You can estimate battery range pretty well at various speeds, by comparing it to gasoline powered bikes of known power output (aka. wattage). Random A2 license (11kW) bike with similarly crap aerodynamics to dirbikes (to allow for a guesstimate) is yamaha MT-125, which tops out at around 115km/h, thus with such aerodynamics, you would need 11kWh to travel 115km at said speed. OR with current 7kWh battery, you get 7kWh/11kWh = 0,63 times the range at said speed, around 73km. Something like Beta RR 50 enduro comes with 5,3kW power, and tops out between 70-80km/h So it would have a range of let say 75km on a 5,3 kWh battery. Well with flux primos battery it would get 7kWh/5,3kWh = 1,32 times thet range at said speed, which is around 100km. So let's sum up the back of the envelope caluclations. At around 115km/h (70mph) you can expect around 73km (45 mile) range. At around 75km/h (47mph) you can expect around 100km (62 mile) range. ...without radical diffeences in aerodynamics (well so long as manufacturer stick to the usual "modelled after the aerodynamics of a parachute design), range is pretty easy to estimate from battery capacity. If you want to do better, you can pick bikes that look more close to the one you are curiious about, and adjust for frontal area. And if you are curious about random speeds you just fit a curve to these known point. As its not exactly new knowledge that drag force acting on object is more or less proportional to (velocity)^3, you can fit a parabola curve to the points and use it to read the range, by dragging your finger on the velocity axis, and checking what range correspond to said point on the curve on the kWh axis.
In regards to the charging, outside north american market - where dirtbikes lives are spent on the back of pickups - existence of charging station matters not, what matters way more if the manufacturer is gonna follow scum like Zero, or will have the decency to use standard fitting, allowing plebians to take advantage of existing charger infrastructure. BUT even if, you got their proprietary charger, the 20 minutes from 20% to 80% implies a 2C charge rate. I HIGHLY doubt that they will enable such charge rates on bikes that are sold to the public at large, as no established manufacturer (that i am aware of) manufactures Li cells, whos lifetime wont be drastically shortened by regular chargeing at 2C. ...ofc. if flux makes their own Li cells, it could be possible. However pushing cells on the market that aint rated above 1,2C charge rate, to well north of 1,4C wil drastically shorten battery cell life, thus battery pack life.
Awesome idea with the digital lever. It kinda combines the rear brake (which I love to have at left hand) with a clutch. Idea: how about you block the motor from rotation, if stationary and the lever is fully pulled. This way, messing up any uphill, you can use your feet freely to save it without rolling back. Like with a Surron, where the rear brake on left lever is really useful
@@MrMrMrMrMrT we’re planning a similar thing, hill lock; the motor doesn’t allow the wheel to spin backwards, precisely for hill climbs. But that’s gonna be on the next prototype, as it requires some hardware changes
@@FluxMotorcyclesWell, I see you guys already think ahead :) But it needs to be a releasable hill lock - just saying. Sometimes you are going to tip over backwards and need to release the back wheel quickly for a moment, to get the front wheel down again
Good job explaining the feel of the power. I'm constantly watching Varg reviews waiting to hear someone actually explain how the power feels compared to a 450, but all I ever get is something stupid like: "Wow, that was amazing!"
you just cant compare a 450 with the 80HP of the Varg. you have never experienced anything close to that power/NM. I can promise you, you will react the same ways like the guys did in their first ride reviews :)
Down low, the torque comes on much stronger and faster, it's easier to get wheel spin, but at the same time it's controlable wheel spin. The feeling of getting power in a linear fashion all the way up to the bikes top speed is extremely smooth and intuitive. It makes the bike much easier to ride and control. It's like the bike feels more balanced overall. When I go back and forth between my Alta and my 22 sxf450, the difference is huge. It's crazy how jerky and rough the ride is on a gas bike, and the need to shift becomes annoyingly apparent very quickly. Now, on the top end is where I tip my hat to the 450. At the higher speeds is where I feel the 450 has more torque and that's mostly due to gearing. For most of my riding style though, that lower stuff is where I tend to be. Basically if I'm looking for a more precise, safe, ride that's connected more to the nature around me I'm taking the Alta. But if I'm looking for something that's just in your face loud, obnoxious to everybody around me in a good way, and challenging, then I'm taking the 450.
It's awesome! Have to give credit where credit is due, Electric Motion has had the PRB lever available on their bikes for years and that works awesome too. Somehow this feels more significant on the bigger full size bike. Worth noting, the EBMX X-9000 controller comes with a thumb throttle regen option but we much prefer the lever on the bars.
I want hand rear brake with another lever for regen - maybe a thumb - I ride with regen Off - took few days to get used to but now like Much better - having regen lever for long down hills would be great

I own a stark varg alpha. This bike looks sick!! But the varg definitely looks better quality. Im curious how much the primo will be? I'll probably start saving now so I can have enough money before it comes out to add to my collection. My 2018 crf450r, 72v surron lbx, and the King stark varg,
About six months ago, I cancelled my Varg order after people started getting them and posting videos. I immediately pre-ordered the Primo at that time. The Varg is an amazing bike, but, given the range numbers we're seeing, it wouldn't complete one lap of a two-lap enduro here in Iowa (the one run out of my parents' farm is 36 miles per lap). The Primo has more going for it for the type of riding I do. The swappable battery is damn near a necessity for enduro/hare scramble race days given current battery density possibilities coupled with charging realities. I would have had the Varg by now, but my 2024 300 XC-W Hardenduro should be enough to hold me over until this comes out. I shouldn't phrase it like that; I'll likely keep the 300, too. The biggest downside, I assume, is going to be the cost of the battery. I'd likely want one or two extra (really depends on how the range ends up), and I can feel just how much that's going to hurt my wallet.

This is straight from the FAQ on their website. The $50 preorder is refundable, so I saw little reason not to do it given my interest.
Honda is probably tooling up production as we speak. Flux will have a much harder time than Stark did hitting production, unless Flux can find it's own Royal Endfield to invest $500 million like Stark did.
The Honda is nowhere near the specs of this thing. Knowing the way Honda’s been doing things for 30 years now, they probably don’t care or have even researched what’s in the market.
80HP is way over powered for the Dirt(as all the Stark riders have said). It only makes sense if they are going to make it an enduro for street use and sell a super motor version.
Looks like a older CRF frame, new CRF plastic, Yamaha front fender and KTM headlight shell. KTM triple clamps maybe? Quite the parts bin special. Cool bike. What does the sensor on the front wheel do? The Eclutch sounds like a great idea. Seems these guys are really good at sorting this Ebike stuff, from the throttle response to the Eclutch. Nice.
These bikes need to have a programable throttle power band. You choose how and when the power band is and the curve in which it happens. Also these bikes need a quick change battery pack. Change Batteries between heats instead of charging.
While I still really dislike the looks of the square battery just sitting there on electric bikes, this bike looks really really good and sounds really promising, with range at least for track use
Nice but I'll bet it is 𝙉𝙊𝙏 affordable to the majority of people when it's finally in production and being sold to the general public much like Ducati's newest entry into the MX scene with the Desmo 450X.
Why not just program the regen braking into the throttle? When you close the throttle it slows you down. Like an electric car, where you can customize the braking force.
Great to see Flux' progress this far. They look to be the best fully sorted Enduro offering in the EV space. The Varg is not much use to us in Australia as we need to be able to road register bikes to ride on public lands. (Forestry, bush etc) You forgot to mention the swappable battery feature too, another option for fast power changes in a race environment.
For sure, the swappable battery option wasn't really discussed during our test and we didn't see that swap happen in person. Again, it's a prototype, but that is something we will for sure show if it remains a feature of Flux's production machine, when the time comes.

Great question... that should be an upcoming video. Currently enjoying the Stark Varg, modified Surron Ultra Bee, and Electric Motion Escape R. The KTM Freeride still gets some love but maybe less now that we have the Varg and Ultra. Flux Primo, Electric Motion Escape XR, and some premium MX conversion bikes we'll be soon showing on the channel soon are most anticipated. A few bikes we're sworn to secrecy on, but I'll throw the Honda CR-E in the ring as well, but there is no indication of that being in production soon. While we're on the topic, might be worth keeping an eye on KTM as well.
These things are amazing!!! I don’t like EV cars but this and the Stark are awesome and it’s a perfect place for the EV tech. Just stay off MTB trails please 😂
power and speed are not king on off-road riding as anyone who does it will tell you, rideability, suspension, comfort, durability and many other things make a good off-road bike, and of course, the big problem with EVs is the battery time, as a kid I could play on trail bikes for 18 hours a day, how many battery swaps you going to need to do to get anywhere near them hours, N/B is the battery swappable or is it a case of draining it and going home 2-3 hours later ?
Nice video! Hopefully they get rid of that shock. Like the display location much better than the Stark. I do like the hand brake of the Stark though. No sure you really need the regen lever/clutch. If you have the hand brakes you can keep your feet on the pegs anyways.
I just put my order in. I’ll add a light kit to the SuperMoto version and make it Street Legal here where I live in the US. Lots of mountain canyons to ride. Can’t wait. A few gearing changes and I’ll be 100+ no problem. Wish I had done so with the Varg early on when I had my chance.
Nice! Seeing the improved on the areas the stark falls short! First Impression is the screen on tank vs handlebar for better protection and safety. And the added clutch! Was is a must! A safety panic power Kill switch
we live in a wild time where a new e bike prototype pops up every month or so. I hope most of them become legitimate brands that back their product rather than one off cash grabs. They all feel super sketchy given where battery technology is right now. I sold my sur ron, not coming back until these bikes advance quite a bit. This one looks fun....they all are lol.
Really interesting bike. It's also interesting how skilled riders (in general, nothing personal) that previously would never consider riding a normal bike with a Rekluse auto clutch and a rear hand brake lever now kind of likes that kind of similar setup on an electric bike.
I just got a stares but I love seeing more electric bikes hitting the market . I think these bikes are going to make gas bikes obsolete very quickly. As more and more people ride them and get hooked .
That is pretty sick! id love to have a digital clutch if not a hydraulic one. id like to keep that 2nd control point for enduro stuff just for safety and better smoothing.
Wow ! An EV motorbicycle manufacturer / start up ( ? ) that worked out that high voltage " good " . One of their team must dabble in RC cars , but I'd sure as hell buy one ... The 80 bhp is probably as detuned as buggery so as not to kill it's would be buyers I'm thinking .
should make Adjustable Turn throttle - 1/4 to 3/8 turn - many times having Quick Turn throttle is not good - like in mud or hard pack - fine throttle adjustments make bike easier to ride fast -
We wouldn't want to lose too much focus as a company, but many builders are converting trailers and vans to have an integrated battery storage + roof solar. So in the week it fills up, on the weekend you use it up :)

I used to have a Vector e-bike (not a real sport enduro bike though) and it had a regen brake which was really handy. I barely used its brakepads.

The motor is liquid cooled! Using 2 radiators same setup as an internal combustion MX bike.

They basically already do. This one will, and Varg V2 will likely have the battery swap. Even the 4-strokes have programable power now.

I rode the stark Varg at 80 hp and you can’t hold onto it. It is insanely fast. I don’t care who you are. You can’t ride it at 80 hp and enjoy it. LoL

These things are amazing!!! I don’t like EV cars but this and the Stark are awesome and it’s a perfect place for the EV tech. Just stay off MTB trails please 😂
power and speed are not king on off-road riding as anyone who does it will tell you, rideability, suspension, comfort, durability and many other things make a good off-road bike, and of course, the big problem with EVs is the battery time, as a kid I could play on trail bikes for 18 hours a day, how many battery swaps you going to need to do to get anywhere near them hours,
N/B is the battery swappable or is it a case of draining it and going home 2-3 hours later ?
Nice video! Hopefully they get rid of that shock. Like the display location much better than the Stark. I do like the hand brake of the Stark though. No sure you really need the regen lever/clutch. If you have the hand brakes you can keep your feet on the pegs anyways.
I just put my order in. I’ll add a light kit to the SuperMoto version and make it Street Legal here where I live in the US. Lots of mountain canyons to ride. Can’t wait. A few gearing changes and I’ll be 100+ no problem. Wish I had done so with the Varg early on when I had my chance.

we live in a wild time where a new e bike prototype pops up every month or so. I hope most of them become legitimate brands that back their product rather than one off cash grabs. They all feel super sketchy given where battery technology is right now. I sold my sur ron, not coming back until these bikes advance quite a bit. This one looks fun....they all are lol.

Really interesting bike. It's also interesting how skilled riders (in general, nothing personal) that previously would never consider riding a normal bike with a Rekluse auto clutch and a rear hand brake lever now kind of likes that kind of similar setup on an electric bike.

I just got a stares but I love seeing more electric bikes hitting the market . I think these bikes are going to make gas bikes obsolete very quickly. As more and more people ride them and get hooked .
That is pretty sick! id love to have a digital clutch if not a hydraulic one. id like to keep that 2nd control point for enduro stuff just for safety and better smoothing.

should make Adjustable Turn throttle - 1/4 to 3/8 turn - many times having Quick Turn throttle is not good - like in mud or hard pack -
fine throttle adjustments make bike easier to ride fast -
the production bike will have throttle mapping via smartphone, so you'll be able to tailor it to your preference

We wouldn't want to lose too much focus as a company, but many builders are converting trailers and vans to have an integrated battery storage + roof solar. So in the week it fills up, on the weekend you use it up :)
