Hi. I would love to ask you a question, based on your knowledge of these types online tools. I teach a software package, which I'm now creating a online tutorial of. As yet I cannot find a solution to this problem : While the learner is watching me on Zoom or Meet, they need to be going through the software on their own screen at the same time . If they are using a laptop, and even if they minimize the zoom window it's going to not be enough space to have the software program open on the laptop. Is there a app that you can think of that can get around this issue?. Tnx.
Hello, thanks for the interesting question! The best solution for your scenario is a dual monitor / two devices. One is used to follow your instructions, the other is used to perform the task. If this is not an option, you can advise participants to use split screen / side by side view. It's a native feature on Mac OS (support.apple.com/en-us/HT204948), and I'm sure it can be activated on Windows as well without third-party software.. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for sharing these digital tools for the classroom! I am a beginning teacher (currently studying) and think many of these could really enhance and transform the modern classroom. I'll definitely be taking some of these tools into my classrooms when I become a teacher.
I'm looking to combine teaching English with Business Coaching. Which of these would you recommend? Nearpod looks good as well as Edpuzzle. Are these integrated onto Zoom for online tutorials?
Hello Martin Mullan, thanks for your question. EdPuzzle will definitely be appropriate as well as Padlet. Nearpod will be helpful if you have different resources (e.g. articles, videos, images), and you want to consolidate them into one seamless lesson. What do you mean by integrating these into Zoom online tutorials? Also, these are more in-depth tutorials for Padlet and EdPuzzle: Padlet: ruclips.net/p/PLU6wYnG1CMARqPfmsritkJaP02XiWMKBr EdPuzzle: ruclips.net/p/PLU6wYnG1CMASfLsEtFqGaYYskEB7rvH25 Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks so much. One comment is that your teaching style is also worth imitating. You explain clearly, review and will give us links to continue more in depth. My salvation during this time has been Peardeck. I teach high school Spanish. Any more suggestions for high school teachers? Thanks again
Hello Sr Maria Francine Stacy, thanks for taking your time to leave a comment. May I ask you how you integrate Peardeck into your pedagogy? To answer your question, I will need to know more about the needs of your students and learning targets of your lessons. There is an oversupply of digital educational resources at the moment, to the point where their availability becomes a predicament. The last things I want is to overwhelm you by adding 20+ apps to your already busy schedule. If you can describe in a sentence what areas (curriculum, literacy, instruction, assessment, community building, etc.) you would like to enhance with technology and why, I will be able to advise a potential educational tool for your to explore. Thank you.
@@edtechii Thanks for your response. Peardeck is very similar to what I find Nearpod to be (I went and reviewed it after your video). But I find it incredibly simple. I prepare Google slides for my class lesson and can include any kind of links on them. Then I put on the Peardeck add-on which allows the students to reply to a question I have on the slide. Many times this is so that they can practice the concept I just explained. After all the replies on it, I make it visible to the class and discuss the (anonymous) replies. Later, I go into the report and see the individual student responses. The replies may be through text or image (they love to draw even in high school!). This helped me present my classes on google meet everyday but continue teaching through peardeck which also allowed me to see how the students were responding. After watching your video, I went into a language teachers forum and saw what they are using but. much of it was for elementary ed as well. I need a really good way for students to chat so they can continue to converse with a partner as if they were in the language classroom without actually being together. Hope this makes sense. I am already appreciative of what you have shown me. Thanks again.
Thanks for your extended answer. I will look into Peardeck at one point. I normally recommend Padlet to teachers who want their students to participate in online discussion boards. If you are not familiar with Padlet, I have two tutorials on my cannel to get you and your students started. Zoom break-out rooms can enable your students to verbally carry on dialogues online. I hope this information will help you make an informed decision.
Thanks so much! That zoom break out room sounds perfect. Yes, I do use Padlet and it is very good for written communication exchange. You've been a great help. I appreciate it.
In these days of coronavirus forced-lockdown where we teachers have been in the online teaching mode, these tools come in handy. Thanks for your video.
Wow... congratulations for sharing this video to the teacher community. It helps teachers to become more innovative and technology literate as well as updated. This makes learning more 21st century... the screen age as they say.. thumbs up to this video
Thank you . Great! Quick question- what did you use in order to create this video to be able to go from you to the computer? THank you if you can help with this
Hello Mo Buti, thanks for your comment and your question. I create video tutorials using two cameras: one is a mirrorless camera (Sony A7RIII) on a tripod, another is capturing my screen (Quick Time Player Screen Capture). As a result, I have two type of footage: one of me talking, one of my screen. I then use video editor (Final Cut Pro X) to compile them together to create a product that you see on RUclips. I hope this answers your question. If not, I am happy to clarify.
@@edtechii thank you so much! this might be too many questions......but why a mirrorless camera (not even sure what that means) - can it be done with a cell phone? You should make a video to show how you do this. I think a lot of people would be interested. Your videos are AWESOME!
You can film yourself with any camera e.g. Smartphone, GoPro, DSLR, mirrorless. As long as you have a footage of yourself, you are good. I use mirrorless camera because I like the quality of the footage it is able to capture. With regard to making a tutorial on it, there are many videos out there on video editing. If you think it will be beneficial, can you specify what exactly are you interested in so I can put aside a block of time and produce a video tutorial. Thanks.
@@edtechii with so many teachers now having to do things differently...ie remotely...... district level personal need to put together tutorials just like you to show what they need to do......additionally I can see it working with teaching students as well. Like remote learning with being able to see the teacher and then also see the screen in order to teach the student but still have that connection
Yes, absolutely! Theses apps work by themselves with any video conferencing software. Have you seen my other videos on making online classes more interactive?

Hi Evgenii, thank you for all the advice and I am definitely going to use some of the apps. I just thought it good to mention that Minecraft for Education can not be accessed by schools/ teachers that do not have Microsoft/Office 365 school accounts. Our school is a Google school and unfortunately I was not able to access this program. I only found out after a couple of hours of struggling to download this program and waiting on emails from our admin to let me know that we do not have a Microsoft URL. Just to save others the time if they were trying to access this and normally have no clue, like me:) But thanks for all the other apps.
Hello Alisja De Bruyn, thanks for taking your time to leave such a comprehensive comment in attempt to help other educators. Yes, you are absolutely right - Minecraft Education Edition (MEE) works only in conjunction with O365 education subscription. And I'm sorry you had to jump through the hoops to find out that you cannot use it. But despair you now, there is now (due to what's happeing) a way to get O365 education subscription for free. I've met an individual who was able to do it, and he was gentle enough to share the steps with me. This is how he described it to me: "I can give you the a vague outline. Most of what I did was to follow a series of prompts laid out by Microsoft. I believe I started here: education.minecraft.net/get-started/ Near the top of the page, there is a section titled "Check To See If You Have An Account For Minecraft: Education EditionCheck To See If You Have An Account For Minecraft: Education Edition" I entered my school email, and it told me that my school was not set up with Microsoft. In some ways, that was helpful, as it meant I could just go forward on my own, without having to consult much with anyone else. There were then prompts that led me through the process of setting things up. The rough recipe was: - Set up a school account with Microsoft, with myself as admin - This includes a {school name}.onmicrosoft.com subdomain within the Microsoft ecosystem - It also includes an administrator account in my name on {school name}.onmicrosoft.com - Microsoft then asked me for my school's website. I gave it our domain. - Microsoft asked me to prove that I had ownership over that domain by making a small change to the records associated with our domain name through our name host - I contacted the person with access to those records, he made the change, and within a few hours, Microsoft had accepted that we were a school, and I was authorized to speak for the school. - Lastly, having been fully authorized, I used the web interface into Microsoft's system to create 3 teacher accounts and 14 students accounts. I gave that info to my co-teachers, and my students, and we were all then able to get into M:EE." Let me know if you need my help with it. Thanks!
That was a wonderful compilation...Since I am a language teacher (Hindi) using google classroom can you suggest some apps which helps in taking assessment online for language other than english.
Hello Saheem, thanks for your question. Off the top of my head, I can name only one app that supports multiple languages - Quizizz. Once you've created an account, there is an option to change the language. Unfortunately, it's quite difficult to find a decent educational application application that supports languages other than English. I faced the same issue when I was preparing a selection of education apps for teachers in Russia. I hope this information helps.

Hello Evgenii. The reason why, I intend to keep the same App, they I previously used in classroom, is to avoid confusing students, because of their age. I wanted the same application to be used by the students, each one at home, to answer the questionnaires or questions that I would previously prepare for them. I have to say that I know the functionality of others: like EDpuzzle, Edmondo, Quizlet, etc. I have some basic knowledge in educational innovation. Thanks.
I mean, use plickers as a playful evaluation of the students. Use the application of an individual signature at home and also without the plickers cards. I guess it isn’t possible with this app. Thank you very much for your time. Greetings.
Hello Andrei, I'm glad you've been able to find a substitute for Plickers. All of the applications you've mentioned are great educational tools. Let me know if I can further assist you.

Hello Victor, thanks for your question. Can you give a bit more details as to what you are trying to accomplish and why?
This is how he described it to me:
"I can give you the a vague outline. Most of what I did was to follow a series of prompts laid out by Microsoft.
I believe I started here: education.minecraft.net/get-started/
Near the top of the page, there is a section titled "Check To See If You Have An Account For Minecraft: Education EditionCheck To See If You Have An Account For Minecraft: Education Edition"
I entered my school email, and it told me that my school was not set up with Microsoft. In some ways, that was helpful, as it meant I could just go forward on my own, without having to consult much with anyone else.
There were then prompts that led me through the process of setting things up. The rough recipe was:
- Set up a school account with Microsoft, with myself as admin
- This includes a {school name}.onmicrosoft.com subdomain within the Microsoft ecosystem
- It also includes an administrator account in my name on {school name}.onmicrosoft.com
- Microsoft then asked me for my school's website. I gave it our domain.
- Microsoft asked me to prove that I had ownership over that domain by making a small change to the records associated with our domain name through our name host
- I contacted the person with access to those records, he made the change, and within a few hours, Microsoft had accepted that we were a school, and I was authorized to speak for the school.
- Lastly, having been fully authorized, I used the web interface into Microsoft's system to create 3 teacher accounts and 14 students accounts. I gave that info to my co-teachers, and my students, and we were all then able to get into M:EE."
Let me know if you need my help with it.
Thanks!

Thanks.
