Yes... well nearly. I could still hear the motor groaning but the fan would often not start spinning up. Too much friction with all the dust and corrosion that built up inside it. If I turned the fan off and on a couple times it would occasionally begin to spin up but it was slow and laboured. Curiously this fan (in a two-piece rest room) would have been exposed to no steam, hairspray, perfume, or other contaminants that other full bathrooms would have subjected it to. It was however a high-traffic area so the fan was activated most often in the house.
It depends on your house. In my old house the kitchen range hood was retro-fitted with what looked like a vent but it went into the cupboard and stopped! This particular bathroom vent goes to the back side of the house and joins the ranks of the laundry room overhead fan, dryer, upstairs bathroom overhead vent, and kitchen range hood vent. That's a lot of 4" holes throug my brick-work!
Whoever does this kind of system is so stupid. I spent like an hour trying to get mine down. And still trying. It only needs 4 screws. One is each corner. No need to make it so complicated.
Thanks for the video! You did forget to replace the screw that goes in by the plug.😁
Thanks for making this!
Did the old bath fan quit working?
Bernie X yes, it was so clogged with dust it would just hum sometimes or turn slowly. I was concerned the motor was partially burnt.

Do these fans actually vent somewhere?

Jesus Christ... just look at how small the fan blades are
