Midiclorians only create life, presumably by creating a connection to the Force as apparently life could not exist without hearing this will of the Force (this part is vague).
I think many fans of the saga think Midiclorians ARE the Force or what is creating the Force. But the Force is still the energy field binding everything just like in the OT, kind of like the "aether" or the causal structure of the universe transmitting messages from the past/future (its will).
Midiclorians simply expand upon the original lore of the Force in OT and explain its connection to living beings. The Force affect nonliving things as well. Its effect on those things are not due to Midiclorians.

The mainstream used to make good things. Star Wars was mainstream. Lord of the rings trilogy was mainstream and on and on. That’s not the issue. There is literally nothing that isn’t affected.
You know, I'd say 99% of things I loved have had some sort of bad sequel, remake, reboot, or been totally butchered beyond recognition. And I have a varied range when it comes to TV and movie from the start of the 20th century. The 1% that hasn't been touched, it is inevitable that they will one day. I just can't do this anymore. I'm going to stick with the physical media of all those old things and just watch the originals.

SW Theory's face pretty much sums up my current feeling for Star Wars. Congrats to the activists that inserted themselves into Lucasfilm over the past decade. In prior canon, turning kids over to the Jedi was purely voluntary (or even getting tested for Force sensitivity). It was an honor to send them off, but there was nothing forcing you to say yes if your kid's force-sensitive. The Jedi also tended to scout out orphanages.
Plus if you were poor, your kid would be well taken care of and go on to do great things in the galaxy: better than growing up in a dumpster or something. Honestly pre-Clone Wars the job seemed mostly to be peacekeeping and mediation so it wasn't likely even as dangerous as being the Star Wars equivalent of a beat cop most of the time.
If the Jedi could just up and take any kid strong in The Force, there'd have been a LOT more than 10,000 Jedi in a galaxy of trillions of people during the Prequel era.
Jedis were good people. They're only flaw were that they become complacent and too rigid in their rules. They were afraid of Anakin's potential to join the dark side, so instead of helping him, they kept him away. Mace Windu seems to even dislike Anakin. Jedi also couldn't foresee a grand plan by Darth Sidious, allowing him to influence Anakin into joining the Dark side.
Disney is slowly turning them into some religious dictators who hate lesbian witch coven and who take force-sensitive children forcibly away. Since a lesbian activist is involved, I bet it's all intentional.

There was an interesting storyline in the holonet news articles prior to the release of AOTC (I think?) which dealt with a legal case of a family asking to get their child back from the Jedi. It's an interesting area of discussion, and would make for a good low-key story in a SW law genre (Coruscant cops?). But obviously it's not got enough scissoring witches to make the cut nowadays

20 years ago, an infamous Internet bully named Michael "ManoftheAtom" Sacal, who was well known for his idolatry of John Byrne and hatred of any incarnation of Superman that wasn't the 1986-1999 era of the comics, loudly and proudly claimed that Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster got Superman completely wrong and that Byrne knew the character better than they did. As far as he was concerned, Siegel and Shuster were just two dumb kids who didn't have a clue what they had created and Byrne had to fix their mistakes. And this was just ONE of many examples of comic book fans spitting on the original creators in order to prop up their sacred cows (Batman fans dismissing Bill Finger in order to deify Frank Miller being another one). The whole "death of the author" concept has been going on for a long time now. It's just going mainstream at this point instead of festering under the surface.

Except in this case I think it's true. Remember: George Lucas wants to do the sequels entirely about midichlorians and was furious that the fans didn't love how he changed the Force to be all about them in the prequels. Sometimes authors do get lightning in a bottle which they don't really understand and thus can never ever replicate.
