honestly psychedelics have a profound impact on creativity. Not necessarily during the experience, but after the experience there is a major change in creative drive. This could be due to neurogenesis

Risking health, safety, even your life, for producing your art, has characterized the human experience since we began creating art. As I’ve understood it, taking drugs makes you less self-conscious/inhibited, and with that guard taken down, you will let yourself experiment and explore more…

In my experience drugs get in the way . My DOC or drug of choice was opiates . Opiates are considered painkillers but they should be called pain and emotion killers . The problem is music is SO much emotion and when you are taking a drug that kills your emotions you'll never write to your full potential . If I ever hear someone say "well so and so did it and look at the songs they wrote" , I tell them "Yeah , and just think of what they could have wrote " . Thing is drug use is not a black and white subject . I honestly believe drug use have saved peoples lives while destroying it . People get in a bad state of mind and the drug can pull them through just enough for them not to commit suicide . I'm not a advocate for that way of doing it but the truth is the truth . Like David Crosby said "The drugs got in the way"
