Honestly, as a muslim, i am glad they changed the music in the fire temple. Not because it was offensive or anything like that, but because it was extremly distracting, i kept feeling like i should go pray every five minutes, and the music works well even without the chant so it's all good. The symbols thought are overkill, i never looked at them and thought they were religious symbols before the internet, I mean the Moon is a real thing not just an islamic symbole. it would be like taking off all "+" signs from calculators cause they looks like Christian crosses.
It's also just kinda strange to have real world stuff in an independent fantasy world, though I suppose you could argue that the fact that they all speak whatever language the game is localized for already breaks that immersion anyway lol
Wow, look everyone, there actually exists religious people with a brain! Jokes aside, the most religious people getting attention in media, regardless of religion, are sadly the fanatic idiots who keeps getting offended by everything. It's really nice to see someone with a brain getting their voice heard for a chance!
When putting it that way it does seem very obvious that the first 3D game in a popular series would be contain many moments that look impressive in 3D.
@@cupriferouscatalyst3708 Not just the first in a series, but one of the first 3D story driven games. The very first dungeon is designed to show players how much more advanced gameplay can get with the ability to look up and down. And the very first boss is designed to show you just how much more terrifying enemies can be when they’re the ones looking down upon you
Think of it like this. The 3DS version came out 9 years ago. People were nostalgic for the original N64 version by the time Twilight Princess came out and that was only 7-8 years after OoT.
You know what is funny? I have nostalgia for Breath of the Wild... Something about that games most powerful feature, being it's discovery and exploration that can't be experienced twice, makes me feel nostalgic about the first time I ever played through the game, launch night, picking up my switch and playing it till like 4am and just being blown away. And this is coming from someone who's first ever gaming experience was Zelda OoT on the N64 way back and has bought every Zelda since.
Geschäftsmodell Klimakrise well the Mario bros flute theme is just a rip off of the original Zelda whistle theme, so the theme inherently begins in Zelda
The lighting change is to compensate for the 3ds's screen. Since it's hard to see things on a 3ds screen outside. So if the lighting matched the lighting of the original, then they might have been really hard to see outside
@@animeking1357 Yeah I have a New 2DS and a Switch and they’re both unplayable outside. They might be playable if you live in a place that’s overcast all the time but I’m in Australia haha
@@likeanuuk6612 Yup, this! There's no filler content. He even started the analysis just as the video started. There weren't any obnoxious intros followed by another intro where he'd go through his childhood and what the game meant to him like a lot of people tend to do. He got right to it.
Another point worth adding is that in a very uncharacteristic move, Nintendo intentionally wrote in some speed running glitches so they would carry over from the N64. Another great video!
Considering they used source code as the base, wouldn't it be that they intentionally kept the glitches instead of recreating them? Regardless of one or the other, it's still an interesting choice. Most ports patch glitches and accidentally create new ones.
@@Dairunt1 Which is what they actually did in OOT3D too, ironically enough. To be entirely honest, the OOT3D bug list is much better because it allows for a lot of cool stuff of its own(Like, you can actually do a variation of the Back in Time-glitch in it, which is amazing) while removing nearly all ties to standard gameplay. If you now just want a glitchless experience, you can do that.
Not trying to be an asshole or anything, but just letting you know that you don't need to be a musician to play the Ocarina of Time intro song on the piano. It's one of the easiest songs around and takes very little time to learn and can be played by anyone who is just at basic level.
@ the dude above me: cool fact, if you play music in any capacity, you're a musician. "musician" doesn't have to equal "classically trained/piano master/prodigy/etc". Like to go for runs? You're a runner. Play an instrument? Cool, you're a musician. The word is a neutral term and doesn't imply something more than just being someone that plays music! Aside from that, it was a really nice execution of the OoT intro, and it sounded great.
@@GayRiku Fair enough. Although I play piano as a hobby at basic level and I would never, ever call myself a musician. That would be like playing soccer on the weekend with friends and tell people you are a soccer player.
I think the brightness thing could be due to the 3ds being a portable console, meaning players would possibly be playing it outside and dealing with glare, as opposed to an indoor tv
"They don't have far to go..." Damn. That sent a chill up and down my spine twice. You're totally right about that, and OOT could be a perfect game if they remastered it just one more time for the Switch.
It would be kinda cool playing from the game with the original source code still there in part, but I wonder if it would be even better making it on the BOTW engine.
Definitely - it seems like there is so little Grezzo and Nintendo would have to update the game to truly make it one of the greatest games of all time (again). Touching up all of the textures, models, and some other loose ends would be amazing
Kendellbud02 I kind of like it as the 3ds version, I don’t think I would like the game as much if it had high quality graphics, the low res graphics just makes it look a lot better/nostalgic in my opinion
You performed the outro? Good shit man. Sounds gorgeous and was a perfect conclusion. Edit: Is that you again at 1:35, Nerrel? Hot damn you sneaky bastard. Your talent is NOT awkward at all.
Man when I was a kid, my mum came home with this game and I was so damn excited. Just seeing kokiri forest and wandering around with blanket around me while it was raining outside. I played this so much that the circle pad on my 2ds lost its rubber.
I’m playing majoras mask for the first time and i just lost the rubber in my circle pad yesterday after finally reaching ikana canyon. these are special games, man
One thing honestly that did bug me about the 3DS version is that they removed the "mario character pictures in the castle courtyard window" easter egg, and replaced it with some random 3D Mario side-scroller level picture. I know that's a massive nitpick on my part, but I always liked that Easter Egg, especially playing through OOT right after playing through SM64. But overall, yes, I agree, it was a very solid remake.
@@IamCanadian3333 I think he's referring to what you've already said? About the Easter egg now being a part of a 2D Mario level. It's still cool, but I would've liked if they still had included the characters like with the N64 portraits
@@IamCanadian3333 it is a massive nitpick. you like only certain kinds of a Mario references? so the easter egg is in the same spot and has the same effect when shot and involves the same franchise, but it's not a picture frame of Mario this time...so you don't like it? to say nothing of the massive untouched Mario reference in the characters of Malon, Talon, and Ingo...with their Bowser broaches and their outright design parallels to Peach, Mario, and Luigi. Oh, and there's the additional Mario reference in the Happy Mask Shop since they connect him more to Majora's Mask by showing all his masks and gear. But no...this one reference is changed and it's no bueno?
Ever since RUclips basically forced me to watch your MM3D video (and for a second time recently), I have been subscribed. I have not regretted it, you have turned into one of my favorite creators on the platform. (also its pretty cool that you played the piano at the end, that was a good surprise)
Lol, the MM3D video, I simply refused to watch it until a video about emulation showed up. Then I thought "oh this video is made by the same guy? Let's watch it then!" Subscribed since
i havent played Zelda in over 18 years. im recently getting back into video games and bought the 3ds to play this remake. I am so excited about this game. i remember not reading any of the dialog as a kid so i never really understood the story, now that im an adult its all making sense now!!!
Not so much that it's a children's story because it is dark in nature. The overall story structure is generic hero's tale though like most Zeldas so it's not hard to keep up with. It manages to feel personal in a way few games do though
@@retrobit5973 a children's story about a kid's entire childhood being taken from him "for the good of the land", finding out in the initial timejump that none of your friends are there anymore and so many people have straight up died. Seeing corpses in the castle not knowing how many of them you might have talked to as townsfolk just a few minutes ago before you time jumped. And then when you've finally killed Ganon- being told to just go enjoy that stolen time as if what he witnessed would ever make being that kid possible again, and leaving alltogether only for the events of Majora to take place. But yes, a children's story.
In 1998 Nerrel used to have one eyebrow raised, however in 2009 we remastered the man Nerrel and added in an effect that allows him to raise BOTH eyebrows at the same time.. in 3D! If you read this in Nerrels voice give this comment a 👍
Pretty much my only complaint about this one compared to the original is the change of atmosphere for Ganon. Other than that i think it's a perfect remaster.
I always loved the original Fire Temple Theme. The chanting made this theme stand out so much more. Anyway, Forest Tempel still has the best music, imo. As a child, I always loved the haunted and cold atmosphere of Forest Temple.
I really hope that Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask get a remake or remaster of some sorts on the Switch, or a collection at least. They should bring those two with Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD in a collection actually, that'll be awesome!
Honestly I kinda hope they don’t. I have a 3ds and it’s only $20 there and great, and if they put it on the switch it would go for $60, plus it would mean that we would have to wait another year or so for botw 2... also like he said in the video it still has that N64 feel, just everything looks better, and an “HD” remake on the switch wouldn’t feel the same... plus the ds’s 2 screens are perfect for it.
@@Zack-bl2gg Also the 3DS remakes arent even that old. We really don't need a remake every new gen. They should do it as a big event when Oot turns 30 or something like that.
I think that the parts that are brighter in the 3DS are due the size of the screens though, it would have been pretty hard on the eyes to have the same levels of darkness/visibility as in the N64. Great video! I think what you talk at around 14:00 rings true for FF VII Remake which has been changed so much by now that it seems they were ashamed of the original
EDIT: Please note that the following reply was made before the FF7 Remake released, and while the statements made hold up when it comes to the gameplay, visuals, and presentation, they did *not* age well when talking about the story: I don't think the makers of Final Fantasy 7 Remake are "ashamed of the original"; they too seem to have the mentality of, "Let's not screw this up", and they're just going about it differently. They are trying to preserve as much of the original as possible, while also giving it the massive visual overhaul it needs. Yes, they are also making gameplay changes to the combat and exploration, but the original version's combat is available as an option.
Matthew St. Cyr not a good take. They went out of their way to change the story in a moment that at first seems “oh this is new and interesting” to “this rewrite is even more bloated than the original story” I have no idea what they were going for with their weird time-shit, but it is dangerously close to Kingdom Hearts-esque writing. Kind of sad, since it has a lot of redeeming qualities like the combat and Honeybee inn.
@@explodinglamps2021 Yeah its a huge bummer that the end just completely falls apart when 90% of the game is a more or less perfect reimagining of the original.
this made my heart warm for some reason, i didn't even play the original and just recently picked up the remake. this video made me happy and excited for what's to come.
I prefer to play the original game on an emulator using a Rom Hack called Faster Ocarina of Time that fixes almost all of the flaws of the orginal game ( like D-Pad Iron Boots ) and also using an HD texture pack at 4K and 8X Anti-Alasing I personally dont like how the 3DS version ruined Link's face, Link in the original game is a total stud he has a very angular and masculine face and looks like a man that fits the role of The Hero of Time, in the 3DS version he looks like a round faced baby, it's legit embarassing, the artwork of Adult Link didnt look so childish Plus the 1.0 version has red blood and a darker atmosphere overall, nowadays with goofy cartoon visuals in Skyward Sword and BoTW, I truly miss the darker tone of the 64 Zelda titles
@@starship7485 This is one of the nitpickiest, most bullshit comments I have ever seen. Just cannot believe that someone actually took the time to type out such garbage
I've found that the fall damage canceling roll works best when you're dropping, not jumping. For example, when you're hanging on a ledge and drop, or if you do a short hop off the ledge. I don't really know how to manipulate the latter, so I generally stick to the former. Some ledges can't be grabbed or short hopped off of, but walking slowly will cause Link to just drop down, the roll should work with that too. Of course, as with the N64 version, falling a super long distance will disable the roll altogether, so don't even bother.
depends on the distance away you are from the ledge. if ur a super small distance away from the ledge you grab on to the ledge, if you are far enough to build up a run for half a second before you reach the ledge you'll short hop.
You can low jump off of any ledge if you do a role and the role animation ends exactly when you're about to hit the ledge. It's precise but it happened to me occasionally when jumping over the labyrinth in secret forest meadow and rolling inbetween jumps. Other than that you can just wear the hover boots as they don't initiate a jump when going over a ledge. You can even use that to roll off of the ledge high inside the windmill in kakariko village and land right behind the well without taking damage. I used to do a lot of parkouring and jumping when I played oot3d lol
The thing I absolutely loved about your piano performance wasn't just the execution (it was brilliant mind you), but also the clunky mechanical sounds of the piano keys and pedals, which added an organic and natural feeling to the music being played. Absolutely astonishing!
This is the only version I have played and so far I love it. I bought it purely cause a friend recommended I did and I never saw what all the hype was about but when playing this remake I had a ton of fun. It gave me a fun challenge that left me wanting more and the game was made so well that I could watch videos of the classic n64 title as a guide and not get lost or confused. It even prompted me to watch comparison videos to check out how drastic the change was. Overall as a new player I love what I have played so far and look forward to more
@Joshua Suh a link between worlds, meh I feel like it takes less effort to make 2D Zelda games not saying I don't enjoy them. Plus this is the 3DS not would've been nice to see an original *3D* Zelda game .
I'd say the Ganon battle in OOT3D is the only part of the game which falls short in comparison to the N64 original. The original battle evoked a sense of horror and dread, since you could barely see Ganon, except for two big yellow eyes, and lightning strikes briefly but barely illuminating his body.
Nerrel the only reviewer I watch that notices the difference in sound tracks in such detail. I mean this as a compliment I would of never noticed these
I agree, playing the 3DS version was exactly how I remember playing it on N64, even better because I got into glitches, which I heard were kept from the original N64 release intentionally.
"I can only hope that they show the same amount of care the next time the game gets released." This part aged like sour milk after the N64 Switch online package.
With OOT N64 being (almost, not all versions) reverse engineered now, at some point someone will probably port it to PC OSs and put in the OOT 3DS models, higher resolutions, free camera, faster menus, BotW-style Pro HUD (i.e. no HUD) ... can't wait! :-D
@@YASYTU the decomp project is nearing completion and the MQ Debug ROM is actually complete in that project. People have started efforts to port it to PC, but not much will probably come of it until the decomp project completes 1.0 or 1.2. I look forward to the PC port, but it's still a bit far out.
The insta-charge shot from dodging is pretty much all Other M did right. Well, I suppose most of the gameplay was good, too, but the pixel hunt sections were unforgivable and first-person missile-ing was awkward. We won’t talk about the story and cutscenes. Those never happened. Other M didn’t have a plot, it was all gameplay, that is all there is to say on the matter.
@@magetsalive5162 Metroid is an important IP to me, yet ever since I've branched out from playing primarily Nintendo games something has been nagging at me. Let's be honest, Samus's games have a lot of overlap with The Legend of Zelda. The sidescrollers are Zelda mixed with platforming, and the rest are (more or less) OoT in first person. Metroid's resemblance might be hurting it; it's never been a consistent seller. Link's series beats it in popularity (that's why there are many more releases for it) and is enough for those who want a mix of atmosphere, adventure, puzzles and some combat. How about they explore the action angle they were doing in Other M? You could still have a large map to explore and powerups to find. Just make sure the combat isn't simple and easy to cheese like in OM. Correct me if I'm wrong as I kind of left Nintendo after the Wii, but don't their games usually have rather basic combat (minus their fighting games)? This new Metroid could remedy that, being a bit more thrilling and it would fill in the action genre hole Nintendo has.
@@protocetid I never finished the first Prime game and thus gave up the series. Aside from having to go through the Lava area, what felt like, at least 30 times, the combat was the worst I've seen in a metroid game. Them giving us Auto aim and the side dodge made the game laughibly easy and it completely destroys everything that made the 2D metroid bosses what they were. You know, finding the weakpoint and then finding the right timing to attack it. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with other m and I strongly think that a lot of it's Issues come directly from trying to please both the 2D metroid fans as well as Prime ones. And obviously they failed at the latter.
Magets Alive I agree with nerrel on the story not being sexist it was just NOT Samus’s character at all, Samus has been depicted as this silent but strong badass more akin to solid snake than whatever whiny scared bitch that was in other m Metroid prime 3 did great on her character and how subtle the development was, ( as she rarely lets down her guard) plus being afraid of becoming dark Samus after seeing what she looked like from gandrayda makes a lot more sense than being scared of a malnourished Ridley whom she beaten a billion times
I think what you're trying to say has more to do with the fog, and how things looked cuz of the system, in the 3ds version, the game looks more like: THIA IS THE WORLD YOU'RE IN OK? THE WORLD IS EVERYTHING YOU'RE SEEING while the n64 is more like: This is the world! *Or is it?* The fog is here and there, something may be hidden somewhere around here... Is something I don't know how to explain very well...
That ending actually got my heart broken, what a beautiful piece, absolutely melancholic in the most perfect way, and the way it was played was damn near tear inducing. Makes me feel things I didn't even know I had in me.
One thing that Nintendo made with this game and also with Mario 64, is that the credits theme uses every instrument of its soundfont. For some reason every time OOT's credits's bells drop at the end I get misty-eyed.
The blood was not removed, you can still see it. BUT, its colour was changed to a murky brown, which is how blood looks when dried. This change reflects better when the blood was spilled (many moons ago)
I still remember losing my freaking mind when this game came out...This was the beginning of 3d worlds , I remember resetting the game just to watch the introduction and Navi perspective . The way this game changed things has never happened again , for us kids that grew up in the 80's the leap was otherworldly. Good times ...good times.
Yea, I mean it does look cool but I feel, at least, it's just a little too bright and saturated colours. I've not played OOT 3D but in Majora's Mask 3D they changed some little things that suck - such as the awesome Zora swimming you can do as a Zora, they randomly changed that into a really dumb looking human style swimming. As a Deku Scrub they've made the jumping and water skimming really slow and annoying.
space koala yes but to many (including me) this was the first version of the game to them. Not arguing with you. I just think there is a different way to look at both versions
@The No.1 Guy i'm still playing OOT on a weekly basis (randomizer but still) played both OOT and MM3D, although OOT3D felt true enough to the original, MM3D definitly didn't unfortunately. since i'm also playing the randomizer version of OOT i get all of these amazing OOT3D QoL changes (use the ocarina with the d-pad, switch boots with the d-pad etc) sure these things should've been in the original, no idea why it wasn't concidering they aren't major changes but do impact the overal flow. Since i'm still playing this game at the age of 27, when i was like 5 or 6 (can't remember, been so long) i can easily say i don't got the classic "nostalgia goggles" on anymore, still enjoying the game and the depth it can offer, the amount of stuff a good player can do (not just glitches but even actual tricks) I do feel that since the N64 needed this "fog" effect in some places or the limited draw distance it made the area's stand out more, with the 3D version everything is so bright and colorful (yes maybe that's accurate to the original art design but it doesn't remove the fact that the more grim looking places looked way more grim in the original compared to the remake)
Links character model in the original is still one of my all time favorites. The remake version isn't bad but its not as gritty and angular as the original. The walk animation also looks odd and gives link the look of floating across the ground.
@The No.1 Guy Have you played OoT on an emulator? The original graphics were actually in HD, the N64 just wasn't capable of converting the full signal. They look amazingly better. I'm sure the only reason those graphics are charming is because they came out during a special era of my youth..
I just noticed that that's you playing the piano at the end, and it didn't sound awkward at all! Insightful critique, witty humor, art Skillz and musical prowess? Bruv what can't you do
Same, I would've loved Master Mode if it wasnt flipped. Too much of a switch up for my brain to handle. It'd be like if you woke up and your house was mirrored lol.
@@SolidSnake684 I have all three versions of Twilight Princess, but I've only ever played the Gamecube version. I tried a bit of the Wii version just to see what it was like for people who grew up thinking it's the original orientation, and I was completely lost running just around the village. Viewing a mirrored image is one thing, but traversing a flipped world is really disorienting. I'm much more acquainted with Ocarina of Time than I am with Twilight Princess, which makes me wonder if the flipped mode would be easier or harder to handle as a result.
@@southpaw117Yeah exactly. I took one look at TP on Wii U and thought "no this is just gonna confuse me" lol. I think its worse when you're more acquainted with a game. But try it out if ylur curious. Its definitely a trip to have something mess with your mind like that.
Same. Even despite preferring the visuals of the original. I don't even have nostalgia for it. I grew up with an N64, but didn't play OOT til my senior year in high school around a decade ago. The old visuals are just a lot more atmospheric to me.
I remember when I was around 9 and went to the mall of america to see the new Mario games on display. I saw a 3ds on display and when I opened it up it Link was in the dungeon with the redeads. I never closed a 3ds so fast. I got over 100 street pass tags that day.
OoT was on my list of games to play (because it's historic, good, etc), so I got the 3DS version. Definitely a good idea for new/old players. The biggest flaw seemed to be the lack of darkness compared to the original. The water temple boss seemed like it was in a florescent-lit indoor swimming pool, but at least that didn't really affect gameplay. It's kind of funny, despite people ranking OoT as the #1 game of all time, or calling each new Zelda game is "good but not OoT"; OoT's graphics and environment have aged pretty badly, even compared to other N64 games. Now you know what Nintendo should do, they should release a COMBINED OoT & MMask in HD for the switch. It looks like they already have the textures they need (maybe NPCs could use a little more work), and while MMask 3D's mechanics are a bit messed up, everything bad with the game is described in Nerrel's video (and fixing those things shouldn't be too hard) Nintendo just needs to watch that, heck they probably already have, since RUclips demanded I watch it for weeks.
When they call OoT the best Zelda game, they're talking about the game itself, not the graphics. Gameplay, format, music, puzzle creativity, mechanics, story, pacing, and emotions.

How did they get this one so right and majoras mask wrong? They did this one first. Maybe it was they didn't have the same respect for MM as ocarina. As you say "everyone had one shared goal, don't screw this up"

@@Zangelin Saving system was awful, easier to keep tabs on quests and to figure them out, have to redo less when you reset, being able to warp around easily, improved boss battles, etc. Add gyro aiming, better graphics, the ability to equip more items at the same time, easier + faster menuing and a locked 30 fps on top of that... and you pretty much have a game that's quite a bit better than the original. I've loved Zelda since I first played LOZ in 1988..and being able to watch the series progress(and digress) throughout the years has been awesome. That being said, finding those passionate about Zelda enough to make content surrounding it just furthers my love for the game...and you sir have some of the best content on this website. Oh yeah... i think it goes without saying I Subbed to you. Keep making these!!
Ramp stairs were the biggest pet peeve for me. They've clearly proven the 3DS is very capable in terms of polygons, they could spare a few dozen to give proper block stairs.
Agreed, these stairs never looked believable to me and as a kid I didn't even understand what they were supposed to be until a while later. Even now I have trouble pretending to see them as stairs. I guess Grezzo kept it that way though because it's much easier to apply in level design, not to mention that it would be a bother to model them for each area (or create a system for it). Maybe individual stairs look too "detailed" too. I noticed something like that in an early version of the graveyard from the giga leak: ruclips.net/video/f1RKSFLKuyk/видео.html For some reason, they went out of their way to actually model missing bricks in a brick wall, when usually you'd do holes like these with textures on an N64. It looks very out of place, at least to me. Maybe they actually did use proper stairs for a while but realized they look odd?
OoT 3D overall looks better obviously, but I wish Grezzo understood the importance of the lighting in the N64 original for some scenes. The Ganon final battle is well known example. Another is the Gohma boss battle in the Deku Tree where you can only see Gohma's glowing eye moving around when its on the ceiling, and the full boss is only visible when its brought to the ground and lit by ambient light. Little stuff like that added to the game's drama and sense of wonder.
You've been doing a LOT of praising towards Wind Waker HD in your Zelda vids. I really hope a Review/Compare and Contrast of those two versions is something you'll think about for the future.
3DS cause of gyro aiming, master quest included, character models closely resemble ORIGINAL art work, faster text speed, more colorful, removed some glitches (bad ones mainly), 4 free item slots with the ocarina having its own slot not taking up space, no crowded top screen, easy navigating touch screen, portability, and some others I'm probably missing
this was a very lovingly-crafted and entertaining video essay! i like your humor my dude and you got me really thinking and appreciating OoT. good work, man! :)
Dear God the remake came out 13 years ago. I still remember my dad buying it for me as a kid at launch since he had read it was a very highly rated game online.
I'm totally with you on Ocarina of Time I just started remaking Saria. I loved this game on the N64, but have never played the 3ds version. Sounds like I should pick it up.
In 2024, the 3DS version is now as old as the original was when the 3DS version was released 🤯 It's just crazy to think about because those first 13 years saw a much greater leap in visuals, controls, mechanics, and QoL features than the last 13 years have.
glad to see that someone else liked the 3d. i fell in love with the 3d on every game it was used in, and i fell in love with these two games aswell. it's a shame i was born in 2003 and not 1977 ish, but i guess that's part of the purpose for a remake.
You've genuinely become one of the "oh shit he's uploaded" youtubers on my list. Your videos clearly look and feel like they have a lot of time, thought and effort put into them. Keep up the great work man!
You summed it up pretty perfectly. It really felt like I picked up where I left off on the N64. I didn't even notice how much they improved it visually due to my nostalgia goggles. It looks just as good as it did to kid me in the early 2000s. But I can really appreciate the work they did when you compare them side by side.
@@francisthompson3772 I agree with you. I'm surprised with how many people liked it the least and say it was too long...it's never too long as long as it's not repetitive. It wasn't repetitive and there were new themes and a constant sense of fear the entire game.
Another thing about the Water Temple besides the improved signposting and lack of constant signposting is that I think it benefited the most from the glow-up it received out of all the dungeons. The effect of light reflecting off the water has been improved using so that the effect is weaker on walls further away from the water. The tiling is more detailed with gold lining marking the edges of platforms and breaking up the monotony of brick walls. The coloring is much more vibrant and the view underwater is a lot less foggy. And the hanging lanterns in the main room are a great touch. It makes the dungeon feel a lot more like an underwater sanctuary than the murky collection of hallways it was in the original. Between all the changes the Water Temple became one of my favorite dungeons in the game.
The problem with the remakes turns down to the fear developers have with making the game creepy or with more atmosphere . And actually that's what as a kid we all remember and kept us with emotional attachment because, add the feeling of reality and maturity, games are not all about being beautiful, they need bad emotions too, so you can have balance.
Its weird with these old games. I swear the original 1998 realease looked as good as the 3Ds remake back then xD But when I start up the original version now it hurts my eyes.
@@abstractdaddy1384 Depends on the system you play the game on. Ocarina of time on gamecube with new TV has way too sharp edges. But On an N64, with an old tv, the technical limmitations create a kinda blurry effect so you dont see each pixel of the texture and the edges are rounded.
@@Iguana5k I see. Yea the last time I played it was on an old tv on the N64. But most of my opinion is based off of footage I've seen recently. I don't like the look or animations of characters and Link on the 3DS. It's too artificial or something. The whole game kind of gives a "soap opera effect" to me. The older version ironically looks more real because it's grittier and the framerate is closer to that of "old' movies (24). The backgrounds of environments do look better on the 3DS though. But then you run into situations like was pointed out in the video where some dungeons are too clean looking and totally lose the dark atmosphere.

The symbols thought are overkill, i never looked at them and thought they were religious symbols before the internet, I mean the Moon is a real thing not just an islamic symbole. it would be like taking off all "+" signs from calculators cause they looks like Christian crosses.

I don't think the makers of Final Fantasy 7 Remake are "ashamed of the original"; they too seem to have the mentality of, "Let's not screw this up", and they're just going about it differently. They are trying to preserve as much of the original as possible, while also giving it the massive visual overhaul it needs. Yes, they are also making gameplay changes to the combat and exploration, but the original version's combat is available as an option.
Matthew St. Cyr not a good take.
You can even use that to roll off of the ledge high inside the windmill in kakariko village and land right behind the well without taking damage. me: "oh God he isn't going to defend Other M somehow is he?"
LMAO sameeee
Magets Alive I agree with nerrel on the story not being sexist it was just NOT Samus’s character at all, Samus has been depicted as this silent but strong badass more akin to solid snake than whatever whiny scared bitch that was in other m Metroid prime 3 did great on her character and how subtle the development was, ( as she rarely lets down her guard) plus being afraid of becoming dark Samus after seeing what she looked like from gandrayda makes a lot more sense than being scared of a malnourished Ridley whom she beaten a billion times

I still remember losing my freaking mind when this game came out...This was the beginning of 3d worlds , I remember resetting the game just to watch the introduction and Navi perspective . The way this game changed things has never happened again , for us kids that grew up in the 80's the leap was otherworldly.

The original has a special feeling to it that can't be replicated. And I find the N64 graphics charming. You made a good case for the remake though.
@The No.1 Guy i'm still playing OOT on a weekly basis (randomizer but still)
played both OOT and MM3D, although OOT3D felt true enough to the original, MM3D definitly didn't unfortunately.
since i'm also playing the randomizer version of OOT i get all of these amazing OOT3D QoL changes (use the ocarina with the d-pad, switch boots with the d-pad etc) sure these things should've been in the original, no idea why it wasn't concidering they aren't major changes but do impact the overal flow.
Since i'm still playing this game at the age of 27, when i was like 5 or 6 (can't remember, been so long) i can easily say i don't got the classic "nostalgia goggles" on anymore, still enjoying the game and the depth it can offer, the amount of stuff a good player can do (not just glitches but even actual tricks)
I do feel that since the N64 needed this "fog" effect in some places or the limited draw distance it made the area's stand out more, with the 3D version everything is so bright and colorful (yes maybe that's accurate to the original art design but it doesn't remove the fact that the more grim looking places looked way more grim in the original compared to the remake)

OOT is one of the best looking N64 games. What are you talking about.

Oh yeah... i think it goes without saying I Subbed to you.
I noticed something like that in an early version of the graveyard from the giga leak: ruclips.net/video/f1RKSFLKuyk/видео.html
For some reason, they went out of their way to actually model missing bricks in a brick wall, when usually you'd do holes like these with textures on an N64.

@@francisthompson3772 I agree with you. I'm surprised with how many people liked it the least and say it was too long...it's never too long as long as it's not repetitive. It wasn't repetitive and there were new themes and a constant sense of fear the entire game.
I actually like the 3d effect. Especially playing hours upon hours from the 64 the upgrades are appreciated.
If Majora 3D had the same design outlook as OoT3D, it would've been so much better, even if it still would've been a divisive outcome.
They honestly should've made an "n64" mode with the original rules.
