      and I like it a lot, but I’ve always wanted to live at the beach. Problem is I know I’m not going to find places to rent for $3800-4000 mxn at the beach lol. 🤷‍♀️. $750 US is not bad, but it’s a lot more than I’m paying now.

    I was born in Mexico in the state of Michoacán , but grew up in the U.S. And hopefully one day I can retire in Mexico just not sure exactly where lol. Growing up in California all I heard was all negative things that happen in Mexico. But if you check all the pros and cons between both countries. I still think Mexico is the best choice.

    I worked as an Engineer in Houston for Schlumberger, made a lot of bucks, but for ethics reasons I decided to come back, I had taken so much from americans, high salary, living standard, prestige and technology knowledge, which now I'm using skills learned and applying them in México, live happily in México. So happy you guys are moving to México. If you are happier here and can take advantage of stretching your retirement money and salary in México go ahead. BE HAPPY! I spent 3 months in playa last winter on the other side of the hwy. I never had a problem getting around and living like it was home. I didn’t get harassed by anyone. However, if you live further from the beach, get your Spanish up and watch out for the cab drivers, their prices are never consistent. All in all it’s a good retirement spot for anyone trying to flee the US.

    I lived there for a couple of months in 2010. It was crowded and glitzy-commercial. My bike got stolen immediately. Literal boatloads of cruise-ship people get off to shop there. There was a Walmart, that was exciting. And a Spanish language school called Solexico which was really fun. It was hot AF by July.

We are going to playa next month to check it out mainly to retire there, I'm 57 my hubby is 61 we don't wanna live in south FL anymore too expensive and horrible traffic.. 😢 My question i is? • @ModernAging
      @ModernAging  2 года назад +3

      re: having a car - it really depends on where you live. if you live in downtown Playa , most everything is accessible by walking or biking, and hten you can take cabs or buses or other stuff. I have a friend who lives there who rents a car everytime he wants to go somewhere far...which has been convenient since he doesn't have to worry about owning a car.

    As I sit here in my studio ($1,100 a month plus electric) in Playa, I can safely say that you are NOT getting a one bedroom apartment south of 307 for less than $1,200 US a month for a minimum of 6 months. There are some cheaper new places north of 307, but there you will want a car. I'll be here five months. My nephew waited too long to commit (digital nomad was in MXC and Medellin) and is paying $2,500 a month plus electric for a two bedroom. I will vacate end of April and head back to Michigan. With climate change the summer months are extremely hot and humid. but prices drop way down. First couple weeks of December were toasty too. Very pleasant right now though. I have a rusty old beach cruiser that I ride everywhere. That's the way to roll around town. I used to go to Maui for a few weeks every year - since 1983. Now, $1,100 will buy you _maybe_ a few days there. This is a wonderful place! Great food, beaches, music, and lots and lots of police patrolling. Hopefully, the train will be running up and down the coast this next year. The first segment just had its inaugural run last week. Fly into CUN and take the ADO bus to Playa. 250 pesos, new, AC, comfortable and a john. Taxis are very very expensive.
