The Sigma EF-M 16mm, 30mm and 56mm f/1.4 DC DN really saved Canon’s EOS M line. One of the major criticisms of the line is the lack of fast, sharp primes - well, problem fixed!
Sigma recently released their trio of lenses for the EF-M mount and I was so excited to try them out. I already used the Sigma 16mm for Sony E mount in this review of the a6600: • YOU SHOULD BUY the Son...
I was super happy with all three lenses. They are affordable, fast and sharp!

What's up everyone?! I hope this review of the Sigma 16, 30 and 56mm f/1.4 for Canon EOS M was helpful. These lenses are absolutely awesome and I would definitely pic up all three if it’s in your budget. Let me know what you think!!
Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏
Hello Friend,
I will be upgrading my lens for my M50 by selling of my existing 18-150EFM lens.
Purpose: Landscape, Portrait, VLOG
Please help me out what to pick without cutting much into my pocket?
Few I have shortlisted.
Canon EF-M 11-22MM
Canon EF-M 22MM
Sigma 16MM F 1.4
Sigma 30MM F1.4
There's definitely a difference between the microphone internal and the external one. You can't hear the autofocus with the external mic.
ruclips.net/video/2J4C_RDEg5Y/видео.html see if that helps
Which is the most versatile for talking head and talking from lounge sceneries?
I'm looking for the 56mm equivalent for my SLR3, any recommendations?
This dude is incredible! Nobody makes better videos like this.
Thanks so much Tom 🙏🏻
So true, I have watched all his M50 videos.
Honestly, Sigma saved CANON APSC as well as SONY APSC!! I have the sony e mount version and they're the SHARPEST, fastest auto focusing lens (except for the new G master) for SONY APSC!!
Good point Stan - appreciate the input.
The compete against Zeiss but for a minimum price, they are amazing lenses
you've got some of the best tutorials on youtube!
Thank you so much 🙏 Glad you enjoy them.
I see a dope thumbnail from my guy, I click without even thinking!
Appreciate it Terry 👊 (watching your 85 POV Street photography vid while I reply to comments.
I looove that lenses, but I use the 16mm in m200, and i have a lot of noise in my videos with Iso 100 and 1.4 aperture. Why it is happen?
Sagiee i have a quick questions about efm mount? what about using a tokina 11-16 with viltrox speedbooster on a m6 mark ii or canon m50 ? Does it vignette or not work ?
Hi there. It will not work with the speedbooster because it's an aps-c lens. It should work with the regular adapter though. I hope this helps
Thanks for including the noise test (or lack of noise) from the lens in the review!
I'm glad the video was helpful - thank you for being part of the channel!
wow, I am definitely getting the 30mm for my kit. Finally! And so cheap. This is insane. Thank you so much Sigma!!!
It's such a good lens at such a good price. Hope the video was helpful.
30mm pricing is excellent! When it was first released, it was $330ish, but I am glad that it came down to the $280 price point like the other mounts!
The motor sound test was so interesting! I’m not even a camera enthusiast but your videos helped us pick out the Canon EOS M50 and we look forward to upping video quality with a Sigma 16mm lens soon, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for the feedback you two. That 16mm is an excellent choice. Let me know how it works out.
Oh yeah, Thanks man, i've been waiting for this review on your channel because you explain it well.
You are very welcome, hoep you liked it!
Hey Meeks Reviews! Nice seeing you here 😊👍🏻 Looking forward to your next RUclips upload! 😊
Hey Roger! I see youre also watching Tech Gear Talk 💪😀 this is where I get some tips on video making and also from you man. I upload every Tuesday but for my camera review I will start uploading it once the lockdown is over heheh but for now I will do some tech tips stuff.
Awesome to see this community grow!
@@TechGearTalk see? Told ya!! 😜😂😂😂. You come across as trustworthy. 👍👍👍. Great job.
Oh my god man, its just impossible to find some review better than yours, like the minor issues for especific function or necessities that you include in your style of video is amazing! Impressive! Cheers from brazil
Oh wow... thank you so much for the kind words. I'm so happy that the videos are being useful. Thank you so much for being part of the community and supporting the channel 🙏
I love how much fun he had making this
Awesome! That's super good feedback Peter, appreciate it 🙏
Stellar work on this video. Clear, concise, not to technical or dumbed down. Just pure quality content. Liked and subbed. Thanks dude. You really helped me get off the fence about the M50. the lenses was holding me back. Thanks again.
I'm super glad it was helpful! I appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback. Thank you for the kind words and for joining the community 🙏
Amazing video man! I’ve been waiting for a thorough video for all the sigma efm lenses, especially for my canon m50! Great job 👍
So glad it was helpful Koby! Appreciate the kind words. Which lens/es did you like best?
Tech Gear Talk sorry I’m responding to this so late, I don’t usually get a lot of notifications for RUclips. But the lens I loved the most and the one I really want is the Sigma 16mm!
Wow! You product the most complete, easy to understand reviews on photography technology. I know it’s just a matter of time before you hit 1 million subscribers. Keep putting out quality content!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad I could help. Thanks for being part of the channel 🙏 Thanks for being part of the channel!
As always a brilliant video! Lots of information, lots of demo cuts and just generally awesome! I've recently bought an M50 as my entry level camera for vblogs and shot and you have become my best source for anything M50 related! Thank you!
Super glad the video have been helpful 🙏
Which one is bigger, the Sigma 56mm or the Canon 50mm 1.8 + adapter?
I'm pretty sure I'll get the 16mm and the Canon 32, but I'm still thinking if the 52 would be worth it.
Another great video, thanks!
You have a lovely wife. I wish mine would let me take portraits of her. I get snapped at whenever I try lol. Nice job once again. 👍🏾
She's wonderful really. So patient with me 😂🤣
jajajajajajajaja
I know what you mean. I’ve given up on mine!😀
Terry Tk 😄
Don’t worry my wife is the same brother @dragonfist25
Have had an M5 and M6 for a long time but hadn't bought a lens in a long time. Just ordered the 30mm for $275 as I have the 56mm on my A6000 and really like it. Good overview of these
Hey great video . I am still using my canon m50 to shoot my photography tutorials and vlogs and planing to upgrade to sony A7 iii with 16-35mm f2.8 lens but now I have to think again. How’s your experience with these lenses in terms of auto focus and image stabilisation ? Nice channel bro
Great great auto focus😁 No IS 😒
What is the go-to lens that you use with your M50?
@maneesh Saxena - Thank you for the kind words. I have an a7iii and the AF on it is great. As far as stabilization, it depends on what you expectations are. There is no dslr/mirrorless camera that I've ever used that gives me "very" smooth footage. I will always use a gimbal if I want the most stable results. I hope this makes sense.
@Lisa's Life - That's true. All depends on what your priorities are.
@That Brotha Pedat - it depends on what you shooting. Start another thread of comments so it doesn't get mixed up and I'll let you know.
Hands down one of the best product reviews on RUclips, really impressed. Subscribed 👊🏼
Oh wow, thanks so much Russell. Thank you for the feedback and for joining the channel!
overall, I think the 16mm would make this a perfect walk around lens when I am in Europe and in the small villages.
I couldn't agree more Michael. It's such a great street, architecture, landscape, urban exploration lens!
I have the 16mm and the M5. I love it. I'm curious if Canon will develop a "serious" M series Camera for semi-pros like a Fuji XT4. Would love to see a M5/M50 hybrid with IBIS, flip screen and legit 4K.
I'm very curious to see what Canon does next in this space.
I've really enjoyed the Canon 22mm/F2. I think this lens was used for 95% of the pictures I took for my Japan trip. Full disclosure: I am hardly a pro or even semi-pro photographer. I am a little more travel focused and snapping pictures of friends/places/experiences. Anyways... I ran around Japan with an M100 and 22mm prime. For the most part, it did everything I needed. There's certainly limitations. Very low-light... it really struggled. The two place that I encountered this combo struggling was Omoide Yokocho (famous restaurant/bar alley in Tokyo) and the Osaka Aquarium in some of their darker exhibits. The pros of the set-up is that it was perfect to travel with. Small... compact... fits into your jacket pocket. I think the Canon 22mm is a good price-point also. It retails for $250, but I've seen it on sale between $200-$220, and refurbished from Canon for less than $200.
If you need the extra performance from the extra half-stop and wider angle of the Sigma, understandable. If it isn't something you need, maybe the Canon might be the better bang for the dollar route.
@@kevinbui4059 do u have any experience shooting video with the both? If yes how did u find each of them espacillay the stabilization? I think none of them come with the IS.
Does the 16mm and 30 mm require a adapter for canon m50 mark 2? Also which one do u suggest for videography?
Sigma has launch their lens for EFM mount
So dont need any adapter
If use EFS lens yes need an adapter
I am getting into real estate photography on my m50. Would you recommend I use the sigma 16mm or the canon 11-22mm?
16mm no question.
I just picked up the sigma 16mm for my canon m50 mark ii. I'm hoping it's as good as everyone has been saying. Great review!
CONGRATS! Let me know what you think.
Awesome review! But this ring light reflection in the eyes freaks me out :D
Thank you. Unfortunately, with where that light had to be, it was the only thing I could fit. Since then I bought a new light that will work in the future.
I subscribed because I appreciate how you didn't just tell me what lenses I need, you SHOWED me which one(s) I need. Which are the 16 & 56mm's. When I buy, I will use your links.
I'm so glad the video was actually helpful - that is definitely my goal. I try my best to focus on the WHY and SHOWING so that people can get the gear that will work for them. Welcome to the channel and thank you for the support!
I was hoping to see this review. Thank you Sagi.
You are very welcome! Which lens would you pick?
@@TechGearTalk 16mm and 56mm
Same!
Great review..which lens do you recommend if I want I sharper picture with nice bokeh when recording talking head videos...I currently use the 22mm?
16mm is my favorite!!! Considering it’s the only one i have! 🤣🤣🤣 but i’ts a beasttt!!!
Awesome! I really love that lens!!
Looks great! But my goodness that noise in Video mode
There is noise with pretty much any lens with continuous autofocus. It's a matter of degrees
@Jasper Tordilla I’m torn between the 16mm and the 56mm. What made you go with the 16?
That footage is 100% stable enough for my style. This trip looks like the perfect bang for your buck group of lenses for vlogging, videography, and photography for a beginner like me. Media tech is expensive!! But I think it's a good investment and these products are definitely more inexpensive than alternatives. Thank you!!
I’m happy with the kit lens for my videos, but I’d like to have all 3 sigma lenses to step up my quality!
If you had to pick one, which would it be?
Tech Gear Talk I’d like to do some nice looking interviews (talking heads) with better bokeh (does that term apply to video too?). So I imagine the 56mm would render the best results?
Yes, the 56 will give you the most separation (assuming you have enough room). The 30 would also work. You can see in the Captain America photos the difference in terms of the size of the light orbs.
I can't speak for videos, but I didn't really care for the 15-35mm kit lens for stills. I find myself using the Canon 22mm prime a lot and really enjoy that. The 55-200mm kit lens is kind of a sleeper in my opinion. It isn't something I grab often, but surprisingly, I've gotten a lot of great pictures with it.
Great video ! I will definitely buy one of these but not sure yet if the 16mm or 30 ? 🤔 planning to do travel vlogs / videos & reaction content .. not sure which one is better for that type of videos.
Thank you Leya. Do you have the kit lens? Set it to 16 then to 30 and see which you like better. I really like the 16, but the 30 may be better for talking head (it depends on the space)
Don't know why I am watching this. I have a 1300 D 😂
Whatever the reason - I appreciate it 🙏
Can we appreciate how awesome of a job you did balancing ambient light with artificial light in the portrait samples??? that it is only noticeable because of the catchlight!!! Great work :)
Excellent eye! Thank you very much for the kind words - appreciate you being part of the channel 🙏
Thanks for explaining what “fast” means. More light equals ability to shoot at faster shutter speeds. I’m learning. 🙌🏾
You’re very welcome. Glad I could help.
have been looking for a review for the trio, love the calm and explanatory way you speak! you just got yourself a new sub! keep it up!
Super appreciate the feedback and thanks for joining the channel!
Amazing review. I like your work, it’s always clear, concise (yet with just the right detail), and you have a terrific model. I haven’t read any of the others comments on motor noise so this is straight out of my own thoughts, I could not at any time hear any of the motor noise in any of the samples. As you stated, I heard floor noise in the one part, and at one point I heard what I thought was some family noise to include may a child, but otherwise . . I heard nothing in the way of ratcheting or whir while the lens(es) were focusing. I love this kit (all 3) and if only the M50m2 had a headphone jack, I’d see it as the most amazing camera ever built in the M line, much like the 90D in the EF-S crop line. Thanks again for your review and for the wonderful presentation. Assuming I buy the M50m2 I’ll definitely get the Sigma set. Now a question . . Which ZOOM lens to buy for the M50 and which TELEPHOTO lens to buy for the M50?
Hey bro i was hoping to get your advice. I currently have a canon m6 mark ii that i got after watching your review. THANK YOU I LOVE IT!!!! Now I really want to get a 50mm focal length equivalent for the camera but i am torn between getting this Sigma 30mm or getting the vilrtrox speed booster with the nifty fifty EF lens instead . Which one would you suggest i get?
I’ll be sure to use your affiliate link. Thank you for always giving the best advice 🤙🏽
What's up! Great camera you have - congrats!
If it were me, I'd probably get the 30mm because it's smaller, lighter, sharper and less gear to take with you. The only reason I may get the 50, is if I was ALSO going to buy other EF lenses to use with the speedbooster. Does that help? Thank you for supporting the channel. 🙏
I always love your content very informative and helpful in choosing the right lenses and accessories for any type of cameras. Keep it up bro! 🙂
Super glad to hear that my friend 🙏 Appreciate the support and encouragement.
I was thinking to make the switch from M50 to EOS RP but after seeing this, I bought 2 of these lenses instead and I'm happy with the decision you had helped me make.
Thank you for creating such great content. I'm a sales professional looking to level up my zoom game and your content helped me make incredibly informed decisions. I landed on an SL3 (my first DSLR ever) for a variety of reasons. After really digging in with your videos (and some others) I narrowly avoided the mistake of buying the nifty fifty and opted instead for the Sigma 30mm F1.4 Art DC HSM Lens for Canon. I only received my gear yesterday yet in my initial tests, the combination of the sl3+sigma+elgato 4K capture card creates an incredible presence on zoom at a reasonable price point - exactly what I envisioned - Thank you!
How are you stopping down the aperture off camera?
I appreciate you're explicit about what a FoV crop does instead of just saying "The focal length changes".
After watching a dozen videos about these lenses yours helped me make up my mind. Great thorough content. Subscribed.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for being part of the channel!
Great, great review as always. Very detailed. Love how you used the background lighting and the small men's to demonstrate the image auto focus and quality of the lenses👍
So glad it was helpful and I appreciate the kind words. Yeah, those little guys come in handy :) They are good models - never move :D
this is such a professional review. appreciate it so much as im thinking to pick up 16mm/30mm, for some of my vlogs/some portraits photo taking.
nice review and huge support!
Thank you so much for the kind words 🙏 I'm really glad the video was helpful and I appreciate the support!
Hola amigo,
We have a question, we do have this lens 00:36 and we also have the DJI Ronin SC and we cannot balance the gimbal whatsoever, we checked the payload and it's a least 500 grams less than the max the gimbal can support. We were wondering if it's because of how big the lense get with the mount adapter and this does not allow it to balance?
I´m not even remotely interested in the Canon EF-M mount, but if you make a video about it, I watch it, that simple! Great review of this three lenses, keep up the good work!
Thanks so much Kevin 🙏 I really appreciate the support 👊
You are sooooo incredibly good at your explanations I love it. I have truly enjoyed all your videos. I am in my 50's considering a hobby and photography has been one. The M50 is a camera I have had my eye on for a long time. But like anything else especially during the extraordinary times we are all in at this moment, budget is a big deal. The lenses cost a fortune however the sigma is certainly a game-changer. Thank you for all the work you put into your work.. It looks like I'll be making a purchase of the M50 and 2 of the sigma lenses. May you, your family, friends, and subscribers be safe during this time and may we all learn something new. Even though both mic's picked up the motor Rode mic was better at hiding it.
I'm so glad that the videos are helpful with your journey into photography. I very much appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback 🙏
I hope you an your loved ones are safe and healthy. Let me know if I can help with any questions.
Very informative; Prompted me to modify a pending order to include the 16mm Sigma!
You earned a subscriber. Thank You.
Glad it was helpful Will - that is such a good lens! Welcome to the channel!
I wish the 16mm RF one was available but I can't find it anywhere unfortunately. It feels almost like a paper launch at this point.
It's on their website man.
@@itzkevin98 the RF mount version is not.
Wich one is the best for portaits?
Sport photography?
Landscapes?
Astrophotography?
The most versatile?
Thank you so much for answering to all my questions 😅❤❤
Hi. I mention all of this in the video.
16 landscape and astro
56 portrait and sport
30 portrait
Neither is "more versatile" since they are primes - you're getting one focal length.
@@TechGearTalk thank you!
Yeah i just wanted a small recap 😅
🙏
Good to know information to master in choosing lens and photography 👌👌👌
Feel like pro every time when I watch your video's (of course not yet, just started off). Thank you so much 💕
My pleasure 😊
First off I love all of your videos. I have had an M50 for a year now and recently lost my job so I am finally getting time to explore it. I really want to get into portrait and headshot photography so I am wondering if I should get them 30 or 56.. When I went to b&H the other day the guy wasn't very helpful and pretty intimidating... The 56mm seemed very close to subjects when I was playing with it. is the 30mm a good way to start if im feeling this way?
Your videos are great. I will be purchasing one of these lens and I'll make sure I use your link so you can benefit as well. Keep the videos coming!
So glad to hear that they are helpful. Thank you for joining and supporting the channel 🙏🏻
Another great review. Good job on your illustrations and displaying how things work.
Thanks Steven! This was my first lens review (I think) so I'm glad it was useful!
Been looking for new lenses for my canon EOS m6 this was very helpful.
Your reviews are so incredibly helpful!
Great video... I've just brought the M50 Mark II and I'll be using both a speed booster and a standard Canon adapter. I would like 3/4 lenses. 1.a macro 1.a great lens for portrait 3. A good zoom lens. I'm on a tight budget and I'm a total newbie just learning. Can you recommend lenses for me. Thank you.
This content was AWESOME and educational! I'm purchasing the 56mm, thanks!
So glad it was helpful, Dianne. Congrats on the 56mm - it’s a fantastic lens!
Man, your videos are so well done! I’m thankful I found your channel because I just purchased the m50 mark ii. Which of these lenses is best for product photography? And you’ve got a new subscriber here.
Which lens do you think would be good for photography at theme parks? I.E. a carousel, some cool (often nightime) architecture, and pictures of friends (not close up). Your videos are amazing! Thank you!
Always start with the kit lens because of ruclips.net/video/z-x-d-K9Jfw/видео.html once you know what focal length works for you, you can pick something like the sigma 16mm
Thank you so much for such a very informative video! Always learn a lot from your reviews! I wasn’t sure if I should get Canon EF-M 32 f/1.4, but after this review, I am convinced to go with the Sigma 30mm version!
So glad the videos are helpful. Let me know what you think about the 30 when you get it! CONGRATS!
Thank you for this video, better test video for camera and lenses i did not see in last 5 years
Oh wow, thank you so much for the kind words. I'm super glad it was helpful and thank you for joining the channel.
Im new to photography and have purchased the m50, thanks for easy to understand info. I just purchased the sigma 16mm
CONGRATS on the camera and the fantastic lens!!!
I’m just here for the ninja moves during the autofocus test. (Nice work, super helpful review)
Thanks for making me spit water all over my keyboard! 😂🤣
Thank you for the kind words.
These are legit! The AF is so fast and seamless! I’m definitely convinced that I am getting the bundle! Thank you! Great content!
No doubt - Sigma did a good job. Glad the video is helpful - thanks for supporting the channel Orlando!
I got the m50 with the sigma 16mm lens used it on my last video with the cinema profile 🔥🔥🔥 can you do a video on cinestyle and cinema profile for canon
That's awesome! Here is a video where I discuss this: ruclips.net/video/jsmaRS0cyYQ/видео.html
Tech Gear Talk dope video. I heard cinestyle can mess up in the shadows and in lowlight sometimes but I haven’t use it with the sigma lens yet only because of the time I have to put into it coloring it. That’s why I was suggesting doing a video on that vs with cinema profile vs standard. Cinema is like cinestyle but graded out of the camera. Would love to see your tests
What is Cinema picture style?
Thank you for the video, well done! I just received my 16mm one and I love it. It has a fast accurate autofocus, pleasing bokeh, wide enough, good balance with my M6, and very sharp! I have many other kind of cameras and lenses, but this lens is one of my favourites.
I’m so glad you love your lens. That 16mm is such a great one! Thank you for the kind words and for being part of the channel!
Thanks so much for this well presented video. I've had a RUclips channel for a couple of years. Started with just an iPhone then to the Canon M50. I've slowly been trying to up my video production and have known for a while the kit lens was holding me back. I was so excited to find you and your professional channel. Thanks, Just ordered the 30mm through your affiliate link.
Subscribed and looking forward to more great content!
I'm so glad to hear the video was helpful. CONGRATS on the new lens! And thank you for supporting the channel 🙏 Let me know how it works out for you when you get it!
Looking to buy one of these, which would you recommend for a trip to like Disneyland and some portrait photos? You helped me decide on the m50. We already have a 50mm with viltrox adapter.
Pls can you review Sigma 17-50mm lens. is this a good budget upgrade for my canon SL2. Pls I need this very quick. Thank you
I'm so glad I discovered your channel! I think the M50 has great niche of new, aspiring photographers and videographers. Until I came across your videos there was a huge void of RUclipsrs who discuss (1) fundamental camera concepts in a way that's easy to understand and, and (2) information that is specific to the fantastic entry-level Canon M50. There are many RUclipsrs who have videos on the M50, but it's readily apparent that they've only used it 1-2 times. I trust your opinion more because it's easy to see that you use it quite frequently!
Now for my question if I may. My primary purpose is to shoot cinematic travel videos, and then some indoor product reviews. I was initially going to go for the Canon EF-M 22m, Canon EF 50mm plus Viltrox Speedbooster, and Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 with adapter (there's some really good M50 cinematic videos taken by a RUclipsr named Callum Cookson and that's his go-to lens). But after reading the comments it seems like I might be better off just getting the Sigma 18-35mm with adapter because it would give me the same focal lengths as the Canon 22 and 50mm in one package.
What do you think? Can the Sigma 18-35mm be used for both talking head and outdoor cinematic videos? Thanks!
Hi. A few things. First, the 18-35mm is my favorite lens. period. There is no other single lens I would trade it for. Other than the fact that it's heavy, it's amazing. I'd skip the 22 unless you want something super small and light to be able to vlog with (holding the M50 with the adapter and the 18-35 gets heavy). Hope that helps.
@@TechGearTalk That helps, thank you! I didn't consider the weight with the adapter - that could make it hard to balance if I ever get a gimbal. Back at square one haha.
I use it on this gimbal with a smallrig quick release plate and counterweights ruclips.net/video/urugXDg3hnM/видео.html
Ok, what about the kit lens (15-45 mm) combined with the Canon EFS 55-250 IS STM. Though this doesn't go wider than 15×1.6 for Canon M50, will they be comparable to the rest of the focal range discussed here? Thanks
Hi, I'm planning to buy 16mm and one portrait lens. I'm too too confused b/w 30mm & 56mm. I want to know few things from you on 30mm vs 56mm, Except the focal length , are the any major differences in these 2 lens in terms of autofocus speed and sharpness. 16mm is 400$ , 56mm is also 400$ but 30mm is sold at 260$. I want to know if there any specific drawback of 30mm when compared to 56mm.
Thanks for this great video. I’m sticking with my 22mm because I love 35mm equiv look. I’m looking forward to getting the 56mm for portraits
This video is fantastic. Just recently getting into photography and it's difficult to weed through some of the videos. I was looking at these lenses and it's great to see such a thorough review with examples. thanks for putting this together....I was looking at the 16mm, now I'm also looking at the 56MM
So glad it was helpful Ruben. You picked that 2 I would get - both are spectacular, truly. Welcome to the channel!
Quick question out of the three lens which one would you recommend to do family portraits make videos and use every day?
Great review. I have great things about the 16mm. The lack of stabilisation always worried me, but footage looks great in the video. I will wait for the m5/m50 specs to be released before I purchase. Just incase they change the mount to some rf hybrid or release some native glass. Hopefully head news soon?🤔 But some awesome glass for a system that does lack in the lens department. Thanks for the review 👌👌
Thanks so much for the feedback Christian. Definitely let me know what you choose to do!
Hi TGT, what do you suggest for making, exclusively, videos for youtube, Canon 22mm f2 or Sigma 30mm f1.4? ☺
Again another top video. So, we're just about to buy an EOS 90D (primarily as a family camera). However, we need to do web presentations (Zoom, Skype Teams etc.) and I was wondering about the best lenses. I will be sitting/standing within 1.5m of the camera, but I also use a whiteboard behind me that is about 2-2.5m. Could you recommend something (I do like the look of those Sigma lenses). Thanks again - keep up the great work.
Hi Andy - congrats. Did you get the kit lens? 18-55? My recommendation is to always start with that so you can figure out your focal lengths: ruclips.net/video/z-x-d-K9Jfw/видео.html (Also, just making sure you know these 3 lenses won't work on the 90D). Let me know about the kit lens.
@@TechGearTalk Will do and thanks once again - really enjoying the content.
Glad I could help! Appreciate you being part of the channel 🙏
you helped me decide pick my first camera, went with the m50 and now I plan on getting one of these sigma lenses thinking of the 30mm for photography
Super glad to hear that David. Hope the video gave you a good overview of the lenses.
Subscribed! This was so helpful! I just bought a canon m50 and can’t decide to get the 30mm or 60mm!
After watching it sounds like the 16mm would be best for my vlogs, short films clips and such. Would you agree?!
Last night I ordered my first camera (Canon 77D). I bought just the body and I'm glad I did. Thanks for this video.
CONGRATS!!!! You got yourself a nice camera. What lens/es did you get?
No lens just yet. Shopping around. I wanna shoot a pilot so I need something to help give it that cinematic look
What are you thinking about?
The mic that I'm now looking at is the RODE GO. I just love that one. As for the lens, they all look wonderful. Dream package. Thank you for the sound test. That is what I wanted to see with the lens noise and focus. Most useful as always. Thank you for the time you put into your job. Cheers and boogie boogie, Ivy.
These really are nice lenses. Check out this RODE comparison: ruclips.net/video/hE84RCziiv8/видео.html
@@TechGearTalk OMG. "I got all the Rode VideoMics so you don't have to" That is an EXCELLENT title and I look forward to watching it later today. Thank you.
Hope it's helpful.
@@TechGearTalk Just watched it during my lunch break. You did a killer good job with the editing. Thank you.
You're too kind 🙏
You made a video about the Canon eos m50 video settings with a kit lens 15-45mm.
Would you change those video settings if you replaced your kit lens with a sigma16mm, and if yes why?. would you consider making a video showing those changes?
Excellent review. Do you think Canon EF-S17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM can take care of all the focal lengths? No need to change lenses. Bit pricey, though.
Would you have a recommend a lense that is a zoom lense. Also can you also tell me what the adapter is called specifically for amazonnpurchasing? And a lense to use for time lapse from the top of a hotel?
Hi there, thank you for this. I just bought the m50 and haven't started using it yet. I am hoping to get a blurry background look in a relatively small office space 10 feet by 10 feet. Do you think that it's worth it to get one of these sigma lenses from the start and do you think I will be able to achieve those effects with any of these three? I'm guessing the 16 mm would probably be the best, but I am a real beginner here. Thank you!
Excellent videos, congratulations! What lens do you advise for gastronomic photography
Thank you for this in depth review. Just purchased the 16mm with your link.
Glad it was helpful Angie! I appreciate the support.
Great educational video and yes huge difference between internal mic and Rode mic
You are awesome. Thanks 🙏
Glad it was helpful! Appreciate the kind words. 🙏
this channel is just underrated. Keep up the good work.
Oh wow, thank you so much. Appreciate the kind words and feedback. If you know anyone who you think would like the content, I appreciate you sharing. Which lens did you like the best?
@@TechGearTalk I'll actually share that for sure. Well all lenses are great between the 16mm and the 56mm I think 16mm is the lens which most of people (including myself) will use more often.
Yeah, I definitely love that one. Thank you for the support 🙏
Hi.. M6 mark ii user here. Which one is best for portrait from sigma the 30mm or 56 mm and which one creates a good bokeh effect? Also can the 16 mm also be used for great for photography? Many thanks
I'm very new and just got an M50 with the kit lens. So far it's been fun learning to shoot manual. My main goals are to get great landscapes (day & night), sports and concert shots. It sounds like the 16mm Sigma Lens would be a good starting point to help with those needs. Is my thinking right or should I consider another lens? Since I'm so new and only shooting for fun, I don't want to spend a lot on a bunch of lenses until I get good at the basics, so finding one versatile lens is the goal here.
Dude you need to make video on what moc should we use on m50.. specially boya shoutgun & the littel rode mic etc..
Would you recommend these lenses for food photography? Thank you so much! ill keep watching your videos!
I definitely would. All three are really sharp, and the wide aperture means you have more options on what kind of look you can achieve. I use the 56mm mostly for this purpose. This lens is good for single dishes and detail shots (too long for a whole table spread)
Excellent review! Clear, comprehensive, great narration and very well paced!
So glad the video was useful. Appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback. Thank you for being part of the channel!
Hey Bud , when I purchased my 16mm 1.4 I was told for the m series there not weather and dust sealed ?
Even for other camera companies it is ? I think that was a mistake from sigma I love the lens but not put off with the other two lens , plus my canon 32mm f1.4 ef-m is far better than the 30 mm just my opinion but will get my self the 56 mm sigma
Plus great channel love your content
All the best

It looks like the Sony 16mm has a weather strip. Sigma said to me that the Canon has it as well, but I couldn't see it. I've never had an issue with it though. (to be fair, I would never shoot in the rain or a ton of dust with this camera because the body is not weather sealed).
