Thanks for all your great tutorial videos. If I can make a request, I would love a tutorial on how to use the HSL Mask in Color Finale. Am I correct in saying that HSL Mask is the equivalent of Color Mask in Final Cut?
1 last comment. As far as I can tell, no one has a good and complete tutorial on how to use masks in Color Finale. You have a bunch of videos with only partial, and often basic, info as to what can be done with masks but no one has put it together, not even Color Finale. It’s a shame for it is such a powerful tool.
Hey Schmiddy. That’s a great question. There are a couple of difference including the mask tracker and group grading. You can see a full comparison between the two here: colorfinale.com/#compare
There is no color mask or color picker unfortunately. You can add a vectors adjustment in the layer panel to change the hue, saturation and brightness of different colors though. Hope that helps 😊
It’s just boils down to personal preference 😊 FCPX has pretty powerful tools, but Color Finale has additional tools that FCPX doesn’t have which makes certain color grading tasks much easier. For example, the mask tracking in Color Finale is not something that FCPX has built in 😊
Yeah you can. I would add an image mask to a color wheel adjustment or a curves adjustment and use the shadows, midtones and highlights sliders (or curve) to create your contrast and then apply your image mask. Hope that helps! 😊
Well it does the same thing but I often find it easier to make the adjustment so that I have a better idea of how the footage is being affected and then I apply the mask. Hope that helps you 😊

Color finale won’t work with the text method way of fixing plugins. The best thing to do is to reach out to Color Finale’s support team. They should be able to help you to get it working.
