“Making a bunch of money with no meaning behind it”. This!! It’s exactly how I feel currently in my sales job.

  • @ZackaryTiedeman
    @ZackaryTiedeman Год назад +15

I’m in a sales role right now and it feels like my soul leaves the room every time I do a demo / make calls. I try to act the part and be a “good” employee. All the while, I cant seem to close deals (meet quotas) despite working hard and having some of the highest activity on the team. I have a positive team but I just get drained every week by doing my job and always feeling like I need to do more (enough never feels like enough).
Leaving without a backup plan feels foolish but maybe there’s an aspect of faith involved? Thank you for sharing your story.

Sales is an awesome career that you can make a lot of money in. I just have absolutely no motivation to hit quotas upsell product or do any other sales activity. As a fellow young person with little debt and responsibility I need to do some soul searching because I refuse to spend the rest of my 60 year life selling shit I couldn’t care less about.

I used to cry every single day. I hated working as a cold caller "tech sales", hated my life, started hating myself and stopped eating... I had to quit and I have zero regret!

Thank you for this, I'm literally applying for a dog groomer program right now in my town because after 3.5 years in sales and the last two months doing nothing but cold calling I hate this. I want a job where i feel i actually do something good and socialize normally with people, so many in the business world are assholes too, I miss normal people.

It's wild that I'm actually watching this video but from the opposite end - I broke into a "prestigious" career that had a lot of purpose tied to it but I wasn't getting paid enough to be comfortable and after those few years I'm ready to jump into something that pays more. Plus I have experience in sales so I'm excited to dive in, it's funny how in different places it shows us what we need.

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 6 months ago about self development. Now I have 408 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessonsÀ we that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.

@@callmedenver Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my RUclips channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a RUclipsr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. Hello there from a certain person you may already know... Brave video. I respect your decisions and thoroughly understand them. Money in and of itself does not make life better. The grind for cash can be soulless and highly destructive to your life. I'm glad you are doing the things you want to do. Keep smiling :)

Been in life insurance as a side job/part time for about 2 years. Never made a single sale. My sales skills are so poor I probably couldn't give away water in a desert. In fact I'd probably still lose business to the guy who charged for it.

Im the same age as you and have half of much years of experience working in consulting after graduating and have also quit my job to travel full time and take a gap year. You made much more money than me at our age but I quit for the same reasons, I just felt like I needed to be locked into my career but it was too much because I was glued to my computer all day doing things for other people that didn’t care about me. It was a remote job and allowed me to travel but wasn’t giving me happiness. Felt a lot better after quitting and doing my own thing.

The algorithm knows! So glad RUclips suggested this because I'm in the exact same boat. I'm stuck in a job that I don't want to be in and I've been seriously considering quitting to become a full time dj. How was that transition from quitting your 6 figure job to becoming a freelance wedding DJ? Tips, challenges, advice?
Love the videos! Keep em coming!

That's crazy that the algorithm knew! I'm going to make some more in-depth videos about my DJing journey. In short, I learned you can definitely make a living being an open-format/wedding DJ. Stuff that's more club like or bars come from networking and pays wayyy less.
Let me know if you have anything specific you want me to go over in upcoming videos about the transition from sales to DJing!
      Good luck on your journey!

    • @Underdog_Basketball

@callmedenver Thank you for the reply! That's super useful information, especially the part about being able to make a living off of weddings/being open format versus clubs/bars that pay way less.
One question that I have is, how did you start building a consistent flow of wedding gigs to the point where you were able to know that it was safe to quit your job?
Oh and also, in terms of sound for wedding gigs, what kind of equipment aside from your decks do you use (speakers, mics, amps, light, smoke machines, etc)? Do clients usually ask for additional services like MCing, sound for the ceremony, lighting, etc?
Thank you so much again for sharing your knowledge!
