I am planning on it.
@@TheCrowleyCrew I have the Viltrox EF-M Speed booster and pair it with the Canon EF 35mm f2. Would love to see how it compares to the Viltrox 23mm!
I would LOVE to see them put out a 10-15 lens for the EF-M platform!
That would be awesome! I wouldn’t even mind if it was an f2.8
@@TheCrowleyCrew in viltrox lens roadmap they have a 13mm f/1.4 for aps-c camera :)
@@benmetamosaic741 What about 85mm?
10% off if you use the code Crowley10 on the Viltrox website store. Link in the description.
Edit: I got the price for the 33mm wrong, it is actually $259. Sorry about that.
Correct if you subtract your code though haha
Wait..what! Awesome! I have been looking for an affordable 50 mm range for my Canon M50 for photography. It sounds really Good. Another great video!
Thanks for the code. Bought it!
Thanks Mate! Hugs from Lisbon! Keep safe 👌
Oh! This is exciting 🙌 Would love to see some footage on how it does outside with the elements 😄 Thanks again for your dedication M50 Sensei 🙇♂️
That is so coming! 👍
Great job on reviewing these new lenses. Will be interesting to see how they do in outdoor video scenarios.
Just ordered! Thanks!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hope they come out with a black on...silver looks way too off on a black M50
I kinda like it.
Always great content. I'll be ordering once of these bad boys. I generally use the 22mm 2.0 for most of my content - which is sitting and talking with a little B roll. Is the 23mm to close to what I have, so would the 33mm be better for variation lenses?
Great video as always, Job! Very interesting lenses indeed!
wow, new lenses look great. Thanks for sharing these with us.
Sounds exciting! Go Viltrox! X
Wow! 23mm F/1.4 with EF-M mount!
Great video!
Love it 👍
amazing, I love the aperture ring mechanism.
yeah, I'm totally agreed with you, if just viltrox can come with a wide and big aperture lens, let's say 15mm maybe, I'm sold.
Nice job on the video. That speed ramp slider thing you did looks cool! I've noticed a few more quirks with the ones I have, but overall they do seem pretty solid.
You got the set too? Are you going to be making a review on them?
I am thinking of making a video about the slider technique I used.
What other quirks have you been dealing with?
@@TheCrowleyCrew Yeah, I published a video eariler today. The post office I have a PO Box at sent my package back to fedex so I was late to the party (I have the "real address" feature and have gotten packages that way before). In fully automatic video I'm seeing a pulsing look. The apertures are changing too much compared to my canon/sigma glass. I also have a random reset type thing where the lenses go out of focus and cycle the aperture. Half press gets the lens working as normal in that case. Happened 4-5 times (clips in the video).
I like the idea as they are targeting crop sensors and giving sizes in what would convert to sizes for full frame. Manual aperture ring and auto mode is a plus too.
Me too! The 35mm equivalent is such a great focal length.
Canon already has a native EF-M 22mm f2 auto ... i would be interested of they make a 16mm 1.4 less expensive than Sigma's though
Great job buddy!
Thanks man!
Just found your channel I’m a m 50 user. Thanks for the content
My m50 arrives tomorrow, very exciting! I'll keep these lenses in mind for down the road.
I've been looking at these lenses on Amazon and always wondered why they dont have EF-M lenses. I'm glad they made it. Thank you for sharing this video.
Do more such lenses videos... liked viltrox.
Would you recommend the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 or one of the Viltrox lens if I want to upgrade from the lit lens or 22mm? I would like my myself to pop out more and be sharper with the bokeh background?
I think right now I would suggest the 16mm if you can afford it. The Viltrox lenses are good but I think the 16mm focal length is better for RUclips and handheld. If Viltrox comes out with the 13mm this year it might trump the 16mm but as for now the Sigma is still kinda the best. I think the 23mm doesn’t give enough of an advantage to replace the 22mm. If you didn’t have either I would suggest the 23 but since you have the 22 I think the 16 would be more valuable.
@@TheCrowleyCrew Thx for the swift response...do I need an adaptor for it or does it fit straight on and does it have stabilization built into the lens (not necessary but would be nice)?
Great looking Lenes....interesting. Looking at that 23mm F1.4
It has become my favorite lens!
Game changer!
I wanted to start buying EF lenses from now on for future proofing my lens collection but the prices on these lenses is so compelling!
I think you should have talked about the crop factor as well. These lenses are 37mm and 53mm equivalent on a full frame. The 53mm is a great competitor to the nifty fifty + adapter at a stellar price.
Noyce, more silver EF-M lenses. Love these for my black and silver M6ii.
crowley, tq for the video, this is great. man i wish viltrox would do 11mm f/2.0 and 15mm f/1.4. if they can do those two, they are gonna destroy the vlogging section and everyday wide angle lens. i see you have become quite the big voice in the space. please send this to them. i know you would agree
Totally agree!! Those would dominate so much 🤩🤩 It would cancel out Canon's future 15mm F/2.0🤣 release
@@jcheero84 well, canon already been destroyed by sigma 16mm f/1.4. if they can do 11mm f/2.0, that would dominate vlog section of the market. they are no fast ultrawide primes currently. prices it cheaper and viltrox would dominate the market. and i hope they allows us to change mount if we sent it to them
First of all, really nice video as always.
Wow, this are two really interesting lenses. But what is very important for all that use the lenses for filming is, how much noise does the autofocus motor makes. Is it more like the kit lense or the 50mm. And i assume cause you haven't mentioned it and for the relatively low price, they do not have image stabilisation. It would be nice if they offer a image stabilised version for a little higher price of course. And it also would be nice if they offer a black version, at least in my opinion.
Greetings
The auto focus is quite. At least as quite as the 22mm and much quieter than the 50mm. No they don’t have stabilization, you don’t see a lot of APS-C or Full Frame f1.4 lenses that are stabilized. My guess is the lens would have to be bigger, but I really don’t know.
Very informative video mate! Great news about new lenses! Viltrox we need something bright and wide! 😉 keep going my friend
Their lens roadmap says there is an APS-C 13mm f1.4 coming in 2021, but it doesn’t says whether it will be in the EF-M mount.
@@TheCrowleyCrew fingers crossed for ef-m!
this is beautiful i love the 22mm f2 does this have a manual switch? that would be perfect..
This 23mm f1.4 can do manual focus and manual aperture.
@@TheCrowleyCrew OMG YES I NEED THAT ONE!
Yes! We need 10mm - 15mm at 1.4! That would be awesome 👌 these are great lenses.
I would be okay with a 10mm f1.4 or f2 prime. We’ll see I guess.
@@TheCrowleyCrew YES that will work as well! Please let them know for us! 😁
Good finally you start to get some more growth on RUclips
Me too hope they release black version to match the M50
I really want a fast prime with image stabilization in it. Basically an IS STM 35mm like the EF.
Great video, and a lens in the really wide area would be great. But as long as canon isn't in the mood to bring us an efm body with ibis, I would prefer some glas with a slight Stabilization. At least for the micro jitters, even for the cost of losing light. I would love to use an 12mm f2/f2.8 for Vlogging which is in an acceptable price range:)
Love the Aperture ring 👌🏼Do they come in Black colour??
Now what I really want to see is something between 60 and 100mm lens for the m50. Also, I love the idea of a physical dial for aperture(add ISO as well?😂)
which lens takes better pictures: the Sigma 30mm.14 or the Viltrox 33mm 1.4
You are right, a wider lens would sell for sure. Next they should work on their own camera system because Canon is not investing in the M line as they should given the amount of sales..
Are you saying this lens doesn't need an adaptor and can screw directly onto the M50? What's the difference in quality between this and the nifty fifty as I was thinking that would be the best next lens to get?
Yes, it is native EF-M. I think this one is sharper and quieter than the nifty-fifty.
I trust this guy when it comes to review 👌
Is the 23mm worth it if you already have the 22mm F2 from Canon? Definitely getting that 33mm though to replace the nifty fifty like you did. That 50mm and adapter video was how I found your channel.
I am gonna do a video on that. Have to do more test before deciding if the upgrade is worth it.
@@TheCrowleyCrew Excellent. Looking forward to the comparison vid.
The answer i was looking for :)
I thought I was watching Christopher Frost for a minute haha. You are the M50 guy for sure. You are right, if they make a 14mm or under 1.4 they will sell a ton of them. Thanks for the video man.
Hi can you do a comparisons video with sigma 16 1.4?
Yes I wan a 10mm wide angle lens too.
I want a black version not a flashy silver one :-(
Good lens for en great price, awful color match with my black canon eos m5 and my GF’s black canon m50
yah I agree the silver is awful looking....
Oh nice, very exciting to see more lenses coming out for the Canon M cameras! Especially since these are so affordable! It would be nice to hear whether the Sigma 30mm or this Viltrox 33mm is better for Canon M50 😊
Yeah, I am super excited! I think @Scott_Waldron here on RUclips has both and might be a good person to ask. I haven’t personally used the sigmas, so I can’t compare.
@@TheCrowleyCrew thanks for the tip! 🤩
Take my money!
👏👏👏 competitive pricing
Thanks for sharing. Still, I am not in the market for that range. Already own the 30mm and 16mm Sigma 1.4. I wish they came out with a fast zoom wich is what the EFM lenses range lack in my opinion. A 10 or 12mm 1.4 would be the bomb too :-)
I'm a loyal user of Canon's 22mm for my M50.
Is the Viltrox 23mm enough of an improvement to make further investment in a similar lens?
Gonna do a video comparing them. Don’t know yet.
@@TheCrowleyCrew look forward to that video
I had a viltrox EF-NEX adaptor. That was fine when I use autofocus lens on my Sony A7II. But then I use my Voigtlander 20mm lens, that lens infinity are at 1.5m .. I cannot use the marking on that lens with that adaptor. I finally bought a MC-11 and that work perfect. It turns out, the viltrox adaptor are 1mm longer than it should be. so infinity are at 1.5M mark.
Hey, Does these lens (listed below) make any noise while focusing. (I make video of camping & hiking , so audio is also important to me). Hence I would like to know if these lens make any sort of noises while focusing (even though if its lower noise, it will be captured in shotgun mic, so need your help in knowing it)
It is as quite as my kit lens. Quieter than the Nifty Fifty.
@@TheCrowleyCrew thank you..
How does the lens fare pass f16 does it suffer any major refraction
It goes from f1.4-f16 and it fares pretty well from what I have seen so far. Still testing it.
I’m amazed that it replaced the 22 mm. I would have thought that with both lenses at f2 the 22mm would be sharper edge to edge. The Sigma are made in Japan and the Viltrox I believe is made in China. The aperture ring is nice. Does it click?
Nope. It is smooth. The size and weight of the 23mm is better for video.
What would you recommend with the two?
I like the 23mm more
I own the Sigma 16mm and 56mm lenses, which I really love. I have been eyeing the 32mm Canon... Now I am thinking of getting the 33mm instead. It would be way cheaper!
Strange that there are like only a couple of videos about these lenses in all of youtube. I would have thought the vloggers would've been eager to do a first-look video on a new EF-M lens. I'm tempted to get the Sigma lenses for my M50, but for half the price if these Viltrox are good enough then I just might buy these instead.
Wonderful! ... the 22mm is sweet little lense, is 23mm that much better? Wow! 😀
an extra shallow depth of field, still a small lens. extra stop of light. what's not to like. if you really need pancake lens then it's another issue
I too love the compact, sharp 22mm, as it's very good in low light and so easy to handle. I'm not sure the 23mm is worth the extra investment. I already made the mistake of buying the 11-22mm, which is heavy and bad in low light.
@@HooksHollands 11-22 is heavy? that thing is light as a feather.
Did you shot the video in 4k with the m50 ?
That's what I'm wondering as well. Or was it upscaled @The Crowley Crew ?
waiting for their 13mm coming up.
Me too!
@@TheCrowleyCrew viltrox wesbite is down for days, hopefully when it backup, new lens are announceing like 13mm f1.4 lol
Bro no mention of Canon in your title.love your video
Thanks! The title is longer than is recommended already.
33mm seems to have been bumped up for $259 on the website. I already have a Sigma 16mm, debating on getting the 33 but not sure I need the 23
Hmm. Maybe I miss remembered. Sorry!
@@TheCrowleyCrew no, it’s them I saw it at $239. If you search Viltrox EF-M 33mm on google google still has it cached at $239 also
Nice lense how they are doing in vlog mode?
Gonna be testing and making a video about that. Pretty similar to the 22mm from canon.
@@TheCrowleyCrew i will waiting for ;-) thanks
Price wise the 33mm 1.4 is comparable to the Sigma 30mm 1.4 but slightly cheaper with your discount here in Canada. I've been waiting to get a good 30mm for both video and photos. This makes it very interesting. 😀 Good problem to have.
How does the Viltrox 23mm fair against the Canon 22mm ef-m? (Sharpness, vignette, etc.)
I have not fully compared them, gonna do a video on that, but overall I like the 23mm more.
@@TheCrowleyCrew can't wait to watch that video. Another great video. Thank you for uploading this. 👍🏽
Why no video samples?
what is the perfect zoom lens for indoor portraits for m50
Depends on the look. An 105mm gives a different look than a 35mm. Neither is worse but you need to figure out the type of portraits you want to take. Zdenka Darula here on RUclips should be able to help you more, she is a professional portrait photographer that knows the M50 as good as I do.
The 56mm Sigma is supposed to be a beast for portraits.
i shoot with the eos m, i wonder how the auto focus is with this, i hope theres a manual focus option
they are not compatible with the M or the M2. They'll work with all the others.
@@TheCrowleyCrew how wait so i can't use this with my eos m + magic lantern? T_T
Unfortunately no. Canon did a huge firmware shift after the M2. That is why all the later Eos M Cameras don’t have magic lantern. I guess it was to difficult or expensive to adapt it to both. Maybe it will get updated and become compatible in the future, but I doubt it.
@@TheCrowleyCrew interesting, so i guess i'll have to stick to 7artisans lenses then, you should check out the 7artisans 12mm f2.8 if you haven't already!
Viltrox v sigma? which one 🤔 great video man!
That is a hard one cause I haven’t used the sigma. Ask Scott Waldron, I think he has both.
Soon.
Please tell viltrox to make a 15mm f1.4 lens for vlogging and with IS.
I think I will. Even without IS though a 10mm or 15mm f1.4 would be awesome!
Works in the original eos m?
Unfortunately no. They completely changed the firmware on the M3 and all cameras after that so the Eos m won’t work.
@@TheCrowleyCrew that explain a lot, thanks. I must upgrade mi rig :(
wow that price though
wow is cheaper than sigma 33 f1.4

no video demo talk all BS.
