DEEP PURPLE BURN LIVE- IAN PAICE DRUM COVER

- This tune is a bear, all hail the great Ian Paice!!
This version is from a live show in Graz Austria in 1975. It seems a bit brighter than the California Jam version, and Ritchie pushes the breaks sometimes so much that he and Ian are a little off ! You can see where I try to stay with Ian on the hihats. Very challenging song to play, whew!

Possibly more licks per measure than any song ever recorded and George is up to the task. Ian Paice has always been great; saw him twice in DP's Mach II lineup.
Awesome, thanks D
yet it doesn't sound busy or overplaying. it just fits the music.
@@kickstar1 absolutely!
@@BONHAMOLOGY Check out Paicey's drumming on 'Lay Down, Stay Down' from the Burn album. Like Bonham, Ian Paice was an inventive drummer, always played the right thing for the song.
One of the most challenging hard rock songs to play drums to. Very impressive. Damn!
Okay…that was badass. Paice had some wickedly fast hands. The look on your face when Blackmore had his “moment” in the middle was priceless.
Really digging these non-LZ covers. Your recordings in the remodeled space are sounding really good. Always a treat to hear that Supra in action.
Cheers🍻
Much appreciated!!
Savage...great cover George...Ian sits up there with Bonzo as amongst the greatest rock drummers ever IMO! I've seen Ian comment on RUclips covers, would be interesting to hear his take on your's!
Hell to the Yes!
Thank you George, for your drum part of this song (live version).
You, as always, are very accurate and magnificent. The music of DEEP PURPLE in general and Mr. Ian Paice in particular, seems to give you some pleasure.
Please dear George, could you make a special analysis video comparing the styles of both drumming legends Bonzo and Paicey? No one but you can do it better.
I have already checked with some drum teachers in different countries, they could't explain anything.
It looks like both drummers are still a mystery in some parts of the world...
As always, awesome drumming, George. No matter what music you are playing it is a joy to listen and watch. Love that crazy fill at 3:31 after the guitar solo. I wish the Graz CD was mixed better. Drums are buried. You brought them up as they should be. Many thanks.
George!!!!! That was *INCREDIBLE* the hand speed and the precision. Wow. I’ve seen many of your Bonham videos but Paice is such a different drummer and for you to completely nail his playing too is astonishing. Thanks for that.
🙏🏼 thanks!
I keep coming back to this cover. I have watched so many Burn drum covers. Nobody comes close but this is wonderful. You and Ian have the chops. Thanks for making this video.
Thank you!!
Totally agree on other attempts.
Brilliantly done George! One of my favorite songs! Ultra quick hands needed for those snare roll/cymbal crashes. No rests...Bravo!
Thanks!
Superb work George. Now if you could just get a double kick drum and do Fireball 😊
Happy thanksgiving George!!!! I want to share with you some great luck I’ve had recently.A good friend of mine went to a garage sale here in California and was able to pick me up a black galaxy pearl set from 1963,.original finish. It was a mess,But I restored it.Came with everything,W f l pedals hi hat and the Ludwig paiste cymbals for 100$ !!!! I couldn’t be happier.Santa Ludwig was here!!! Thanks
That is amazing!!! That is one of my fav finishes, and I actually ordered my Legacy kit in Black Galaxy but while it was being made, Ludwig stopped using that wrap for quality control issues so I picked the black glass from precision and had Ludwig wrap at the factory. I often look out for the original, but its usually very expensive. You scored a great deal, unbelievable!! Congratulations!!
Awesome! Would also love to hear/see you do Lay Down Stay Down from the Burn album too!
Great tune!
Camaleontico...
Grazie mr.Fludas❗❤️☮️🔝☮️
Face?
Melted!
That, boys and girls, is how you rock the house. 👍
Ian Paice amazing Drummer!! Great performance congratulation
Are most of those single roles? What speed!
It's a mix of singles and doubles, rudimental type fills
A suitable homage to a great song, great band and superb drummer. Paice is up there with the very best. What a satisfying cover to play and George as always looks like he’s just frying eggs and bacon. 👊💥👌
Thank you!
How about covering the drum beat to Deep Purple's song:Fire Ball. That sounds like a very interesting beat, but probably pretty complex.
all those glorious single stroke rolls, and the smile on your face when you knew you nailed it...surprised you plaid it matched grip. not a beginners song to play and you were spot on. beyond impressive, very well done!!
Wow! Requested by a bunch of us, and responded to, thank you George! Amazing playing, plus you went with the live '75 version, which is even faster than the 192 bpm studio version. Ian Paice, another incredible drummer from the Midlands! ✌❤🥁
Thanks Dave, yes….this one truly burns!
George George George crazy amount of singles love Ian my buds a huge purple fan he’s getting this one nice fn job thank you bro
Spirit of Ian. Man you got some hands. Sweetest fills. Could listen a thousand times.
Thanks!
Brilliant George. So much energy. See what you mean re Richie & Ian out of sync.
I met Ian Paice at a drum ‘evening’ with Nicko McBrain in Warrington in 2018. What a gentleman - Deep Purple in Rock was the album that started me playing - Flight of the Rat - Child in Time.
He saying playing going around doing gigs with his dad who was jazz pianist and listening to and watching Gene Krupa (in films) got him started. Some nights he had to drive his dad home (drunk) under age ! Note his early set ups very similar to Bonzo but of course he’s a lefty.
Preferred large => 20in 2002 Paiste crash & ride.
Love you to analyse and dissect the solo on Made in Japan. Wow !
Thanks againGeorge. Have a lovely Thanksgiving 👍🏼🏴🥁🥁👍🏼
Yes indeed! Both of them had the hands too, and that swing in their playing. Love Paicey!!
That's great you met him!!
@@BONHAMOLOGY The evening was a conversation and demo with Nicko. Afterward we were free to get autographs and chat it was great. He was saying that big band jazz was the music of the house, and he and his dad used to gig at dances as a duo doing foxtrots, waltz, quickstep etc.
Also said he accidentally gave away the Made in Japan kit - by letting a neighbour’s son have it - with ‘’take one in the garage’ not thinking it was *that one. He never saw it again.
At some point he fell out with Ludwig either quality or supply and Pearl grabbed him. Yes what a fabulous drummer- his timing superb.
He doesn’t play hard now, after a tia (mini stroke) few years back but still tours (at 74) with DP. Not sure if his wife (Jon Lord’s wife twin) do the Sunflower Jam any more - but they have grandchildren to occupy them !
Thanks again George- have a great weekend. 🥁🏴🏴🥁
@@iorijones6351 really amazing and interesting info, thank you for sharing all of that. He really is one of my favorites and there’s just a really good vibe that comes from him through his playing. I would love to meet him someday.

@@BONHAMOLOGY my favourite guitar riff, and one of my favourite drum performances. Bravo! 🙏
I was looking for examples for playing some of his fills, instead I found this. impostor sindrome intensifies.
Masterful performance sir!
Appreciate that, thank you!
Man, what a workout. Great playing and great sound. Kudos, George!!
Singles singles..fast singles. Ian Paice know about that.

So good to see you play deep purple George!
Now THAT is a workout. Great Job!
I had to slow this one down to watch your snare work are those paradidles ? Incredible
They are a mix, mainly paradiddle combinations and some singles
God DAMN dude!
Amazing drum cover! This is one of my absolute favorite tracks from Purple! As always you nail it George and at the same time add your unique flavor to it! 🙌🏻
Thanks, much appreciated
Ouah !! So great !
Absoefinlutely nailed it and added as icing on the cake your own awesomeness. @ianpaicedrumtribe must be proud.
I hope so, he is a hero of mine for sure
@@BONHAMOLOGY Obviously mine too. He's got to watch this (if he hasn't already). I'll try to forward it to him.
@@OrestisTrips That would be so cool! Thank you!! He might enjoy the big band Basie video I just posted more! 😃
@@BONHAMOLOGY I just have to find the most effective way to text his side. I wish he makes a reaction video - you really deserve this. We have to thank you for all those top drum videos. Irrelevant but every time I see "George Fludas" my Greek mind reads "Γιώργος Φλούδας" - I might be wrong about the Greek origin though :) Take care.
@@OrestisTrips Yes! My father was Greek. I don’t speak but I have a lot of the cultural character! 😃 thanks so much
never realized this song had so much going on ( guitarist;)... outstanding, again. You seem to have enjoyed it yourself, as well!
