The producers loved Kendall’s anxiety because they could push the “Kendall is a brat” story line. When in reality the poor kid was constantly filled with anxiety.

@@iluvflavour6022 yeah, my hair was relaxed a couple of times in the 5th and after each time I loss more and more hair. Then when I went natural it was so dry it looked like a birds nets. I had to get box braid and finally in high school I had even hair length around my whole head and it regained it strength.
The thing I never understood with Nia’s hair is that her mom’s hair looked ok, so why couldn’t her mom take care of her child’s hair. I heard that not everyone who heat style or relaxes their hair have heat damage.

To the best of her abilities it was “tamed” but after every dance it just couldn’t maintain its straight nature. When she got older she took better care of her hair! :)
OMG Tye....I thought the same thing......I loved her and her mom, but I always thought....help her hair!!! She went through that awkward stage when she appeared a TINY bit chubbier than the other girls (always beautiful) she was always well spoken and handled herself gracefully just like her mom. she touched upon it when discussing whether maddie was actually a sore loser/brat, how in a lot of her interviews (especially in s1+2) maddie stumbles over her words, like she’s trying to remember what to say. basically the producers telling her to say something about how chloe is her biggest competitor or how she loves to win, stuff like that.

Katie Tetreault i don’t think you know the definition of a good dancer. things in dance can be measured, so her technique was horrible and that’s a fact, don’t even use the excuse “it was abbys fault” she could’ve done better (or gone somewhere else). Her lines weren’t good, her musicality was the only okay thing about her, other than that, she was not good.
Taylor Harvey i think she had great potential. if she was treated better and had more attention, i think that she could have become a great dancer. but you could tell over the years she slowly lost her passion for dance (probably due to decreasing mental health and emotional abuse). but i truly think that she had a ton of potential

Personally, I don’t like how none of the girls OR Abby treated Camryn. She had undeniable talent. She was never corrected or made fun of her technique because they all knew she was GOOD. But the girls never included her in anything, she felt a little left out. Even after they started being friendly with her they didn’t even ask her to join them on the irreplaceable tour. Camryn claim she was around then while this was being planned out but she had no idea this was all going on secretly. Now, that the show is over, well at least I don’t watch anymore. She was there through the practices yet they just removed her. Why? So they said she had other things, and Nia never really spoke on it.

Regarding Abby saying Brooke didn’t want to dance anymore because she started to lose (I mean she often placed top 5 so I would defo not call her a failure) is where a GOOD teacher and mentor would sit down and say “okay you’re older now, category is harder, others are also working hard and starting to catch up, that doesn’t mean you’re not good” and set new goals and more long term goals so the kid doesn’t burn out. I can imagine the only thing Abby would praise her for was a 1st place win, though really what she should be praised for was doing something that they had worked on and transferring it to stage. Like, instead of “you didn’t win, you’re a failure” say “your trick we worked on so hard was fantastic today! Keep it up!” So no, Abby is not a good teacher. How can you expect someone to win 1st but not giving them the tools to do so?
I don't think Brooke really lost passion because she lost. I think it was because her dance teacher started treating her worse or ignoring her and she was dancing with kids way younger than her because of the show and she couldn't really grow much as a dancer doing that all the time.
The sad thing is, I feel that Abby did what @emsova said above with Maddie (from what was shown on the show): challenged her with goals and gave constructive criticism. It does make me wonder if she’d given even 1/4 of the same energy to others like Brooke would they have continued on their dance journey.

If you watch the dance Brooke did with the senior company(full or uncut version) called Why not me? It was a fantastic performance for her. She belonged with an older group because Abbie used her far too long for contortion work and ignored her growth as a dancer otherwise.

Nia was always so poised and classy as a young adult, and absolutely adorable as a little girl. She never received the attention and credit she deserved. I really enjoyed watching her grow as a dancer & always thought she was a great role model for girls everywhere. And I loved Holly-- intelligent, beautiful, such an incredible mom, and just as kind as she was strong.
about kendall and jill meeting abby - kendall barely spoke and kendall looked really awkward and uncomfortable, however jill was cozying up to abby! i am not sure if they were planned to meet or if it was just a case of they were at the same place at the same time - but yeah, my point is that kendall didn't seem to be very happy that she was with abby haha
I feel like if this show kept going and Maddie stayed on, Abby would have ended up treating Maddie the same way she did with Brooke. But even worse because Maddie was working professionally when Brooke just wanted to be a popular girl at school.

Nia was one of the nicest and down to earth girls on that show. she didn't pout when she didn't get a solo/duo/trio and when she did she was nothing but grateful. even when she lost she would say things like 'I'll get it next time' never complained about the favouritism of others. you can tell she's truly a good person. Honestly, it's kinda sad to me how Nia still defends Abby and only says good things about her. She's clearly still trying to please Abby even after all the things she told her and it's clear that Abby doesn't actually care about her. With the other girls, Abby cares enough to shade them, delete posts, make posts and all that, but she doesn't even acknowledge Nia's existence. Abby doesn't deserve Nia and I hope Nia can start opening up a little more about what Abby was actually like and realises Abby isn't worth defending. Wow. The worms comment really hit me. I've always had my hair in a protective style like Nia's. One of my gymnastic teachers who i was close with told me that I looked like Medusa (snakes on head) because of my hair. He's like a older brother/friend to my team so I thought of it as playful. I was so young tho, younger than 10. I grew up insecure in middle school about my hair and i wanted it pin straight to the point that it damaged my scalp. I remember watching Abby call her hair ugly when I was 10/11 years old. Left an impression on me.
Nia doesn't have any superiority complex. She's a well-raised intelligent girl & just because her mother doesn't behave like a trashy reality TV star doesn't mean they are being 'superior'. This mother & daughter duo are a wonderful example of how to behave well & stand your ground even when you are under contract of a reality TV show where producers want to behave horribly. It takes moral strength to exercise the freedom of choice & do the right thing in such an environment. Kelly's dad has nothing to do with anything. Kelly didn't even like being Abby's student back in the days. Why drag her dad's wife into this? I know reality TV is nothing without gossip but it should be limited it to those adults who have consented to being in the show.

she touched upon it when discussing whether maddie was actually a sore loser/brat, how in a lot of her interviews (especially in s1+2) maddie stumbles over her words, like she’s trying to remember what to say. basically the producers telling her to say something about how chloe is her biggest competitor or how she loves to win, stuff like that.

I feel like Nia's comments about thanking Abby and not talking about a lot of the bad parts of being on DM is possibly just a polite statement for social media and interviews and stuff to present a professional image. Honestly we all know Abby was horrible but who wants to hire a dancer/performer who is slandering their former teacher publicly (especially when you unfortunately add racial bias into the mix)? Personally, I don’t like how none of the girls OR Abby treated Camryn. She had undeniable talent. She was never corrected or made fun of her technique because they all knew she was GOOD. But the girls never included her in anything, she felt a little left out. Even after they started being friendly with her they didn’t even ask her to join them on the irreplaceable tour. Camryn claim she was around then while this was being planned out but she had no idea this was all going on secretly. Now, that the show is over, well at least I don’t watch anymore. Regarding Abby saying Brooke didn’t want to dance anymore because she started to lose (I mean she often placed top 5 so I would defo not call her a failure) is where a GOOD teacher and mentor would sit down and say “okay you’re older now, category is harder, others are also working hard and starting to catch up, that doesn’t mean you’re not good” and set new goals and more long term goals so the kid doesn’t burn out. I can imagine the only thing Abby would praise her for was a 1st place win, though really what she should be praised for was doing something that they had worked on and transferring it to stage. Like, instead of “you didn’t win, you’re a failure” say “your trick we worked on so hard was fantastic today! Keep it up!” So no, Abby is not a good teacher. How can you expect someone to win 1st but not giving them the tools to do so?

I don't think Brooke really lost passion because she lost. I think it was because her dance teacher started treating her worse or ignoring her and she was dancing with kids way younger than her because of the show and she couldn't really grow much as a dancer doing that all the time.
The sad thing is, I feel that Abby did what @emsova said above with Maddie (from what was shown on the show): challenged her with goals and gave constructive criticism. It does make me wonder if she’d given even 1/4 of the same energy to others like Brooke would they have continued on their dance journey.

If you watch the dance Brooke did with the senior company(full or uncut version) called Why not me? It was a fantastic performance for her. She belonged with an older group because Abbie used her far too long for contortion work and ignored her growth as a dancer otherwise.

I really enjoyed watching her grow as a dancer & always thought she was a great role model for girls everywhere. And I loved Holly-- intelligent, beautiful, such an incredible mom, and just as kind as she was strong.
about kendall and jill meeting abby - kendall barely spoke and kendall looked really awkward and uncomfortable, however jill was cozying up to abby! i am not sure if they were planned to meet or if it was just a case of they were at the same place at the same time - but yeah, my point is that kendall didn't seem to be very happy that she was with abby haha

Honestly, it's kinda sad to me how Nia still defends Abby and only says good things about her. She's clearly still trying to please Abby even after all the things she told her and it's clear that Abby doesn't actually care about her. With the other girls, Abby cares enough to shade them, delete posts, make posts and all that, but she doesn't even acknowledge Nia's existence. Abby doesn't deserve Nia and I hope Nia can start opening up a little more about what Abby was actually like and realises Abby isn't worth defending. Wow. The worms comment really hit me. I've always had my hair in a protective style like Nia's. One of my gymnastic teachers who i was close with told me that I looked like Medusa (snakes on head) because of my hair. He's like a older brother/friend to my team so I thought of it as playful. I was so young tho, younger than 10. I grew up insecure in middle school about my hair and i wanted it pin straight to the point that it damaged my scalp. I remember watching Abby call her hair ugly when I was 10/11 years old. Left an impression on me.
Nia doesn't have any superiority complex. She's a well-raised intelligent girl & just because her mother doesn't behave like a trashy reality TV star doesn't mean they are being 'superior'. This mother & daughter duo are a wonderful example of how to behave well & stand your ground even when you are under contract of a reality TV show where producers want to behave horribly. It takes moral strength to exercise the freedom of choice & do the right thing in such an environment.
Kelly's dad has nothing to do with anything. Kelly didn't even like being Abby's student back in the days. Why drag her dad's wife into this? I know reality TV is nothing without gossip but it should be limited it to those adults who have consented to being in the show.
