You’re welcome 👍
Love your "how to" videos.
They've been helping me around the house and saving money too. 👍
You’re welcome 👍
I've put this off for ages thinking I'd need a sparky to do it
Thanks Bill, legend
Thank you Bill. Just did mine today. Totally orthumb!!
It's not as powerful as I thought it would be, but it works very well. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGjG43--gYqIoT4Xkur2PqCrtbKwTv2h6 There are three options to circulate air, and best of all a remote control for us lazy people. Installation was a breeze (no pun intended). It actually took longer to open the box then it did putting the side extenders on and sitting it in the window opening. It's a perfect alternative when you want airflow, but not the AC. Just might order another one for a different room. UPDATE: Bought another one like I said. They work great. Why not have two...
Just the video I needed am replacing a broken one with the same model. Thanks so much for making this!!
Mate, thanks so much for this! I was trying to install a new Deta fan and couldn’t figure out why those clips wouldn’t attach to the drywall properly. The instructions in the box neglected to mention I needed to loosen the screws first and then push the clips up before tightening again. You’re a legend. Fan is now installed and working perfectly.
👍👍👍
Nice instructions! Simple and straight forward! Ta!
So good! Exactly what I needed as my fan was super noisy and needed a new one! Thank you
Mate I love your videos - everything you post is on my to do list!
Glad you’re enjoying them 👍
Totally agree!! It’s like you are in my house!! Keep em coming Bill. 👍
Appreciate your upload mate, I thought they were hard wired in so I have put up with a broken fan for ages.👍💯
Did this yesterday with 100% success, thanks
You make the best videos mate, keep up the good work
Best video I found on how to do this myself - you explained everything step by step and the close ups of each stage gave me the knowledge and confidence to do this. And I did! I’m not a DIY person, but due to COVID-19 lockdown and my fan stopped working, I changed it myself so thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ll check out your other videos too, really enjoyed this one.
Glad I could help, I’m sure you will enjoy the other videos 👍
Legend bill, keep up the great work. Off to Bunnings now to get a new fan!!
Well done easy to understand

👍👍👍
Well explained, even I can do it.
Hmm...maybe I’ll take a look at the one at mums house, it’s been broken since before I was born and I’m mid 30s.
Top video.
Brilliant
Thanks! - I will give it a shot!
👍
Thankyou so much bro fantastic video really really appreciate it
You’re welcome 👍
Really enjoy your honest videos, but I was wondering, have you come across extractor fans for bathrooms windows and how to go about replacing them
Cheers bud
Too easy mate. Cheers :)
Thank goodness! Mine stop working three days ago.
Hey mate can you do a video on cctv install/wiring around the house. Specifically a double story? Cheers!!
excellent mate showed me how to remove my arlec fan cover. cheers
👍
Bro thanks heaps you saved me like $50-$100 I think I'll have a crack it looks simple enough
You’re welcome 👍
Hi Bill, great videos. Any chance you can show how to fix a rattling air conditioner (i think it's the bearings)?
thanks a lot saved money
You’re welcome 👍
Thankyou 👍
👍👍
I've been putting this off, because I didn't want to climb up into the roof. I will give this a go.
Replaced two yesterday. Some issues, 2 trips to the hardware store, but it's done. Thanks.
On a roll with the content Bill, keep it up mate! Would you be able to show us how to drill a hole straight? I've been trying to drill a 9cm hole in wood for the dowels to go in for a floating shelf, but I can't get a straight hole and the dowel goes in on an angle :/ Any advice here or any tools I can go grab to help me out here? Cheers!
Hey Bill! Appreciate these videos as always. Do you think its a good idea to vent the exhaust air out of the roof space? I'm concerned that moist air could damage timber and cause mould growth in the roof.
What if you have a combined light and exhaust fan, is it stil just a plug in ?
Hey mate, I bought this Arlec 250mm exhaust, and cannot for the life of me see how its suppose to work. If the fan clamps onto the plasterboard snugly, then how is the clip on grill suppose to get the clips over the fan bezel?
My clip on grill doesn't clip on, because there's no room between the fan bezel and the plaster. If I leave room by not tightening the screws, then the fan is loose, and then gets pushed up when I try to clip the grill on. This appears to be the worst engineered product, am I missing something?
Hi Bill my fan is duct taped to a flex pipe and it’s connected straight to the wire no plug. Is there a way I can somewhere disconnect the wire so it’s not live. Obviously will turn off the power first
What was the brand of that fan. It’s hard to find a that size. All of the newer ones are square?
Thanks for sharing bill👍 . Bro can you show us how to fix a hole on the hollow door please.
Hollow core doors are really cheap to purchase as a result I usually tend to replace them. Next time i replace one I’ll keep the door and show you how to fix it 👍
Thank you
how long does it take to get the fan done
Do all of emmhave an plug 🔌 and play feature??
Do we need to turn any circuit breakers off? Does the power socket in the ceiling have an on/off switch? Cheers matey.
Hi, if it’s a power socket than no circuit breaker needs to be turn off and no switch. It’s similar to a power point in the roof cavity without an on and off switch👍
how long cloud it take
Hey mate, I've removed my fan and the whole is 300mm, the fan itself is 320mm all I can find is 250mm? Can you get bigger?
This is a great video. Sadly I bought a Delta 250 mm and the screws hardly budge to tighten when clamped to the ceiling. Putting on the cover is hard because of the poor clip design. I think I will take it back.
Try and have another look at the clamps to make sure they are in the right position. Could be a simple thing that is preventing it from clamping
the clamps are great idea.... but lets say if the fan fails how do you undo the clamps, if your hands are small enough, you can put your hands through the fan to the other side and push the clamps but if your hands big thats it.. i donno how u would remove it
You should be able to unscrew it until the screw comes out.
you cloud wear saftey glass for that
The old exhaust fan was HPM and the new one is Arlec.
Hmm. Your land’s exhaust fans are not like ours in the U.S.. For one, we pipe the exhaust air to contain any humidity and odors. Secondly, the fan motors and blades are puny, like those that cool personal computers.
*With these do you need to install ducts to it like the piping?*
Depends on the type of exhaust fan you have purchased. This particular one does not require a duct 👍
@@billshowto oh wow that was a quick reply! t im buying one similar to this its an arlec. Thanks heaps!
Tradie did the same today and i wonder why there was no pipe leading out.
Bill, where have you been all my life?
You look like a more realistic version of Giga Chad.
What’s the most quite wxhaust fan brand ? Bought a cheap one from Bunnings Jesus mate it’s loud as shit . Once u switch on and off there is a loud noise and bearing sounds fkd
Make sure it has been installed correctly. if it has been forced in it will make noise as it can’t rotate freely 👍
I am only 20 year old and we decided to install a new exhaust fan
But of course I want mine to have a isolation switch so I'm going to save $300 and still diy 😂
WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE OLD BATHROOM FAN
Motor stopped working 👍
Just had a look at mine thinking it will be an easy plug and play but as my luck shows its hard wired my house is only 6yrs old wtf!
be careful cloud there be spider webs in there you can clean it out
