I lived in Hawaii during my high school years as did my father as we were both military brats whose fathers were stationed in Hawaii during our high school years. Extra benefits for being military brats. Wonderful place and wonderful people.
I've only been to Hawaii once, when I hopped over there during leave when I was stationed overseas and I agree with you. That light spam, you're just punishing yourself.
Been once, For a conference, In the mid 1990's, The resort was lovely, the conference engaging and I'm never going back......... Because Now.... I understand ALL the Hawaiian jokes on multiple levels lol
They addressed the lack of Hawaiians on the show. The show for the most part did not have a large budget for the time, a very large amount of it was spent paying locals (Hawaiians) working as film crew and what not. They saved money by not having a ton of regular appearing actors. Most of the new characters were the "bad guy" and they didn't want a stereo type to be portrayed by Hawaiians playing the bad guys. Tom Selleck has told stories about many actors cast but ended up dropping out because the pay was crap and just flying them to and from the mainland eat up more money the first two seasons than his entire salary. You would think as the show got more popular the budget would increase but evidently that wasn't the norm back then.
Hawaiian pizza is Canadian. My Grandfather never liked SPAM as he had too much in WWII. He was in Europe but two of Grandma's brothers were in Dec 7th. Her dad was at Schofield around 1915. The Hawaiian streets with nomn-Hawaiian named are old ones, before 1959.
Yep. Everyone I have told that Hawaiian pizza was actually invented in Canada was very surprised. But the most important part of Hawaiian pizza is that it is a crime against cuisine. I'm not a big fan of spam, and have never had it on pizza. But I am 100% sure it tastes better on pizza than pineapple.
I love the non-Hawaiian pineapple pizza. Spam on pizza, not for me thanks! Spam reminds me of the second world war too, even too you to have lived it! Hm maybe I should buy some spam in these times!
