no Kelly got kicked off the show because she sued Lifetime Jeff and Abby. If those lawsuits wouldn't have happened then Kelly would have still been on the show. They knew Kelly was a liability and could cost them some serious money so they dropped her contract

My mom, who was a social worker before my sister was born, has agreed wholeheartedly that what Abby did on the show, even if it was edited, was child abuse, and if there were social workers on set like Abby once claimed, they need to be fired immediately.

Amazing Miyah you lack basic reading comprehension skills because she clearly stated that the show is edited. Even so, what is shown has been pointed out by few child psychologists who have commented about the show that Abby does exhibit abusive and toxic behavior towards her students. Even if it was a matter of opinion all you have to do is look at the basic facts. If it was all fake and all for show than, than why is there so much animosity towards her off the show? Former students, parents even other choreographers have stated how belligerent, abusive, and toxic she is, that right there is a red flag. If so many people are saying the same thing about one person than everyone can’t be wrong. There is obviously something wrong with that individual. Out of all the Original ALDC dance members only Nia really talks to her, Maddie, Kenzie, Chloe, Paige, Payton, Brooke, and others who have made smaller appearances on the show want nothing to do with her. That says a lot.
Yeah I am not a professional but I have read comments by other child psychologists that have a real issue with the way Abby conducts herself. I have taken psychology classes myself all I can say is that from what I have observed of the years Abby seems to have a personality disorder, I can’t say exactly which one, but she does have narcissistic traits, she does lie, she gaslights and uses a lot of manipulation. Any mother with common sense would no better than to let this woman teach their child. I don’t care who she is there are a lot of other highly acclaimed dance teachers in this world, she isn’t the only one.
Melissa V yes, Abby is a narcissist and a bully. She always says “ it’s my name on the line” if someone makes a mistake. She was particularly mean to chloe and Brooke and Paige. I used to watch the first season because I enjoyed the dancing, but abby’s attitude and constant put downs of the girls was too disgusting to watch. They were all abused. Abby should not be on tv representing dance teachers.
It's so depressing Chloe doesn't describe Abby as, Abby, she says "My former dance teacher." It was *that* traumatic that she can't even say Abbys name anymore!
It was most likely for legal reasons. Perhaps she isn’t legally allowed to mention abby’s name because of a contract
I don't mean to be rude . . . But when Abby didn't say Chloe's name it was considered mean-spirited and demoralizing, yet when Chloe does it it's considered trauma. This wasn't geared toward you specifically, I just feel kinda bad for Abby cause I feel (especially after watching these dmuncovered videos) that we might have a wrong impression of EVERYONE on the show . . . Dreaming Of time Seeing something on your television and actually experiencing it are two separate things - these people give up all aspects of their lives, fly across the USA, transfer to home schooling, have to be camera ready and entertaining enough to make it and stay on the show, and then on top of it deal with Abby’s mental instability. She kept the minis just sitting on the back burner waiting for a year. You have zero empathy if you can’t imagine how hard it would be.
Regardless of how she treats the children, she makes stars. Many of the moms had internal battles because their kids wanted to be there SO badly. What kid wouldn’t? So your kid is saying “mom please let me stay!” But they’re being treated terribly, they stand up and fight for their kid. It may be in vain, but I can understand
I’m not saying how Abby treats the kids is right at all, im horrified that the mums join the show knowing how Abby is, and allow their kids to go through this mental abuse, as if they expected Abby to be different after seeing the show.

i agree on the Melissa theory heavily!!!!!! i also think a main reason why maybe maddie doesn’t talk to/about abby, is because after she left dance moms/the studio, she realized how much stress it was putting on her and realized that abby’s relationship with her was very much likely abuse.
Not only that but Abby broke up all her friendships and made some of the the fanbase dislike her by favoring her all the time.

We can try to remember we are watching a REALITY SHOW. The Dance Moms cast ENTERTAINS us. We really aren't entitled to know all the details and personal business if cast members prefer to keep their private lives PRIVATE. These days few performers keep their lives private. They prefer to market themselves across all forms of social media. Those who might have wanted to keep some semblance of privacy will live different lives than they would have had if they never became celebrities. I'm often embarrassed to learn personal details of celebrity private lives. Once that bell is rung it can't be un-rung. Some information is embarrassing. Most Dance Moms cast members apparently don't mind sharing their lives with the world. Still, if we haven't seen it on the show, we shouldn't be disappointed if we don't see it here. Moms disclosing embarrassing details about other moms on the show should be edited out. One mom's illegal past actions were brought up by a competing mom in an episode and I'm still embarrassed for her that the information was disclosed as part of the episode. Hopefully this won't happen again. Maybe I'm too sensitive? Some things need to remain private. So far these videos are tasteful & entertaining and they consist of common knowledge.

These videos just show that there’s a really dark side to dance moms I mean there’s been a prison sentence, child abuse, breech of child labour laws, cast members trapped in horrible contracts and manipulative producers constantly causing arguments. I feel like I vaguely have some sort of understanding as to why most of these girls say they’re glad dance moms is over. How can you tell a child to be grateful all the time when all this was going on behind the scenes? I know the producers needed content but I really think they took it too far

Jessalyn left because she signed a Nickelodeon contract for jojo during the show.
I think that each of their daughters got opportunities outside of the show. Sophia I think got professional dancing opportunities that were more prestigious. Asia got her own show and I think she was looking to get out of dance completely after that. Then JoJo got her Nick contract.
Jackie Lucia left because she couldn’t sign the contract for a long term commitment bc sophia was getting other opportunities and sophia’s agent felt the show could be edited to ruin her reputation

Sofia And Jackie Lucia (sorry if I spelt their names wrong) left for 3 reasons.
1: Sofia got better opportunities in LA
2: Jackie had a feeling something bad was gonna happen and she didn’t want any negativity for Sofia of tv.
And lastly 3: Unfortunately, her grandpa had a heart attack in the middle of the night and they rushed out to see him. They then ended up staying their and looking after him. Hope this helped.
What you said makes sense about Melissa because Melissa was kissing Abbys ass until that last season. It was obvious more was going on than what was shown on the tv.
I feel like she got more bold in season six because she knew that
1. It was gonna be their final season on the show
2. They’ve already made a household name for themselves as “the zieglers”.
At that point of the show, they were already celebrities with their own names. They didn’t need dance moms. I really do think melissa assisted abby with smuggling the money, but abby had to have known about it. I think Melissa smuggled money for abby in her kids suitcases, but since she didn’t use any of the money/the money wasn’t for her, abby didn’t have anything to use against her. Especially since abby had no way of showing what melissa actually did, all she could do was drop hints. If we never caught the money being shown on that episode in season 5, abby wouldn’t have been caught. So in the scene where melissa says “I have so much dirt on her”... I’m pretty sure it’s in regards to how the money got to america. Someone had to have assisted her and someone must’ve known about it since (in the scene where abby dumps her bag) almost all the money was missing from the scene, but the junk that fell out of her purse was still there.
@@nseatea5087 i agree with you but i also think that Melissa was involved with the fraud that happened back in PA in the beginning of the show. Melissa has handled all the money at the front desk and was said to have lied pretty often about paying peoples tuition but never actually doing it. I think she got so bold because she got an immunity deal to testify against Abby which no one thought would happen. I think Abby and Melissa were so close because they assumed that if one went down the other would too. But Melissa got that deal and no longer had to be buddy buddy with Abby. So Melissa married a millionaire, got away with fraud, made a name for her family, made money off of her kids, and left the show because Abby's trial was heating up and she didn't want people to know she got a deal. I think Melissa felt like she was on top of the world because she held that power

I never believed Melissa truly cared about Abby. It seemed forced to me. I think she went along to get the opportunities for her kids. And it sure did pay off. Unfortunately, at the expense of the others.
Abby is abusive, disrespectful to the kids and their mothers. Scream at them, insult and humiliate them until they cry and have panic attacks. Even in the promo of the new season of DM Abby says "I need to get back to screaming at kids". I understand that the first season's contract didn't let any of the kids leave the show, but after watching the show and all the seasons, how can mothers and fathers put them on that show?! I don't care if a kid want to be on Dance Moms, the environment it's not healthy for and adult or a minor. Fame and money are not worth their mental health.
That's completely true. But you've got to understand that if they sign that contract, they're legally bound to it and they have to follow it or else they'll get into legal trouble. That's why it's so hard to get off the show.
I agree with you. The parents have the last words and I don't understand why the parents let their kids in that studio with abby if they knew how is ABBY and the producers. Many people know that the realities are dramatic .

The original contract was for six weeks but Lifetime had the power to change it and they didn't know. The show was supposed to be a documentary not a tv show. Those mothers couldn't leave because their contracts said that if they left they had to pay a 100,000 dollars cash within like a week or two of leaving and then they would get taken to court for breeching the contract as well. They were all in debt from doing dance period and the only one who had that kind of money was Melissa after she married Greg but of course she wouldn't leave because she had her hand in everything

mkatie233 i’m pretty sure kendall had been dancing at the studio for about a year but she wasn’t on the team. and i think christi mentioned in an episode something about that when dance moms started jill moved kendall to the studio to take classes so that could’ve been when she moved kendall’s sisters as well
The moms had to do an interview as well to be on the show. So yeah, they could have found a girl that Abby likes and a mum that the producers liked.

Abby got 10% of what the girls made and at this point maddie was easily making her the most money. Them sneaking out of a contract with her knowing meant she missed out on the money maddie made on so you think you can dance the book of Henry the sia movie and so on. So maybe abby took this quite badly as she saw it as her loosing out on a big stream on income which she probably needed at this time during her legal issues.

With regards to Christi, I thought her issues with Abby went back further before the show when Abby revealed in an 2012 interview with Rosie O'Donell that she was about to expel Christi before she became a cast member on Dance Moms. She also said that because she didn't have the power to expel the Lukasiaks, and since they can't quit because of the Lifetime contract, she was going to purposefully make their experience difficult. The meet and greet evidence was also interesting!
The issues were plain on the show even before 2012 when Abby first started tweeting about it. Abby also always conveniently omits that she had the other girls out on meet & greets all the time and charged way more than Christi did for Chloe's. She was probably mad because in 2012 and 2013, Maddie was busy with Chloe doing press & meet and greets together without Abby, and she didn't get her $$$$.
Abby never like Christi's husband idk why. But she never expelled them because Abby filed for bankruptcy before the show and she needed their money. Remember when Abby threw the chair at Paige and Kelly told Abby good luck paying your bills without me. After the contract was signed Abby knew they couldn't leave so she didn't hold back
when i first watched that episode where abby poured out her bag i found it so weird that she had so much australian money. being australian myself i kinda just brushed it off and thought that she may not have had time to convert it back

LOLOL I’m sorry but the part about Abby dumping out her purse made me laugh - its a really good observation I actually hadn’t noticed the Australian money, however that would be zero evidence for anything. You can have up to $10,000 of foreign cash without reporting it - that looked like a bunch of crumpled dollars from McDonald’s. No “judge” would be combing through DM footage for evidence, if anything an aide would be doing that and they would reach out to production directly to get all film unaltered and unedited - which who knows, maybe Melissa said something like “thats the money we hid” that was edited out. But the entire scenario is very unlikely.
Abby filed for bankruptcy having all that money meant her income had gone up. When you file for bankruptcy you have to literally report every dollar you make and that money wasn't reported so that's why the judge used it as evidence. The Australia thing was just icing on the cake because Abby had been committing fraud for years. And with cases like this either the judge just liked the show or they had to watch DM to see Abby's behavior or something. Because it was on the news that Abby was going to jail before that episode aired 🤷🏾♀️

She was definitely gaslighting them, like when (I can't remember the episode) she told Kendall that her emotions were ruling her after Abby had been screaming at her, then told her to write down all her grievances and show them to her. Abby then proceeded to do nothing about it and basically waved them off, from what we saw.
I had a dance instructor very similar to Abbey growing up and it affected me for years. I believe it contributed greatly to my eating disorder.
I hate to hear that. I was a gymnast not a dancer but my coach was wonderful. I can say she made my gymnastics career memorable. Someone I looked up to
my dance studio does say on the contract that you can be removed from the team if u lose a significant amount of weight, or gain a significant amount of weight. even the teacher reccomended a mcdonalds every 3 months. your situation is probably worse but i think it may be common in the dance industry

We all know why Kelly severed contact with Abby. Abby took out a restraining order on her. Christi is also a no-brainer. They didn't get along, and one day Abby crossed a line.
I hate when people say Abby is a good person out of pity because of her cancer/prison sentence. What she did to Christi/Chloe was horrible-she literally admitted in the Rosie O Donnell interview that she purposely bullied Chloe in order to get Christi and Chloe to leave.

It’s fair to say that if Christi and Kelly were able to break their contract and take care of their kids mental health, every single one of those season one mom could’ve done the same and it’s truly sad that they ended up hearing more about their kids success on the television show and opportunities, then their mental health. I’m talking about Holly and Melissa mostly. Huge kudos in respect to Kelly and Christi for leaving

Maybe they didn't tell her about it until after they had graduated? Or maybe she didn't want them to be blacklisted in the dance community as multiple moms have said Abby threatened to do if any of the kids left her studio? This simplistic thinking is annoying.
Could you please do an upload about the state of ALDC prior to Dance Moms? There is much talk online by previous members of the ALDC Pittsburgh saying Abby stole from the dance fund and that she had gone bankrupt.
Abby filed for bankruptcy before the show started and it was said that she was always behind on bills so the lights got cut off a lot. That's why Kelly told her good luck paying your bills without me
