Coming back after a longer hiatus and still having the K&A videos on my mind. Now this is a game changer! Didn´t know your background in dirt bikes, but you should - if I am allowed to say - definitely mix this in. E dirt bikes are becoming more and more popular and it´s fun watching you riding them in such a way.
I echo this sentiment. I am a mountain biker getting back into dirt bikes as well, but I just can’t deal with the sound. The electric dirt bike makes sense as a complimentary sport to mountain biking for skills building. Not a lot of content on people making this bridge. I would love to see more of this developing market!
So awesome to see you testing out the Dust Moto! I signed up for the crowdfunding campaign and will to be one of the 'early adopters' for this e-moto, so I'm always excited to see more footage of riders having a blast on the prototypes!
I haven't watched this channel in a long time and only clicked because of the e-moto. I remember seeing tons of comments asking for April to ride her dirt bike and we finally get to see it.
@@AprilRideMTB That's awesome, I appreciated you letting them talk about their product and the questions you asked. I hope you do more reviews of electric motorcycles in the future.
I am a reservation holder of one of these and looking forward to what they come with next year. In the mean time I am looking at Artic Leopard's version of this which is just out now. Price wise a quality e-moto is up there with the higher end gas bikes so they need to produce. Just would be so nice not to ever mess with gas and oil or air filters again.
Looks like a really great bike. I would speak to the manufactures when I say I would like to see this called something other than an E bike. People are buying these type bikes and putting them on bike trails and giving ebikers that are riding class one etc. a bad reputation. It’s going to hit all of us. Looks quite a lot like this would be a comparable bike to a 125 two-stroke, so I would love to have one. I would also love to tell everybody look how cool my eCycle is. BTW, April, great job on riding it
@@brentcollins9727 of course it is. But when everyone including manufactures call this an E bike. People take them and put them on streets saying they’re just riding an E bike. They put them on bike trails and say it’s just an e bike. This gives those of us that are riding class ebikes a bad reputation. It also means regulations will come down faster on those of us that are riding class ebikes. That is my only beef. Yes I think most people do consider this an electric motorcycle. But when people start talking about them as being ebikes, it muddies the water.
They do advertise them as an electric moto. People tend to just call them e-bikes, because it is technically true. But I one hundred percent agree that there is a problem with people understanding what a class one vs unclassified bike is as well as riding unclassified bikes where they shouldn’t! That’s why I started with the difference right away.
Thank you! There are different models of Surron, but the dust moto compared to the lite Surron Kyle had before is definitely worth a greater cost for what I’m looking for. It just depends on what each person wants 😊
I hope Dust survives. The popularity of SurRon is amazing considering their tiny size. A 35hp adult size bike is an awesome combination. I think the size and weight of this bike makes it approachable and easy to throw into a van for quick play sessions but without having kids toy power.
Looks great, I was thinking Noraly Schoenmaker (Itchy Boots) is your same height and rides a H CRF 350. I don't think she would jump as you enjoy the excitement. Thank you for your video!
I know it's tough not always having a 2nd camera person around for those 3rd person shots - have you tried one of those drones that will follow you around? Great content as usual, April!
Thank you, I do have a drone. I am learning with each video about how I can film by myself now. It’s really not easy and there is a lot to think about, plan and execute!
Awesome vid! *casually doesn’t mention she’s a former pro MX racer* 😂 😂 😂 when you’re in Bellingham, you could really teach me a thing or two about riding tracks! I’d be happy to help you get over some rocks and logs… Oh wait that would be a Moto video not a mountain bike video 😂
Haha didn’t feel a need to mention that. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get my dirt bike up there :/ I use to do off road racing too, so I have gone over many logs and rocks. I am a bit rusty though for sure.
You mentioned the brake hands would be "your biggest challenge today" I wonder if you ever considered swapping the brakes on your mtb and why you haven't done it?
I actually did try it when I first started riding mtb, but I found that my dominant hand is my right hand and I’d prefer that to be my rear brake. But I think a lot of people that come from moto would prefer it the way dust moto is.
Haha that would be nice, but I think there is more to it than just sound. There is just something about a motor and everything it does. I did find though that since the intensity is high still on the dust moto, you just get in the zone and focus mainly on riding and pinning it!
It's funny, as someone who doesn't have a moto background the lack of engine noise is appealing to me - but I get why from the other perspective it would feel like something's missing. I've also heard that track owners and organizers are excited about e-motos because it means tracks and events won't have to worry about noise ordinances as much.
I loved this Video I figured you would eventually do somthing on E moto. This Seams like the perfect size I want to try one.. only thing close is a modded ultra bee or the new Talaria Dragon. But it is dam awesome to see an American brand stepping up..

I had just been talking to some riding friends about various MTB channels we follow, and the topic briefly touched on couple / family channels and what happens after a break-up. Today I see an April video...and right below it a Yuka & BCPov break-up video. The universe is just weird and sadistic sometimes...
I will continue to post so, hopefully you won’t see it as just a coincidence and I hope you can be happy for me to pick myself up and continue holding my head high while Kyle pursues different dreams. April, dont rotate the filming. There are guys like me that has veritgo, and i thought my vertigo got triggered when the video all of a sudden started rotating 😂😂😂😂
Extra batteries are certainly not cheap, but the battery is hot-swappable. So that mostly addresses that issue, so long as you're not doing a 50-mile trail ride. Pop in the spare battery throw the other one on the charger, and head back out onto the track or into the woods.
The rattling is because the plastic is in the prototype phase where I believe it is 3D printed, so it’s really hard and not soft like it will be in production.
Good thoughts! They did just have an enduro guy test it in some of their latest instagram posts. If you’re on there and interested in following the testing and different riders suggestions, I suggest giving them a follow!
It's not going to be exactly the same, but you can still do it to a certain extent because 100% of the torque is immediately available when you twist the throttle. And with the left hand rear brake lever, you can use it to modulate power to the rear wheel.
Came here to say the same thing. And the fact that it's stayed as an e dirt bike in the opening line but listed as ebike in the click bait title and thumbnail is sad
Love the "Controlled Burn - Do Not Report" sign at the end. Perfect for when you take the bike for a burn!
