Thanks for the No music video. Mucho enjoyable ! Cheers ! KICT Zoe !
Great video, Sam. My college team sailed there and it seemed like the wind and weather changed by the minute most days, just like you experienced. One of my favorite memories was a very shifty day in a small regatta where the coach sent me out in heavy wind with the largest guy (240 lbs!!!) on our team for my crew. Half way thru the heat, the wind stopped dead, we were stuck waaaaay out in the middle and had to be towed back in. So the next heat, coach put the smallest, most inexperienced (also prettiest) girl on the team on my boat. I promised her sincerely that we wouldn't capsize. Sure as heck, we got a thunderstorm that rolled in like a freight train straight up the bay, put us in the drink immediately, then another 3 times before we got towed back in by race staff. I slept for over 20 hours when I got home from that one.
Awesome stuff! Would love more footage of sailing. Even if you think it's not interesting, we do!
Will do
Agree!
💯
Not even 1 second in and 0:01 my hometown of Chesapeake City where I’m typing this right now. It’s so weird when people come to Chesapeake City Maryland because we’re still such a small town although tourism is growing. It’s beautiful though. That canal is one of the best views of my life. Hope you enjoyed it there and stopped in the Chesapeake Inn or for some crab cake pizza and beer.
Enjoyable as always, thank you! Zoe is quite cool to be so into it and adventurous. That is a lot of sailing together!
Love the vids man!! Sailing vicariously through you
So glad to see you up and running and making great video.
So happy for you. Glad you get to do it.
Back in 96 I remember looking out onto the river watching boats go by while in Coast Guard basic training. It was cool hearing about Zoe's adventure:) Thanks for sharing!
Another cool look at the adventure!
Haha wow! Haven’t heard “clutch” used like that since the 80’s. Clever. Love your channel and adventures.
Great to see more of Zoey. Cool story about the drones. Awesome close up of that fixer upper lol. Can't wait for the next one.
I’ve did a trip like yours , from Jax fl to lake St Clair , I really enjoyed the C&D canal but when we rounded cape May and headed north past the Statue of Liberty, amazing!!!
2k views in 2 hours! Them numbers are climbing. Great video. Safe travles.
Looks fun. Safe travels.
As a coastie gotta love Cape May. Also ran aground getting fuel at that marina at low tide. Love the videos!
Your videos are great fun Sam. Thanks for posting!
Great video. Im happy the Coast Guard was so helpful to Zoe.
I’d always look out at the ships on the horizon from those Cape May lights. Would go to the beach at night while on vacation and it’s so cool to see the perspective from out there!
Damn Boi, dat the coolest most original and unique and gosh darn relevant avatar I ever seen 👍 Big Up and props with that . Lol. I snapped a screen to show my wife. Brings back old memories for us
Love this channel. Impressed with the chicken nachos while sailing. It would be good to see more on how you live on the boat. Cooking etc,
That's cool about Zoe hangin' with the boot camp guys and the drones!
Did you get to see Bar Harbor Maine?
Love watching your adventures, better than turning on the television. 👏🍻⛵⚓
I did!
I saw the Cape may /Lewes Ferry! I live 12 miles from Lewes. You should stop at Lewes some time. Really neat little town. It has the distinction of being the first town, in the first State.
Another great video Sam!
Good video, thanks Sam.
Thanks for the vid. You must really love that boat now. She's a good un.
It’s hanging in there.
Hey good job dude,you rock!!
Enjoyed the video.
sailing new england past nov 1 gets chilly chill, once it drops below 56 goes beyond my comfort level.. watch out for coastal rocks, esp in cape cod they appear out of no where.. it's freaky to see. fyi you got a pint of guinness here in constitution marina boston, ma
Wow Sam you Zoey are racking up the subscribers! Almost 60K now. Keep on having fun sailing sharing the adventure with us! Thanks. We need a get Sam a Highfield dingy fund going! Yew!
If your still in the NJ area. Sail north to Brigantine Island. Great place to chill for a few days with shelter. Been following your channel for a while now. We enjoy all your videos. Good luck Sam
Long gone... they’re in Maine
Excited to see your Maine videos. I'd love to see you do a simple review of the CD 28. Have you been overall happy with it? Would you consider a different make if you had to do it again?
I was born and raised in NJ. I love Cape May! Alot of fun going to the shore back in the 80s. We used to run the toll booths on the Atlantic City Expressway back then if we didn't have change. Back then they wanted exact change. Cape May is fun but this whole COVID thing has got it all kinds of effed up I bet.
I live in cape May I wish I found your channel earlier I would’ve loved to come see you!
I jump off that train bridge in the canal!
6:10 That’s a fun view.
Dude, living the life man. I’m totally envious. Zoe is the coolest chick in the world. Seriously. Rock on guys, rock on🤘🏼
It's been a real good shakedown trip!
Hey sam stuck on long island sound waiting for better weatherb seems you guys are close, heading to the bahamas
Carl
Zoe is back !
thanks for vid looking forward to new spinnaker launch
I drive over one of those bridges every day on my way to work:)
While he was going under them, I was saying to myself, railroad bridge Highway 13, Old Highway 13, and I have no idea what the fourth was
That's so clutch.
Anchor in the Manasquan River at Glimmerglass Harbor. Easy route just 45 miles south of NY
My neck of the woods! My experience with Delaware Bay is it has two states: flat calm and awful. The Cape May Corinthian Yacht Club used to be welcoming to transients, perhaps they are still? Right next to the Coast Guard station. Been quite awhile since I was there, though.
Yeah it sounds like anchoring near there would’ve been a better spot
@@samholmessailing They have a long floating dock, or did last time I was there, and are perfectly happy to have you tie up to it. And they have nice clean showers. ;-)
Happy they were nice to you at USCG Training Center Cape May, not very many Federal Military Installations are cool with people just showing up.
They have to be, since the current was strong and they know the waters there. They said there was no way Zoe could paddle upstream back to their boat. I guess it was a case of "rescue her now, or rescue her later".
Welcome to NJ
I did Boot camp there backin 82 , Golf 116 , ex USCGC White Sage WLM 544 !
Sam, rocks.....like a hurricane..
The scorpions have nothing on sam!
Be like Sam.
You're AWESOME Sam!!! Whens the next big passage? I have watched your Pacific passage about five times now.
I’m planning to cross the Atlantic in May.
Zoe is a super trooper!
Thanks for the great video! Stay safe ;O)
I have followed you from the very beginning when you left Los Angeles for Hawaii through James on sailing try Tia of course I'm using the microphone that didn't come out right but I enjoy all your videos and look forward to each one of them tell Zoe I said hi okay I hope you're having fun
Doing the canal at night a little less photogenic, but maybe daylight on the way back for comparison.
Navy base tour for rowing by was kind, could have been shot, arrested, etc.
Good stuff Sam and Zoey. Somebody mentioned that Zoey looks like Hayley Williams from Paramore, I agree.
ruclips.net/video/whPIFoZ70ic/видео.html
She really does look like her
Cape May, my husband's fave, USCG
Your gimbaled stove is a clever masterpiece, but I'm thinking the gimbal pivot point would be better placed right at the level of your cookware. Then add weight below the stove to keep it upright.
I just left Maine...had the best lobster dinner ever
It's getting colder in September and if your plans are to continue north toward Maine it'll get even colder. Too bad places like NYC & Boston aren't what they used to be, it would have afforded some sightseeing, restaurants, shopping. Update after watching the end of your vid: So you got up to Maine and turned around heading south again?? Well, always good to leave some things for the next visit. Still thinking of an Atlantic crossing?? Maybe after Covid abates??
I’m planning on an Atlantic crossing in May now. I think I will leave from NC.
Great video as always. Is the plan to head back to the Caribbean for the winter? After hurricane season? Hoping you will plan and film some nonstop long distance ocean sailing on your way back south.
I am craving a long nonstop ocean passage now. I think the best time to cross the Atlantic is going to be in May. I’m thinking I will sail the boat down to North Carolina and haul out for the winter. I’m going to get some medical stuff addressed and prepare the boat for the Atlantic passage.
06:52 Wondering if that sailboat was sunk by the USCG for doing what Zoe shouldn't have done...
Nothing more sad than an abandoned boat!
Been there!
the closed restaurant you stopped at (fish cakes) is about 5 minutes from my house!
Clutch it up!
Yeah Sam! I got agree with Tom Harrell Back there.... Zoe comes back on the boat! And you put her to work? What’s up with that? I’m just kidding too! You guys look like you have fun together. When she’s not causing trouble that is! :)
C & D canal bridge.
Summit Bridge.
Train bridge.
Roy something bridge De Rt1.
Saint georges bridge.
Route 9 bridge.
...were those dolphins at 4:28??... Coooool.....
You can hear them at 4:42
You should try st Lawrence River. One of the most difficult in the world
Flashback question...what month did you set sail for Hawaii? Your weather looked good.
April or may
Sam you are a hopeless cad! Beautiful girl comes on board and you put her to work scraping and sanding! LOL
(KIDDING YOU -I REALLY THINK YOU GREAT)
Did I say , Sam is the big boss on the reach..?
What if you used a spherical wok that sits in a hoop/ring. It could slosh along 2 axes.
Love the videos Sam. Please remember to enable closed captioning. Thanks.
Thanks. i dont have any options for that.
As long as he speaks clearly, the captions will Auto-Generate

Hey Sam,
I noticed on your Amazon wishlist that you would like an electric trolling motor. I have one that works that I can give you. You'll have to stop by Shelter Island, NY on your way south but it's right on your route. Email or call if your interested. Fair winds!

Roderick Anderson cool. Sent you a text
I like you lots because you are pure man easy to comprehend.
How did you find the current in the C&D and in the Delaware River near Salem power plant? I think I'm going to run up from Cape May to the Chesapeake next week, but I'm only a 26' with a 9.8 horsepower on it. My current plan is to run up to Chesapeake City and stay there for the night. I estimate 15 hour run.
It was pretty strong. You’ll be fine as long as you go with it.
Just so you know, I bought a saxophone because of you.
I added it to my amazon cart
Reach out if you want to stop on Cspe Cod on your way through.
Cape May forty years ago was pretty desolate other than the Coast Guard Station. I hear there any number of folks down there now. Is this true?
Yeah the marinas look pretty full down there
What is the max air-draft in the C&D Canal?
My boat is around 40 feet and I had plenty of room
A little known fact. If you motor 10' off the rocks in the c and d, you will gain 1 kt.
I would like to purchase a couple of things on your Amazon wish list. After clicking Add To Cart. Will it ship automatically to you?
Yes. I set it up to ship to my parents house in NC so ill get the stuff when I visit in a few weeks. Thanks for the support!
Ok I used your link to send a few items but since I live in Oregon and I'm a prime member but I'm currently in California (truck driver) I was sent to your registry (3rd party) I had to pay sales tax and shipping. I would like to locate your registry in the future through the Amazon App. Can you please set up a (I know this is going to sound silly) Baby Registry. I'm sure the address will be secret there too. This will avoid shipping costs and sales tax
ROBBYDOG cool thanks. Ill take a look at setting that up
You are one lucky boy Sam where do you get the time and funds
shane Dillon it’s not that difficult with no family or rent or car - an inexpensive boat paid for from the sale of the previous . Not forgetting the income Sam spoke at at 8 minutes in.
One just needs to decide what’s important, lifestyle or style of life.
He is a retired Disney Imagineer.
more Zoe!
Where in Maine are you?
Portland
Do you know any cheap marina per month in Florida?
The marinas on the waterways surrounding Lake Okeechobee are among the cheapest in Florida.
@@UUBrahman Thank you very much greetings from Argentina
Sam, just watched Adrift this past weekend, after watching your channel I could not get over how wrong they sailed that boat straight into disaster. Watching your channel has taught me so much my suspension of disbelief when it comes to sailing is forever altered.
Great vid as always. Shame you didn't Uber into the town of Cape May though. Washington Street Mall, 3 Blocks of shops and restaurants. You would have got a kick out of the Ugly Mug.
I have been to the Ugly Mug! He definitely would have liked it.
Sam I can't keep up. So Zoey jumped ship again?
Yeah I needed a break from her after sailing together for a month.
@@samholmessailing Haha... Sailing is a pirates life my friend lol. Sail on, be safe.
How can I buy a T-shirt?
There should be ads for them below the video
Sam, you're never looking at the lens and always looking slightly off to the side. Are you just constantly checking yourself out during recording?!! LOL. Love your channel. Godspeed, sailor.
6:50 a li'l wax and she'll buff up real gud!
Great video.
If you could get Zoe in at least 1/3 of the video it would get more views.
Everyone likes to hear opinions others. It makes the videos a little more interesting when diversity is added.
I think she’s a little shy, their cute together.
More Zoey
Hey Sam, Can you upload your content to brandnewtube? It is a new platform that does not censor creators like YT. Not that that's a problem for you. But still....Hope to see your videos over there. Happy sailing!
One pump on its way!
Awesome! Thanks man
Hey Sam, can you start uploading to Brandnewtube? It is a great platform with uncensored content. Much improved over YT
In my bed stuy apt just living through you (have never been on a sail boat before). If you broke down the TRUE costs of what this takes I'd be way more willing to chip in, in my brain sailing as cool as it is is just for the rich. Lets get a TRUE no BULL economic breakdown! Then u have my $$$, love ya Sam be safe! was here at 4k subs
Sure ill try to make a video about the costs. Thanks for the support.
How are you related to Zoe? Just curious.
Watch out Sam... you work your girl too hard you're gonna lose her to the Coasties, esp those Boot Camp Boys
I certainly enjoy your videos, but for the record, that was the worst reef in a main maybe ever!
