Forget about the at times dodgy music, this is about the van build, the time, the skills, the hard work, effort and INCREDIBLE result - total respect guys.
Holes in the roof are just fine. We own an old Airstream and we’ve got three fans, one chimney, and two vents going in. No leaks whatsoever, in a 40 year old trailer.
When he said the cabinets "were 90 pounds" for a brief moment I thought "What the hell were they built with, Masonite?!?" Then realized he meant money 🤦♂️
Yes I live across the pond...
😆😆😆😆
I've got a luton pretty much the same as this van!
My one is kitted up with metal frame inside, so I've insulated in-between with foil wrap over that with plywood to the metal frame struts.
I've also got a roller shutter door as well, but I'm going to bulld a studwall about 2/3ft back from the shutter, enough room for sitting with a cuper lol.
I like the idea of cutting the middle seat out, my idea was to put a Hatch above the drivers seat, then at a later date install a sidedoor just behind the driver side.
Anyway... Great build, its given me some ideas, as I've only done two days so far lol.
Plasterboard ceiling? Not even moisture resistant
Really nice build. "Plus the solar are stealthy... now time for the windows" lol
Yeah, the windows take away from the stealth a little bit, but you could get window covers to hide the windows if stealth is really an issue. I actually saw the perfect stealth vehicle G4S van. They have solar panels as standard.
Probably less that the van is stealth more than the panels are stealth so they don't get robbed.
zogworth fair point
And chimney...
It's good to see a video of a tradesman doing this rather than some bird trying to operate a drill
"There's no wind resistance so the vans streamline"
It's a box van, with a massive flat surface at the front, a tiny solar panel lip is the lease of the wind resistance issues 😂
I think he meant against the panels themselves. less chance of wind tearing them off the roof.
It's like saying a the wall needs to be aero
Worried about the wind resistance of solar panels when you put the chimney for a wood burner stove through the roof.
@@darkkrow69 he's not trying to make the car faster her trying to keep the solar panels from being ripped off. Lile i figured that would be common sense.
How big of a difference would there be in the economy of a landcruiser jeep/box van/ hiace van? Would it be a significant difference? Trying to figure out what vehicle to use as a conversion vehicle for touring and living in for a year or two while in Australia!!
Hello fella, that is one sweet box van build. To top it off its got a bloody logburner. That is an all year round adventure tourer. Be proud of what you've accomplished. Watch this space for sure. Im gonna hit that subscribe button now. Happy travels. Total admiration...
That is wonderful!! I haven't seen Luton box conversions very often, and yours is excellent!. Please post a tour of it finished.
wonderful ??? you obviously haven't seen one done properly.. would you be happy without basic facilities.. like a toilet and shower ?
What an missed opportunity!? A perfect vehicle which is not converted to have basic human necessities as a shower and toilette. Most of van people seams to shit and shower at the gyms. I don't see this much comfortable than having a tent.
@@fibranijevidra When I was in the SAS we would shit in a plastic bag in these situations.

Oh my God, what a brilliant video to watch and at long bloody last, someone that gets it! It’s just a revelation to watch this video, for real, it’s as if someone had read my mind and made the ideal tiny home on a truck... ok, it might have been a motor home but it looks and I bet it feels like a proper tiny home. Seriously, if I had the money, I’ll be pestering the heck out of these brilliant guys to make my tiny home for me! I know they kept on saying about the offers and money saved getting their hands on materials, even the internal door from the cabin into the living space was for free, but it’s the professionalism of their finished work that makes them excellent workers, and seriously you guys ought to think about starting up your own business because seriously this is the first tiny homes builders outside the United States and Australia/New Zealand that can compete with their market, I mean even though they made this tiny home themselves, the finish is exquisite as if made in those huge factories. Seriously, if I had the money, I would ask for a little bigger truck for room for a full shower bathroom and extra sleeping loft, also I’ve always dreamt of having a dishwasher and you need that washing machine, whilst living that nomadic lifestyle. These guys are brilliant, the only one thing I would have changed, I’m afraid was the music! Brilliant video, excellent workmanship and I just hope and pray that these wicked guys are the British versions of tiny homes experts, come on you guys, you need to start your business and start selling tiny homes. Honestly, the amount of people in London alone who are looking for affordable homes so that they can save up for a mortgage, I reckon within six months you’ll be making millions, even for the European markets, they’ll be all over your business because outside America, Australia and New Zealand, there’s no proper and professional tiny houses builders, and you know that you have the skills and expertise to turn your beautifully made tiny home into a multimillion pounds business within a year, and the way you demonstrate your work, it’s clean and straightforward and I’m sure that there’s going to be a lot of young people who would love to have an apprenticeship with you as you make learning to do things look fun. Anyway, just putting my thoughts out, and seriously I can’t takeaway your excellent talent and workmanship from you, it’s evident in this video and the tiny home is so beautiful as well. Good luck in your travels. I ❤️ this video
AMAZING and long :) comment. Thank you!
Professional Punters Sorry about that, I get a little over excited
Cool build. Voice to audio track levels way off. So frustrating to adjust vol up/down
very annoying yeh
Not sure why everyone is complaining about the music. I like it. It's not that same stupid music that everyone keeps using in their videos. Very nicely done. I admire people who can actually take a concept, design it and make it with their own hands. I don't know why so many people in the comments are so critical of the design. It's not like they're living in it. You guys did a great job. I love it!
Watching this with the mute button on soooo much more effective and enjoyable WTF
I REALLY liked those gas switch levers holding up the table - triffick idea - I like the industrial look a lot 💯💯💯👍👍👍😃 and just so practical ‼️
Fantastic job guys. Thanks for sharing. A suggestion: installing your gas appliances you should get a registered installer to do it right. When you put a gas cilinder near an appliance with a live flame (cooker, stove) the gas cilinder should go in a cabinet open to the outside and sealed from the inner quaters. If you use propane (heavier than air) your floor level vent should catch any leak. If you used natural gas (lighter than air) the vent should be through the roof. In any case any leaked gas should be vented away from any source of sparks that may be produced under the vehicle or you'll end up with a rocket van-home.
Backyard Art .....
To add to the statement... a question , when filling the gas bottle , the "90%" valve here in the US would be opened / venting .
Well, as a home gas installer and not a home on wheels owner, I’m not familiar with the process of filling gas bottles in motorhomes (surely I should be, if dedicated to installing gas in homes on wheels, or an owner), or with US or Canadian regulations on the matter. To get the best answer for your question you should ask a local registered gas fitter familiar with regulations related to fitting propane in RVs and with experience in the matter, or you can ask an operator at a filling plant which is the recommended procedure when refilling a bottle.
80% limit in UK, and gas has to be in sealed enclosure with lower vent, gas pipes have to be fixed in position, all info available on legal reg's on DVLC web site (Motor Homes)
I thought it would be better to store gas bottle underneath the van.
I watched on my phone, didn’t notice massive sound difference. Loved the music choices! You gave a great perspective on what it takes to do a conversion of this size. Thanks!
What an amazing job! Beautiful conversion....more than a wee bit jealous!
Superb. Inspired me to sell my gaffe and get on the road.
How did it go... ?
Found it and I can’t stop listening to it Kant - Love Like This
Just seeing this 😮your plans and execution were phenomenal. Was intending on a shuttle bus conversion but after seeing what you and a couple of other YT have done I’m convinced that the box is the right choice for me. I hope you guys are still enjoying life❤😊
This is the single best box truck conversion on the internet. I am mindblown you were able to put such a functional and good looking space in that truck.
No
I don't think you've seen many conversions lol, this has got to be the single worst example of function and use of space I've seen.
Brilliant van. Built for comfort, not for speed. Top skills. I'm glad I got Adria to build my van before I bought it because you need way more skills than I've got.
crongratulations!! im finishing one school bus here in México, then i share with u..
Best
Rodrigo
Looks brilliant . I love the fact it is large enough to be a practical stay away vehicle, rather than a single night or weekend at most, standard van conversion.
Stealth solar panels. Adds windows. :(
I would have put skylights in, no walk windows, better stealth.
I liked the cab to van entry.
.still awesome. Just styling. Nice work.
Excellent job. Thanks for sharing. I am working on my own box truck.
Superb job , I'm curious to see if the plasterboard ceiling cracks on the joints with so much movement.
David Moore yeah im a bit sceptical on using plasterboard in camper as well. Hopefully it works ok for them though
Terrible idea. Of course it cracked. Fiberglass, wood, plastic panels, anything but drywall in a moving vehicle.
Maybe MDF panels would be better painted rather than pb
David Moore : Massive error, heavy, of course the seams will crack. Not a smart move.
Literally any other sheet material would have been better than plasterboard.
That back garage door material you took off the truck would make a great inside shower wall.
This was an ambitious build, but you did a great job.
A Luton is my plan for a camper. However, any I have done in the past I never use anything other than Tiger Seal for bonding roof or wall windows or skylights. You get it in black or white and it does NOT leak! I did a van in the rain one November. The skylight my mate had installed leaked so bad I half expected to see an Ark float out the back!!! That day, it must have been zero or less degree's, but I cut off all the silicone (hate that stuff), then applied the Tiger Seal. Boom! Job done, stopped leaking immediately and was dry in a few days. I have fitted light bars on the front roof of a van, sealed the bolts with Tiger Seal and where the cable goes through. Not a drip. Love that stuff :-)
Background music makes it difficult to hear him talking
What did you say???
Yes, very annoying.

Ahahah
Could have a been a real informative video
Rather it’s a cheesy 70’s disco video.
looks like a heavy load but you definitely did a very nice job putting it all together - the only thing I'd be worried about is gas mileage come touring - I think a project this size would be a good tiny house idea given the weight of the drywall, cast iron fireplace, cabinetry etc. Great Job Mate!!!!!
Where did you get backsplash? Unclear sound/voice plus loud background music made me unable to understand at least half of what you said.
Soundtrack is awesome. Like to Shazam something I've never heard.
That tune when there doing the door?
Did I miss the bathroom facilities? Would love to see the finished product.
that is a beautiful van conversion. I like the little wood stove as it creates a sense of coziness and warmth to the little space. I also love the flamingos and the how the bed is raised high. great job you did. thanks 4 sharing.
As a plasterer I'm curious about the ceiling. Did it crack on the joints with all the movement?
Totally gorgeous. This video has us now considering a box van. We were torn between a truck camper and a high top van, but when you build a box van out this nice, it gives you the best of both worlds. Great job.
Nice job dude! I sealed my solar panels all the way around and it caused one to crack when hitting the hotter climates. I think moisture tried to escape... maybe keep an eye on it.
See you out on the road anyway ;)
KiteVanMan thanks alot! Also thanks for the advice will keep and eye on it 👍
It tried to flex more than the silicone allowed, so it cracked.
That's a really nice build video! Thanks for posting.
BTW that wood in the connection, epoxy is about the best way to get wood waterproof. Unlike other things that "dry" by evaporating solvents, epoxy reacts with itself and doesn't create pores. But then you need to paint over the epoxy with varnish or paint to protect it from UV.
You should have never cut that roof you should have installed a rack attached to the sides to install your panels on top of Rule Number 1 never put a hole on the top of your van RV or anything it will always be a problem the chassis and the Box will twist as you go down the road and it will constantly be breaking your seals and will continuously be a problem off and on with leaks it's not really any more aerodynamic I mean the damn thing is a brick anyway and you're not going to be stealthy with Windows in it so you might as well
Wish I could find someone to help me do one :((((((
Not to mention using silicone as a roof seal. Hope they bring umbrellas...
@@paulacannon3452
Where do you live?
"The damn thing is a brick anyway", lmao 😁
Yep never use silicone on exterior
You know what that say about a bunch of blokes hanging out in the back of a van listening to techno... Seriously though, it's a beautiful build.
You cut a seat in half! It’s built like that for impact safety!
I'm looking to convert and live in a luton box van, so this video has been a brilliant insight! Thanks!
Nice van- eliminate or change that annoying music which detracts from an otherwise good job.
Music too loud overpowers the talking
We have been thinking about converting an old Frito Lay truck like this, great work.
On a serious note- wow that's how it's done. I know it's hard thing to answer, but any ideas on total hours spent on it?
The flamingos were such a welcome surprise. Perfection. Interior design spot on!
top work, you earned a sub..just wondering how did you seal up between cab and box that bit is slightly puzzling me going to build one myself soon.
My point exactly, left out very important detail... Did he use cement? Lol
Good effort guys 👍
After watching a lot of videos, it so much easier to buy a motor home !
It will be interesting to see your journey...
good to see Michael Fassbender's twin brother is keeping busy as well
It's really nice. What you got it do about the gaps in the back door and is there going to be a toilet?
DM Knapp hi thank you very much! We sealed the gaps on the exterior by installing a 30mm strip of aluminium over the gap fixed to one door. We also installed foam draft excluders around all sides. I'll try and fit this in the next video for you.
We decided not to have a toilet to make it more spacious. There are lots of campsites and public toilets on the road we have found.
Professional Punters I would also love more detail about how you made the door watertight. I'm sure you can fill an entire video with just detail on those awesome doors. Have you had it in some rain to test it out?
Lol these 2 nutters are a blast
Good workmanship and hard work makes lots of fun travelling 😂😎🤪
I can't listen to dude singing I baby all the things you mean to me. By God bless you on your journeys.
what a fabulous thing to explore the world in, brilliant.
great work guys! Love the result, and seeing all the hard work.
Looks great.
I would use caravan construction material - light, strong, easy maintenance.
Plaster and heavy wood panels is suitable for domestic situations.
Space is critical- how you arrange things, storage space. This particular van has a high ceiling that can be exploited for sleeping/storagr
Love this van conversion. Love your music too! Can you tell me who it is, please?

have u heard of shazam?
What a nice van you got. Much better than those metal transporter
Hoping for another video soon!
Ignore a lot of these cancerous people in the comments.
indeed my sister Dirty Saint ! them cancerous comments likely come from REDDIT punk ass bitches. no need to be nasty on the poor souls 1st time building a project, however they do have some good advice in there comments. Good luck to those young fellows.
Great project and video!!!
I would go for diesel heater and stowe space use for shower/wc.
Passanger seat is available for those as single and there is bracket that fits straight on.
haha plasterboard. When builders do conversions. Not into saving weight then.
Not plasterboard. More like styrofoam. Extremely light.
I saw some clowns use plaster board in a houseboat conversion lol
@@theshyguitarist 5:00 plasterboard
You pretty much did what I wanted to do including getting a Luton van instead of the typical highroof lwb transit it looks so nice man well done to you sir looks sooo compfy
looks great but I see your not concerned about weight
The van is plated for more than 3.5t, plus those grp plywood shells weigh less than the steel skin of a panel van.
Wouldn’t mind knowing what the total weight is!!?
18mm ply all the things!
Mitcy Dupres Is the goal to reach the max loading for the vehicle? There are 2 reasons you don't put plasterboard into a vehicle, one of them is weight.
@@DiscoFangFunny, I pegged these guys drywall installers and knew it was coming somewhere.
Remove the roof = leaks and that ceiling can get really nasty.
It'd be a shame, if this happened.
Great job .. many years of cool travels to come . Enjoy ..
" And remember when you are talking to yourself say NICE thing's "
Can we get an update video? Please
Wow he's really a first timer!
Great job guys but shouldn't the hinges to your doors be on the inside of the door because if there on the outside someone could just screw your doors off
Hi thanks for your message. We did spend a long time looking for hinges and these were the most suitable for the steel frame and the way the doors opened.
We did use nylon-insert lock nuts on the inside of the van, on every bolt. This means you can't undo them from the outside unless you hold a spanner on the lock nut at the other end. Without holding the nut, the bolt would just spin and not undo. So hopefully no one will be screwing off the doors!
Professional Punters wow great idea love the build I was wondering how long it took and how much everything cost. Thanks for responding.. would also love to know if your planning to build any for other people.. thanks 🤗
Melissa C so we're still finalising the total costs but it took around 2 months full time to build with 2 people (1 experienced and 1 inexperienced). Maybe in the future! But certainly not anytime soon as we're now travelling for a year 😊
If someone wants In it doesn't really matter where you put the hinges but they are a week spot quick blast with an angle grinder and the doors will fall off
Professional Punters locking pins would be a cheap, quick additional measure - at the hinge side, posts and matching holes that join up when you close the door. Take off the hinges completely... door still won't want to come off.
IMO this is the perfect vehicle to convert into an RV. You can configure it so easily.
That’s the nicest tiny home I’ve seen. Just curious, what do you do use for a bathroom/shower?
Hey thanks for your comment. Check out our van tour video to see where we shower! Thanks Fil
Very well done video. Good to have straight forward videos without all the backstory.
Looks good...but SoMuch nope going on with this build.
Also the multifuel burner is the right way to go, free wood,i use driftwood in my stove, and a bit of coal luvvly jubbly those diesel heaters are Crap, constant heat with a stove, u'l be as warm as toast, happy travels.

Songs with repetitive lyrics and hypnotic Beats should definitely not underscore a long tutorial video. Outside of that amazing jobyou all did I wish I could have really focused on what you were saying about what you were doing with the build-out but that song was driving me crazy. Awesome song, but wrong format. I didn't know if should get up and dance around or what LOL

I agree about the music, it was quite distracting. The sound levels going up and down so much throughout the video were so annoying. Having said that, what a great job you have done with the van.
Liked the music, so I appreciated the levels The track worked well, giving a vid of this length the needed pace. Good job

Amazing work! Been looking for videos on Luton conversions in inspiration for my ongoing project. Joining the cab and box has been my bugbear! Have you had any problems with the cab and box moving slightly independently of each other?
MARK BAKER Hi Mark thanks alot! We had the same worries but there's not alot you can do to be honest. We've had no problems so far. The only thing we noticed is a lot of squeaking at first but this has now settelted and almost stopped.
Mark, you need a rubber accordion boot.
Mitcy Dupres I was thinking the same thing. Like a type of car door seal but attached on both sides.
Best luton/box truck conversion I've seen till now!! Congrats!!
I'd add a shower/toilet but it is great!!!
Lol "splash back" I think he means back splash lol
I would have put money on you 2 being a couple lol pink flamingo theme and wings ..... then i saw the add for the Greece video and thought "wonder who the girl is " !! lol
let me know how solar works,as i know you need to leave a gap between the roof and the panel
In a hot country maybe.
Flexible panels are frequently glued right to vehicles though.
Great job! I spotted one major problem...You installed your water pump above the water tank, so it will need to pump air until the line is full of water (primed)... Best way to install the pump is next to the water tank under the truck; it will be self priming and will last a lot longer!
Great project, wish you'd loose the repetitive dodgy dance music though
Ever hear of pocket doors, or even sliding barn doors to save room from opening into living spaces? Would save a lot of room.
I hope you thoroughly rinsed out your holding tank, as it WILL be full of dust and microplastics, BEFORE you installed it. Mine took forever to clear. I learned a huge lesson.
