly what the star ratings are. Their by design to be a general rating, It’s up to you as a player to determine which player you prefer based on your formation their attributes and hidden attributes etc.
Would add that technically there is an overall which is called current ability. You can use the editor or certain skins to see this number in game. Knowing this number isn’t important once your comfortable in reviewing a players attributes, also it doesn’t consider current form or hidden attributes.
My cookie cutter strat is the three best aerial duelists (typically 3 central defenders or 2 central defenders and a striker) as zonaly marking the 5yard box. Then I have the 2 best defensive players aside from that (typically two fullbacks/wingbacks) on each post. Next, I set the best aerial duelist among the remaining players as "mark tall player", the best remaining offensive player (typically a short striker, winger with good finishing/composure or amc) as "remain forward", then one player that is both fast and with good passing as "lurk outside" to pick up stray balls and counter. The last two players are "mark player". It's based on how Klopp (used to?) defend corners, and it has served me very well for 3 games now. I would even say it is better now, than in fm19, when I first used it. The idea is to get the ball away from any area where there is a high xG if they manage to finish, and then make long shots difficult because there are a lot of players right in front of the goal. I typically favour defenders with high jumping reach, and I almost always have a striker with at least some aerial prowess and strength. Compared to Zealand, the general shape is with one less zonaly marking in front of the area, and I have one player remaining forward. I've heard you only need one player marking the post. But I don't know which one, and both me and Zealand plays with a marker at each post.
You scout out their attributes and make your own call. Also, your scouts tend to have better judging of ability than your coaches, which is another reason that those ratings can shift when they come into the club.
@@kristoffermatsson3816 Well yes, but like I can't scout all of the players I find when just searching for a position, how do I go down from like a lot to just 5-10 I really wanna fully scout and know I haven't missed a good one?
Stars are a good indication in who you should be looking closer at. Same with the scouting rating, use these tools to sort through your scouted players and then add select ones to a shortlist. From your shortlist you can get second opinions from better scouts if needed or just keep up with a player. You can use the keep scout reports up to date on shortlist players which I would recommend doing if some of the reports are getting outdated
@@ShinySwalot if you don't have enough scouts or want to speed up the process, offer trials. Most free agents and some contracted players will accept gladly and you'll be able to get full reports of those players in a couple of weeks.
Maybe someone can help me with this one. I'm in the 9th tier of English football (Hellenic Premier Division with Malvern Town FC). I know you can adjust the wage bill and transfer budget and the scouting budget between each other. But can you for instance move the money of the scouting budget into the overall club balance? I mean I do scouting myself with trials I do not use scouts I only have a backroom staff containing 2 persons (me and my assistant manager) I went from a budget of 600£ to now a budget of almost 4.000£ but still have a scouting budget of 35.000£ which I do not use. I do not need it in my wage bill in which I still have 8K of wriggle room and I do not spent anything on transfer fees because I only sign free agents and loan players without having to pay them any wages. So It would benefit the club to place the scouting budget in to the overall balance of the club. Is this possible? If it is possible I can invest that money in training facilities or youth facilities which would benefit the club in the long run.
Only thing you need to know. Just hire 2 scouts with knowledge of South America and send them there, you will be fine. For more pro players be sure they have knowledge of Arg and Brazil. And the second, remember, spain have rule of 2 year to gain nationality for Latinoamericans(mexico and SA). This is all, thank me later.

Anybody know how to resign as a National manager on the Xbox version? Lol. I just wanted to try it, got Serbia to ko round of world cup, wanted to call it a day, and couldn't find the option to resign. Seems to only be available for my club. 🤔 Plus, half the optionS when it comes to the player happiness and training aren't in the console version, kinda lame considering what the new Xbox can handle. The transfer budget rolls over unless your club has a poor balance. There will be a minimum transfer budget listed. Once you have a high club balance then your transfer budget will roll over and may even increase when new budgets are provided.

As a Benfica fan, I did not need to me reminded of the Porto goal vs Benfica...
Number 1, dont resign on stream by accident
When i played Football Manager for the first time, i was overwhelmed and closed the game after an hour and did not played for 6 Months. Then is was bored and gave it another chance and i watched Some videos About it. And then i got addicted. And now plays around 300 Hours each football manager game. (I started on FM19)
I subscribe to no one, but you sir have my upmost respect… subbed!
Mark o hara scored a champions league final winner !!! You are a champ man god !! I have played against mark o hara 🙈😂
Wow, they've really made these games daunting. As an adult with concentration problems, and a football fan, I feel these games are now too much for me to even consider looking at.
Most important thing to tell: You are not the boss in the game. The board AND the players are the boss. If a player wants something, not giving it to him can destroy your whole season. And there will always be players whining for something. Wahhh wahhhh I only played 3 times in the last 10 games instead of 4. Now promise me something or I will fuck up your whole save wahhhh wahhhh.
Oh you just encouraged me when we are already 1:0 up, but we have been playing like shit for the last 30 minutes? WAhhhh Wahhh I will now be uninterested and play even worse.
Mommy Mommy the Coach just encouraged me on the field :(((( ;_; ;_;
Literally just bought it yesterday
@MasterKano I would say instead of figuratively thinking of buying it after watching his videos for the last few months
The morocco jersey yayyyy
Thank you for so many fantastic videos :) greetings from germany ! your english is clean af :D
I started as an unemployed manager with national c badge and sunday league experience.
Legnago from Italy serie C hired me. We kept the division and the next year got promoted to serie B. Then, i got lucky and finished eighth. Qualified for playoffs and the team went insane and won every match
Now I'm in serie A getting mauled
My tactic: is 5-2-3 SK WB BDP LA BPD WB BBM MEZ AF F9 AF
Tactic seems a little too attacked foced for a presumably weaker team. Try incorporating more defensive roles even though u play a 5 atb.
You overachieved but as long as they don't sack you, you should be good
FM is the best football game of all time. Back in 07/08/09/10 I spent my life on FM, but now it’s a totally different game. It’s all so overwhelming to me now cos I haven’t played it in years cos of how it is now. I wouldn’t have a clue what to do if I played it now.
You have a beautiful pull my friend. This message come from France.
You have a player called Godspower Tower.
that moroccan shirt though
Just got to the part about set pieces. I wish SI gave us a way to tie set pieces to mentality. Too often I'm trying to defend a lead, get a corner and my players decide to flood the box and I concede on the eventual counter.
ayy nice shirt zea
Excellent vid! Big help!
Very new to the game and this video really helped out, thanks.
That game when Benfica’s coach Jorge Jesus knealed still haunts me
That Jorge Jesus reference hit too close to home
Sick video Z
hahahaha was not expecting jj in this video lmao
i’m 10 seasons deep in a Colchester save that i get absolutely flabbergasted when i see their starting lineup in real life
Pirlo was a Regista not DLP
Btw you can have 3 different attcking set pieces at the same time
Hi Zealand, thank you for your awesome video, Do you think it will be possible in the future to have some advice about setting up a new game (choices of database...) ?
Love the videos even tho your an American being dead good at football management. That's just bonkers. Very entertaining and very helpful as well.
I went into FM completely blind and spent 5 years in Vanarama before we finally got a proper team and started our rush to league 1 when I finally had to look something up 😂
Nice shirt you got on there 🇲🇦😍
im a simple person, I see Zealand video I watch Zealand video
Sometimes problem is so simpe but sometime is complicated..complicated requires a lot of ways to find out the cause of the problem sometimes it is a tactical setting that only one set wrong will cause problems ..
Let’s go Z🇲🇦
Number 1 on the list: Youth Rating not being dynamic? lol no im not over it yet
Stay strong Z
Nice shot at Man U. lol
Ragnick save: take control of everything except tactics and match day
How about Sports Interactive don't know the rules of football, or what players / managers are at what teams, or what divisions teams are in.........
What about when a player reeeally wants to go to Barcelona, but he's reeeeally important to your side??
I wish fm would have overalls, been playing for a long time but sometimes i think it would help.
Maybe could be something that you can turn it on or off
That’s pretty much what the star ratings are.
Amazing 🧨 😀🤘🏼
Ákos Kecskés ≈ AH-kosh KETCH-kesh 🇭🇺
nice jersey
Any tips on defending set piece? Played FM since 14 and still have no clue
Something I've been wondering for a while, if the stars aren't a good indication on who to buy, how can you easily find players like Van der Horst?
Can't find some of this on xboxx version help we don't havee dynamics
the Xbox version is a much simpler version of FM. many of the things he showed in the video were not included in the Xbox version.
Is there a limit of player in hierarchy? I got 3 player as leader, can i get more overtime?
Nope.. 3 team leaders is max
@@SimersFM thanks
For social groups is it good that all my players except from 5 are all in the same social group.
Recently i thaught about fifa. I played it long time ago and the reason is fm
Can't afford to send my scouts there from the league I'm in
me i keep my star players happy than the rest will follow suit im manageing schake 04 and i so love football manger and ive been playing it since it first came out and theres no other game i will play other than this i dont delegate anythink to my staff i do it all myself because i want my club to run my way and not the way my staff wants it run its takes me ages to set everythink up but the results you get are worth it i wont have a unhappy player in my club thats the bottom line if ur afaid to sell even a star player thats one player thats going to afect your whole team just sell him if he aint doing is job if it overwhelming to you good because it only makes you better as a manger of your team
Been half tempted to buy FM Touch on my phone since I'm on it a lot. Anyone able to offer any specific tips for it?
Anybody know how to resign as a National manager on the Xbox version? Lol.
I just wanted to try it, got Serbia to ko round of world cup, wanted to call it a day, and couldn't find the option to resign.
Seems to only be available for my club. 🤔
Plus, half the optionS when it comes to the player happiness and training aren't in the console version, kinda lame considering what the new Xbox can handle.
Most annoying thing for me, when a tactic just stops working. Players are happy, opposition hasn't changed Jack shit with their tactics, but the pass stat thing looks like the ball and all the players got stuck in the centre circle......
And here I am playing the streamlined version 😅
Would have to disagree aboue the transfer budget rolling over. Never has done for me hence why I spend it all before the new budget
The transfer budget rolls over unless your club has a poor balance. There will be a minimum transfer budget listed. Once you have a high club balance then your transfer budget will roll over and may even increase when new budgets are provided.
I heard that if you scroll your transfer budget to your payroll, it will 100% carry over next window, then you can just scroll it back.
Question Z or anyone, if I get the Z skin, can I change the settings to show GBP and say football instead of USD and soccer?
you can change the currency and language on preferences without zealand skins too.
Different levels in the game. Top team save. lower league save. Each save needs different skill set and approach. But one thing i have noticed is that people cant handle loosing. they need to win or the game is rubbish.
Bro....did you really have to mention that benfica moment...all that pain in my head again
Omg you had a shave... im sad now.. I like hairy Zealand
Akosh Ketchkash is the pronunciation of Ákos Kecskés :)
Where can I download the game
Does the zealand fm skin work on fm21
No
It actually says "Play direct soccer" in his game. I'm going to riot.
