    It won't kill the Model Y, but the ID.3 is such a bad deal compared to this (and many other EV's). The boot space is only 318L (Model Y has more than twice the space) so that's a pass for me. Would love to see a practical station wagon based on this specs and price.

    • @FullFact548
      @FullFact548 Год назад +14

      The EV market is sadly missing station wagons or estate cars as we call them in the UK. Currently, there is only the MG5, which for the price is an excellent car. The Porsche Taycan sports tourismo and cross tourismo are the only others and aren't true station wagons as such.

    • @TheCostofAutism
      @TheCostofAutism Год назад +4

      @@FullFact548 EXACTLY what I'm saying, why would you spend 35K on a car the size of a Chevy Bolt, when you can have an MG5 Estate (Station Wagon), with LOADS more room? Sure you'll have a few speed demons that will want it for zipping around, but that's NOT mass market.

    • @FullFact548
      @FullFact548 Год назад +20

      @CostOfAutism Yes, it's a silly comparison to compare the Volvo with the Model Y as there's so much difference in size. And, I agree that most people now accept that an EV can be quick, but that still seems to be a goal for some manufacturers. Even being a larger car, the Tesla will have a better range, which is far more important than it's 0-60 time.

      And how often do you.actually drive 500 miles without a break? And if you do, you shouldn't. I (fairly) habitually drive over 1000 miles with my wife, and we swap over every 2 hours. However, we almost never swap over without doing something like having a cup of coffee, going to the toilet or just stretching our legs. That gives plenty of time for a battery top up.
      The idiots who keep on about "I'll never have an EV until it has blah blah blah range" simply demonstrate that they are incapable of sufficient self awareness to understand why they really do (or maybe should do) in their cars.
      In any case, I expect that within a couple of years, with CATL's Condensed Matter batteries or similar, 500+ mile ranges and more are going to be normal. And yes, CATL go into production with the CM batteries this year. And other companies are not far behind.
