That’s been a huge complaint from people since midway through Covid is the chipping especially in the Hyway Titanikel. I have a customer dropping off a 357xp tonight and he bought a Hyway kit for the saw and I’ve been kind of dreading doing the port work to it. Hopefully I can get through it ok.
I had the same thing on a 372 cylinder. It flaked on the exhaust and I smoothed it as much as I could and it only ran 4 tanks and the plating peeled out where it chipped and locked the saw up. 🤦♂️ That’s the last one I’ll buy.
We'll see....... He's good customer and understands the repair. I'll be able to check the progress over time. I hope I got the chipped plating smoothed out enough.......
@@jacobfurnish7450 I feel like it would have run ok. Meteor and Hyway are fine for a quality bolt on that may run almost as good as OEM. On a budget, clean up the original cylinder when possible and keep the factory performance without the guess work. I'm still of the mind that it's OEM or nothing for performance work. Just my .02
Running a couple titanikel n didn't grind for this reason n w other mods besides porting the saws are strong runners..the 660s have similar to mahle #s....have had good luck w porting cheap farmertec cylinders....but I gotta ask..ive been saying "harder than woodpecker lips for 20 years n a old hillbilly carpenter I worked with used to say that..where did you hear that saying..i was cracking up when I saw it n had to subscribe..
Lol..i love it..you my kind o people..modding couple 200t atm n stumbled across your channel..good stuff man..thanks for sharing as I'll b following along from now on..have a goodun!!
Curious if you ever used this cylinder. If so, how did it work out? I just bought a new OEM. cylinder for $310 without WP bearing. For the money compared to OEM, maybe plug and play? Any thoughts?
Yes, I used it. It's in service at a local tree service. Time will tell. Honestly I don't usually use aftermarket cylinders as a rule. Best case, the original cylinder can be cleaned up and new Meteor or OEM piston. When the original is ruined, I try to find a used OEM cylinder. The quality and consistency is just not there on the aftermarket stuff.
@@jadeolin8514 if you're just going to bolt one on a saw and run it the timing number is a pretty good You're not going to grind you're probably pretty good

Let us know how the Hyway cylinder ends up if you will.
Thanks for the response.
Keep the videos coming.
Love the BBQ grille.
@@richardflagg3084 how is the Hyway cylinder doing today 1-21-2023?
What was the compression reading when you finished?
Thank you!!
@@sawmanbigtreeslayer2360 I didn't do a compression check. It's still chugging along.

Had the same issue with hyway cylinder's...I'll never buy another
Did you have issues with the new titanikel, or the older nikasil?
@@jadeolin8514 both..titanikel was worse
@@jadeolin8514 I didn't even use the titanikel...threw it back in the box and ordered a farmertec...
I'm actually heard that quite a bit, funny though, a few RUclipsrs proclaim the Titanikel to be so great... probably getting freebies to talk them up
