I came across one such office politician, Bhaskar, He used to get the information using his regional bias and seniority, however while sharing he never helped with correct information at the right time.
Later, I came to know, he even summed up my approximate savings during my onshore deployment and passed a remark that I can sustain at offshore with my savings. Hence, I don't need any extension at onshore.
He is a master politician, as he never took responsibility or charge of any situation.

this is exactly what I am going through. Working in a corporate for the past 1 and half year, things that I did in this little time have never been done before. Still I get to hear the exact things you wrote above from the wider team and seniors. All my recognition gets limited within my reporting manager. He would say personally to me that you have done a great job, but in front of seniors (who responsible for promotion etc) he would never take my name not even mention that I worked on that project. Even if there is a project that I did single handedly he would still not take my name.. Suggestions from the video above are worthless because this people are in the company for past 8-10 years, no body would listen to a new guy.. I just leave all this to KARMA.

Your video is nice, but I firmly disagree with you when you suggest to reach out to HR.
    1. Your suggestion about reaching out to HR: This will almost never work because this way it just back fires on the employee because of the symbiosis of HR and Project Managers. This is a sad truth but 99% true that HR would not help much. It is just unlucky aspect for the employee that this happens a lot in the IT industry and that too in the country.
    2. Then there is a lot of partiality on the ground of regions from which the employee belongs versus from the region the manager belongs.
    3. Then there is a lot of partiality considering the mother tongue of the employee versus mother tongue of the manager.
There are many more but from my understanding these are the major ones.
Let me know your clear articulate thought on thise aspects.
    Thanks for the video.

But my reporting manager always tries to make rumors about my working strategy, honesty, and time management skills. but I always complete my work within a period. He tried to fire me but higher management knows my working output therefore they gave me confirmation but asked my reporting manager. After that, he is playing lots of politics and tried to humiliate in front of my colleagues for a longer period, but the last few days ago, I answered appropriately in front of my office, He went on leave for a few days and started playing politics against me and Now there are some of my office members are also doing same with me and telling me, I have to follow his rules and regulations. According to them, I have to follow their order as well as they want. I have also discussed this with my higher management but they just follow the rule, keep calm and follow him as well as he wants. Please tell me what I should do. Sir, I am waiting for suggestions on who assist me to get out of this bad condition.

I am also facing office politics wherein a person of my team of same level as me always tries to put me down in front of my manager. I have joined a new company and it has been less than an year now. That person is in this company and in the same project for about a decade. No doubt he has more grip and knowledge about the project in and out but is reluctant to share any information personally in case I need any help....indicating that he can't spoon-feed me everytime. Whenever I ask him anything he asks me to email him and he replies his answer keeping my manager in CC to show that he is helping me even for small things. Since I am new to the project I am struggling to grasp things at the same pace as him. In some cases I have also made some mistakes in my understanding and for the same he points out my mistakes in the team call in front of our manager but never approaches or corrects me personally or offline. I do not have any grudge against him because he is perfect in his work and in good eyes of manager. However, I feel myself downsided for not being able to be as efficient as him. This is something demotivating me over time.

@@CareerTalk Hi Anand, there is no process of creating such documentation or KB articles in my project. The main problem is not documentation but his attitude. He tries to become the voice of our manager and cross questions me over my updates in the daily call. Since he is aware of all the activities I am doing he portrays in front of my manager that he is very concerned about the team and work and no one is liable to bluff the manager technically. I feel if he is really so concerned then he can tell me upfront if I am lacking somewhere......but he waits till the next day call and provides his inputs in front of the team and manager. If I reach out to him to ask anything, he just replies 1 or 2 liner answer or asks me to email him so that he can again reply me keeping my manager in loop 😊. Now I have stopped interacting with him much and trying to focus on my work.

He persuaded me only to clear the deliverables. On the other hand he was fixed in the onsite. People going and people coming but he and his close ones are staying out there on a continuous basis. Such an idiotic person. I waited till 6 years and when my turn came someone went and I came to know 4 days before his travel. Surprising fact is that travel request was raised quite long back. I cannot mention his name and also cannot mention if its a past or present scenario, but going to tell something about it. He is an experienced member of our team. He has a lot of project related knowledge. The entire team is kind of dependent on him. Now, he is taking full advantage of this situation. He stopped taking tasks and assigns every tasks to rest of the team even though some of us are of same role. His attitude is quite filthy. He talks in a very arrogant and authoring manner to everyone. Specifically, he tries to keep everyone down by somehow showcasing to the higher management that no body is doing nothing except him. Everyone is dependent on him. This is the reason he decides whose name gonna be showcasing while delivering a task to the client and he picks one or two of his favourite members and showcase their efforts, but doesn't wanna recognize equally everyone in the team. This way, there has been a very bad and toxic working environment that has been created and no one seems to be liking this project. As the appraisal is closing in, he goes on sending escalating mails against his own team members for simple reasons. This leads to a tremendous unwillingness to continue with the project and hampering personal life as well as work life balance. The office stress sometimes kill...I need to know a way to just get out of this project! I know quitting is not a solution but sometimes you need to be better stay jobless rather being in this sort of toxic environment.

If someone quits due to unhealthy environment in a team, is it okay to mention it in the interview with the next organisation? The resource may not know what feedback will be shared in the background check by the old boss. Please share your advice to handle this situation in the best possible way. Thank you.

Mr. Vaishampayan, the bad part of politics is favoritism motivated by regionalism at my workplace. Newly promoted but old tenured director is indirectly forcing his character n style on people. Finally, he was demoted from team manager to team player, however, his urge for politics doesn't stop yet he is indirectly brewing childish politics at office by unnecessarily commanding respect. His name is "A. Boyapati". How to deal with his maniac, whose role is limited to just an admin person in India. Well, ignorance is a good thing but he is still influencing to have more natives from his hometown with the help of his few pawns. Workwise, he is the worst in the domain knowledge, when someone challenges he hides in the rattle hole Or builds a grudge against other intelligent beings. Your advice please sir.

If the person from senior management then with whom do you talk? I made sure to include his seniors in all mails, that my work (may be insignificant or worst) is reached to top management. I used to make weekly reports with remarks and send them irrespective of the protocols. That way middle man didn't had any chance to side me nor make negative comments about me. When questioned by top management I clearly told them I don't have faith in middle man. After a year, middle man was transferred to another department.

Syed, speaking strength will only come by speaking. Don't worry about mistakes or people mocking at you. Keep talking only in English. Watch English movies with subtitles, listen to English radio broadcast, podcast. Use headphones for all these. Read English books, fiction or non, journals, refer to dictionary for meaning , to get more vocabulary.

I am facing an issue with one of my colleague. Being a scrum team, this person always keep whining about the inability of his peer who is unable to do the work and this person has to carry 2 peoples work. Apart from that he keeps arguing during the meeting again and again. Being the manager, I spoke to this trouble creator but it's invain. He does not approach me rather approaches the dev lead and the PO and keeps whining about the other person's inability to work and how he is extending extra hours of work every day and he works every weekend. He always argues & is like pain in the A$$. I am planning to get rid of him from the team as he is a poison in the team.
