Love your video, man, but with love and respect, may I make a suggestion. If you don't use a remote mic, KILL the music; just too hard to hear you. Thanks for vid anyway.

Ask a local realtor. I’ve been going down to Playa Del Carmen for 20 years. Realtors will help you find a place to rent or the work staff that in the restaurants and so forth, will be happy to tell you who to talk to you and how it works down there. If you’re doing it online, be careful.

Was it furnished or did you furnish it yourself? Was this long-term or short term rental?

    • @1WorldWideWes

Every place I used was already furnished!

Thanks for the information! I will take your advice and walk around to find an apartment when i move there. What neighborhoods do you recommend? I would like to be able to walk to grocery stores and/or farmer's markets.

Hi, there are different grocery stores and markets on many streets throughout Playa del Carmen so need to worry about that. Where you live is based on your preference of local living. Centro is more touristy and Colossal is more local style living. Both are good options!

Hi! Thank you for the informative video! Is Lexus a common car in Playa or would driving one stick out?

helpful....what additional fees (e.g.contract fee, security deposit) did you pay to move into the apartment (apart from first months rent)?

Hmm just found this video. Cool :) Thanks for the Facebook Marketplace suggestion - lots of deals there. But I can't exactly reserve one while at home in Canada, right? Actually have to be there. I take it that you started off with a Airbnb when you first got there? It'd be nice to find one that allows month-by-month no contract rent that is furnished if I can.

Great videos, may I ask do they require payment in US dollars or Pesos ? I often see prices in US dollars quoted, if it is US dollars what is the best way to withraw US dollars - is there ATMs or banks that allow this ? I am from NZ and looking to travel there

    • @yestohappiness2721

You should be very suspicious if they ask in US $$ - you always pay in the local currency (pesos). For US people we have a way to get pesos from ATM without paying ATM fees (through Charles Schwab checking & debit card), but other countries may not have access to that - so you will need to withdraw from ATM every month. There are some limits per day (like 5K or 6K pesos, not sure since we never took out more than 2K at a time - didn't care to take much since we pay no fees and it is safer to take a small amount every time like if someone follows us etc etc). So you might need to go to ATM for several days and take pesos out to give to the landlord.

I really dont care for abnb.....fees...cost....wow...I paid on one for up to 29 days but when I got there I couldn't stay. Too far from stores, buses, needed a car, no hot water, cats are front door, etc....couldn't get funds returned. Smh
