9th grade bio teacher here. You’ve got some great tips. I’m using an iPad Pro with pencil. I love notability, also. I mirror to my classroom Samsung TV nearly every day and would be lost without it. I never considered the demo by video. That’s genius because currently I have been demonstrating or explaining instructions in small groups because I can’t have them “gather around” anymore. It will save a lot of time.
Thank you for sharing! I’m currently a virtual teacher who is debating going with an iPad Pro and this has definitely helped give me some points for the pro column
Since apple has added pencil support for the regular iPads, this setup will also work for them as well. My wife uses the 2015 iPad Pro with the gen 1 pencil but would work the same as the regular iPad in my opinion. I went with the pro because it is my primary device. I use it for grading, video editing with luma fusion, and all my word processing. My only complaint is that microsoft could work a little harder to integrate with iPad. I sometimes find it quirky.
I had been a personal teacher in Brazil for 9 years and this made me really happy. Now I want to teach againg but using new approaches because I'm focused in students who intent great universities but can't understand Math and Physics. (Here all students have the same subjects and make exams to be accept in a University) I'll use all the tools what I can to make this possible but here in Brazil we don't have enough information, no have information about software and hardware like you put in the video. Thanks you so much to explain and share you knowledge!! (sorry if I had some mistake, my English is a work in progress :D)
I prop my iPad using a ringstands to make it a document camera. My school is moving away from interactive boards and giving us TVs. Luckily i have a iPad Pro and an Apple TV bc i have two separate 3’ section of board space. I do may of the things you do as well. The game of pass the iPad does make your heart beat a bit faster sometimes.
Thanks for watching! I may plan to do some more things like this in the future. I also have a video of some of my favorite iPad apps for teaching that you may want to check out also.
How were you writing directly on that slide with the picture of the microscope? Was that power point or google slides? I haven’t been able to figure out a way to write directly on my slides
I was using a PowerPoint slide. There is a feature to annotate on the slide with the apple pencil. I'm not sure if there is a way to do it on other slide show apps. One work around would be to screenshot the slide. It would then open the editor window and you could write on the photo.
Do you think that the 11 inch iPad pro is better for giving a presentation than the 12.8? Of course, just speaking in terms of size. I found 12.8 inches better but I don't know if it's too large and heavy for 2 hrs talks. What do you think?
I don't find mine that heavy even with a case and I use an OtterBox case. I personally prefer the bigger screen size but that is just me. Phones, tablets ... I always prefer the larger screen size.
The apps I primarily use are powerpoint, word, notability, the camera app for projecting demos. I teach anatomy and physiology so I have an app I really like called A&P from visual body. This is the same app I was using to show the model of the cell. I use one drive for cloud storage to sync between my devices. My chapter tests and finals are all objective so I use a scanning app called idoceo grade scanner to grade. Thinking about doing a video in future of the top 5 or so apps I use for teaching.
Depends on the apple tv version. If you have the 4K version (latest version) it also has the ability to connect via Bluetooth. The older apple TV requires a WiFi connection. (Not sure about the HD version that was in between never had one of those.)
if you connect a bluetooth mouse it would show an on screen cursor. that would be one way. I am not aware of a way to reveal where the apple pencil is pointing but you can use it for highlighting and marking up a document besides just writing.
hi! I have been looking for a way to teach my students without blocking my writing on the Elmo since i'ml eft handed. I want to invest in an ipad and apple pencil to do this. Do i need the apple TV? Can I just buy the ipad + pencil but use the smart board at school? We have the promethean board at school.
You can connect the iPad to the Promethean board the same way you connect your computer. You will just need to get the iPad adaptor for either vga or HDMI that the Promethean board uses. The Apple TV just allows me to use it wirelessly without a cord attached to the ipad.
@@teacherdad OH! That makes sense! Thank you! too bad we can't use it wirelessly without the apple TV. Thank you for your quick reply! :) I love your explanation!
I need to find a suitable application to teach foreign languages online or on RUclips like in the following video: ruclips.net/video/y3i88oVk_1o/видео.htmlsi=sbUhxGzQ3IyS2N9L. Do you know which app and which iPad or laptop are used in this video? I see that as soon as the teacher finishes underlining to attract students' focus and attention on the words being taught, the underline disappears. This way the lesson page is not cluttered with too many underlines.

Glad it gave you some ideas!
You used it very well, thanks for providing demo about this way of teaching using tech.
I too use my iPad this way in my class during lectures. It’s so smooth experience

Thank you for sharing your great methods and links to where the tools can be purchased.

Thanks!!! Will be using apple TV for the first time in the classroom. Great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Really useful and good prompt to have a go with notability

models, diagrams, etc…
Brilliant!
Thanks so much Sir.
Thanks for sharing your ideas, we need this these days!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I am planning to do a video in the future about the top 5 apps or so that I use for teaching.
What app did you use for your anatomy and physiology class?
Great video. I had been looking for this kind of video for days. Thanks a lot.

@@teacherdad Thank you for the feedback! I will go for the 12.9 :)
What apps would you suggest/which one are you using to show the cell at the end?
The apps I primarily use are powerpoint, word, notability, the camera app for projecting demos. I teach anatomy and physiology so I have an app I really like called A&P from visual body. Great video - thanks!
Does the apple tv need to be connected to the internet or is the screen mirroring done via bluetooth?
Depends on the apple tv version. If you have the 4K version (latest version) it also has the ability to connect via Bluetooth. The older apple TV requires a WiFi connection. (Not sure about the HD version that was in between never had one of those.)
Hi , can you make a video for how to teach art with ipad and what are other gadgets required ?
do you mean how to draw art using the apple pencil or use this apple tv method to instruct how to do art?
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Which port do you plug the Apple TV into the projector?
The apple tv output is HDMI. So your projector needs to have that port.
What are the 3D apps you were referring to?
It's called anatomy and physiology by "visible body". The price is $34 but it is very extensive.
Which apps are using in your iPad
Best apps for teachers
ruclips.net/video/XPvgVgBHHJM/видео.html
What kind of data show are you using ??
The apps that I use during the demonstration are PowerPoint, notability, A&P (visible body), and the camera app for demonstrations.
Good demo... Which app do you recommend for the 3D anatomy images?
It is called a & p. Does cost like $15-$20 but totally worth it. Very informative and detailed.
Nice
Thanks
pls tell me any ipad app to write with pointer image like "khan academy"

Yes the Apple TV is what allows you to screen mirror from your iPad. Some smart tvs are also airplay 2 compatible.
