Being in this fandom during the show’s airing was a real experience. The way people were frantically pausing every shot to examine it, playing stuff backwards, and just generally dissecting every frame of this frickin show was wild. I’ve always loved that kind of stuff so I’m so glad I got to be there for it all.

Did you guys really not notice that Stan’s tattoo is a burn mark from his fight with Ford? It was literally one of the highlight of that fight scene in The Tale of Two Stan’s.

It's a lot easier to notice of you are already know there's a mystery around his tattoo to be looking for. If you watch the shorts after it can easily go unnoticed because you don't know there's a mystery behind it.

I believe Lefty is a gag that can only really be accomplished in 2D animation (and also because the GF citizens aren't that bright). Lefty is also the short I've seen the most since Disney XD was really fond of constantly showing it during commercial breaks in comparison to other shorts. There is a video of the comics that was voice acted into what amounts to an extra couple episodes. It's very well produced. The head of the project also does a podcast on Gravity Falls and they just just interviewed Alex Hersch and Ritter. Super cool.

The gide-behind actually was not invented by Gravity Falls. It is a creature, who exists as myths and legends in our world and was the "reason" why people always thought, that they were beeing watched in the woods.
A grim fact, in the old legends, the hide-behind even hunts humans. He picks one, who is alone in the forest and follows his prey, but not out of the woods. He will always hissss behind you to drive you crazy and let you loose your orientation. When you finally have a mental breakdown or come to your knees do to lack of energy, he will emerge from his hidingspot and feast on you.
Sometimes, when he is impatient, he will appear at the edge of your line of side, often behind a tree, lurking at you, but only for such a brieve moment, that you one recognize, that something big, skinny and black may be there, but at the same time qustion, if you start imagining things...
God, I love the tales of this creature!
weve seen the tattoo with the fight with ford when the portal first opened stan got burned on hot metal during the fight and it caused either a blue scar for stan tattoo'ed over it in blue so it didn't look like a burn

Mabel's Guide to Everything - you will love just as much
Maybe do a recation to the comic series: Lost Legends. They are kinda like the shorts as they are short stories that take place with our favorite characters. Also the art style in the comics is really cool!
There’s a cool dub of the comic on RUclips too so barring copyright notice you can watch it too.

In the episode where Ford and Stan are explaining their backstory, when they are fighting over the book, Ford pushes Stan into a symbol that burns his back and creates a permanent burn mark that is his tattoo

The reason they said to watch the shorts before the second season is because ein season 2 it shows a flashback of Stan and Standford fighting and Stanford shoves Stan back while they are in his lab with the portal and the exact symbol on his shoulder is also on the thing he falls onto then screams because it burns him. It's not a tattoo and he refused to show it because elater he says he knew about the weirdness of gravity falls but was trying to keep it away from his grandkids to protect them. Love this reaction by the way.
I'll be updating this as I watch. I also have the book but it's currently lost. I was decoding it for a while but life happened and now I've lost it.
Update: I think you guys have this I'm not going to continually update it throughout this video. I do have a suggestion though. They have comics that are in video form wether it's dubbed by a fan or totally silent on RUclips or other sites that "Continue" the story which are made by the creators of Gravity Falls just some people took pictures and made videos of the books together and I'd love to see you look at those on a video.
