Love to see your planned route. Any places you have in mind to visit. Whilst in France (if you’re still there) I recommend you visit Orodor sur glane (sp). It’s an amazing thought provoking place.
Andy182w Just crosses the border into Spain. Will be back in the south of France later. Thanks for the recommendation. Will remember that for next time. Looks really interesting!
I’m a truck driver and can relate to #1 taking the up times with the down times. Dealing with a vehicle 100% of the time there is bound to be a problem here and there. I usually just end up laughing in the down times and realizing that today is not my day, tomorrow will probably be better. And any burden/problem is usually a learning experience, which is priceless.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Our worst fears and best hopes are seldom realised. So we accept a compromise somewhere in the middle. This applies to everything in life.
If you buy a used van make sure it has under 150.000 km, if it has more do a small general overhaul on the engine BEFORE you go out. Make the van as light as possible. All that ridiculous wood people like to attach to the sides is unwise. There are a plethora of much lighter materials, the same for the cabinets. The lighter you can make it, the more you can bring along and the less the engine is stressed.
LoveofVelvet I'm sure you can do anything you really set your mind to. Being female should never stop you. Just be realistic, practical, cost conscious and enjoy your results.
Strategic Thinker I agree about the wood. But there are thin tongue and groove woods available, as well as a plastic or composite version that will accept paint.
Your solar system sounds great and a detailed run through would be great. Life is but a series of ups and downs regardless of one's situation in life. Freddie is the best and I love you including him in your videos. As a fellow dog dad, I love him bunches!
I decided to live in a van just during spring , summer and autumn! If you have the possibility to do so, do it! If it has to be during winter time, just go south , if you can! That is, at least, what I am trying to do! Keep up the good work! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻😘
Super helpful video, really engaging, we have watched loads of these and we didn't get bored ! your videography is also INSANE! We cant understand why you don't have tons more views! Definitely some of the best we have seen ! KEEP IT UP. We would like to know what you would change about the van compared to other vans you've seen, like layout etc? Do you find your bed is big enough? Is it a double or queen size? Thanks Lyd & Rich x
Hya mate, this is the most realistic portrayal of van life, that I've ever seen on RUclips. Awesome vid... I spent 2 years in a motorhome, and can vouch 100% for everything you've talked about in this video. Best wishes.....J
Hello Brett. I would be interested in the overnight camper van sites you mentioned. A look round one of the sites you stop over when traveling through France would be great. I am pleased the weather is better for you. Cheers JOhnR
Hi Brett I'm trying!!!!! Your video just makes me want to dive into van life head first. Busy getting ducks in a row. I'm in US. Had a Basenji for many years. Certainly had her own mind!!! She was very sweet though. Can't wait to see more of your adventures. Please introduce your lady to us so we may say hello.
Loving finding van videos by someone who’s Scottish ☺️ How much was the van you bought? What was the conversion cost total? Currently looking at vans on gumtree and honestly no idea whether to try a conversion. It wouldn’t be for living in full time, mainly long holidays.
Hey Brett, just wondering if your van is a left hand drive? Obviously because you’re from the Uk, what’s it like driving in Europe when you have to drive on the right?
Hey Brett, i'm living in lake district now, and i wanna build a van during this spring and summer, I can work and clean inside but I don't have a tools and skills maybe as i never build one before! how to start, any recommened person that can build for a reasonable price? kind of looking for similar planning like your van! any advise means a lot for me now ;)
Just come across your vids, was good to see the stuff you shot in and around my neck of the woods, I've spent many a happy hour over the years photographing in Roman wall country and up on the Northumberland coast, it really has a rugged beauty all of its own, thanks for showing it. Dunno where your Spanish meanderings will take you, but if you're anywhere close to Murcia check out Santiago De La Ribera, its a small town on the shores of the Mar Menor (which is Europe's largest salt water lagoon) it used to be a small fishing village back in the day and because its not on the average UK tourist trail its not rammed with expats on the lash, its got a nice chilled feel to it and the food is wonderful, or for a laugh try the mud baths a couple of miles up the road at Lo Pagan, though not sure how the furry fellah would react to seeing you guys caked in clarts. The cities of Cartagena, Murcia and Alicante are well worth visiting, just bursting with history and culture, or further up the coast Javea, Denia and Valencia, all wonderful in there own ways, enjoy your travels guys, jeez how I wish I was there right about now.
Dave at 55 deg North It’s the first time visiting there but loved it. Very interesting! We will definitely be going to the south of Spain and visiting Murcia. Thanks for taking the time to recommend places. That’s nice of you! 😀👍
Westfalia Digital Nomads Thanks. You’ll have a blast in Scotland. Great for campervans. Make sure you get to Skye...........and Harris/Lewis if you can 😀
I am going to live in a van soon but the only thing worries me about living in a van is that I go to work come home tired and see my van is stolen by travellers , how do you prevent that?? they open steering lock and wheel lock in 5 minutes
Brett Currie Hehe I suspected! I kinda liked the idea of it just being you and your dog against the world though. Great content mate, keep it up! I look forward to your next vid!
Hi Brett - Your Scottish accent is delightful, and you little dog is cute. How do you find travelling with a dog, what about pet passports. I am thinking of travelling with a cat.
David Piper Thanks so much. Travelling with Freddie is great. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Pet passport works great. Just have to make sure you’re up to date with all necessary vaccinations (for county of destination)
What would you guys like to see next?

Surely the best plan is NO plan, if in doubt just flip a coin, iv seen and found some great places by doing just that...
Maybe a video of what you do in a normal day, shopping, laundry cooking etc, ye there are many videos of ppl doing that but this is your channel...LOL
Actual van tour?
