R.O.B. KASERNE, U.S. Army active duty, Ktown Germany, 1978. Drinking, or just pondering life and where I was going to go and do. Alone in my thoughts with this song. It moves me to this day! Went back to R.O.B. a year ago, so very different. The memories are all that remain, and this song!
1978,First time i heard this 'Cahedral' when i was freshman,,, my Fratbrothers were practicing as one of their entries of University's Battle of the Bands.Luckily we won!
I was first introduced to this listening to the radio while taking good care of the corn harvest that my grandparents received as a share of their farm in Los Arcos at around lunch break. I took to liking this song ever since. Great band good vibes.
Oh my goodness gracious.. I have been singing this song in my head for so long... The pictures in my brain make me feel like I understand the Templars...but haven't we all have felt the same, soft, wonderful flight of spirit... or maybe not. I have driven hundreds of miles listening to this music and flying (but not ever getting stopped by the highway patrol. (Thanks and praise to the most high) I truly wish we could have more.
I saw CSN in Springfield MA., Daylight Again Tour. They were absolutely awesome! I believe it was in the 80's, and it will always be one of the best concerts I ever went to.
I became reacquainted with this song recently after going to the Musee Des Arts et Metiers in Paris - where they have airplanes hanging from the ceiling of a de-frocked church - flying in the cathedral!
I love this song. sishults you are just revealing your ignorance. There is a beautiful cathedral in England in Winchester- many people have died in the UK for religion over their 1000 year history. And Stonehenge exists... Whether or not they were on acid- doesn't matter. it speaks to many people on many levels-not just yours.
The song may be about a bad acid trip but it has a much deeper metaphoric meaning. The “People fighting dragons and crossing swords” is a representation of the early Christian’s in England during the reign of the Romano British Empire just preceding the Saxon invasions of England following the gradual collapse of the Western Roman Empire, these people were justified in fighting in the name of Christ as they were defending their home and their religion.
I was a teenage boy, riding around in a car with my friends. The One I wanted to hold and kiss didn't much care for me at all. Anyway, I was sitting in the front seat -- which was odd, considering that I was not the cool one in the crowd -- and a dear, sweet girl was in the back seat, singing the most beautiful harmony to this song that played on the cassette tape deck.
Where are you getting the bad acid trip idea from? Genuinely wondering. I always took this to be a straightforward song about religion and spirituality.
That was from the horse's mouth during a documentary aired here in the UK. That's why he felt 'flying in Winchester cathedral'. You know this song is about religious disillusionment, right ?
Hell, they didn't show Crosby properly even once. I mean, this band makes good music, but the best reason to watch their stuff is always to make fun about Crosby's mustache.
The "People who lied in the name of Christ" refers to Christian Leaders who used Christ, or God as justification for war such as Pope Urban the II whom declared the first crusade which was the first blatant Christian Attack on Islam.
Who wants to make pink/mauve and black pirate shirts and millions with me? I can see this fashion icon back among the dreadful unwashed of today...aaarrgghh
@MrSlavador and one day you will understand it doesn't criticize God himself, but what men have done of it, transforming the origanl message of love into crusades, wars and slaughters. And then you will be like "oh fuck, what a stubborn fanatic have I been all my life
My fav song

poema lisergico
Bad acid trip? Is there any such thing?
You must be SOOOOO young pussycat.
very cool haaaaaaaaa""""""""""""""""""
CSN' best
i'm high.....up on the altar....
One of the greatest atheist anthems ever.
Song is supposedly about an insight to life and death while on an acid trip. That would explain all the trails.
I've always understood it's a true story of Graham Nash going to Wichester Cathedral on his birtday stoned on acid.
What is this song about exactly?
Great performance, but the album version really kicks it up at the chorus.
That was from the horse's mouth during a documentary aired here in the UK. That's why he felt 'flying in Winchester cathedral'. You know this song is about religious disillusionment, right ?

More dan enuff people have died in da name of ´ religion ´ !

Need to keep attacking.

@dragoste747 give me a break!! Stop living in fear!
It's too bad that this isn't CSN but just Crosby and Nash ...
Speaking of g. Washington, could that be the "soldier that died in 1799"?
just csn
Oh, it was an LSD trip. Although, not necessarily a bad one.
@MrSlavador and one day you will understand it doesn't criticize God himself, but what men have done of it, transforming the origanl message of love into crusades, wars and slaughters. And then you will be like "oh fuck, what a stubborn fanatic have I been all my life
Could it be that this song is not about Christianity at all, but, rather, this song is about reincarnation?
I've got to remember not to read the comments. what a bunch of nutcases. It's just a song about an acid trip, get over it.
