Zapp's is where it's at if you want a really sour salt and vinegar chip. The "Voodoo" flavor is great too, they're like salt and vinegar and bbq had a baby. I swear I don't work for Zapp's.
Tayto actually invented the flavoured crisp. So whichever brand you prefer, you owe a debt to Tayto. That's Tayto from the Republic. Tayto from NI licensed the name. Tayto NI have a castle; Tayto down here have a theme park. (Though the theme park is going its own way now, losing the relationship.)
Interesting. Testers liked the Tayto brands and flavors made in the Republic of Ireland best, and Tayto flavors made in Northern Ireland the least. The way it should be. The best and most flavorful products are made by Tayto in the RoI. A different company is licensed to produce crisps under the Tayto brand in Northern Ireland.
Interestingly the Northern Tayto are thicker cut and the beef and onion isn't available in southern Ireland prawn cocktail is but not very popular. Another thing is some days the packets are very flavourful and you can get a pack the next week and they are bland.
We only found out about the two Tayto company variations after we filmed. Interestingly enough we have a local chip company that depending on the day may be hotter than other days similar to your own.
@@SouthernTriedChannel I'm pretty sure it depends on the potatoes they have at any given time of year . Cooked to an old simple recipe where the potatoes go through simple clean cut and fry
@@SouthernTriedChannel no they are two different companies. But you could buy a packet of tayto one day and buy the identical packet from a different shop a few weeks later and they could be different due to potatoes used .
@SouthernTriedChannel on the clip for the video, the tattoo cheese and onion on the left are from ireland, the prawn cocktail on the right are from Northern Ireland...they are quite similar though
How can anyone not like prawn cocktail flavour is beyond me
It's the flavor that will overpower the world apparently lol
Me too 😳
It's bleenden' lovely!

@@garyfearon2527 so it's the potato that matters not the company? Interesting. We'd still like to try more of their flavors.

I’m from Northern Ireland Armagh we’re they are maid
Yous actually have a mix of northern irish and irish tayto in this taste test, two different brands with the same name
We’re learning…

Only since airing have we learned that there are two different companies. Maybe next time we’ll compare the two!
I'm Irish and make them try a tayto cheese and onion sandwich
Is that just chips on bread?
@@SouthernTriedChannel yes
Do we get some meat, mayo or mustard with that? Or just a dry ass sandwich?
@@SouthernTriedChannel nope.. you just need butter spread and add cheese n onion potatoes crisps together..
@@IrishUnicornxx we will have to TRY it!
Try walkers crisps they are like lays but from Ireland/ the UK
We love trying new crisps. We'll put them on the list!
Walkers are just the brand name of Lays in the UK, aren't they?
Isn't Walkers owned by Pepsi Co? It's an American crisp.
@gerardodwyer5908 yes!
I want a tayto!
We'll get you one. You must eat it raw on camera.
@@SouthernTriedChannel Raw taters and salt......mmmmmmmm.
try flake chocolate bar
The bacon and cabbage ones were great, but they were a limited release. You can't get them any more. I hope they bring them back.
You are not eating a hen properly they need to be inbeetween brad and butter
Although the products share the same name the brands are not connected, one brand is Irish, the other is British
Der grown in Ireland so der Irish
Duh!!!!
Just as I suspected , tayto crisps totally over rated by Irish expats
Northern Irish cheese and onion are better than the irish ones, lol this will confuse people
No way, Southern Tayto CnO are far better but Northern Tayto SnV are better than Southern.
Nordie Tayto v. Free Stayto!
