One of the best reviews I have ever seen. You, Sir, really get it. I am surrounded by information and screens all day. The time in my car is my time off.
I think the previous gen S-class had the better interiors. The whole atmosphere was so soothing & shouted out 'this is what is called luxury'. I agree with the reviewer on the point that there is no replacement for tactile physical buttons for controlling something like the air conditioner or the volume controller because it's hard to navigate those options on the touch screens & aren't as handy. Mercedes shouldn't have focussed on upping the tech quotient to this extent, guess nowadays the definition or concept of futuristic automobiles is limited to plonking huge screens & adopting the minimalist approach for controls. It was already a stellar car in terms of luxury & comfort & I would have liked to see what more additions are done to improve the chauffeur driven experience because these cars are focussed to the rear seat experience more than the gizmo front. Nonetheless, it's a great product & will surely retain its title of the world's best car 😊
Same with my 328i E36 convertible. Just straight driving, while I also have the heated seats, digital climate control, nice sound system and all that, but the only slightly annoying thing it does is the harsh beeping when outside temperature goes below 3 celsius (which doesn't really happen as it's a summer car for me). Sure, not comparable to these at all in any way. But I think this much tech just makes you disoriented from driving, and no lane keeping assist will justify that.
@@alf279 why do I say my e36m3 was a stressful car? 'cause after a big day at work, I was really good to disconnect and to reconnect with real feelings.
Sit in a restaurant with tv's.....when the conversation is taking a dip or even during a conversation notice how it will draw people's eyes. All around us we have screens these days distracting people. Whole families will sit around a table not saying a word because they are looking at screens in front or around them. In a car it also draw's your eye which is dangerous and so annoying because they just cant seem to push enough of them into a car when outside a car we already have too many. Its becoming like music in a shopping mall...every damn shop you walk into sounds like a club.....its becoming just a BIT TOO MUCH!
I agree! Luxury will be less screens. I want a mechanical masterpiece like a Rolex, not a digital Casio or an Apple watch that will be obsolete in 2 years.
Nope, screen is just for convenience. Mercedes has screens on the back seat of the car too, cause it was meant to be a chauffeur's car. And has a big screen on the front for the driver to control some appliances inside the car. Morever I have never heard of this type issue related to touchscreen, lol you're just making up. Listen, I'm not a Mercedes fanboy but I can say about what all you have said doesn't make sense and especially on a car which is tech loaded for the back seat, and has infotainment system on the back seats, what's the real problem is that the back seat passengers can very much anything on the car, like even having access on controling the driver's seat and operating sunroof cause it was meant for the luxury of some V.I.P's any damn rich or important person. We know that Bentley is more luxury and classy and provides better experience than the Mercedes S-class which is supposed to be elegant and feature loaded for the comfort of customers, but don't compare Bentley Flying Spur with Mercedes S-class in case of the technology and innovation it provides.

As an industrial design student, I learned about informative and cognitive ergonomics. If a human has to interact with a device whilst keeping eyes on the road, it means that the device should be operated by interacting with other senses. Touch, sound, taste... these touch screens require eyes to operate them. That’s not modern, that’s not advanced. That’s flawed and potentially dangerous. I know car companies are anticipating not needing a human to control the car’s path, but we are not there yet!
The interior on a Mercedes is so beautiful but for some reason something seems missing I think it's the lack of the analog gauges that gives it that Final Touch of Class it looks like somebody forgot to retrieve their iPad but other than that I love it
A very honest review. Luxury doesn't mean sticking iPad's in a car which mercedes did by ruining the whole Luxury aspect. No doubt mercedes S class is a beautiful car with full of technology but they could do better with those screens and a little buttons would make it perfect.
They didn't just stick iPad in car. Mach e is what you call sticking iPad in a car. Mercedes actually integrated the screen with the centre console and made it parallel with the dashboard so yes it is luxury
The mercedes instrument pod looks like an after thought, the middle screen should be angled to the driver, the model before is better inside and better looking out side.

Plenty of differences 1) they are much bigger than your phone and set up right beside you for easy visibility and interaction while being integrated with the car compared to a phone and offers way more functionality
And why do you hate voice control when it literally allows you to do anything without even lifting a finger?
A Mercedes now is actually quieter and more comfortable than a Bentley
Well said about luxury in the Bentley....nailed it.

Base S Class vs Bentley. Seems like the victory of the Bentley was predetermined before they even started reviewing...
Well said on S class interior, I don’t like the new S class in any particular way especially since they tried to copy a Tesla interior 🙄
Which Tesla do you mean. The next next next gen Tesla Musk+. Tesla will need more 20 years of car building expierience to come to the mercedes interior beauty and build details.
I like the W222 previous generation S-Class from 2014-2020
The design of the back end of the Bentley could be better. But yes, this is the car for me.
The quarter panels are horrid
Correct man, looks like it has been sleeping with the volvo s90
Tech today just add stress... Yep.
My m3e36 was the least stressful car I ever had.
My E91 is about as much tech as I need. It’s such an easy car to get along with.
@@johndavidson3424 you are talking out of your arse
@@cryptohouse1676 wrong. Rolex is an overpriced pos just like rr and bentley
So overpriced just tells the time and isn't even good looking

The Bentley is the kind of thing you pass down for generations, the Mercedes is the kind of thing you lease.
Hey Mercedes, cancel the massage.....there you go....
Thank you.....
It's that simple 💯
It needs to be foolproof. You shouldn't have to think about it.
Yeah, but he prefers to be a bit stupid and shows that he is more intelligent than the machine and maybe, he´s not!
Keep driving that Benz....number 7
I came across the new S Class at my local dealership and it didn’t stir my brain noodles. It didn’t feel connected besides the seating. The last generation of the S class is a stunner.
Perfect analysis once again. Thank you Matt Prior. I would have the Bentley.
Maybach and Rolls Royce : Am I not enough luxurious for you 😔😔
"I can't tell it I'm stressed and it won't play whale music at me" I almost spit my food
In a right-side steering car, I think it would be a challenge for a right-handed person to operate screen functions. In a left-side steering car, operating the screen in a Tesla S and this, I imagine, are just more manageable for a right-hand dominant people.
I have a seat Leon with NO dials at all and using just the infotainment system has resulted in me nearly crashing on several occasions just trying to choose the direction the air blow .not only a pain to use but bloody dangerous
You should better drive an old vauxhall if a Seat Leon is behind your intellectual capacity. And by the way, with your capability you will never have the opportunity to possess one of these car.
@@ernstschwaig4667 You are so harsh. 😂
The Bentley's interior is amazing!
The mercedes instrument pod looks like an after thought, the middle screen should be angled to the driver, the model before is better inside and better looking out side.
How is it an afterthought? Why should it be angled? Both passenger and driver should be able to access it easily
What is that massive/ dumpyard pocket behind the cluster in mercedes ?
It's the Heads Up Display. I think it's that big because of the augmented reality technology.
Having an S class myself at 23, I just wanted peace from the outside world. This helped alot!
That mercedes steering wheel is simply a masterpiece. That is everything one could ever want
I've driven, as a salesman of luxury cars, S classes n Bentleys. Love the dials, wood in the Bs but in my country where the roads are not so fine , the S rides so much better. Some customers have both these brands , many agree. The Bentleys are bought for making a statement. Nothing wrong if one can afford it.
I have the previous generation of the Flying Spur. I never considered getting a S Class, didn't enter my mind. Not sure if, for instance I wanted an S Class, I would say to myself, hang on, I should consider the Bentley. I think the buyers are different and choose one or the other based on different needs.
That Merc interior looks like they have bolted a couple of android tablets to the dash it's awful. The Bentley is pure class inside and out so there is no comparison.
Soon, it will look like a Tesla as well.
Even only design-wise, the Bentley is 2 levels ahead of the Benz... Actually 3, I forgot this is already the new S-Class
Buttons are easier to push than trying to hit a spot on a screen. Screens are distracting.
Yep
"Now I am stressed!!!" 😄😄😄😄😄
Oh come on how many minutes of screen time will you be wasting saying 'there's a lot goin on, there's a lot goin on, before you get to it'

Dullest presenter chosen for such gorgeous machines
Totally, almost fell asleep half way through the video.
His presenting is very insulting and unfair. Im not sure if Rolls Royce dont want people reviewing their cars (I’ve seen several Rolls Royce reviews) or if they dont want him specifically plus this half ass car review channel in their cars.
He should be reviewing a Ford Fiesta.
A whole bloody comparison without showing rear seating..brilliant
That S-class interior is such a tragedy.
The tablet looking display above the driving wheel in the S Class looks random. It looks like the pop ups in the older smaller benzes.

Why is the windscreen purple on the merc
Do you think it could maybe be some anti-glare reflection thing perhaps?
A Mercedes Maybach S680 would have competed the Flying Spur way better.
I just bought the 23 S580. Quiet, comfortable and fast! Black on black with 21 inch wheel is sporty but at the same time luxurious.
Hey Mercedes. Geet me directions to the closest Bentley dealership so I can buy the new Flying Spur
Are you sure you want a worse car?
What’s with the purple reflecting windshield in the Mercedes?
Very good review! Once I saw Merc's screens a few months ago, I went, too much!
It's hard to use touch screens while driving, so much easier with a roller knob and button.
The dissapearing central screen is the best thing I would like in every new car today!
Bentley atleast gives the option to switch from the screen to the dash
Love how your outfit perfectly matches the Bentleys interior!
The most unfair review review I've ever seen. He casually reveals the Bentley costs twice as much!! Of course it wins. Ridiculous
Somebody please tell me what is that empty space behind the imstrument cluster. It bothers me so much like some unsolvable mystrey!
HUD. Cars with HUD option have something similar.
Looks like a bin.
'I didn't realise I was going to clash when I got dressed this morning'.
What, the seats are slashed are they?
What is that gaping hole behind the guage screens on the Mercedes?
The First Edition stitched into the leather ruins the interior of that Bentley.
Car reviews are usually so amateur, childish, blue collar. This was excellent. Thanks so much.
S-class is the best... THE BEST OR NOTHING❤❤❤
Benz rule them all....this is a fact
Bentley has made a car with 95% luxury of a Rolls-Royce that accelerates crazy and has a top speed of 341kph in 6th gear with 7th and 8th gear for economy cruising 🔥🔥 is definitely One hell of wizardry engineering masterpiece.
Whatever it is, Bentley is Bentley ❤️

Hopefully there will be an optional 25 inch flatscreen for the seat next to the driver because it hasn't enough screens.
that S class interior is just MEH!! they took the tesla route of sticking a cheap tablet in there and telling people its "luxury"
Mercedes have been doing this for awhile now and I really don't get it when people say the interiors look very lux. Just planting a rectangular screen with no thought of how it blends with the surrounding elements is so backwards to me. I thought the C facelift's gauges were way nicer than what they have in most of their other cars cause at least that follows the instrument gauge shape.
The Bentley steering wheel may be hand-stitched and all but the S Class steering looks drop dead gorgeous.
But there are also touchfields and very inaccurate to handle.
