- According to a report released by the South African Medical Association Journal, a stroke is the second leading cause of death after HIV/AIDS.
Also, over 120 out of 100 000 people aged 35 years and younger die from strokes annually. However, a stroke is preventable. This may be achieved through the adoption of healthy behaviours and the management of stress. This morning in our Health Matters segment, we take a closer look at the hidden risks that may cause young people to have strokes.
Joining us to discuss this is Dr. Robyn Holgate, Emergency Medicine Manager at Mediclinic.

My daughter was 14 when she had a stroke. Thankfully she is fully recovered. She is 16 now
I'm thinking the COVID vax.
Riiiight, is this about the massive worldwide increase? The increase that began 2 years ago?
Didn't some sort of medical intervention also begin around 2 years ago? Some sort of clear liquid that people were encouraged to put into their bodies by the SABC news presenters and SA government?
It would be interesting to get stats of strokes caused by mostly corporate stress specifically in SA amongst young people because there is a lot going on there no one talks about.
True. No one wants to address that because it's business as usual. 😢
Can we get stats pre and post covid injections?
You aren't allowed to ask questions like that! Only rational, reasonable, thinking people ask questions like that. 😉
Don't forget to get your boosters folks!
Pifzer has great advice on this Matter.
And don't mention anything about a certain rollout causing increases in strokes, heart issues and how about those increases in cancer.
How important is illegal drug use in strokes occuring in young people?
Causes or risk factors?
We aren't allowed to discuss those causes, specifically the clear liquid that people put into their shoulders.
I recently spoke to a Professor at Medical school, one of the biggest risk factors is high blood pressure. 40% of people over 18years old in SA have high BP according to his studies. The problem is most only diagnose the High BP in late 30s or 40s. Which means for 20 years the high BP is damaging your vascular system and heart, then one day these problems happen. But they were actually happening for many years.
What about smoking weed?
This guest is completely useless. She doesn't know how to answer any questions intelligently.
