Your review was very detailed "as always" easy to understand, IMHO you are an excellent reviewer. CAH, Thank you very much for the in depth review. I have a JL Audio twk88 that is connected to my deck via optical digital input. Since that input is taken would purchasing a WiiM Pro using the Coaxial connection on the wiim and the Twk88 give me the same quality audio?

I decided to abandon Atoto-iPhone Carplay and use iPhone hotspot with this mini unit, I must say the sound quality did improve noticebly even both are spdif still made material difference, the mini has much higher output level for one, clarity is much improved as well.

    Hey Dave,
    Appreciate all of your product reviews and taking us along with you!!! I do have a question for you regarding this item. I am using a helix dsp in my daily driver with a fiio dap (m11 pro) with great results. I thought with this being pretty low in cost it may work as I install a system in another vehicle which also has a dsp. However I don't have a director (yet lol) with this other dsp. What I am wondering is if you lose volume control when coming from SPDIF or if volume can be controlled from the app or directly from the fiio. Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

    • @CarAudioHorizons
      @CarAudioHorizons  Год назад

      Thanks inappropriate it!
      You would need some sort of controller…The Conductor is a great product and doesn’t cost too much, then they have the URC.3 which is the cheapest option.
      Just curious how are you using your M11 Pro with your Helix DSP? Are you just using it via 3.5 to RCA’s?

    • @drrckhamilton
      @drrckhamilton Год назад

      @@CarAudioHorizons
      The dsp is actually the helix dsp pro MK2 (oldie but goodie) and I am going from coaxial on the helix directly to the fiio. I have done lots of listening and agree that is the best. To my ears anyway.

      Oh sorry for the confusion. I looked up my response and see that I am talking about two separate things. So I have two separate vehicles, one of which has a completely functional system using a helix dsp 3s with a conductor. No problem there. In a spare vehicle I am thinking of doing an install using a MK2 that I had before the dsp 3s but for this one I don't have a remote yet and was wondering if I would lose volume control if I only had aftermarket head unit using this with SPDIF, which it sounds like I would. To be clear the vehicle using the dsp 3s is using the conductor without any issues. I see that the URC.3 is really cheap and may go with it and try this.

    Hi Dave, this awesome device is the one i'm really interested in now for my car audio setup.
    But i'm wondering whether i can use wiim mini streamer in this kind of diagram as below:
    MiniPC (storage and render music files via Roon or Jriver) --> Dragonfly Cobalt DAC [aux out] --> to aux in of WIIM MINI STREAMER [optical out] --> to optical in of Helix V twelve.
    Look forward to your response. Thank you so much, Dave!

    • @CarAudioHorizons

      You don’t want to connect anything to the WIIM Mini Streamer. You just want to connect to it via WiFi and then use it’s SPDIF out into the Helix DSP.

      @CarAudioHorizons  Год назад +1

      @@TheTakimata Unfortunately like I said in the review this product is great but only when you connect it via WiFi and use the SPDIF output.
      You don’t want to have a wired connection because the DAC inside of it is mediocre at best. The only way to get optimal sound at home or in a car is what I mentioned above.
