- If your Toshiba computer that beeps at start-up, use this video to see why. Beeps are usually done in patterns called Beep Codes to tell us what is wrong with the computer. Use the beep code to determine the issue and how to fix it !! Most beep codes I encounter with Toshiba have to do with bad RAM. Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite L50 A. When I turn it on, it instantly shuts off with a single beep similar to when you shut down the laptop. I did realise that it lacked a CMOS battery, which there was a slot for. Would it be the CMOS that caused the problem?
Check your keyboard. I just had this problem with a continuous bleep, so I disconnected the keyboard and connected a USB keyboard just to get the system going. Problem solved until I get a new keyboard.

1 beep - DRAM refresh failure. There is a problem in the system memory or the motherboard.
2 beeps - Memory parity error. The parity circuit is not working properly.
3 beeps - Base 64K RAM failure. There is a problem with the first 64K of system memory.
4 beeps - System timer not operational. There is problem with the timer(s) that control functions on the motherboard.
5 beeps - Processor failure. The system CPU has failed.
6 beeps - Gate A20/keyboard controller failure. The keyboard IC controller has failed, preventing gate A20 from switching the processor to protect mode.
7 beeps - Virtual mode exception error.
8 beeps - Video memory error. The BIOS cannot write to the frame buffer memory on the video card.
9 beeps - ROM checksum error. The BIOS ROM chip on the motherboard is likely faulty.
10 beeps - CMOS checksum error. Something on the motherboard is causing an error when trying to interact with the CMOS.
11 beeps - Bad cache memory. An error in the level 2 cache memory.
1 long beep, 2 short - Failure in the video system.
1 long beep, 3 short - A failure has been detected in memory above 64K.
1 long beep, 8 short - Display test failure.
Continuous beeping - A problem with the memory or video.
Mine idk how much beep like 6 maybe but when I use it it's work so well idk why suddenly my laptop sound beep when starting
Hi all, just to share my experience, after searching the whole web, i finally found a solution for me. My problem was a continuously beeping, i swap ram sticks, replace hard drive, turn off network, disable wifi, etc , etc. And the solution was very simple. Gosh, only need to disconnect the keyboard and mouse from laptop. Voila, that's it, i use a usb key/mou solution. So easy i cannot see it , hope helps somebody.

Was the RAM the issue the first time?
@@PC_Monkey i can see windows booting then the beeping stops when windows boots up. I tried removing the keyboard then putting it back and it seems to be okay now.
Sometimes it makes beep sound and sometimes the window starts what should I do in this condition..

what would i do if its beeping but it proceeds to windows desktop, it takes a lot of time to get to windows desktop because of the long beep in startup, hpe you could reply sir,

mine (its an old one) beeps very loudly evenly about every 1/2 second until it stops when the windows screen starts to come on and then its fine; it seems to do this for a while then stop, but has just started again after some months

Hi .. it's a fast beeping... And there was no spill nor those things you mentioned.... It's very old and it's been out of use for a while... We kind of took the keyboard out and accidentally we kind of broke that little black thing at the end so I don't know what to do . I do have a wireless keyboard so I'll try whatever you say... Oh and thank you for answering so quick
I took one ram out and it was still beeping I took the other out and it has turned on but I have a black screen

Mine's an older Toshiba laptop the second it turns on it's a continuous beeping I don't even get to the login it just keeps saying continuing repair after about five minutes of continuous beeping it stops for about 1 minute then it starts up again doing the same thing.

Hello, my Toshiba is a Satellite L 740, and the beeping sound is continuous at startup there's no pattern! And I see a blinking light along with it under a sphere icon in the front, it keeps beeping until the user password's icon shows up then it works fine... What could it be?

What do I do if I can't scroll down? I tried updating the mouse and keyboard but i still got the same problem is it maybe because of the ram? sometimes when my laptop starts up it beeps.

Heyy I don't know what's wrong with my Toshiba C850 lap. It beeps indefinitely and stops maybe after 30 mins or so(and now it doesn't even stop.) Automatic repair starts and fails too. Can't reach upto the lock screen of the system. I tried switching up RAMs and also did try to clean up the RAM. But the beep sound doesn't stop. Pls help me out!

There are no files on RAM. Your DATA is stored on the HDD.

Are the beeps the only signs of life? Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds? Anything seen on the screen?
Hi, my laptop is almost 5 years old. It starts beeping after you use it for like 10 mins, and then freezes. The beep is continuous so i couldn't i dentify it. I already opened it up and couldn't find the issue, i already replaced the hdd and reseat the ram. I also noticed that the thermal paste is almost dried up. Can anyone give me advice?

I tried the ram test. Yea I can see the screen but I cant use it. But it keeps beeping

my toshiba c640 beepin continuously what is the problem? others says that the keybord might have an issue, so i clean my keyboard with brush until its working normally. but my laptop stil beeping continuously... then i try to clean my ram and harddisk with rubber, but nothng changes

@@PC_Monkey just blank screen after toshiba picture, then if i press shift button several times the beep sound stop, then booting normally. But i suspect the beep sound caused by power issues, because my battery condition is pretty bad, so i'be to plugs the charger if i want to use my laptop

I took my key board off and the beep is gone but when I turn it on it still has a blank screen and I already purchased a ram before I did the keyboard, what do you think is the problem
The computer now turns on with a black screen? If the screen is black, what are the signs that the computer is on? Lights, Fan, Motherboard or Hard Drive sounds?

Getting an odd beep code from my Toshiba satellite L750D. It goes: 1 short 1 long 2 short 3 long short. Can't find what it means online. My guess is it's 2 separate codes
That would usually refer to a Motherboard error :( Try a BIOS reset as seen here; ruclips.net/video/76I2Ec9K7lw/видео.html. If that does not work, try the steps seen here; ruclips.net/video/_MOe71kBPOY/видео.html. If neither work, then you should replace the motherboard.
hey thank u first for your post, but please i need help because i can't find the user manual of beep codes and my beeps are 1 long then stop then continuous beeps "15 maybe" then stop then 7 beeps maybe
There are two different beep code versions that are used by Toshiba. Here they are;

I have a Toshiba Satellite C855D that has expensive irreplaceable software on it. When attempting to start the laptop will do three long beeps followed by two short beeps then repeat. I have tried swapping RAM and a CMOS BiOS reset with no luck. Thoughts on what to try next?
The ram came from a working laptop so I know the RAM is good.

@@MySniperfi In many Toshiba computers, 3 beeps has to do with a Memory issue or error. If the RAM is compatible and there is no issue with the RAM Ports, then it may be something else or a Motherboard issue. Unfortunately, at this point, I would start troubleshooting from the start. 2. Also, you dont remove both RAM sticks. The computer wont be able to start correctly without RAM. You have to put each one by itself in each port and try turning the computer on each try.
@@PC_Monkey yes its a Toshiba. And sorry i didn't mean it that way, let me rephrase that. I did exactly how you did in the video and removed one RAM stick, tried to start computer, beeping persisted. then switched RAMs and same problem. And yes there was something on the screen. I cant remember exactly what it was at the moment but it had a certain screen up, it wasn't just black or anything. Any Ideas?
P.S. sorry it took me so long to reply, i didnt realize you had messaged me back. also i know not remembering what screen it was presenting is kind of a roadblock. i can get the laptop back off of my buddy if need be. thanks for replying and trying to help man
@@dylanwalker6948 If your able to see something during startup, theres a good chance you can still access BIOS. If so, I would first look for any recovery or repair options. If you cant fine any, try the steps seen here; ruclips.net/video/2Hh1wIS9NDo/видео.html

By listening to it :) Does it sound like its beeping in a pattern? 3 beeps, pause, repeat. 2 beeps, pause, repeat. Etc

To perform the RAM test, you need a stick of good RAM. Taking out a bad stick and putting it back in wont tell you anything about the RAM. What is the beep pattern? Are you able to see anything on the screen?
@@PC_Monkey The beeps start with a long pattern followed by a short pattern, It boots up to the windows log in but I can not type my password because the buttons on the keyboard seem stuck and just keep on repeating like the num lock is on but it is not and the keypad does not work
