I have no idea where all you people have come from! But I made this vid a little bit ago and I've learned a lot since: You can run 1TB in a 5.5th gen, the limiting factor is HOW MANY songs you have, not how much space you use. The iPod was running out of RAM, it can't count high enough for the big library. It's why individual albums played fine but asking it to shuffle 40K songs was too much. But thankfully Shrek played fine. I've also run this iPod with a safe 30,000 tracks and filled the rest as a hard dive full of random anythings. Literally like 500GB of junk and everything worked fine as a portable hard drive. Super neato. But it's still not the most reliable form of storing data... it's a 2007 iPod. It's all because of poor coding, and because of the fact, they were not made to handle this much storage. If Apple wanted it had programmed the shuffle feature in a way that it factors the songs in segments and then out of that sector it can choose a random number according to that choose the segment and do this at most 5 times... Not really that difficult, plenty of space in there. Just gut a minijack bluetooth receiver, hook it up to the battery and hardwire it to the minijack port pads. Its doable, but a bit tricky to do well. It doesn't draw a lot of power though - those cheap BT4.0 round receivers you get from Mao's Candy Mountain for $2-3, has a board the length of about two microSDs and about 2/3rds the width of one - 3 ish mm tall. And a 60mA litium cell, which can run my old thirsty Bose QCs for a good 3-4 hours at fairly high volume. That's with continous audio output. Idle it'll draw far less. Depending on your usecase, that might be acceptable to leave on permanently. There's possibly some 3.7V+ lines you could hook into that aren't live when the iPod is sleeping, but where they are, and whether they csn tolerate such a parasitic load, I don't know.

:(
Facts

my hard drive is like 80 gigs end me please
*laughs in 2tb 2009 pc *
Laughs in half a terabyte
Anybody know the name of the song on 4:38 I’ve heard this on another RUclipsr’s channel and I can’t figure it out
Otis mcdonald - does it float
Reminds me of my fav little mp3 player, the original Sony Walkman 1.5" COLOR LED screen! I watched so many music videos on that 64gb beauty, listened to all the boybands I crushed over so long ago... 💜
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos soundtrack? I approve.
Right?? Its a total jam
When a mid-2000s iPod has more gigabytes than an iPhone 11 Edit: also it’s standardized that just makes matters worse
If only iPhones and other big OEMS had SD slots.
I bought 120 extra GB for my Note 8 for $25. Yup, just $25 for a genuine Samsung SD. 💅
I'm not trying to brag or anything 💅
Y'know. Just saying. 💅
(It's encrypted, too!)
Mind 2000’s would be 2500 😂
Mig 28 i purchased a 128gb for only £13, ive gotten a better deal than you but not trying to brag or anything 🤗
@@novanova4978 😂 it seems you did get a better deal!
DogeDude Playz Nintendo Switch’s use android, if mod it enough you could probably turn it into a phone and you can put a 1TB micro SD in it.
I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed this vid and all of your reactions, I can’t wait to try this now 😊
I miss my old 30gb iPod “video” as it was referred to back in ‘05

Hey! Thanks for jumping in 🙌

They should make an iPod classic again, 2gb of ram, and 2.5 inch drive form factor which will lead to bigger battery, bigger screen, bigger wheel for larger collection, accelerometer for drops so the drive can park before failure. Boom life proof, also i69 resistance.
Now for the real test, get macOS to load on the iPod.
XlXi There is too much Hard Drive space for Mac OS 9 and below to run though
What you doing?
Me: Watching someone syncing his ipod.
Damn, I used to repair and mod iPods back in high school in the late 00's. This video really takes me back. The 5.5 gen was by far my favorite model to use and work on, and was able to work with non-iTunes players at the time
Can an ipod run Spotify?
I now feel like doing this to my iPod, even though I already upgraded my iPhone 6 to 128GB...
He probably means getting a new one at the Apple store...
Person: *Tries to shuffle songs on Ipod*
Settings: *Let me introduce myself*
I just bought my 128g 5.5 gen with 3000mah bat tree from Elite Obsolete. I am so so so excited. The 5.5s are ahhhhmazing.
You have to the grounding point closer to the floor
I’m sorry
Ipod: I cant access you hard drive!
Harddrive: Oh its because im broken
I think you're my new favorite youtuber, never seen someone get so excited over an Ipod Classic Battery.
Have I ever planned on doing this: No
Am I competent enough to do this: heck no
Am I going to subscribe: yes
4:17 "Look at the ssss(hhahaaaa)"

I remember watching this as soon as it was released.
*and thus a legend was born*
I have one black 30GB. And it still runing perfectly
You could literally go years and never have to add songs to this.
Man the music on this channel is so chill and great.
In high school, as a precursor to memes, my friend installed the Tune software on an iPod. I thought it was hilarious.
DankPods: Shuffle
Ipod: You're going to the settings menu, Jimbo
Coming back to this video is amazing. Seeing your growth is fantastic. Here’s to your first million subs and to your subsequent millions from here
You need more views 🔥 Such an underated channel! Keep up the good work!!
Hey thanks so much!!
iPod: is charging
DankPods: *WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*
Man he's CALM
I really want an iPod classic now, it's an amazing piece of tech and would make Spotify on my phone redundant.
I’m getting a iPod touch product red with en engraving iShrek and AirPods engraved with ShrekPods
I remember watching this back in December 2020, his first vide i watched
same
Spotify Shuffle with millions of tracks: exists
Nobody:
DankPod: 1TB iPod Shuffle with a few thousand song that takes you to settings
Yeah, some of us like music that doesn't stop when you lose reception on a device that has enough battery to last more than a day.
@@TheDemocrab i have spotify premium so no problems there👍
Tbh Spotify shuffle is crap. Often end up with the same songs not long later. Sometimes it'll double all the songs but if you remove one of the two or removes both 😑
@@DanielPasta Spotify premium doesn't affect your reception or battery life, though. Streaming simply requires you to have a data connection and uses more battery (by using said data connection) by default lol
@@TheDemocrab I have all my playlists saved for offline use anyways. Have the storage capacity so why not to save data or when I can't get reception. I was just pointing out that the shuffle mode isn't the best
DankPods: "Bob's your auntie mate. " xD Fucking hilarious.
Much love from England.
The fact that the playlist containing all of dankpods videos is seemingly in no particular order kinda adds to the scuff charm of the dankpods channel, not chronological, alphabetical, popularity, or anything.
If there’s ever a zombie apocalypse I want this iPod
Really?
Literally have your whole music library in your pocket (plus the rest of your iTunes stuff that will work with it XD)
You must have the broadest sense of music ever, my guy. An Australian listening to Norwegian country, I'd never thought I'd see the day.
Apple: How do we make a successful product?
DankPods: Does it play Shrek?
Apple: Yes
DankPods: well that's a billion dollars worth of technology right there
