This building became popular not because of the internet but this building became popular because it was used as a filming location for one of the big movie franchises in Indonesia.
I just randomly went there yesterday, when I met a British guy who told me about the church while I was standing on a line to purchase tickets for a near by temple.
You should visit Sendangsono, not far from Chicken Church, where first generation of Javanese Catholics are baptized there and Christianty blends with local culture. You should also visit Ganjuran Catholic Church in Yogyakarta (a neighboring city). There, we can see a church with unique Javanese architecture including some elements being influenced by Majapahit Empire's architecture.
In my personal opinion, Indonesia is like a maze and puzzle game. Where tourists who visit are players and Indonesia is the place to play. Visiting Indonesia is actually not just for a vacation, but for adventure and exploring. Because in Indonesia there are so many categories that tourists can choose according to their wishes. Be it nature, entertainment venues, museums, shopping centers, culture, food, drinks, and more. Not only that, in 1 city in Indonesia there are lots of tourist attractions that tourists can choose for themselves, even tourist attractions with different nuances (That's only in 1 city, not including all of Indonesia). Then you will be able to find a lot of diversity, uniqueness, weirdness and other things in Indonesia according to the way of each traveler and their respective memories. So my judgment (Personal opinion) : Indonesia is a place for adventure and exploration, not just a place for vacation. We tourists to Indonesia are players in the maze. Every city in Indonesia has different characteristics and too many categories. This is what is called an adventure game. Indonesia is perfect for tourists who are much more adventurous, discover the unique, know the great diversity, explore different natures and challenges. Full of magic. Thank you.
I'd love to build an "om dome" -- a beaten copper sphere where the echos would reverberate perfectly from the walls back to the person sat oming in the center.
My dream building has always been a temple to Bast. Built in an ancient Egyptian meets the future style it would be filled with art and sculptures, but its primary function would be to serve as a charity veterinary hospital. All animals would be welcome and public events that feature music and dance would help raise charity funds for the temple.
So there's this very iconic 2002 Indonesian Movie called Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? / AADC? (What's wrong with Cinta?). It was very popular not only in Indonesia, but also Malay speaking countries of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei After 14 years of waiting, in 2016 AADC? 2 finally came out. IT WAS A VERY BIG DEAL, everyone's talkin about it. In AADC? 2, there's a scene where the main characters watch the sunrise on top of the chruch. Maybe that's why this church is so famous. I also know this chicken church fron the movie
Was watching into the inferno documentary about volcanoes and saw this giant chicken church, I had to look this up, great story I’m so glad he brought it back to life.
At the beginning the screen graphic says Dylan Thuras, co-founder. And you 'assume' that everyone will know that he is the co-founder of Atlas Obscura?
@@m_drunk We don't but picking up a copy of one of our books or attending an event (or if you are going big time) taking a trip with us are all really wonderful ways of supporting it! Also just thank you to the both of you for thinking in this way!!)

which movie is that?
@@selfmademusic206 i think its.. AADC (Ada Apa Dengan Cinta)... the title basically means what's with love in Indonesian
But I only knew about it through the internet, never know about the movie
If you watch Indonesian movies. Most of the western world would've found out via the internet.

Well he could be the 'co-founder' of Indonesia's Chicken Church..
Jeez, who pissed in your corn flakes this morning? It's really not necessary to be so snarky.
Ya, Dove and Chicken is so different ...
thank you for the review
Plot twist:- it was an Alien spaceship that landed, Daniel is the last Chicken man
Why only 5,000 views!?!?
Damnit iFunny.. how you keep luring me into these places on RUclips
🤔Hmmmm.... My crazy dream project would be to build a huge tree house library. I'm talking 2+ acres in a forest somewhere beautiful.
Build it
Build it
Hi, fyi it's actually a dove, not a chicken.
Man build building that look like a duck
Local : yeah that's a chicken
Those chemicals at his work got to his brain ... someone tear it down please
I'm Indonesian and I don't even know this existed lmao
does Atlas Obscura have or need a patreon?
I thought they did, but I can't find it. I'd support that

This is where im going to get married
Do you, Shilo, take this church to be your succulent chicken cutlet?
@@TzadikTheManic Your done✋
Ive go there before
I wish I could heart react this video
This is an IRL Zelda Temple. You have to take a giant chicken boss to succeed.
Colonel Sanders keeps the seven herbs and spices here guarded by the giant chicken
You humanize Daniel’s vision, you note that Daniel said it wasn’t a chicken, but you keep on calling it “the chicken church.” Why?
Because that's what it's now known as. And Chicken Church flows way better than Dove Church.
You are so cute 😍
This needs. 100 Wonders at the end of the tittle xD.
$2,000 for 3.5 square miles of land in that beautiful landscape fuck me
It is not chicken, it is dove !
No, it's a turtle
its jason bourne
3.5mil rupiah is about 250 bucks btw
inflation since the time he purchased the land
It's 1992 not 2019 jeez
Aww I wanna be a chicken
Me too!!!
Hail to the chicken!
Like the beard - you're one of the few, in my opinion, for whom it improves the appearance. (No saying you're ugly, tho')
DYLAN!!! Welcome back. We missed the s*** out of you and your dimples.
What do they call it when you forget all about what is happening in Java? "Indonesia."
What in the actual Cluck 🙄🤓
They should open up a Church's chicken franchise inside.
Well ok but what was made to bring all kinds of people together is now use to make money from tourists... 🤔
HELLO DYLAN!!!
wow, Amazing , God bless to all brothers and sisters
In Jesus Christ name Amen+++
▓▒░ Correct pronunciation:
The second syllable is *Ray* - not Rah.
Ger - as in _Gherkin._
Re - as in _Ray_ of light.
Ja - Jah. ░▒▓
