When I was about 11 I got an entire bucket of candy dumped in my bag, but not for making the homeowner teary-eyed in a happy way. I dressed as the Rat King from TMNT with my actual pet rats on my shoulders, and at one house when they realized my rats were real the guy screamed and just dumped everything practically on me rather than in my bag, before retreating and slamming the door shut. Best Halloween moment of my childhood.
You are an Icon
you are everything i aspire to be.
as a wise man once said, "Being loved is overrated! Now being FEARED, that's priceless!"
12:05 not s+p approved was originally going to be bottles will be spun, but of course Disney didn't allow it, because it's an unsupervised teen party, so it's not that appropriate for kids. After a few emails, they wouldn't budge, and Alex eventually said fine, change it to not s+p approved, to which they replied with "not s+p approved have been approved by the s+p"
"I've been twamatized!"
Best line of the whole episode!
No that goes to I Ate A Man Alive Tonight
When you get done with gravity falls you should watch Over the Garden Wall it is a 10 episode series but it is very good (especially around Halloween).
This would be awesome!
Yes true
Came here to comment this!
Important to note: it's a 10 episode series, but the episodes are 12 minutes each. The entire series is a little less than an hour and a half long -- easy to watch!
Or Owl house
Gideon cannot be eight years old, because at a later date, we get to see what Gravity Falls looked like 10 years earlier, and at that time there was a placard advertising Bud Gleeful's used car lot having a sale, celebrating his new baby. The placard showed Gideon as an infant, and it had been hanging there long enough to be defaced by someone, calling Gideon a "demon". Who knows how long Bud left that placard up, advertising a "sale" that was likely a scam in the first place? Long enough for someone to get an accurate reading of Gideon's personality, at least. 😁
Thus Gideon must be _at a minimum_ ten years old at the time of the show.
Gideon is actually almost 10 years old
@SansFi All we know for certain is that his birthday must be some time before July 13. While _technically_ Gideon being born, Bud being photographed with him, Bud having an advert with the photo printed, the placard being hung up, and finally being graffitied _could_ all have happened in just a couple of days, it's more likely to have taken longer. At the opposite end of the spectrum, and equally unlikely, that advertisement could have been hanging there for _a year_ or more. A shop in my hometown had their "25th Anniversary!" sign up for so long, it was almost time for their 30th anniversary. 😄
and in gravity falls, all the adults have five fingers, and all the kids have four fingers. but Gideon, who is supposedly "a kid" has five fingers, like the rest of the adults
@@lov1na716 The creators kinda made a rod for their own back, when they chose to make the number of fingers a plot-relevant detail. It means they couldn't get away as easily with the usual four-fingered hands for everybody.
It's not quite as clear-cut as "Adults have five, children have four" either. Most of the _foreground_ adults have five, while a lot of the background characters have four, adult or not. The choice of whether to give a character only four fingers seems to have come down to the size and proportions of the hand and the overall figure, rather than the age.
For example, the shapeshifter in his human disguise had only four, despite being adult _and_ in the "foreground", because he wears thick gloves in this form, and giving him five (or even six, to further the illusion that he's the author) would have made his hands look quite over-detailed and noticeable.
@@SebastianWeinberg ohhh. It’s just most of the adult characters I’ve seen have 5 fingers while most of the kids have 4 and me and my brother joke around how Gideon is secretly an adult 😭. Ty for the explanation
THE OWL HOUSE. It's made by the girlfriend of the creator of Gravity Falls, Dana Terrace also Alex Hirsch (The creator of Gravity Falls) helped a lot in making The Owl House, and like in Gravity Falls Alex voices 80% of the cast. And The Owl House is agreed by MANY fans to be the "The Next Gravity Falls". I think that's enough to justify watching it
I agree
Ow absoloutely
Dana Terrace isn’t the wife of Alex Hirsch.
About suggestions on the shows: definetely Avatar:The Last Airbender (and its sequel Avatar: The Legend of Korra too); Ducktales 2017 (they too were created by Alex Hirsch and really similar with Gravity Falls in terms of atmosphere and mysteries)
they probably already watched avatar
@@13feedo Maybe. That's why i suggested Ducktales
I recommend Over The Garden Wall, that was a masterpiece!
I second this so hard!
over the garden wall was great
It's also bite-sized, only a single short season. Easy enough to work into the schedule.
Like you pointed out they will address the basement eventually, but S1 is mostly setup and character introduction for stuff that happens at the end of S1 and throughout S2 (still a good show though). As for other shows to react to if you haven't already try ATLA (Avatar: The Last Airbender) and TLOK (The Legend of Korra, the sequel to the former), The Rising of the Shield Hero (English dub) or Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun (English dub).
Avatar the last airbender is definitely a must watch
I recommend watching Infinity Train after. It's so good! Also, it's great to see that you guys are enjoying Gravity Falls!
Seeing the one guy just snuggle w/ his cat while watching is the best thing ive seen today ❤️❤️
"What shows do you want us to watch after this show?"
Well, seeing as how you guys mostly do anime, you could do some more western cartoons from the 2010s! Here's a list to get you guys started:
Adventure Time
Regular Show
The Amazing World of Gumball
Rick and Morty
Steven Universe
Star vs the Forces of Evil (you might want to skip Season 4)
Bojack Horseman
Over the Garden Wall
OK KO
Hilda
Amphibia
Infinity Train
The Owl House
Invincible
i havent watched svtfoe, whats wrong with the first 3 seasons?
@@lov1na716they didn’t say to skip 3 seasons, but to skip season 4 of the show. Why, I’m not sure because I haven’t seen it. But I’m sure I’ll understand when I get to watching it.
Amphibia is great, my sister keeps bugging me to watch it and she only bugs me about Disney shows if it's really good
Amphibia is really good! To be honest, I found it to be a slow start. But it really picks up midway through S1 (and like Gravity Falls, it lays a lot of groundwork as it goes), and when the main plot really gets going it is ON FIRE.
@@gryphonvert Well to be fair Matt Braly the creator of the show worked on gravity falls and is credited by Alex in the commentary that can be watched on RUclips as the person who made s2ep10 so great.
@@owenfautley Yes! All of the projects the GF alumni have worked on have been REALLY good (Matt Braly on Amphibia, Dana Terrace on The Owl House, and Michael Rianda on The Mitchells vs. the Machines).
definitely watch "over the garden wall" next! there are only 10 episodes but it's such a charming show and is just fun to watch. the cast is also top tier
I’d recommend watching Infinty train after Gravity Falls, It’s one of my favorite shows.
Adding to the suggestions from a lot of other people:
Infinity Train, Avatar the last airbender, The Dragon Prince (the art takes some getting used to but it's a great show and not super long) The Owl House, Over the Garden Wall. All some great solid future options. Steven Universe also goes wonderfully with GF In my opinion but it's a bit longer and hard to chop down for the copyright. I still love that they actually used Nine to Five. Glad you're having fun with this! It's a great ride
I'd recommend Vivy Fluorite Eye's song, it's short, has a compelling story, and is beautifully animated. Heavily underrated.
I love seeing anime fans react to/talk about Gravity Falls because they *all* make the Stan/Reigen comparison eventually.
My humble suggestions
"Adventure time"- A boy, his dog, and a whole amazing acid trip of a world. adventure, romance, and a lot of wacky characters. watch as he adventures through Ooo
"Ok K.O. : Let's be heroes"- A plaza full of heroes and a young boy who wants to become one. Working at a convenient store, he and his friends protect Gar's and the plaza from the Evil Boxman's robots. Many fun wacky characters in an old school art style.
"Steven Universe"- starts out cute and fun, then progressively hits you over the head with the feels. (like recent Pixar film levels of feels towards the end) Steven is half gem and now must learn to use his abilities. The rest of the crystal gems help protect beach city from the many strange occurrences.
"Star VS The forces of Evil"- Good show if you like Cute, Magic, action, and surprise feels! Watch as Princess Star Butterfly of the magical kingdom of Mewni does her best to learn her new magical skills while dealing with life as a teen on Earth along with her new friend Marco. (One of Disney's more recent and more progressive shows. Though it's not as obvious until closer to the end.)
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! ( Aka- Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!)- Adorable, Hilarious, and very colorful fun characters. An anime about a boy trying to move past his cringe middle school phase as he moves on to high school. His new upstairs neighbor is still fully stuck in said phase and wants Yutta or "Dark flame master" as he once called himself to join her in her search for the invisible boundary line.
I have more, but fear I would be here all day typing, lol
I JUST MADE A COMMENT REFERENCING STAR VS AND O.K.K.O! AYO FIST BUMP ME FELLOW PRINCESS FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION
I forgot how fun Summerween episode was!!
When they finish Gravity Falls could react to Over the garden wall is one of the best animated series of cardboard network is super good, has only 10 episodes of 10 minutes each and is a fantastic story and super creepy at the same time xD
Ducktales 2017, Amphibia, and The Owl House all are staffed by people who worked on Gravity Falls prior, and creator Alex Hirsch is a consult on TOH. Highly recommend for a reaction.
I know he had Journey 3, but I think the size changing flashlight is a great weapon of choice for Dipper, but I do love the Swiss Army knife he has too
The owl house definitely, super similar to gravity falls and Alex Hirsch voices two main characters there as well
after finishing Gravity Falls, Amphibia is a pretty good show! it recently finished its last season, and some of the crew from Gravity Falls also worked on Amphibia~ plus, there’s this one episode that’s just so great- you’ll see it if you guys watch it.
A lil Easter egg. At 9:11 if you look at the shattered glass, it’s spells: Help Soos”.
You can buy journal 3 and it does indeed confirm the existence of the invisible wizard
I suggest "Over The Garden Wall" its a miniseries.
Ducktales 2017, Amphibia, and The Owl House are my top recomendations!!
Ducktales 2017 is just an absolute delight and one of my all time favorites! It has everything! Amphibia is a lot of fun shenanigans but also tons of awesome plot! And TOH is just fantastic
Over the garden wall is another good show!
All im saying is phineas and ferb is really good and has some absolute bangers.
Omg yes
Meep
I would recommend watching “Star Vs The forces of Evil” another amazing show
Steven Universe, Rick and Morty, Over the Garden Wall are some good ones.
2:11 “Low Blow.” Unintended pun but still funny.😂
I would recommend Over the Garden Wall but you should definitely react to that during fall so I would say The Owl House, Amphibia, or Infinity Train would be a good ones since The Owl House and Amphibia where made by people who worked on Gravity Falls and both start out very innocent but later turn very angsty and dark. Infinity Train is just a very dark show in general, it was canceled because of that but still got 3 seasons even if they planned for more.
Over the Garden Wall is e great one and it only has 10 episodes!
There actually canonically an invisible wizard in gravity falls (It's in the official journal 3 that you can buy). But weather or not he was in the closet is still a mistery.
Something to note is that both Over the Garden Wall, and Infinity Train, are much more limited series. So it won't take very long to react to either of them. You could do OTGW in one sitting, or two at the most. (In it's entirety it's about an hour and a half long. 10 episodes, but they are 12 minutes each.) Infinity Train is 4 seasons, but of 10 eps each, and each episode is 11 minutes long. So it's another short series you'd get through relatively quickly.
“That joke got right to the bone.”
I can’t lie. I actually dropped my phone because of how good and unexpected that joke was, holy sh**.
Bojack Horseman remains my suggestion. Best show around imo.
The summerween episode always gave me nightmares when I watched it 🥲
Gideon's 10, the youngest he could possibly be at the beginning of the series is nine I don't know why people told you he was eight
I recommend Infinity Train and Amphibia, the concept of the show itself is very creative and the story's great.
Amphibia is also another show that builds up their characters wonderfully to set up for when the story really kicks in. Some of the creators of Gravity Falls, including the showrunner works on Amphibia
In a few more episodes, that "Invisible wizard" will bring more concern
These cartoons would all be solid for u guys: Gary's Demons, Helluva Boss (these 2 aren't family friendly), Avatar series!, Over the Garden Wall, Inifinity train, The Regular Show and Adventure time. AT is sorta childish like steven universe, star vs evil ect but only at the start. And it grew with its audience becoming a 10/10
idk what you guys have and havent seen but Avatar the Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, and Phineas & Ferb are some of my favorite cartoons from way back
Seeing Ruff in the pumpkin blazer is always a treat
I’d recommend “the owl house” its a little slow in the 1st season but the overall story is great. “Amphibia” the first season is mainly filler episodes but the season 1 finale and season 2 and 3 are just AMAZING. And finally “infinity train” it has a GREAT story, plot, comedy and the season 3 finale is… something else for a “kids” show
Owl house is sooo good and I heard good things about amphibia
Though they are still airing the owl house and Amphibia both shows are created by storyboarders from gravity falls.
Something you can watch after Gravity falls is regular show, adventure time, over the garden wall, or the owl house.
Y'all could do a reaction to Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal, The Owl House, and/or Amphibia. Mighty entertaining. Check 'em out when ya can!
0:14: Woah! I did not know that!
I think Dragon Prince, Owl House, Amphibia or The Hollow would all be good shows to go to after this one.
Dragon Prince is sort of a magical eleven adventures that is pretty dramatic and heavily plot based.
Owl House is written by Alex Hirsch's partner, Danna. It's basically a magic weird show with som great plot but a fair amount of fun fillers. Found family sort of trope.
Amphibia has some amazing episodes and a great over-arching plot, but it's usually two 11 minutes episodes and majority fillers in the beginning.
The Hollow is a sort of mystery amnesia thing that is pretty interesting in my opinion. Basically every episode moves the plot forward in some way. Odd but gripping if you ask me. (No one had really done this one though so you'd be the first)
Without spoiling plot things, there's a detail in season 2 that proves Gideon is at least 10, and since the whole series takes place over one summer, Gideon's not 8.
Don't listen to the other commenters saying to go to Owl House immediately. You'll be skipping over other great shows that are less known though are arguably better in quality. Plus, it's not even done yet; the 3 season 3 episodes won't be out until at least next year. The Owl House is great, but half of the first season isn't all that good and most people will tell you they don't really get into the show until episode 16 (of 22). If it takes 16 episodes to get attached to a show, it's better to keep it lower on the priority list. Over the Garden Wall and Infinity Train are much more consistent, and are both very short and can help pad out the content long enough to maybe catch up with Owl House just as season 3 airs. So, after Gravity Falls, follow this order:
Over the Garden Wall
Infinity Train
The Owl House
Amphibia
Depends on the person really, I got attached episode 1, Though I do agree there are a few episodes that are straight up misses for me, and I also very much want a lot of the series mentioned in these comments section to get reacted to. But considering their EXTREME enjoyment of Gravity Falls, And the fact I've been following one of them on one of their series journeys for a while now, I really wouldn't be suprised if they love The Owl House. But yeah they shouldn't watch it directly after they should probably do your list but add a few more of other series that are mentioned in these comments and they should be good to go
As a big cartoon fan I'd recommend The Owl House (which I'm currently obsessed with). It has a great and interesting world and characters. Another good option would be Over the garden wall, a 10 ep miniseries which would be great to watch for Halloween. Also I'd like to say that I really enjoy ur reactions and I'd probably be subscribed to u if u'd watch more shows that I like.
It's Gravity Falls, every character is the best character.
Infinity Train is a must-watch
Bojack Horseman, Steven Universe and Over the Garden Wall all good too
Over the garden wall if you haven't seen it. It's really good story especially once you finish it.
I've already gotten the top comment with my The Owl House recommendation but one I haven't seen at all is Regular Show, That shit was FANTASTIC and a staple of my childhood. Also O.K.K.O Let's be heroes is a really good one also Star VS the Forces of Evil (If SU is getting recommended so can SvtFoE)
All of us are dead: zombies
Girl from nowhere:supernatural
Orginals:vampires,werewolves,witches
The 1st two are kinda of short
After gravity falls I'd really recommend Over the Garden Wall, Adventure Time, and Regular Show. All just pure crack
kipo and the age of wonderbeasts
Dipper really be playing games with his life
Alex Hirsch worked on The Owl House and Inside Job
After gravity falls, I suggest watching either infinity train or the owl house. Imo they're the closest right now to being "the next gravity falls"
I don't think that was a reeses cup thrown away. I've seen these candies (can't remember name) that look like those but are coconut on the inside instead of peanut butter.
Unfortunately (and I can speak from personal experience) nothing will fill the gaping hole that Gravity Falls leaves. The closest you get is to rewatch the entire series and notice ALL THE FORESHADOWING and how earlier season one episodes HURT so much the second time around.
Next, would be the printed media like the canon comic book “Lost Legends” and the official printed copy of Journal Three.
Gravity falls was lightning in a bottle. just like Avatar the Last Airbender (a show which, in case you haven’t watched it already, I HIGHLY recommend you watch next).
After all that, I recommend these two shows for the same levels of dark and intrigue, though the humor isn’t as QUALITY as Gravity Falls:
- Over The Garden Wall- this is like a cross between Gravity Falls and a studio ghibli film in the form of a short series. The sheer atmosphere of this show is breathtaking.
- Infinity Train- if you like animated shows that are a HUGE argument against animation as a “genre” meant purely for children, this is the show. The first series is probably the safest of them all and then it just DERAILS into darkness. It’s pretty funny, but no where near as much as Gravity Falls.
After that, I’ll recommend the Gravity Falls- adjacent shows. In my opinion they can’t compare to the original, but each has its own strengths:
- Ducktales (the reboot)- if you want those found family feels of Gravity Falls, this is the show to watch. There’s mystery to uncover, and while not all of the jokes land, I found myself laughing aloud more than once. The characters grow and the dynamics between them are engaging. Also has a lot of heart. it doesn’t feel as narratively focused and precise as some of the writing in Gravity Falls, but it’s enjoyable all the same.
- The Owl House (the first half of the first season was a SLOG for me. But the second half picks up and it only gets better from there.) The writing isn’t as tight as Gravity Falls and the humor doesn’t land nearly as much, but you can feel the Gravity Falls veterans behind every scene. Bonus- Alex Hirsch voices a main character and has had a hand with the show’s own ciphers and codes.
- Amphibia- similar to The Owl House, the first season was slow. Unlike Gravity Falls where the closest episodes to “filler” are a 100% enjoyable nonetheless, the “filler” episodes in Amphibia are sometimes a miss. Halfway through the season things pick up, and since then it has really found its footing.
Honorable mentions:
- Star vs. the forces of evil- the later seasons leave a bitter taste in my mouth as the plot and the relationships begin to feel progressively more convoluted.
- Hilda (gorgeous atmosphere and world-building but nowhere near as funny and engaging)
- The Legend of Korra: a sequel series to Avatar: the last airbender that suffers from poor writing decisions and executive meddling.
- Big City Greens- this show is missing the intrigue, though it has solid continuity and paradigm shifts. That being said, this in my opinion is the show whose humor most closely resembles the effortless gags of Gravity Falls.
I am most definitely throwing out the peanut butter cups.
Not a show but I’ve been typing legobatman movie reaction into my RUclips search bar every other day for at least a month now in hopes of a new one showing up
After gravity falls, Amphibia or The Owl House is really good and is from similar creators in collaboration! :)
there actually is an invisible wizard.
Amphibia or the Owl House. Those two are great shows to watch after Gravity Falls.
BAD GIRL COVEN MEMBERS UNITE
I'm new to you guys, so maybe you've already seen it, but The Amazing World of Gumball is a hilarious watch.
amphibia and over the garden wall are my two top picks for next series both amazing
I recomend Black Lagoon, Air Gear, Midori Days, Law of Ueki and Nyan Koi.
After gravity falls, I'd say catching up with The Owl House, Amphibia, or both. They're both by Gravity Falls Alumni and have very similar feels, despite the over all premise of both being far removed from Gravity Falls.
Star vs the forces of evil
Star vs the forces of evil, amphibia, new ducktales :)
The Owl House is similar in tone - which isn‘t surprising, since it‘s made by the wife of the creator of Gravity Falls, who also voiced a main character. They also imply that Grunkle Stan had a relationship with one of the characters in TOH…so it‘s a natural continuation.
i can't be the only one that hears them say Zeus instead of Soos
You won't believe how many hidden messages are in the show
I would recommend adventure time, but idk if all the romance and the long running series suits this channel
The romance, Maybe, The length is no problem, They're watching Naruto Shippuden right now and two people here are confirmed One Piece enjoyers the length will not be a problem
You should try out Infinity Train and Over the Garden Wall, they are both excellent series!
DUCKTALES DUCKTALES DUCKTALES!!! 2017 VERSION ITS GOT A Great MYSTERY
It is a wizard in the closet. It's confirmed by the creator
Doesn’t the journal say that Gideon’s 10
10:08 As of this date (September 4, 2023), "Summerween" hasn't been broadcast by Disney XD. Is it "too scary for modern audiences"? Or just "sub-par" according to episode raters? It is also day five of Disney taking their content off the Spectrum cable TV system. I miss FX, FXX ("Bob's Burgers") and NatGeo, but Smithsonian is still on.
After Gravity Falls, plz check out Over the Garden Wall and then Owl House!! ✨
Avatar: The Last Airbender and Over The Garden Wall are "must watch" shows
After you guys finish gravity falls, i strongly recommend watching "the owl house", it's created by dana terrace and the story is really good and has a lot of mysteries in it too, also alex hirsch the creator of gf is the voice actor for some of the characters in there too, it's a really good show
Fist bump fellow witchling
Also Dana terrace is his wife
Please do class room of the elite next it is about to get a season 2 also try overlapping one of the Rick and Marty themes with the gravity falls theme.
Steven Universe and Star vs the Forces of Evil would be fun
After Gravity Falls, I wanna see The Owl House. Made by the same people who made Gravity Falls.
American dragon Jake long. tho I bet no one will agree but that s2 ep made me fkin cry.
I suggest doing Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel, The Owl House, and Centaurworld
13:51 ya Hman looks so sus bro 🐱
I personally would love to see Avatar: The Last Airbender if you have not seen that show already
I heavily suggest watching Regular Show next after Gravity Falls
