Are 3D Zelda Releases ONCE Per DECADE?!? 2D Zelda DEAD?!

Well, after that long wait TOTK had us endure... is this release schedule the type of thing we are to expect from this point on?!? Waiting 6+ years for a mainline title? Is this the end of traditonal 3D Zelda FOR GOOD?!? Let's discuss!

I'm prepping for a lengthy wait.... maybe even longer than 6 years... But hopefully we get a 2D game before the next 3D one!

It actually wouldn't surprise me if we get an announcement for the Power Switch (successor) this holiday season, and also find a patch to optimize Tears Of the Kingdom for that new console, along with an associated reprint of the cartridge for that device. Then, Breath Of the Wild 3 may then be dropped another 5 or 6 years later.
...though we did also have Cadence of Hyrule as well. Still, I would totally like to see a top down 2D Zelda every couple to 3 years in between the "main line" 3D Zelda games. Maybe we could have those as a top down Metroidvania type game.

Just please, please have the next game have a completely different set of characters in a different scenario and world. If the next game comes out in 2030 and we're still seeing Sidon, Riju, Yunobo and BotW Zelda then I might not even play it.
Come on people Breath of the Wild came out in 2017!! People gotta learn to move on from these characters + world

Im sure anouma said this is the format going forward but i dont want a botw 3 i want a fresh new art style and ideas

I can tell you what I want: Bring Wind Waker HD to people who didn't have the Wii U, and then remakes of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks simultaneously releasing and running in the BotW engineml.

Would love Nintendo to get back to 2D Zelda, but my fear is that it will be closer to a 10 year cycle between games, given TotK took 6 years and that was reusing a lot of BotW assets.
