- This is the first video in a new series, covering all of How The West Was Won. I'm going to try to get as many of the fills, and subtleties as possible. As always, some fills are hard to make out, what the sticking might have been... for example on Heartbreaker. I'm not sure if he does the fill the first way I did it or the second way (at the end) so I did both, which is actually what it sounds like he did, to me. I think he would do both, depending on the moment. That's a large part of the fun in examining his drumming, thinking about the possibilities and the variations.

@BONHAMOLOGY This is killer stuff your doing covering all the great Bonham moments. Do you feel that 1972 was Bonham's absolute peak of power, energy and speed ? Especially how powerful that Green Sparkle kit sounds. In my opinion that was Bonzo's best sounding kit. How The West Was Won was a pinnacle recording of Zeppelin at their best live even though 73 and 75 had amazing moments as well.

I like how you replicated Bonzo going off the rails during the guitar solo on Immigrant, and winding it back in.
I had first vaccine yesterday. Feeling sh*te today. Seems to be a 24 hour side effect with Oxford vaccine. This was a tonic. George combines good hard rock drumming with finesse and dynamic. Cheers George 🙏🏻👍👌

I did a cover of Heartbreaker. The drumless studio. I’m writing the description. I used one of the fills you seem to always use for your live Hrearbreaker performances. It’s that high hat lift alone (I believe after the lyrics “Get some $). I wanted to thank you for all the Zep you put out, the info, and the lessons
The Phenomenal Señor Fludas! Probably heresy but I actually prefer the sound of your kit here to HTWWW. I was never a big fan of the snare sound on that album.

Really really enjoyed that. I’d love it if you could do some sort of explanation or breakdown of the end solo section on Immigrant Song? I’ve never ever got the hang of how Bonham played that as the backbeat seems to shift around all the time.

It's got me thinking about Zep and tempo. These two are pretty zippy, as are gigs from 77. 73/75 are much more subdued. I can totally understand them playing tunes faster....it's live in front of thousands after all, but I am so curious as to what made them play slower after having played such blazing tempos leading up to those two tours.

Hey, awesome video/channel. I was wondering what you do for hearing protection while drumming to music? I would love to play alone to music but I'm worried about damaging my ears. I had vic firth isolation headphones but my drums are so loud I have to crank the music up. I've also considered the beyerdynamic DT 770. Do you have any you could recommend? Thanks.

Not bad. That live version of Immigrant song has always been kind of a challenge for me as Bonham goes off into improve on live performances of that one. I did notice a few things you do differently during the improves as well as things that are spot on. Would like to chat with you about that some time..

Hey George, recently put a set of Remo vintage emporers/clear ambassodors on my toms, was wondering if that is what you are using.
It's a mix. The factory Ludwig reso heads are clear Amb, and I have a vintage Emperor on the tom, factory Ludwig / Remo Ambassadors in n the floor toms

Awesome as always. Question, though. Is your refrigerator in a closet??? Growing up we had one set in closet in our basement which was for family gatherings and holidays.
Ha, not really a closet It's set back in the wall, into the area where our furnace and St rage is located.
