I have a solid black mini schnauzer who is 15 months now - goes in her crate during day for nap. Loves her little private area. Puts herself to bed at 6pm and usually awake at 6am. Best breed ever, in my opinion 🥒
My Miniature Schnauzer Lucy is nearly 4 years old. She is salt and pepper. Seeing the puppies on here reminded me how she when she was little. She is still a bundle of energy. Very good on the lead and loves being off of it to run and play over the field. She follows me everywhere and is extremely loving. I just love Miniature Schnauzers. Beautiful breed
I had a mini schnauzer a very long time ago. The most loyal and devoted dog I ever had. It's been so long since he passed and I still never got over it. To this day, I refuse to get another dog because it was so painful. However thanks for sharing the video...it brought back memories.

I am so sorry for your loss! Ofcourse it it your decision to not want another dog and I am not trying to be disrespectful, but not chosing joy to avoid pain is not gonna make you happy in the long run! Getting another dog will NEVER replace your dog that is now passed. It sounds silly, but they come in a few colours, choosing a different colour (for example getting one in black if you had a white one or pepper salt) might help, cause then when you look at him/her, it is a different dog and does not remind you all the time of your last dog. You are not replacing him, just giving another furrball a new forever home. I grew up with a Malteser that is now 16,5 and wont hold on very much longer. I am already so scared of losing her and yet.. I am picking up a miniature schnauzer on saturday. My parents tease me, saying I replaced her, but I could never ever. She was my number 1 and my first dog. I love her to death and the miniature schnauzer will never replace her. It will just make the transition easier and I want them to meet each other. So that a little piece of her will be with my schnauzer. Also seeking professional help for losing your dog is not somehting to be ashamed of. It is very normal. It is grieve and it is a loss of someone very close to your heart. Maybe think about it. You have a lot of love to give. There might be schnauzers out there wanting to honor your lasts dogs legacy and wanting your love and devotion. They have so much to give! Sending all my love from Germany.
We brought our 12 week old Chancy home 5 weeks ago and he is an absolute champ. He only cried in his crate 2 nights for about an hour each and now sleeps like baby after a good hour of fetch. In 5 weeks we've trained him how to fetch, sit, lay down, run up stairs, wait for his food and he is just about house trained. A few tinkle accidents inside, but 100% poo trained to go outside. He's a brilliant pup...lots of love, lots of outside exercise and tons cuddles. We love our guy so much. Next week, we work on leash training and socializing after his final vaccinations.
We love our mini Schnauzer, just a grate dog. His name is Frankie and he is 18 and still pushing. Highly recommended dog breed. Very cute, loyal, playfull, smart, trainable and lovable little dog!
Watching this as my 17 1/2 year old baby nears the end of his life. He was 6 weeks when I brought him home and did not bark for 2 weeks. He was the runt and people thought he was broken but soon enough he came out of his shell giving me the time of my life. Love seeing this… reminds me of the beginning in preparation of letting him go soon.

Definitely very easily trained. Think my miniature schnauzer thinks she’s human. She’s such a character and likes sleep in the afternoon bout half 2/3 and will bark to let you know it’s time, then come 8 in evening she’ll bark to let you know it’s time for bed. If anyone’s in my house she’ll bark to let them know it’s time to leave so she can go to bed 😂. They say miniature schnauzers are barkers but she’s definitely not. That’s really only time she barks, she doesn’t bark at postman, visitors at door, other dogs etc. She’s 2 and I’ve only had her bout 3/4 mths. She was neglected by her previous owners but I’ve got her toilet trained, sit, lie down, off (when she gets on sofa) stay etc. I’m struggling to get her to walk beside me on the lead, she literally wants to trail me around. Any advice on that
Do they calm down a lot as they get older. She is full of beans which i love but I just wonder how their temperament changes over times? She picks things up so quickly and is so clever. She opened her own crate the other day with her mouth. I had shut the door by accident and she wanted her teddy so used her teeth and walked backwards to open it :)

I have a 10 week old black and silver male as well, just a tip, dogs can only see yellow and blue, so green and red looks the same to them and she may have a hard time following the red ball on the green grass. Switch her color to yellow or blue and you’ll see a huge difference...

She's adorable! I had a white mini schnauzer passed away April 5th 2023 but I get a new cute one the same color is day! She is the only thing that has cheered us up through this rough time. My dad said " every time I look at the new dog ill think of izzy" its kinda funny because he doesn't understand that she just left her body. Her soul is still with us. I try making him understand. But Connie is adorable her name suites her.
I saw in comments u did have a groom 2 mos. ago. I didn't see a pattern. It does grow fast. I would recommend to part middle of muzzle & keep combining, brushing down & forward. Most groomers want to shave down middle, when starts growing will stick out & into eyes. Keep corners of eyes wiped, so no build up of boogers! & the dark coat usually lightens up, & is referred to as salt & pepper, or may stay dark. (The cat is a beauty, looks like a Rag doll breed!)

I never knew that cucumbers were something you could give your pup. I found a chart that lists what human foods are good to give with minimal risk to high risk(should definitely not give). This especially since schnauzers are prone to gastrointestinal problems. Love watching Connie she reminds me of our 2 schnauzers Louie and Zeke, that have since passed away. Yes, I was surprised too about the cucumbers. Our mini-schnauzer had gastrointestinal problems as well, made it to 12 ½ yrs, at the end it was her kidneys that gave out. Hope to be getting another one soon…they are such a lovable little breed, after you establish who‘s boss😅
We got the crate from a family member who didn’t need it anymore. I think as long as it’s big enough for them to stand and turn around in it’s fine, nothing too big because the apparently feel safer if the crate is small and it discourages then from weeing in there if it’s small x
Connie is so cute! She looks just like some of the pups I have raised in the past; I love watching all the "firsts" that you posted with her. Miniature Schnauzers are just the sweetest, smartest dogs ever (sometimes too smart for their own good! haha). We live on an acreage in the country and mine will come running from the yard when I knock on the front door; that saves me from opening the door at -40º in the middle of winter to call them! I agree with your choice of going with a harness instead of a collar at her young age. Also, my pups do the exact same thing by running to the ball, but not bringing it back! lol!

Hello she did have one accident in her crate at night which was strange for her so we took her to the vets. She was treated for a water infection and never did it again so maybe it’s that. One tip is to let her out last thing before you go to bed for at least 10 mins and watch her to make sure she has been. Other than that, I think it just takes time and I’m sure it’s nothing you are doing wrong. There have been many tears over here. I’ve heard a small crate is the best option because I’d it’s too big they section off a part for their toilet area xx

How are you getting on??? We crated Connie on the first night. Made sure we took water away 3 hours before bed and let her outside for 15 mins right before bed to empty her bladder. After about a week she started sleeping through. If you be strong and persevere with it, which is so hard when they are so small, they will get used to it and you’ll thank yourself. Connie loves her crate now and always has, she takes herself off to bed most night and gets in there during the day sometimes x
@@babblingbythebrook thanks for replying! Yes I had for on my bed but in her bed for 4 nights and 3 nights ago did the crate but she's actually doing really well in there now. She has bad separation anxiety during the day mainly now 😅 but we are using those tips with water/food done hours before bed and seem to be going pretty good 😊👍 I take her out once overnight for the toilet but I'm hoping to stop that in the next couple of weeks as she gets older. I need my sleep 😴 haha.

Hi Annelle. If we hadn't crated her from the first day, I think she definitely would have weed during the night but crating helped with toilet training. I take her water away 1 hour before bedtime and let her out for 10 mins before crating her for the night so she has enough time. It took her a while to learn she needed to go outside to wee during the day but after the first 4 nights of having her, she never woke up and cried at all during the night. I still check her bed for accidents. She weed in her crate once but she had a water infection xx

Thank you is much for this video, it’s very informative! I’m getting my mini-schnauzer soon and had to ask, how did you train her to only use the bathroom outside? Did you keep pee pads inside at first? Do you keep pee pads inside her cage?
it's a good idea when you first get your new puppy to keep them in a small area with pee pee pads, water, blankets, toys etc. When you take the puppy out - take her/him straight to where you want him/her to potty - their potty spot, praise them like crazy when they do it right - ignore when they make a mistake. If you can't watch the puppy when in the house put them in their special area. When you first wake up a puppy - take it straight to it's potty area then you can play with it, but always praise, never scold! 😃
@@TarasSchnauzers For the first month, I have to keep her inside because she won’t get her vaccins until 3 months old (I’m getting her at 2) so should I have her potty area be pee-pads and when she’s old enough, I can use your method and take her outside everytime she needs to pee? & ty for the advice!
@@lilianal410 if you have a backyard that would be perfect. When she is all potty trained, you want her to want to go on the spot you trained her. Maybe get a potty patch until she can go outside. Those are good for when they are always inside. You can get them on Amazon, many different types 😀😉

She picked up some things really easily but potty training took a while and the biting whilst teething was relentless up until she was about 6 months old . Now she is a little bit older I’m finding she picks and chooses when to listen to commands. Hope training is going well for you but if you are struggling in some areas....Snap!! Because I am too 😂 xx
My mini schnauzer looked just like yours when she was a puppy! She also loves cucumbers and chews on my hair :P I'm sure your vet has told you about this but in case they haven't, you need to make sure to feet them a low fat diet, at least when they're adults. I have my dog on a 10% fat kibble and I feed her mostly veggies and lean meat as treats rather than cheese/peanut butter/fatty treats, and she's doing really well.

I dont know what is it about this type of poppies that i love so much .i always want one but they are so expensive. But i have a shi chi n i am in love with him. You are very very pretty n your dogs is so cute.
I wouldn’t say they get on like a house on fire but my cat tolerates her. She is a pup so loves to chase everything but luckily the cat can get away from her if he needs to. He’s taken a few swipes at her and I’ve been told to really watch for that because they can do a lot of damage to a dogs eyes if the catch with their claws x

I know it´s hard not to spoil your pup - but as you may be aware, schnauzers are prone to pancreatitis if given too much fatty foods, cream cheese is fatty even if you use the low fat version and not very nutritious for dogs either so should only be used in very small amounts, small amounts being half a teaspoon (when dealing with a mini schnauzer) and definitely not several tablespoons. I think it´s important to be tough when it comes to not overfeeding so that you get to keep your dog fit and healthy for as long as possible and also keep those vet bills to a minimum. Schnauzers are not very fussy eaters so even though they love all the bad stuff, they also tend to like vegetables a lot, try bits of cabbage, carrots and peppers for low calorie but nutritious treats.
Yeah I know that. I only give her treats like that once every few days and you can only actually fit a tablespoon in a Kong at the most. I looked like I was packing it in on that video. It was the lightest soft cheese but I’ve been told since uploading that cheese is just really bad in general so I’ve stopped that now. I actually don’t mind a bit of constructive advice though, it’s helpful and I want her to be healthy so thanks for your comment. I haven’t tried peppers just carrot and cucumber which she loves. I’ll try peppers next! 😊
@@babblingbythebrook We are all guilty of feeding our dogs "treats" and things they are better off not having eaten. Maybe we mistakingly think that something is good to feed them or get a bit carried away in spoiling our bundles of joy, they love eating so much after all. I just want all dogs to be fit and healthy so they have a good long life and that owners can enjoy the companionship of their dogs for as long as possible.

Adorable. Be careful feeding cheese. Pancreatitis is the weakness of mini schnauzers, they all should have an incredibly low fat diet. Best to you.
Yes, we have had three minis and one died of pancreatitis, even though we were very careful about his food.

Best breed to train in my opinion. Very smart we taught both of our Schnauzers to ring a bell at the door when it’s time for an outside pee or poop.

Definitely very easily trained. Think my miniature schnauzer thinks she’s human. She’s such a character and likes sleep in the afternoon bout half 2/3 and will bark to let you know it’s time, then come 8 in evening she’ll bark to let you know it’s time for bed. If anyone’s in my house she’ll bark to let them know it’s time to leave so she can go to bed 😂. They say miniature schnauzers are barkers but she’s definitely not. That’s really only time she barks, she doesn’t bark at postman, visitors at door, other dogs etc. She’s 2 and I’ve only had her bout 3/4 mths. She was neglected by her previous owners but I’ve got her toilet trained, sit, lie down, off (when she gets on sofa) stay etc. I’m struggling to get her to walk beside me on the lead, she literally wants to trail me around. Any advice on that

Do they calm down a lot as they get older. She is full of beans which i love but I just wonder how their temperament changes over times? She picks things up so quickly and is so clever. She opened her own crate the other day with her mouth. I had shut the door by accident and she wanted her teddy so used her teeth and walked backwards to open it :)

I have a mini schnauzer called belle, when we got her she was fully black and then when she went to get her first hair cut she came back fully grey, she looks like crushed velvet and I LOVE her to bit!!!!!

I have a 10 week old black and silver male as well, just a tip, dogs can only see yellow and blue, so green and red looks the same to them and she may have a hard time following the red ball on the green grass. Switch her color to yellow or blue and you’ll see a huge difference...

She isn’t too bad with barking. She only barks when she can hear another dog barking but can’t see them x
She's adorable! I had a white mini schnauzer passed away April 5th 2023 but I get a new cute one the same color is day! She is the only thing that has cheered us up through this rough time. My dad said " every time I look at the new dog ill think of izzy" its kinda funny because he doesn't understand that she just left her body. Her soul is still with us. I try making him understand. But Connie is adorable her name suites her.

I saw in comments u did have a groom 2 mos. ago. I didn't see a pattern. It does grow fast. I would recommend to part middle of muzzle & keep combining, brushing down & forward. Most groomers want to shave down middle, when starts growing will stick out & into eyes. Keep corners of eyes wiped, so no build up of boogers! & the dark coat usually lightens up, & is referred to as salt & pepper, or may stay dark. (The cat is a beauty, looks like a Rag doll breed!)

I never knew that cucumbers were something you could give your pup. I found a chart that lists what human foods are good to give with minimal risk to high risk(should definitely not give). This especially since schnauzers are prone to gastrointestinal problems. Love watching Connie she reminds me of our 2 schnauzers Louie and Zeke, that have since passed away. Yes, I was surprised too about the cucumbers. Our mini-schnauzer had gastrointestinal problems as well, made it to 12 ½ yrs, at the end it was her kidneys that gave out. Hope to be getting another one soon…they are such a lovable little breed, after you establish who‘s boss😅

We got the crate from a family member who didn’t need it anymore. I think as long as it’s big enough for them to stand and turn around in it’s fine, nothing too big because the apparently feel safer if the crate is small and it discourages then from weeing in there if it’s small x

Connie is so cute! She looks just like some of the pups I have raised in the past; I love watching all the "firsts" that you posted with her.
Miniature Schnauzers are just the sweetest, smartest dogs ever (sometimes too smart for their own good! haha).
We live on an acreage in the country and mine will come running from the yard when I knock on the front door; that saves me from opening the door at -40º in the middle of winter to call them!
I agree with your choice of going with a harness instead of a collar at her young age.
Also, my pups do the exact same thing by running to the ball, but not bringing it back! lol!

Hello she did have one accident in her crate at night which was strange for her so we took her to the vets. She was treated for a water infection and never did it again so maybe it’s that. One tip is to let her out last thing before you go to bed for at least 10 mins and watch her to make sure she has been. Other than that, I think it just takes time and I’m sure it’s nothing you are doing wrong. There have been many tears over here. I’ve heard a small crate is the best option because I’d it’s too big they section off a part for their toilet area xx

How are you getting on??? We crated Connie on the first night. Made sure we took water away 3 hours before bed and let her outside for 15 mins right before bed to empty her bladder. After about a week she started sleeping through. If you be strong and persevere with it, which is so hard when they are so small, they will get used to it and you’ll thank yourself. Connie loves her crate now and always has, she takes herself off to bed most night and gets in there during the day sometimes x
@@babblingbythebrook thanks for replying! Yes I had for on my bed but in her bed for 4 nights and 3 nights ago did the crate but she's actually doing really well in there now. She has bad separation anxiety during the day mainly now 😅 but we are using those tips with water/food done hours before bed and seem to be going pretty good 😊👍 I take her out once overnight for the toilet but I'm hoping to stop that in the next couple of weeks as she gets older. I need my sleep 😴 haha.

Hi you guys. Do these dogs often wake up in night and wee and poo in the house? I know most dogs do it but just curious.
Hi Annelle. If we hadn't crated her from the first day, I think she definitely would have weed during the night but crating helped with toilet training. I take her water away 1 hour before bedtime and let her out for 10 mins before crating her for the night so she has enough time. It took her a while to learn she needed to go outside to wee during the day but after the first 4 nights of having her, she never woke up and cried at all during the night. I still check her bed for accidents. She weed in her crate once but she had a water infection xx

it's a good idea when you first get your new puppy to keep them in a small area with pee pee pads, water, blankets, toys etc. When you take the puppy out - take her/him straight to where you want him/her to potty - their potty spot, praise them like crazy when they do it right - ignore when they make a mistake. If you can't watch the puppy when in the house put them in their special area. When you first wake up a puppy - take it straight to it's potty area then you can play with it, but always praise, never scold! 😃
@@TarasSchnauzers For the first month, I have to keep her inside because she won’t get her vaccins until 3 months old (I’m getting her at 2) so should I have her potty area be pee-pads and when she’s old enough, I can use your method and take her outside everytime she needs to pee? & ty for the advice!
@@lilianal410 if you have a backyard that would be perfect. When she is all potty trained, you want her to want to go on the spot you trained her. Maybe get a potty patch until she can go outside. Those are good for when they are always inside. You can get them on Amazon, many different types 😀😉

Hi Stacy! Thank you so much for watching my video. They really are a handful aren’t they? So loveable but I won’t lie, I found it really hard training Connie. She picked up some things really easily but potty training took a while and the biting whilst teething was relentless up until she was about 6 months old . Now she is a little bit older I’m finding she picks and chooses when to listen to commands. Hope training is going well for you but if you are struggling in some areas....Snap!! Because I am too 😂 xx
My mini schnauzer looked just like yours when she was a puppy! She also loves cucumbers and chews on my hair :P
I'm sure your vet has told you about this but in case they haven't, you need to make sure to feet them a low fat diet, at least when they're adults. I have my dog on a 10% fat kibble and I feed her mostly veggies and lean meat as treats rather than cheese/peanut butter/fatty treats, and she's doing really well.
She’s gorgeous reminds me of my Lucy when she was a pup- she was really naughty as a pup but your girl seems well behaved! Lucy is 12 now. Maybe do go easy on the cream cheese though as schnauzers are prone to pancreatitis but I know she is only young!

I wouldn’t say they get on like a house on fire but my cat tolerates her. She is a pup so loves to chase everything but luckily the cat can get away from her if he needs to. He’s taken a few swipes at her and I’ve been told to really watch for that because they can do a lot of damage to a dogs eyes if the catch with their claws x

I know it´s hard not to spoil your pup - but as you may be aware, schnauzers are prone to pancreatitis if given too much fatty foods, cream cheese is fatty even if you use the low fat version and not very nutritious for dogs either so should only be used in very small amounts, small amounts being half a teaspoon (when dealing with a mini schnauzer) and definitely not several tablespoons. I think it´s important to be tough when it comes to not overfeeding so that you get to keep your dog fit and healthy for as long as possible and also keep those vet bills to a minimum.
Schnauzers are not very fussy eaters so even though they love all the bad stuff, they also tend to like vegetables a lot, try bits of cabbage, carrots and peppers for low calorie but nutritious treats.
Yeah I know that. I only give her treats like that once every few days and you can only actually fit a tablespoon in a Kong at the most. I looked like I was packing it in on that video. It was the lightest soft cheese but I’ve been told since uploading that cheese is just really bad in general so I’ve stopped that now. I actually don’t mind a bit of constructive advice though, it’s helpful and I want her to be healthy so thanks for your comment. I haven’t tried peppers just carrot and cucumber which she loves. I’ll try peppers next! 😊
@@babblingbythebrook We are all guilty of feeding our dogs "treats" and things they are better off not having eaten. Maybe we mistakingly think that something is good to feed them or get a bit carried away in spoiling our bundles of joy, they love eating so much after all. I just want all dogs to be fit and healthy so they have a good long life and that owners can enjoy the companionship of their dogs for as long as possible.
