Hammond has a long love story with these kinds of cars 👀 ruclips.net/video/z3p29TwslVE/видео.html
because we all know he's american
he knows hes american
he just refuses to admit it
@@yeoldeseawitch I’d say so since he owns a Ranger
Clarkson has said once again one of the greatest things ever on television : comparing traction control with nymphomania control on a nun. Unique never will we see a moment like this
Nymphomania*
I cant believe they discontinued the focus. It was an amazing car and one of the best hot hatches on the market.
Well, money talks. People wanna buy crossovers and SUVs and companies listen to whoever gives them money. Sad truth.
I'd rather have a Golf or 3series (than a Focus)
@@ZJS0113 but unfortunately all you can afford is a VW UP!
Lol 😂
@@user-fd1gf6yc5j I'd rather buy a clapped out Yaris
All Fords are shite.
"He's got 5 litres and i only got 2.3"
"Is he going twice as fast,? NO HE IS NOT"
Short drag races dont mean anything, top speed is what mattered
New Focus RS gets to 170mph
New Mustang GT gets to 177mph
@@hybridAbsol top speed doesn’t matter, who’s driving along at 177mph everyday? However you do go 0-60 a lot more often.
@@hybridAbsol that is a huge difference 😅
Yes but, one sounds tinny with a turbo and the other sounds glorious.
@@marksowerby1163Exactly mate
I love it when Clarkson admits he just said that the Focus is better just to ruin Hammond's day and it was fun🤣
It is.
@@stephensuhayda1966 the focus is actually a great car, just not better than the mustang.
Ikr he totally ruined him.
Except for the past where Clarkson shifted to 4th too early and bungled the lead.
I owned a 2016 Ford Mustang GT Premium in Deep Impact Blue for six delicious, delightful years. It was a joy to drive, and I got more compliments on it than EVERY OTHER CAR I've ever owned ... *COMBINED!* I did finally let it go, but its V8 burble and its playful responsiveness will stick with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you, Ford!
Similar story here, 2008 Bullitt did it for me for 4 years....wonderful memories.
What you got now, I to got a gt and coming up to 6 years
I've got a 2020 Mustang Ecoboost and, even without the V8, I get so many comments. My missus absolutely hates the attention, as she doesn't understand why anybody would come over to comment, but we can't go to the supermarket without somebody making some kind of comment on it. It baffles me a little, as it's not an expensive car, but it is rarer (and better looking) than the similar priced BMWs and Audis.
I had the RS for 2 1/2 years and currently have a 2022 Mustang GT V8 with MagneRide. The RS was sharper, more spritely and responsive but was a harsh ride for long journeys even in standard mode. The Mustang isn't as fast, is really only a 2 seater and the boot design awkward. However the Mustang is a nicer place to be for medium-long journeys and that V8 puts a bigger smile on my face. I do occasionally miss the RS but feel it was better suited to track days. The Mustang on the motorway barely uses any more petrol than than the RS but around town the Mustang is way more fuel hungry. Both are awesome cars but I have to give the biggest smile to the Mustang.
Did you ever track your mustang? I have brilliant and surprisingly good a guy in a focus r/s couldn’t get anywhere near me at Brands Hatch Ford day
I've driven from the southern tip of Florida to Toledo, Ohio in both a 13' Focus ST and a '19 EB Mustang. The Mustang, without a doubt was the more enjoyable ride, barring the hills of Kentucky/Tennessee (If you've driven I-75 you know the section). The Focus was the best for short highway bombs and traffic, the Mustang as you said is much more suited for longer journey trips.
I could make it from Naples, FL to Lexington, KY (12ish hours) before stopping to sleep in the Mustang, in the Focus I'd only ever get to Chattanooga (8-ish hours) or nearabouts because the ride just wore me out. That goes without saying, once I finish paying off the Mustang, I'm going to look into a used RS.
Focus RS is my dream car, such an incredible machine that's still practical for everything else.
Replace the stock 19 inch wheels with 18s and 245/40 rubber and the car is much better over bumps. Ford also revised the struts front and rear for 2018s for softer ride and better handling, and these can be bought for any model year mk3.
When you say that the Mustang "isn't as fast" that kind of depends on how good a driver you are. Like you, I have owned both, for me the Mustang is fastest because without doubt it wins in a straight line (anyone can drive fast in a straight line), but to get the extra speed on a track through better handling of the RS, you have to be a well above average driver. As the GT boys concluded, in truth there is an obvious winner between these two, and it ain't a focus.
These dudes never fail to make me laugh
Yep the greatest show ever. I have watched it since I was 3. Today I am 13
It's so sad that the Ford Focus RS was discontinued while the Ford Mustang is still on sale till this day.
Would be due to sales. Turns out people want a 8 cylinder of sports car an not 4
Yea, not all of us feel that way. Americans grew up with horse power. When the mustang came out, England was driving around in mostly underpowered crap. The Ford Cortina for example.
@@Steve.Cutler didnt the Capri exist? I mean Im american but I still prefer the Capri over the crowd-killer.
@@yeoldeseawitch yes, it was the Mercury Capri here in America, if you'd rather take a Capri over a Mustang, you're not a car guy.
@@Steve.Cutler wrong wrong wrong. The real European Capri is an incredibly desirable car. And ofc taste
Focus rs and mustang gt is a good duo tbh 🤷♂️
"... and on a first date you don't want a fat balding uncle tagging along." LMAO! 😂🤣
Hammond showcasing that he is an American again.
You know the video is good when you didnt notice the quality was 480p until the end
The feels like watching Need For Speed Most Wanted intro
4:06 just a small haze of blue smoke there… these are Fords, I expected nothing less.
I hope they have many more years together
The Focus would win the Traffic Light Grand Prix though.
Nicely done !! I love both cars !!
focus for smiles per miles, mustang for slightly faster in a straight line. focus all day
As much as I love the Focus RS as a pocket rocket, my time working at a Ford dealership showed me another side of it. They were always in the shop for transmission issues, and the owners were constantly aggravated by it. Not sure if it was a manufacturing fault, or the owners being too rough with em
I've had two fords in my life, one frequently caught fire. The other had a factory standard transmission that couldn't handle the power output of the factory standard engine. The first time it blew up, it punctured my water pump and my radiator. That lead me to believe the manufacturing was quite possibly done by a team of incompetents.
Was this the automatic or MT trans?
Yeah even Richard Hammond’s one in, The Grand Tour: A Massive Hunt, had the same issue where the clutch went.
Strange, because my parents have only ever had Fords and each has lasted pretty well with minimal issues. The previous one we had was an 07 Mondeo 2.0 diesel, and that lasted almost 10 years despite towing a large caravan for most journey's.
Ford putting chocolate gearboxes in their cars, shock
My son owns a blue RS go cart. I get to drive it on occasion. It’s quick but not overly fast.
Best "hot hatch" ever. Sad to see it go away. Turbo, AWD, and that sweet exhaust. Making the Mustang GTD does soothe the pain. Now just one last thing, make a production AWD Mustang.
The Focus rocks! 🪨
Já estou com saudades desses velhos.
Great way to start the day
One correction Hammond, I owned a brand new 04 svt mustang cobra. It has independent suspension.
Epic video Guys 👍. Thow , not that good here in Canada. When you have snow & icey road from 4 months of the year.
I just walked through the showroom to get to the service dept at Sandicliffe Ford in Leicester earlier today. On display in the showroom was a Mustang Mach 1 ...a snip at £65k !!
David v’s that Goliath guy! Love it!
I’ve driven a the mustang. Amazing car.
I don't want to go around a corner fast, I want to go around a corner fun
Chav machine from Slough…. Or a Roush supercharged 5ltr V8 that turns heads and makes the street rumble …?
I see alot of comments on here about "reliability" issues with the Focus RS, I own a 2017, bought brand new now has about 100k miles on it, have done multiple mods and acouple of tunes and the car has been and is completely solid! Meanwhile a friend of mine who owns a 2020 Charger RT had to replace his engine at 40k miles....
Lowkey it is a myth the focus RS is an unreliable car. The issue is with the earlier models not getting the correct headgasket. Other than that there are increasing reports of 100k+ models out there doing quite well.
FLIPPING OUTSTANDING. HOW GOOD WAS THAT. GORGEOUS RS FOCUS.
Love Grand Tour so much. Best car chase since Bullit. 🤣👍🏻😎🚀
The best part about the focus is that because of its much smaller engine, it gets much better mileage.
I miss the fab three Their voices are lovely. That was exciting. Footage
I always wished they would drive the Ford Taurus SHO. Such a sleeper car
But it ain't as reliable nor as robust as the Ford Crownvic with its 4.6L SOHC 2V Modular V8.
One of the bits of the title should be swapped. It currently reads like Jeremy drove the mustang and Richard drove the ford :P
Love my ‘17 nitrous blue RS. Should hold its value better than a mustang all day long too
I'd hold on that for as long as I could lol
The RS is looking nimble and very sharp.. i wish i could drive one!!!!!
It is so fun car to drive 🥰
Hammond saying its hammertime 💫💥
Focus rs is a rare sight in the United States.
You guys were the best, I don't even watch the new American version, they're corny ass shit, you guys made the show a show and genuinely hilarious
To do a controlled car chase would be so much fun
That Mustang's sound is glorious.
Hm hm..I own Mustang GT 2017 and I soon change axle back muflers ( put Ford Performace by Borla ) becouse stock one ( maybe only in EU ) ...complet exoust is not that sound what you would expect forom a 5.0 V8 motor.
0:47 Seems there's a British Institute for everything these days.
So when are you going to drive the American Canadian road from Montana to Alaska?
2023 Mustang GT Premium in race red with a blackout package. Love every mile.
Very good
Had to replace my engine in the RS after 55K miles, the head gaskets and then the entire headers after 10K. Had multiple exhaust brackets snap hitting speed bumps at 60mph, had the brake booster self destruct as I was exiting a highway at over 100mph…The Sport Cup 2 tires cost about $1,500 a set and last maybe 4,000 miles for me, none of my girlfriends or random bar chicks since I’ve had it have ever been impressed by it or even known what it is, I’m 35 and a cop once gave me a speeding warning for 99mph and told me I was “too old for this car”?!, and STILL, it is the best car I have ever owned!
Which country are you in?
lol yes. The focus RS rocks.
The music was almost similar to split second game
The mustang actually got IRS the first time in the New Edge Cobra variant. Didn't really make a difference as it was still maniacally unstable.
Can car companies go back to this year we were spoiled for choice
This video: has cheese
Also this video: does not have James May
What have you done
James May is absent in this short film
Ford focus is a car for the young working class. Mustangs are for people who love fast cars, but also a good time and 😊 fun
On wet twisty roads the Focus RS can be beaten only by the latest crop of Audi RS3. VW and Mercedes each of which developed in response to the RS success an oversteering-capable 4WD systems
Imitation is the nicest form of flattery.
In Canada, there is the weirdest competition for sales of vehicles. Maybe it's an elder millennial mid life crisis thing, but, a lot of Canadians who buy Mustangs also consider buying a Jeep, and vice versa. 2 more different vehicles could not exist, but somehow they are in direct competition for Canadian car buyers.
The Fords of Canada 🇨🇦 we're 2 Mercury Canadian Sub-brands like Meteor and Monarch.
Which mustang is this
The Mustang GT will kill the RS in 5-60mph where the RS doesn't get to use its Launch Control.
Si cierto. Y después vete a una carretera muy muy revirada y haber que pasa.
Any cheese is better that Monterey Jack in a can….. well with the exception of American processed cheese sliced
Nobody tell the bongs Monterey Jack is an American Cheese...or that cheese slices are at least 90% cheese, ~9% whey, and
Still sad you lost huh? Lol
@@DxBlack yea proper cheddar cheese slices maybe not the processed crap you Americans eat
It’s so plastic and disgusting and just an abomination to cheese
The fact the foe focus got the mustang off the line and mostly through the race speaks volumes. Wow impressive. Lol 👍😉
Could just be that Hammonds a shit driver😅
Kidna expected, car is lighter and has AWD. Mustnag has better top end and Top speed
The 2020 mustang GT is my daily. My baby is the 2018 dodge charger Daytona.
The first chance was so obviously filmed on some kinda test track
Yeah, I'm sure that "The British Institute of Car Cases" sign gave that away.
@@DxBlack I'm pretty sure that was made up and put in for ironic humour
Mustang or Ford Focus.. crikey they're not even comparing like for like cars. Many cars will out perform a Mustang, maybe more agile on the open road but would I swap my Mustang for any other car? No way. The best car I've ever owned. I've driven so many in the US that they just take me back to open roads. Wedon't celebrate how a car makes you feel enough in the country. I open my garage to see the Mustang and instantly feel excited, would I with the a Focus, No. I've owned Audis since 1997 and as good as my 21 year old A4 is, it does not stir the soul like a Mustang.
Two fords. Blue vs red. Hatchback vs coupe.
Sister just sold her focus RS to me it has 40K milies on it, don’t worry boys I’ll take care of her
If you like driving fast in a straight line for a bit then a Mustang is absolutely for you.
I've driven one and the build quality on that thing was absolutely atrocious. It's almost as bad as the Tesla.
I have a focus, 2 transmission modules later, other than that it's an amazing car
Two great cars but on a b road the rs would be in the next county
Rather liked the Clash (never has so much been done with only 3 Chords) Henley... not so much..
Richard Hammond is an American😌
Say what you like about the mustang. It's been around for near 60 years and it's an iconic car. Plus compared to this focus rs it will be remembered more positively, because of the huge reliability problems that rs had.
Lately, what the Grand Canyon _has_ come with is explosive gastroenteritis.
Go Steve! And Jeremy's right, it would be The Clash.
Funny no way a 0-60 in 4.5 sec focus accelerates faster than a 4.2 sec Mustang 🤣
I had a 16' premium v8 mustang. It was ridiculous. The moment I gave it a little too much gas it would go off but the rear would jump left or right dragging the car along. I am a pretty good driver, but the mustang is very violently unpredictable. wish I never sold it.
These guys strike me as the British three stooges. And I say that as a compliment.
The focus is just a road legal family f1 car
HI
So the Focus, arguably one of Ford's best cars, is no longer available in N.America - only the Mustang and, of course, their extensive line up of pickups and SUVs. You have to go to Europe now to get a decent Ford car. Figure that one out.
Unfortunately......the Focus is dead in a few years
The Focus is an unreliable appallingly engineered piece of shit.
For me I chose the Coyote V8 Mustang over overpriced EcoBoost 4 cylinder Focus RS anyday mate.
You don't need a Ford Fiesta RS to beat a Mustang, I've seen drag races where old cars have been faster than supercars
But it’s Focus not fiesta bro
Well right it's a Focus RS
@@albert9784 don’t worry 😊
Have a beautiful day Everyone
the next thing ya know is richard is upside down… again😂
i dOn'T wAnT cHeEsE
Mustangs are designed, built and sold at a price aimed at a domestic American market that just doesn't know any better.
Jeremy just give me that Ford focus instead of burning it tires .
The Mustang looks 100 times better than the Focus.. I'd rather be seen in the Mustang
I love Mustangs
Same here mate
It at least shows that anyone with a Ecoboost mustang is a fool.
At 0.21 Hammond is in a yellow Mustang. Do I win a prize?
The rs is a rs2000 of today
I think history won’t be kind to that generation of Focus, or the RS.
Unreliability killed the breed.
European Ford vs American Ford, go figure Eh.
American "Mike" Born
Ayo
Ahh, Cheddar Gorge. Thousands of years ago cavemen used to live there, but now they drive their cars there.
Why couldn't a Mustang compete with a Camaro?
Nice, i choose the BMW M5 competition
Thats good for ye
Just goes to show there no replacement for displacement
