HEY BUTTERFLIES!!! 🦋 I forgot to mention this but I measured around my lower thighs which was 32in and divided that by 4 to get the 8! Follow me on IG (elegramargiela) for BTS of tutorials and any questions! 💜
Hey hey, just few notes if you'd find them helpful (I studied fashion design). 1. the pattern is still pretty pointy at the hip and the whole side could get smoothed out into a nice curved line, while sloping down into the hips. You were right when you said our bodies are not pointy. 2. using a thicker, less stretchy material (which you mention at the end) and bagging the skirt out / having facing pieces, could have given you more solid tailored edge, like in the inspo pic Sweet tutorial either way, and a great way to get people experimenting with making their own clothes :)
Because the pattern piece only represents a quarter of the skirt. Since the garment is essentially symmetrical, you only need to draft that quarter piece and then cut out the two skirt pieces with the straight center line on a fold.
You just made this easier by having the same exact measurements as me 😭😭

Veronica Crawford aww thank you so much Veronica!! 💜
love this channel
Thank you very much ❣️❣️ so helpful 🙌🏻
if the material isn’t stretchy, would you need a zipper?
I think you would need a zipper cuz then it would be hard to put on the skirt :)

Hi😇...
Can you suggest the type of fabric
That was a good prank on your mom she was super pissed. New subbie here from your mom's page.
Great video!! I’m still a beginner but why did you divide by 4 and not 2?
Because the pattern piece only represents a quarter of the skirt. Since the garment is essentially symmetrical, you only need to draft that quarter piece and then cut out the two skirt pieces with the straight center line on a fold.
Calandra Middleton Lol exactly what she said !
Do you think this project could be done with 1 yard of fabric? great tutorial btw!
Elle Hogg it depends on your body size! But yes one yard could work depending on the fabric choice.
Where do the 32 Inches come from for the hem line
arianna pinna depends on where you want the skirt to land length wise
Where does 32” come from?
It’s the skirt length
this is such a good tutorial glad that you and @charlottefrançoise made this tutorial so i can try both!
What type of stitch do you use for a non-stretchy fabric?
Just a standard straight stitch.
Straight stitch is correct!!
Do you think this would work w a non stretch fabric? Or would it be too hard to put on since ur hips would have to fit through the waist initially
yes it would work, but then either you have so sew a elastic waistband in it or integrate buttons or a zipper into the pattern
Cat D yes a nonbeliever stretch fabric would work the best in my opinion, like linen or satin.. even denim!
What material did you use?
I’m glad I joined your channel
