I am fortunate enough to have the LS16, Rosewood and it is a fine luxury instrument exceeding all expectations. Additionally, the body thickness is wider than an OM, or 000 which was mention in the video.
I've been watching & listening through high quality earphones to reviews until my eyes are falling out and my brain is boggled. FG & FS 3's & 5's, Martin 00010e, Yamaha AC5's, Taylor 214ce walnut, Cort gold series Yamaha LL16R & M, Martin Jr Dred', and now finally I have found one I can live with. My first all solid wood. Thank you for helping me find the Yamaha LS-M. It has become a real problem for customers to try guitars in person with fewer musical instrument shops now. We are forced to buy without trying first. In my state in Tasmania Australia, we have on shop in the Sth & one in the Nth with a 5 hour drive between. And then little stock to choose from. If not for your review I'd be stuck. Great playing Q, just my style & showed the LS at its best. ❤Kat'
Sorry, gents, the L does not stand for luxury, it's for Luthier. The 16's are the first step of their Luthier line which is above their amazing Red Label line. L's were top of the line until Yamaha's most recent flagship release, the new FG9.
Kudos for the clarification of the "L." And yes, while the FG9 is currently Yamaha's halo model, it's not their most expensive. The L56 series costs more, and the price of the top of the line GC classicals are more than twice the FG9's price. Yamaha has long made some amazing high-end stuff that too often goes unrecognized.

Obviously a great guitar. Especially for the$ They like to ship their guitars with 80/20 bronze ? I’m thinking it would be more balanced with Phosphor Bronze.
Great guitar. I have the LS16 rosewood (and the LL16D rosewood). Glad you reviewed this guitar, but to be honest, the guy playing it is too heavy handed (maybe he's a banjo player ; '). Anyway, you talked about the warmth of the guitar, but I didn't hear any warmth the way it was played. Maybe the mic/setup you're using is part of the problem?
No, you complain too much. The guy's playing is fine, it's good actually. Sound of the guitar is excellent. Since you have such good taste, post a video of your playing, and we can all learn from a superior player. Maybe.
Definitely a heavy handed player, a lot of these reviews leave a lot to be desired because of his right hand approach, fails to bring out complexity and dynamics each guitar can offer
I've got a nice Alvarez dreadnought but as I've been practicing some basic fingerstyle I've been drawn to this model by Yamaha. I also wanted to add it's hard to find one in the UK unless I'm looking wrong
Is this a bigger guitar than the smaller red label? And all these videos it seems to sound better to me than the smaller red label Yamaha. Is it just a totally different make?
You can always trust Yamaha for their instruments. Personally I think it is right behind Martin, Gibson and Taylor. And I would recommend their guitars to any beginners when they ask me.
My martin decided to fall apart. 10 years, the glue started separating. Yes i kept my humidity correct. Warranty work take about 3 months. And it is happening all over. Going in the the closet for good. :(
@@waynzwhirled6181 Low end guitars of these brands never ever deserve their price in my opinion. Actually their brands themselves is the only thing that makes the price skyrocketing
I feel the Yamaha A5R and A3R have a better sound than this model. Much warmer, deeper and less boxy sounding. I’m generally not a fan of Englman spruce, not sure if that is the issue for me here. This one has 1 3/4” nut, A models 1 11/16” nut.

Yamaha prove that you don't have to sell your house to buy a decent high quality guitar- best bang for buck guitars on the market.
So true. I am sold on Yamaha.

I own an LS16 rosewood.. It's just incredible sounding guitar...
Slight touch and it booms
These Yamaha L Series guitars are stellar. I have the LL6M ARE and quite nice.
This is a perfect "travel-guitar".
Looking good, soinds very well.
Good job Yamaha.
Yamaha guitars Rock....and Country; and everything in between. 🎸😉
I have an LL6M A.R.E. and an LS6. These are great guitars.
Hey Guys, I would LOVE your acoustic pick up review. I am shopping for P Ups for my GS Mini and Taylor AD27. Have a great day everyone 👍
I like this one!

Always been known to most as the "Luxury Line" I have two. LL16D and LL16/12. Just beautiful instruments.
Great sound. What is the nut width, scale length, neck profile? Is there a gig bag? Inquiring minds would like to know! Thanks, Paul and Quinton.
nut width is 1.75”. Comes with a gig bag
i find the neck slightly too big. Cant get my thumb around it for playing D chord
@@alamo11 you need more practice. I have small hands and still can use the thumb when playing classical guitar which has 52mm nut. This one only 45mm
Yes for sure demo the acoustic pick ups please
“Like us… or not…” I SUBSCRIBED instantly 😂😂
I thought that LS stood for little sister, but this guitar sounds like a big momma, especialy being slightly bigger than 000.
That sounds very full for the size
He is a great player he could make a Jim Dandy or a Mitchell sound great
I have a LS 16 it is fantastic for finger style Best buy anywhere the rosewood sounds much better than the M
I agree! I had the LL16M which was great but a tad too big for me. Now I have the LJ16 Rosewood and it feels more comfortable and sounds more crisp.

Modified dreadnought is the shape guys.
No. This one LS is modified OM shape. The bigger LL is modifed jumbo shape. Yamaha FG series is their modified dread shape
Question: is it the same dimensions as other Yamaha "S" guitars in the various series, FS5 or FS800 for example?
Most noticeable difference is the L's deeper body. Scale is longer and nut width wider, too.
The nut is wider for sure. FS are 43mm this one is like 45mm
The same, except the bigger nut width
I has a very Crisp sound,i really didn’t hear the low end 5:52
Mahogany B&S . This model wih Rosewood B&S even better

Ok. So show us the complexity and dynamics. Leave nothing to be desired.

Yeah just give this guy a dread for him to strum all day . His style of playing is very outdated and it butchers any good OM size guitar like this

Different spruce... Part of it..
How much is this guitar? I heard of Red banner Yamahas and the triple O Wide Body. It has a deeper body compared to normal O guitars. Any who how much

When I bought mine I learned that LJ meant it was made in Japan. Is that incorrect?
No, it the bodyshape. It stands Luxery jumpo
Its made in china
The 26s and 36s are made in Japan
LJ is a mid-size jumbo
Lj is l series jumbo.
