Proper dirtbike suspension, appropriate power to weight ratio, and a great price point... can't wait! Love my Ultra Bee but I'm ready for some new players in the market.
This concept is an ideal balance of size, weight, power and performance for me and what I like to do. I also love the hand brakes. I had reserved a Varg but it is maybe more bike than I really need or want. I think if you can bring this to market, it will be a nearly ideal combination for many people.
I love seeing an American company get into the emoto scene. It will be difficult to compete with pricing coming out of China but we can expect the quality to be on point.
This is a game changer the way they are trying to cater to every rider is amazing. Like the fact they might have a foot brake if people want it or full hand controls. That says they truly care about the rider and the experience I’m so excited for this bike to come to full production!
I love everything about this. And being a hard core rider for over 40 years in the PNW it is so fun to watch. Great marketing and smart Fer's over there. Let's GO!!! :>)
The level of systems engineer that this project is being approached with is just phenomenal. I can't imagine anything but success for this company if they nail the production and manufacturing like they seem to be doing with the design. With that if you ever want feedback from a test engineer who is in the 250 moto class consumer market, reach out. SoCal has plenty of great MX tracks to make that happen.
Based on this and other videos/details of the build, this is really close to what I'm looking for to trail ride (no track riding). Have owned a couple Surron LBX and I ordered a Stark Varg on day 1 but haven't gone through with the order yet because, if I'm honest, it's not the most appropriate bike for my use case even though I really like and want it. I have fullsize dirtbikes, but my use case for electric dirtbike is a bit different. I'm looking for something slightly smaller than a fullsize bike because it makes slow, tight single track riding more fun and that would be my primary use. I have motorized things for fast, open mountain forest service road riding, though I do also use electric for those trails when on slower paced family rides. I want a Surron Ultra or KTM freeride sized bike but with good 21/18 and great suspension and 50 - 55 miles of range (so I can end our 40 - 45mile rides with 10% - 15% battery rather than totally drained and dead, which is not good for battery and doesn't allow for the unexpected). Guessing even the Dust, with the larger battery option mentioned in other videos, is going to fall short of that last one, unfortunately. Anyway, what is holding me from buying current crop of bikes is not speed/performance/hp. It's lack of a combination of size, great/cushy trail suspension, and range. My Surron LBX suspension beats me up but I don't want to dump $3,000 suspension into that bike as it will still not be what I want. Varg comes the closest, but at the price of it being heavy and very much a full sized bike where an intermediate size would work better on the slow tight stuff. Surron Ultrabee is a good size, but needs aftermarket suspension and battery to be in the running and after $3,000 in suspension and $3,500 in battery, it's more than a Varg. Talaria has promised a Surron Ultra fighter called the Talaria Dragon with 21/18, bigger battery/range (5.2 kWh) but I suspect the suspension will need upgraded. The various Artic Leopard offerings look decent. A Dust being mid-sized, good suspension, brakes and 21/18 from factory is really sounding good. Just need a 5 or 6kW battery option to get the range I need (yes that will push up price and weight, but worth it for me). Having different battery size options available for initial build, as they've mentioned in other videos, is brilliant. Track riders can select the smaller, lighter, lower priced option. Trail riders can select the larger, heavier, pricier, longer-range option right from the factory. No buying aftermarket battery and selling stock battery. Same with wheels, suspension, etc. I dislike having to immediately modify or replace major parts. Much more economical to pay for those right from the factory. I'm following the Dust closely!
Interested to hear more specs on the battery on the controller. With that size battery and peaking 24kw, I can't imagine ride times would be too long. Do you know the continuous kw?
I'll take one now ! Always changed my dirt bikes to lhrb and loved them for enduro riding. Also changed to auto clutch so I am a perfect candidate for electric.
People love the weight, but don’t realise at this power and small battery, it’s gonna be out of juice super fast. Even the Varg with double the battery only does like 40 miles
I wouldn't worry about the battery not being big enough yet as they are building this as a trail bike and this is just an Alpha prototype to test ergonomics ect. They are getting enough feedback in their development to give us what we need at least I sure hope as I put my money down on one of the 1st 150 !

I just did 2 days in Idaho City on my Varg and it was amazing. I rode with buddies on their 450s and 300xc. I took my ktm 250xc to trade off and it never left the trailer. The weight is a big deal and the range is also a concern. The rear brake on the bars is a game changer and I never needed a clutch on even the rockiest rootiest sections. I never went above 42hp and rode most of the time in 22 and 30hp modes and had an absolute blast. I want 180 lbs, 40 miles at 20-40hp, 18 inch gummy on the rear and 29 inch on the front (you read that right because my 29er emtb goes over obstacles way better than any dirt bike), and I want just enough suspension to do some smaller sand woops and larger breaking bumps.
Pardon the late reply - Honda tried to get a 23" front wheel going in the late '70's . Motorcycles have the benefit of a throttle and engine to encourage the front wheel off the ground.
@@JoshStreetDesign Not necessarily. The upgraded battery for the Ultra Bee should be able to give you about that now. Check out Electric Cycle Rider stage 3.
@@jimji2774 bro I have an Alta MXR with a battery that's almost the same size as the Stark battery, and I kill that thing in like 10 miles in colder weather with how hard I ride in the sand.
This looks awsome. I just bought an Artic Leopard ex800 from Charged about a month ago and really love it the battery life is awsome at 75000 ah 74v and puts out 25kw . If they can get close to the range I'm getting i would definitely by one of these.
I was crazy enough to put a deposit on this thing to get one of the first 150. Doing some math if they get 150 people giving them $500/mo which is their program then that is $75K/mo and almost $1.5 million by the end of the 15 mo payoff to produce these things. Its not a car so hopefully that will be enough to bring these babies to market. I also think it is the best looking e moto out there which doesn't hurt sales either. Hope it was a good investment and they don't lag in production too much like the car companies.
Looking good. It's certainly the appealing size to me. Look at Sur-ron.., Light Bee too small, Storm Bee big pig, and the decent Ultra that needs all the mods. Amazing that Surron hasn't responded to market demands, at least put the right size wheels on it. They did have the advantage of being in the market for a bit already. I'll be waiting for the Dragon and Dust hit the market. A local dealer has 5 Ultra's and hasn't sold any since last fall. They will be available cheap and saw one used one so far. Yes, I don't need or want 80 HP, you would think a motor isn't as efficient at low power when it's wound for such a high output? Good suspension, reasonable range and 21/18" wheels. Presently ride a Yamy dual sport and a Rocky Powerplay Emtb, plus a pile of regular bikes.
I'm wondering if one of the issues with the Ultra Bee is that they have to be sold through a motorsports dealer, whereas the Light Bee can be sold at a bike shop (at least here in California). The difference being the moto dealer charges a number of additional fees on top of the MSRP, whereas you can get your Light Bee at (or below) MSRP through a place like Luna Cycle with free shipping and all that. So my guess is that customers coming from a Light Bee experience sticker shock when inquiring at the dealer about purchasing a new Ultra Bee. I can say that this has been the case with me to some degree. I called a local motorcycle dealer about the Ultra and they quoted me a price of well over $8k out the door after taxes and fees. Man, talk about a buzz kill.
Yep agree with all your points. I was hoping Surron would update the Ultra this year with 21/18 but no luck. I was stoked for the Dragon (I currently have a Talaria) but the weight is more than I had hoped. I also expected to have a lot more information on it by now. The Varg is way outta my budget and heavy. The dust looks interesting, but price is everything for me and unfortunately looks to be a next year product (earliest).
Please make a model with a CLUTCH if you want to stand out from the crowd. The hard enduro (and technical singletrack) segment is lacking options (aside from EM.) Without a clutch a lot of people are going to just keep scrolling. Also, with Weight and range at odds with one another, what about some kind of modular battery capability? (If you can add the capability to add a second battery in parallel, you will allow a person to run "a half tank of gas" for shorter rides, and have a lighter bike.)
On their website, they say up to around 40 miles for singletrack riding. I just joined the First100. I'm hoping they give us F100's a discount on spare batteries as well, since I plan to take this thing to the MX track from time to time and want to be able to get more than 1 hour of hard riding in.
@@jasper_of_puppets yeah 3.5kw seems to be lacking to other bikes on the market rigth now. For the price, i would go with the stark or wait for the Flux Primo, rather than this one
This is literally the perfect wife bike. Super minis are too small. 125’s are too tall and require a lot of effort to ride well. My wife wants to ride but she’s not trying to grind through the learning curve. She just wants to go out and have fun. I wish it was ready now.
"Heaps cheaper"? Isn't the targeted price of the Dust around $10k? I mean, sure... 3 grand is nothing to scoff at, but I'm not sure how that qualifies as 'heaps cheaper'.
There is a place for these bikes, riding illegally in Forrest and streets without getting caught, but a massive part of the motocross spectator experience is the noise, trying selling tickets to an all electric event, see who goes broke first. Those Suron races were really successful.
What do you mean by adjustable? If you're talking about quality suspension like the upgraded shocks we sell with adjustable Rebound, Compression, Sag, Spring Rates....yes that is the plan. :)
This seems to be the right track. To me, the key issues are weight and range. Get a 200# bike that easily goes 40+ miles, and I'll whip out my credit card. Won't even look at the price. I'm tall; make the bike easily modded for height. The secret footpeg plate switch on the Freeride is to be emulated; modding without $$. A base model that can be adapted for track or trail, sure, But an "XC-W killer" would, again, make me whip out the credit card, no questions asked. All the discussion about the rear brake? Get over it. I seamlessly switch from my RHRB on my Mt Bike, to my LHRB on my 300 to a footbrake on my Tenere. And I'm an idiot. Besides, the wheelie kings really like that hand brake opposite the throttle. Did anyone complain when they took your high beams off the floor?
I don't think 4Kwh will be enough for a lot of potential buyers (myself included). I've seen Vargs trail ridden @ 40Hp(30Kw) with a 6.5Kwh battery go about 40 miles. I doubt 4Kwh @ 25KW will go much more than 30 miles ridden aggressively. The problem is if you want to ride with 300s, they can go 50+ miles on a tank. Leaving you the alternative of riding at 50% of your potential making your buddies wait 1 minute for every 5 you ride or ...PUSH back to the truck trying to go 40+ miles at their pace. Sadly, unti energy density improves 50%, this is just another nice design that you can't ride with dirtbikes.
Varg is a totally different experience tho. I personally don't want a bike as big, heavy, and powerful as the Varg. The $9,300 price tag (First100 perk) is worth it to me, as the size/power/weight of the Dust is a lot more appealing to me. Especially considering you'd end up at well over $10k to get an Ultra Bee to the same level of spec as the Dust.
I don’t want maximum performance… I want awesome suspension with fun power and maximum fun for my size 5’10” 190lbs. My current bike is 2022 Honda CRF250F which has good power but horrible suspension, and is super heavy. My wife is 5’7” and loves the size of the Kawasaki KLX140RF which is perfect size, and weight for her but needs better suspension and EFI… We both would love a Dust that fit each of us perfectly… I would definitely lay down the dollars.
If you're happy with stock, then it's definitely a great buy. But the Dust Moto is the better value if you're looking for more power (2x of the Ultra), superior suspension, and 21/18(or 19)" wheels. Those upgrades alone to an Ultra Bee would increase the cost well over that of a stock Dust.
perfect electric bike! the stark varg and for other upcoming full size bikes the math doesnt add up. they must be unreliable and problematic, especially bad at low speeds. a mid size bike is logical though, a slightly lower top speed. lighter body weight, built properly to fit its rated specs so the dust motor must be a much more reliable bike, and an American made bike! none of that Chinese trash here, we got good production quality and fair worker wages!
Man if this bike is going for $10k someone could really make a killing doing qs138 builds on 125 rollers. Would be about the same class as this bike, maybe lighter and build costs are under $4k, sell for $7.5k make $3.5k.
Why cant riders get a hand brake and a foot brake why are we forced to choose? Polaris has had both running one rear disc for 20+ years. So like you said take the things that work and are on the market and use them, its kinda like if you wanted to build the most custom bike ever you would buy each part individually from the manufacturer that specializes in that one part and has spent all the R&D into making it the best part. Its all ready been made just use it.
Have both a hand and foot break on my surron. The foot break is regen. Works well for me.

We actually cover most of that in the video. This bike is a prototype it's not ready for release and we will have much more specific information available when it gets closer to production.
Get that battery up around 5 kwh or get dismissed by most riders of gas biles. 2.9 is a joke and even 3.9 will keep it in play bike category. Domt dissappont us usa.
It's cool. Put a clutch on it so we can ride enduro with it. I know it's not a simple task but it would fill the hole in these things. Without a clutch its just a high end Surron.
10k.....qs165?...25kw peak yes...but it will overheat. and 2.8kwh is an hour of fun. I know this video is now 8 monts old but a varg is now in the 10K Price category too. i feel sorry for you because a great bike but at this pricepoint nobody will buy who can calculate 1+1
Please make the ergonomics dirt bike correct like Beta did with the X Trainer. KTM even screwed it up with the Freeride. I’m waiting for my Varg and wanted to get an electric dirt bike for my daughter to cross train on (she’s a pro mountain bike racer)… but every bike we tried feels like Sh*t except the Surron Ultra Bee with 21/18 wheels. The rest of them are stink bug nose low, soft forks and a stiff tall rear end feel, and a horrible rider triangle. From what I see here you guys are headed down the right path. That said…that’s what Rawrr says about the Mantis and it is by far the worst of the bikes we rode. Total garbage. If you build a scaled down Varg with correct ergonomics…. I just might be a customer.
We need an enduro specific version. The ultra bee's have potential but they come stock with shit suspension, shit brakes, and the wrong wheels. Add at least $5k to the price if you want a legit moto. Surron must sell so many bikes worlwide despite not being a "real" bike. This bike looks to be about the same size as the Beta Xtrainer which is a good size for most people.

Very tempted to join the first100 program...what kind of range are they expecting on this bike for the back country type riders?
On their website, they say up to around 40 miles for singletrack riding. I just joined the First100. I'm hoping they give us F100's a discount on spare batteries as well, since I plan to take this thing to the MX track from time to time and want to be able to get more than 1 hour of hard riding in.
@@jasper_of_puppets yeah 3.5kw seems to be lacking to other bikes on the market rigth now. For the price, i would go with the stark or wait for the Flux Primo, rather than this one
@@bernardo9202 They just released some more specs today and opened up preorders. Production bike will have a 4.4kWh battery.
Handbrakes are unbelievable, trust in your intuitive interface with faster real-time reactions.
Any room for more crowd funding from a emoto guy with Alta, sur Ron, Kuberg and EE5 experiences.
I need one.
This is literally the perfect wife bike. Super minis are too small.
125’s are too tall and require a lot of effort to ride well.
My wife wants to ride but she’s not trying to grind through the learning curve. She just wants to go out and have fun. I wish it was ready now.
Heaps cheaper and Heaps lighter than the Stark Varg , you have already got my complete attention. Great job guys , please don't have black frames .
Going to be Rad for sure!
Awesome project!!!!!! Please give us a street legal model that can be plated under Canadian law.
i hope they can implement adjustable rear suspention
What do you mean by adjustable? If you're talking about quality suspension like the upgraded shocks we sell with adjustable Rebound, Compression, Sag, Spring Rates....yes that is the plan. :)
No like two suspention positions that charges the Geometry
50 miles range sub 200 pound, 25 hp with electric bike instant torque. That’s what I want for a singletrack weapon.
60hp version
Is plenty I don't see anyone using 80hp much
What is the height of rider in video?
5'8"
Did he just drop the “ Ultra Bee• Bomb” 😂👾
Put into 4 kwh battery and this is the BEST
Rear brake on the foot peg! Would be nice
Have you tried left hand rear brake? As a person who's ridden traditional foot brake and rear hand brake, I think the hand brake is superior.
No small batteries please. At least have the option for big batteries for big range.
Ok, I guess I needed to keep watching more before I posted this comment. 🙂
hah! Thanks for the comment, like you saw later in the video they do plan to launch with a larger battery and have multiple options and price points.
Most Important to me - Real suspension- KYB or WP full size -- pit bike suspension is not good enough
For 10k probably should just get a stark varg
My wife is 5’7” and loves the size of the Kawasaki KLX140RF which is perfect size, and weight for her but needs better suspension and EFI…
We both would love a Dust that fit each of us perfectly… I would definitely lay down the dollars.
Stark Varg is going take some beating
An Ultra Bee is $6449. I am going for that when I sell my Sur ron.
Just just both at the same time stunt bikes do
Brakes need to be mountain bike style, left front, right rear linked to foot brake.
Looks better than the stark
Man if this bike is going for $10k someone could really make a killing doing qs138 builds on 125 rollers. Would be about the same class as this bike, maybe lighter and build costs are under $4k, sell for $7.5k make $3.5k.
Seems like the ultra beat them to the punch
Wow what a monster! Made In USA Baby 🙌🏼🫡
Works well for me.
why are you being cryptic ? how much does it weigh ? what's is the horse power? what's the price point ? what's the range ? this is like a giant tease !! damn it i got worked !!
We actually cover most of that in the video. This bike is a prototype it's not ready for release and we will have much more specific information available when it gets closer to production.
@@ChargedCycleWorks I like it !
Get that battery up around 5 kwh or get dismissed by most riders of gas biles. 2.9 is a joke and even 3.9 will keep it in play bike category. Domt dissappont us usa.
all i care about is range and lightweight like my eride pro SS
Why would i not just get a varg at 60hp lol for 13k if u in 10k lol
For motocross racing you should spend more and buy the Varg, nothing compares to it on the MX track.
It's cool. Put a clutch on it so we can ride enduro with it. I know it's not a simple task but it would fill the hole in these things. Without a clutch its just a high end Surron.
So you copied the Stark Varg. Nice.
Dude.. range range range. That battery is tiny
These bikes r like the banshee with automatic transmission. Much quicker the a 450

Hmmm I dunno, Stark Varg seems like a superior bike.
Stark Varg is a 450 competitor, and an incredible bike at that. This bike is built to play in the back yard and have a high fun factor to it.
@@ChargedCycleWorks What is the price then for this bike?
They’re wayyy too late to the game. Sur Ron and Varg will be miles ahead with better and cheaper bikes in the unlikely event they get this scaled up.
Blah. Just gimme a Surron or a Talaria with a VIN# and a MCO so I can plate it.
I quit watching when they said 25kw
Why?
We need an enduro specific version. The ultra bee's have potential but they come stock with shit suspension, shit brakes, and the wrong wheels. Add at least $5k to the price if you want a legit moto. Surron must sell so many bikes worlwide despite not being a "real" bike. This bike looks to be about the same size as the Beta Xtrainer which is a good size for most people.
How does the ultra have shit brakes…? And curious where is this 5k coming from? Upgraded fork $700, ext rear shock $1400 and 18/21 wheels $900 …
@@surronsd The EXT fork is how much. The EXT shock is how much? You know you want a controller and battery right? What brand brakes are they? There you go.
@@grantbowen5047I literally just listed the prices… 🙄 all together is 3k not 5k, just swapping to Torp tc1000 bumps power from 12.5kw to 17kw…. Still under 5k… battery is the most expensive part in yet not 100% necessary to be an incredible trail bike. Brake rotors are from the front of a crf250… calipers/levers aren’t even bad and have better modulation then the brembos on the ktm free ride-e… who is having issues with Ultrabee brakes..? Easy to assume they are shit when you don’t own one, or even ridden one I guess.
@@surronsd I have ridden all the Surron's, stock and modded. They are fine if you are doing flow trails and light duty riding. The components on the Freeride e are not very good either and that thing is not a good value over all. Honestly, after owning Beta, GasGas, Husky, KTM and Surron, the KTM XCW is the best performance and value out there. You can ride that thing out of the box and not need to do a single thing. I think the Surron guys like to buy parts and tinker more than actually ride.
@@surronsd The EXT fork is $2000 and the shock is $1200. $1000 for the wheels once you get tires and tubliss or whatever you want to run. Shipping and a few guards and you are at $5k easy. Maff
This is just a Arctic leopard ext 800 re skin
Haha no it’s not they posted every step of their build. From the frame up being hand welded, to the electrical components, suspension etc nothing is shared with artic leopard lol
Same motor same power. ext have more battery and weighs like 30lbs less and it is cheaper. Suspension is probably way better on this bike tho along with it looking like a dirt bike and and not some trials bike mutation thing
You just said it was a reskin…. I pointed out that it’s not a reskin at all. Hand tig welded chassis, QS motor, real suspension, legit moto brakes, proper plastics. The only two things that are like the xt800 is it has 2 wheels and power output is the same.
They do use the same QS motor but I get ur point
Just say no
"Assembled in america" with 100% nothing but chinese pieces. Absolutely hilarious the amount of surron and e dirtbike clones that pop up now adays. Just trash copying trash. We wonder why out environments and man kinda itself are so far gone now adays. RIP. ☠️😂☠️
80hp was never meant to be used for riding it’s meant to be a selling point/bragging claim but primarily it’s so you can put the bike at a reasonable hp setting and get longevity out of the battery life.
