Also, GRADING! I teach reading and students do lots of lengthy structured answers, so an iPad allows me to grade it just like I was writing directly on their Google doc or good slides. The Google classroom app lets you put an ink layer over the document, and saves the graded work as a pdf. When you’ve finished grading and marking the pages, It attaches the entire thing as a pdf right to the assignment your grading on GC. It’s just like grading with paper, and love the freedom to use editing marks and it lets me write comments directly on the document rather than depending on students to look over an attached rubric for details. Love it!

I know this is an older video but I just need to tell you how much I appreciate you and Bridget! I am an elementary school teacher who has greatly benefitted from your technology videos.
I'm heartbroken about Jamboard shutting down, as it has been my daily lesson board/slides since 2020. I'm going to search your other videos to try to find an alternative so I can plan over the upcoming summer. Sending you and Bridget so many thanks for the work you both do to help teachers! 🥰

My favorite way to use my iPad Pro is to load PDFs of whatever text we’re reading to GoodNotes so I can put my guided questions, notes, answers, etc into the Marlins. It’s easier to hold my iPad then the novel, textbook or even several sheets of paper. As we read, I have all the things I need right there on the document.

OK, I'm convinced. I've always been old school, paper and pen for most of this stuff, but the organizational aspect of using your iPad for all of this is undeniable. Thank you!!!!!

I got an iPad last Christmas and it's been a game changer! I take attendance, check in my lms, run class dojo, look at my digital planner (it's awesome! Thanks Michelle) and can quickly check my email without sitting at my desktop. 👏🏾 The possibilities are endless!

I love using my iPad in the classroom. The teachers at my school use a program called air server. It allows me to project my iPad on any computer and thus on the board for my students to see.

I also can’t connect my iPad to a projector, so my work around is to start Zoom from my work computer and join on my iPad and screen share my iPad screen. I can also record the lesson through Zoom. It’s worked great!

As a 4th grade teacher trying to walking around the class and show my work at the same time, I am excited to try the Jamboard to project on the screen. I use a doc cam bc I like these new ways to use the iPad. I've been trying to plan my lesson on a planner but it hasn't work, and I think this is my sign to use a digital planner!! Thank you!!

I was really thinking of getting an iPad or tablet - you've made it so much easier to make the decision. I love the idea of walking around the room and annotating on your room while students can see it on the board - this would help manage behaviour problems as well which tend to happen when I'm tied to the front of the room for majority of the day

Thank for another great video. I teach virtually -reading interventions one-on--one. I use my iPad on Zoom share my screen. I put the book we are reading on the iPad. It allows me to enlarge text. I also use split screen with Good Notes so I can write words we are working on and then we can read them in the text.

I never use my iPad bc I hate writing or typing and prefer paper/pencil. We plan as a team, using Planbook so I wouldn’t need a digital planner, but I do like the idea of being able to notate and work through problems on the screen in real time with my students. The digital note taking of student data also seems helpful. I just need to get into a habit of picking my iPad up and actually using it. Great tips!

This is the perfect tech tip video! Thank so for the helpful information Michelle! I’m definitely sharing this with my teacher friends! Running my own tutoring side hustle over the past two years, my iPad has been a game changer! I can digitally plan approaches (knowing where districts are in their instruction), I can model problems inside GoodNotes! I don’t data track because I want students to feel open to discuss any issues they have, but I do take detailed notes to help improve my tutoring!

Btw the difference between the gen 1 pencil and the gen 2 in case anyone doesn’t know. The first gen works with any iPad with a lighting ports. The second gen Apple Pencil works with any ipad with usb-c minus the 10th gen ipad. It connects with magnets. The second gen also costs 30 more dollars then the first gen.

I join myself in a google meet on my laptop and ipad, then just screenshare my ipad screen. This allows me to create/model note making in Goodnotes and then upload the final pdf file onto our class webpage.
You do not need to buy screen mirroring programs/apple devices (which werent as good as I hoped) so long as you have a wifi connection to be on google meets :)

I am so happy I came across with your channel! I am an elementary teacher and I would love to use my I-Pad Pro and I-pencil more to simplify the workload that I have. I was wondering if there is a way to take a picture of the writing responses and then convert it into a pdf so I can then make annotations to grade. I have checked other videos in such matter but it requires an app that is costly. Any ideas? Thanks!

    • @username00009
      @username00009 2 года назад +1

Couldn’t you paste the picture into Good Notes for making annotations? I think I’ve seen that mentioned in several videos, although I just use Adobe to convert pictures to PDFs. I don’t love the price point of Adobe, but they do offer discounts for students and educators (including homeschoolers).

Older ipads don't update, or connect to Google classroom. I have an old district ipad but can't use it because it won't update. I bought a Samsung tablet (which I love) but have trouble saving the digital planner to the Google drive because the file is so big in Xodo. Next year I might try the Google slides version instead so I can access it from anywhere. I like the planner, but have to work out the compatibility issues.
