Boys and men mostly have no issue identifying with a character provided their journey is interesting/entertaining. Those characters dont have to look like them, talk like them, think like them, etc. Those are all largely irrelevant aspects of entertainment. Girls and women mostly lack that ability. So, what do they do when they have creative control over an IP? They change it to represent them. And because they're diversity hires they dont have the skill to pull it off. Maybe if they had gotten to where they are on merit things might be different.

Rey, Admiral Purple Hair, I'll give General Leia a pass but that was bullshyt, Jyn Erso, Qi'ra And The Beta Boyfriend, Baby Leia, Reva, Mando S3 was The Book of Bo Katan but at least I like Bo Katan, and we literally got a whole show of females just last year with Ahsoka. And yet they STILL make it seem like it's never been done before. Every single time.

The Christmas Special did, objectively, less damage than any large scale production Disney has made following Rogue One. It was, objectively, better written in many regards than The Last Jedi, Ahsoka, Kenobi, or Rise of Skywalker. Oh not to mention Aftermath, that book is the worst I have ever seen, it is genuinely less competent in sentence structure & vocabulary than My Immortal.
I remember when we used to mock Triclopse, a single character for a single mediocre young children's book series. It doesn't even remotely compare to what we have now suffered.

It blows my mind that so many "fans" can't tell the difference between a Sith and a Dark Jedi.
Nothing in the movies explains the difference, or even really references a difference.
The difference is that one gets called a Sith and the other dark Jedi when the story calls for it.
It’s akin to the prequels denoting Anakin being as the powerful Chosen One despite conveying the other Jedi as equal, or even, vastly superior in ability to him.
The only thing of Star Wars I watch anymore is the obituary videos like these.

They may post progressive sounding things on social media and wave the rainbow flag during pride parades, but they are not going to actually support the cause they promote. They are ultimately in for self serving purposes. So, when Disney then appeals to them, they will at best post "oh awesome" and then not support the product further. It just doesn't matter how many leeches you appeal to, you will never get anything from them.

You know what SW did for me? Opened my life to the comics that came out in the late 70s and those that came before. SW brought me to an appreciation of classical music and classic movie serials. And... Lucas' artists all inspired me to pursue art. And it began the year that my mother died in 1977.

It's absolutely spot on honestly. I introduced Star Wars to my 14 year old, we enjoyed it for a little while. Then the Sequels came out and we moved on to other things. Bluey owns the younger demo now.

One thing central to bureaucracies is the keeping of information.
I imagine a large portion of the Jedi’s time was spent doing paperwork?
Heck, George Lucas even showed us that the Jedi have their own historians/archivists in the form of the Librarian trope.
While they probably keep a lot of secrets, they don’t hide entire situations that include Jedi dying without explanation, so no one knows about it.
They’d record every detail and then classify it, so only members of the Council would have access.

@@billjacobs521 the first 25 minutes of the Phantom Menace glow with classic golden-age-adventure-film style, but once the main characters meet Anakin is when the film begins to stray - mainly because of pacing, Jar-Jar's overblown antics and almost non-stop plot exposition. The podrace and desert duel pulls the audience back in and then "boom," more god-awful pacing until our heroes come face-to-face with Darth Maul. The duel of the fates/space battle/Gungan War/Theed Palace takeback again pulls the audience back in but is somewhat sullied by silly Jar-Jar and bad child acting. I like to watch the first 25 minutes of the official version and then I switch over to the fanedit by Hal9000.
