Adore this book. Stumbled on it twenty years ago and it changed my life. I would not be an author without it. Thanks for sharing this, James.

Excellent review. You really zeroed in on what's most effective about her system and the 12-week program, but you also identified the book's most dated aspect, which is that neuro-science has learned so much about creativity since the book was first written. I would add that neuro-science validates the effectiveness of Cameron's most important discoveries, which are the morning pages and the artist's date. Thanks for an enjoyable and super-clear review.

I've borrowed the book from the local library and now into my 2nd week. This has to be the best review out! I graduated with a degree in Māori (Indigenous) Arts. It has been really tough. I thought I try out teaching college (shadow career) but left 6mths in. Majority of us have been thrusted into more study, went back to our day job or like myself went on the unemployment benefit. I identify myself as a Shadow Artist but already after the first week I'm learning (and unlearning) things that school can never teach you.

Hello! Nice choice of video editing, it suites you very well. Thanks for the review, I shall try to apply the advice in this book and will also browse your channel. I started drawing not so long ago and I still find it hard to express myself, my inner world. I am in the copying phase, if there is such a thing. Thanks again, cheers!

Hi Farah-- the book covers a 12-week program, which is 84 days. It is very intense, so some people have made the 12 week program into a 12-month one, focusing each month on one week's theme and exercises.

How would Morning Pages compare to the Stoic Journal?
    All the best!

This is not a self-help book in the normative sense. It is simply a powerful book that can challenge one to move into a completely different state of personal expression and growth.
