Queen Nefertiti of Egypt

- Nefertiti was Queens at the height of the Ancient Egypt Empire’s wealth and power. She and her husband began a religious revolution and built a new capital city. And Nefertiti rose to the level of co-Pharaoh, one of the few female rulers in the empire’s history. She was also the step mother and mother in law of King Tutankhamun. But much about her life remains shrouded in mystery. Her most famous image, this pristinely preserved bust is a tantalizing glimpse at the life of one of the ancient world’s great Queens.

You know, for all that so much of Nefertiti's life is mysterious to us and may well never be fully known, is anyone else just blown away by the fact that we even know the NAME of a Egyptian* queen who lived three thousand years ago?
*or possibly Mitanni, I'm big on the Foreign Princess theory.
🤔🤔🤔
But the foreign princess theory can be disputed because Aye’s wife Tey has been named as wet nurse to Nefertiti. So how could she possibly be a foreign princess when she had a Egyptian wet nurse? Tadukhipa might actually be Akhenaten’s second wife Kiya who was known as the favorite. Because there’s not much know about her and her name means ‘jovial lady’ that coming to Egypt she took on a new name so tadukhipa might have become kiya as that name is sort of a pet name.
@@Tekirai Huh,you know never heard about the wet nurse thing. Then again, I've also never claimed to be an Egyptologist or an expert of any kind in Bronze Age princesses. It's possible that it wasn't Nefertiti who wrote the letter to the Hittite king for help, as she still had Tutankhamun as her heir, despite being her step-son. I hear that it's most likely her daughter, Ankhesenamun, who wrote it out of desperation after her brother-husband, King Tut, died and she was forced to marry Ay, most likely her grandfather. Ew. The Hittite king did sent one of his sons to Egypt to see if this was true, but the prince died en route, possibly murdered. And conveniently, Ankhesenamun disappeared from the record of history shortly after being forced to marry Ay.
Maybe she murdered herself by marrying her grandmother who was very very old.
Thanks. That seems most logical.

To people who are surprised that other countries won't give the artifacts back to their rightful place - it's about money, and the fact that it's easier to go to UK or something, than Africa. Regardless of the names of the countries, anyone would do the same in this situation and keep them. Giving artifacts back would mean something like "take my money, I don't need them at all". This is a whole business with a lot of employees. It's too grounded for anything to change in this regard, and perhaps only war could change that. It's really naive to think that people would go with their good hearts and honor in such cases.

I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw the bust in Berlin some years ago.....

Quite a few things that are presented as fact in this video are actually the subject of ongoing debate (or simply incorrect). Like that letter to the Hittite king, for example. Egyptologists still do not agree on who actually wrote it. Some think it was Nefertiti, some think it was Ankhesenamun or Meritaten (though Meritaten seems unlikely). As far as I know, there is also no evidence for Nefertiti moving the capital back to Thebes after Akhenaten's death. She does appear to have relaxed the official stance towards the old religion and the priesthood of Amun but from what I've read, it is assumed that she continued to live in and reign from Akhetaten. You also seem to have left out Smenkhkare whom most Egyptologists today accept to have been a distinct, male individual, not Nefertiti using a different name. There is some uncertainty surrounding the identification of the KV55 mummy as Akhenaten, as well. Most of the sources regarding this period in Egyptian history are so vague and/or incomplete that it's difficult to make definitive statements about it. A lot of it is just theories based on conjecture and personal interpretation.
Thank you for this! 👑👑👑

The museums in Berlin, as much the British Museum and the Louvre have artifacts taken from Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, India, Africa, Assyria...after thousands of requests from all individual countries to take back what was removed illegally, still the museums and the people also carry with them a colonial behavior and way of thinking which is a sad realization of what is moral and justice still today
